I called to place an order for pick up and they told me it'd be ready in 5 minutes. I got the Jerusalem falafel sandwich (came out to a little less than $10) with hot sauce and it was super flavorful, and a bigger portion than I had expected. A great option for a quick lunch if you're in the area. The hot sauce is not that spicy. I was walking my puppy prior to picking up the order and they let me bring him inside for a moment while paying, and they even said hi to my dog and gave him a treat! Absolutely massive portions, the platters are so big. Comes with fresh salad, rice or really fresh hummus, and your entree. I got the skewer platter and shawarma platter. Was absolutely very solid food. You can tell it's fresh based off the large stock of veggies and meats right in the kitchen. I didn't know I could get so excited about a grilled chicken salad, but this one is absolutely delicious and completely different. I order grilled chicken salads at a lot of places and they're usually pretty much the same -- lettuce, unripe tomatoes, and an often dry chicken breast on top. But Jerusalem Kitchen's is a whole other experience. The chicken is sliced and I think marinated before it is cooked, resulting in pieces that are thin, tender, and full of flavor. The salad has a generous amount of chicken and grilled vegetables and is covered with a crave-worthy seasoning (I think Za'atar) that makes it unique and so tasty. We've also ordered their chicken skewer platter, and the chicken is similarly flavorful and tender. Definitely get the pilaf, it is also unique and so good! read more

This is a weekly rotation spot for my family. The fries are delicious and fresh and when my toddler actually eats with us, he eats a bunch. The hummus is AMAZING and the small serving is pretty great for two adults to enjoy. The shawarma wrap is delicious and HUGE! Lately my spouse and I split a chicken one with medium hot sauce. It's really good. Staff is always super nice, too. Pleasant to sit outside when it's nice and there's some indoor tables, too. There's really nothing quite like those mom and pop shops that serve up the classics at decent prices. Clearly this is one of those places. Came in on a sunny Sunday afternoon and was warmly greeted and guided through the goods. FOOD: lamb combo platter with hummus. Everything solid. Lamb was tender and heavily seasoned. Perfectly oily for me, possibly too oily for others, but I loved it. I was given a hot sauce which was a perfect addition to the medley of flavors with the tahini. Hummus was solid with good oil as well. Bread tasty and salad, though simple, did its job perfectly. Definitely a good choice. Falafel wrap was better than expected. Falafel was very tasty and so were all the fillings. Fresh produce everywhere. The kicker was the wrap. Toasted on either a flat top or a panini press which really gave it an unexpected and awesome dimension of char and crunch. It's also huge. Don't sleep on this. Overall a great experience. Jamie W. and I have been for finding ourselves at the bottom of Indian Rock Path facing several dining options on Solano Avenue, so we couldn't help noticing this compact Middle Eastern spot since it's the first business you see when you cross The Alameda. It took us several months before we actually entered the place much like it took several years for the U.S. Embassy to move to Jerusalem. However, we weren't afraid of getting pelted with stones or something worse like dealing with a mindlessly grinning Ivanka. No, we came in peace and faced a server who didn't appear to enjoy smiling much. It actually reminded me of the John Belushi Pepsi-Pepsi-cheeps-cheeps skit on SNL back in the olden days. That didn't prevent us from ordering a couple of healthy and tasty meals. I discovered last night or today, actually, that they are closed on Tuesdays. I called yesterday and got the answering machine when they should have been open according to Yelp. I drove by and the place was dark. Today I called and the man who answered the phone told me about the Tuesday closure. I got dinner from them tonight, the mini falafel platter, and have enough left for a light lunch tomorrow. It was delicious, as usual, and inexpensive, less than $10 before tip. I've heard good things about this place for awhile, but never got a chance to try them until recently when I ordered the shawarma special wrap. Oh how I wish I would have stopped by here every time I wanted a shawarma wrap (or gyro), because I do think it's better than all the other ones I've tried in the Bay Area. Here's why: 1) wrap has a good crunch and not the pillowy carby sort you get at other places (less carbs overall), 2) includes hummus and tahini (not included in many places), 3) no yogurt sauce for those trying to avoid dairy or don't like yogurt altogether, 4) good quality ripe tomatoes and crunchy greens, not the pale sort of excuse for romas that one often finds in wraps and sandwiches. The owner (I presume?) and his workers are very friendly/welcoming and I was surprised they even bring your food out to you even if you sit outside (pleasant, shaded, peaceful since not a ton of people walking by). The wrap is large enough for two meals, but it's easy to scarf it down in one sitting as I did since it's so tasty. Looking forward to returning and trying more on the menu! read more

