Jersey Mike's Subs - Sandwiches Near Me - Northampton, Massachusetts

I started loving Jersey Mikes years ago when visiting Mohegan Sun Casino and am happy that the 4th store within fifteen minutes from my house opened in Northampton MA recently. There is no question that Jersey Mikes food is fantastic, but a big part of what makes them good is the experience of going there. Watching the food sliced and the sandwiches made before your eyes and the usual upbeat chatty staff. It all makes for a nice experience, but not in the new Northampton store. The woman who helped us was grumpy as hell, barking orders at fellow staff and firing questions without making eye contact, or in the case of my wife's sandwich that was hot and being made on the grill never asking or explaining options. When it came to the toppings bar, the same unpleasant woman slid over and interrupted me literally every time I spoke. When my wife asked about options on her #17 she was flat out told there were no toppings option. When another staff person tried to intervene to help, that person also got snapped at! And when it came time to pay, the person incorrectly rang up the order as two number 17s instead of a number 17 and a number 12. When I pointed out the mistake, the person ringing it up said I was wrong and stuck the slip that the original cranky woman had written incorrectly for the grill. When I pointed out that the very same person who was telling me I was wrong had just wrapped my two sandwiches and they were not both the same, another more level headed staff person stepped in and corrected everything. My final complaint with the store, though this was probably corporate, is that as stated already, part of the experience is watching the sandwich get made. But not in Northampton! Someone decided that the perfect place for a huge advertising decal promoting football or something should cover the entire glass divider where the sandwiches are made. I still love Jersey Mikes. But never again will I go to the Northampton store! read more

A few months ago, I reviewed the Hadley shop; now that Jersey Mike's is in Northampton I can compare and add the following. First, there is a bit more space in this restaurant than Hadley though at peak times there are lines next to your table. There are six tables, four for 2 people and 2 tables for 4 people - respectively, and a bit more room overall than in Hadley. One lone restroom is at the far end from the entrance. It is a clean environment. The outside parking is not quite as tight as Hadley, but there is a bit of vehicle activity so be watchful. The selections, though top-rate, are limited. Do not expect flavored breads, extra toppings and garnishes that other sandwich shops offer. And although what they do offer is quite first-race (hence the prices!), the flavor is just not up to par. I mean lackluster mayonnaise, only shredded iceberg lettuce, tepid provolone cheese, hothouse tomatoes, a couple of other veggie additions. Meats are sliced in your presence which is nice, but it does not enhance the flavor of any sandwich. So I came away with a pricey, hefty sandwich with nice ingredients on a white bread grinder roll, but it tasted so bland. I would love to see oregano, olives, flavored cheeses and sauces and these sandwiches would pop! Right now, they don't. read more

you may want to obtain a second mortgage on your home before coming here. I was shocked at the pricing for these grinders. Fresh to Assemble...wow...well the Peppers on my Philly Chicken were not fresh, they were canned/jar and marinated in something sweet and tangy (gross). There was 8 people working, not one had a friendly demeanor. Slow as molasses too. I suggest a Local place or Subway or D' Angelos. read more

Jersey Mike's subs are the best subs around!!! I get the #64 with extra peppers and onions and lettuce when it comes off the grill. When I'm about to devour it I smear it with mayonnaise and hot pepper relish and I'm so happy that I can't even tell you!! I'm doing a lot oooh & aaahhhin!! Went to Jersey Mike's in Northampton for the first time to grab lunch for my boyfriend, who had been working all night and into the morning. I ordered a steak and cheese and very clearly said NO onions or peppers ..even put it in the special instructions. I grab the sub, go back to my car, unwrap it to double-check, and it's full of tiny onions. On top of that, the bread was completely soggy. I had to pick onions out just to see how bad it was. I went back inside to have it remade, and let me be clear, my boyfriend is allergic to onions. The men behind the counter were incredibly kind and understanding, and this was not their fault at all. Huge props to them. But the woman? Absolutely awful. As soon as she was told it needed to be remade, she started scoffing and making comments under her breath. The attitude was unreal. I'm sorry, but if you're getting paid $15-$17 an hour, the bare minimum is not messing up a simple sandwich and then catching an attitude when it's corrected..especially when it's about an allergy. The guys were great, but that woman completely ruined the experience. This is exactly why the Hadley location is better. Won't be coming back to Northampton anytime soon. read more