We live in this neighborhood and if you know the North Shattuck and Northbrae Neighborhoods, there is no shortage of walkable dining. We just love Jerusalem Organic Kitchen for a consistently well prepared meal, friendly staff, and really good ingredients! They serve a quick, casual, healthy, and absolutely delicious meal. Everything we have tried is great with balanced seasonings. My personal favorite is the Shawarma Platter. Don't miss the perfectly prepared salmon platter with a generous serving of salmon that won't set you back an arm and a leg. The salad with chicken shawarma on top is great too. And they, of course, prepare a great middle eastern platter and falafel platter. And if all you want is a sandwich or burger - you won't be disappointed. Get the idea? I wasn't sure what to expect, but I entered a different world! I entered with a friendly greeting at the door while he was checking / fixing something. He asked if I was Paul, and thought he asked if I was cold at first. I ordered fries, chicken soup, 2 skewers (beef and chicken platters), falafel sandwich (wrap) and it would be ready in 20 to 25 minutes. It was basically ready on time with thorough confirmation of order on pen and paper. Luckily they take credit card, minimum $10. Only one customer inside at a time. You will probably have to park far if at a busy time. Because the chicken soup was missing, she was (I assume the owner) was taking an order on the phone. I got my food in plastic packaging. I came back to confirm because the prices on here aren't the same. She was more friendly that time around. Strong personality type of lady with no need to be American customer service friendly, if you know what I mean. Food was so good! I got the beef skewers but they should be called, steak skewers. Cooked just like I like them, medium or so and not tough. The yogurt sauce and spicy sauce are unique & taste so, so good together. Spices on top of the rice were a little strong and got caught in my throat but I should have mixed it around. They have the best hummus I've ever had. I usually think salads are plain but so good too. The fries were just like home made but better. Crispy on outside and soft inside. Tried the other dishes too and all were great, except the chicken soup because I guess I was expecting a little more flavor & the spices were not to my taste. Maybe a little too much for me. All in all, with the location & everything expected organic for a family owned restaurant, the price was right. The food, the atmosphere and experience, was right too. Like stepping into their home. Stopped in for a quick lunch (having skipped breakfast) and the Grilled Wild Salmon caught my eye. Service was relatively quick and the salmon dish was perfectly done. The salmon was fresh and flaky (not overdone) with a crispy skin. The hummus was not oily and perfect for dipping. There were a few side sauces and both the white and red one were great to dress the salmon with. I like how you get a choice of rice or hummus and overall found the service quick and effective. Wow! Plentiful amount of food and oh soo tasty!!! I had heard their falafels are amazing. So when my BF and I wanted to try a new restaurant, I suggested Jerusalem Kitchen. Then we came on here to see the reviews. I hesitated because the score was only 4.5. My BF said let's go anyway. So happy he persisted because the food is amazing!!! We got a sample platter with lamb, chicken, hummus and salad. Then we ordered a side of rice. He got a falafel wrap. When they brought the food out, I practically hollered at the amount they put in our container. It was filled to the brim. Then I took a bit and ohhh it was so good!!! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be back. Get the almond bars as desert. They are really yummy. As I ordered some after dinner, the guy told me they have been in business for 20 years and everything is made fresh everyday. You can tell. I was in the mood for a falafel wrap. I had heard of this place and saw the decent reviews. First time I went, it was inexplicably closed. Lights out, chairs on table. Decided to try again a few weeks later. It was open. The first thing that struck me was how disgustingly filthy the place is. If you go, look on any surface. The lights hanging down are all covered with a thick goo of dust. Two lights were out, one was flickering. But everywhere you look, filthy. Floors, tables, everything. Ordered the falafel wrap. Elderly woman at register had the warmth and personality of a rock. Took my money and that was it. No "thank you, it'll be ready in a few minutes" or anything. Do I stand there? Move over? What? When I got my wrap, went back to my office and ate it. Maybe I don't know what a falafel wrap is and if that's the case, I apologize. It was just a soggy mushy mess with no ingredients identifiable. I thought there would be falafel balls in there A month later I had that hankering, but this time went to Troy's a few doors down. Polite, clean and delicious falafel wrap. Just as expected. I doubt I'll try this place again, but if I do and they just had a bad day, I'll revise my review. But little makes me want to try this again. Maybe if it wasn't so grimy. read more

I did have a customer service issue but i NEVER let that influence my review as i believe it should be about the FOOD. I had the chicken shawarma wrap. First sign of trouble is that it is actually not a "wrap" per se, it is actually a burrito as they use a large packaged tortilla and then grill it. Secondly, I'm no chef but i do know not to put cold salad into a wrap and then grill it on a hot stove, but that is precisely what they do here. What you end up with inside is soggy wilted salad, lettuce etc. In terms of portions the wrap looks big from the outside but the ratio of chicken is pretty minimal see pic, it is mostly lettuce. The chicken itself was pretty lacking in seasoning as well. The "hot" red sauce tasted like blended up pace salsa for real. For me it is worth driving to a different spot to get this type of food, and there are plenty, or just walk down half a block is also an option. There were other issues as well but I'm done typing. read more
