I've been back to Jerry's approximately 4 times in the past year. prior to that, I hadn't been since I was 16 years old back in 2004! This place has always been a spot for the youths to congregate and vibe on a Friday night. Live shows down in the basement are still going strong which is comforting. Most recently, we came for the Re*issued show out in the alley. It was such a fun time and it was awesome to see that it was open to all ages. The few times I've been have been for drinks or a slice of pizza after a night of bar hopping. The place still looks the same, except for the menu! We ask our Hotel concertgoers for a good breakfast that was walking distance. She suggested Jerry's Pizza and it was an absolute GEM. They had a breakfast buffet, but we went for the concert he favorite item. Chili Verde PIZZA with egg. OMGOSH!!! It was amazing. I never had a breakfast pizza so this one is my current favorite. It is very filling so you need a few friends to help you eat it. The service was excellent they were friendly and quick. We ate outside and enjoyed an amazing acoustic concert. I stopped in for a burger after conducting some local business, and am still blown away by the overall tastiness of the burger! I'm not sure what they're secret is, but Jerry definitely knows how to make a good burger. The service was also excellent, as I was greeted by a very friendly server upon entering the establishment. I've been coming to Jerry's Pizza for about 15 years now and they have always been great. But more recently with them serving liquor and they added more items to their menu they have really stepped up their game. There pizza is just really solid and delicious. The crust is seriously the best part. Crispy but soft. The sauce, cheese and pepperoni are of great quality. For $5 bucks a large slice, I think it's a great deal. My wife saw an online post from Jerrys advertising a street faire in the alley this past Sunday and she had been wanting to try Jerrys pizza for sometime now. We come downtown frequently for a good meal and a drink but tend to stay nearby our neighborhood for pizza. I hadnt been into Jerrys for at least 30 years, back when Jerry operated it and I didnt care too much about things that I question as I get older. First off, service was great and the price on their big list of lunch specials is very reasonable. Placed our order and grabbed a high top table up on the stage and this is where everything got a bit questionable. Went to the bathroom to wash my hands and the bathroom was disgusting! Picture the smell of the worst dirty diaper you ever smelt and fish for some reason. There is also standing water or worse on the floor behind the toilet and a bunch of flies. Disgusting. The flys were no better back at our table. Then the floor fan that was mounted on the wall, so covered with dust I cant imagine much air flowing from it and the dust flying onto peoples food.. The paint on the ceiling is falling down and cobwebs dangling in the wind. They always say to look at the front of the house in a restaurant because the kitchen is likely as bad. We were honestly thinking we messed up and contemplated just leaving.. we stuck it out and got our food. Everything from the wings, salad, and pizza were great! The place was packed so I dont think they will miss us too much, but honestly if they want to grow their business they have to do better to get return customers that would not normally frequent the place.. for us, the cleanliness of the place is just not worth returning. I went on Sunday 4/4/25 place was packed waited in line for a while which is fine ordered my food a personal combination pizza menudo to go and a beer and Pepsi while we waited.When the server called my order it came out dine in I asked nicely that it was to go then waited another while for the pizza to be boxed then waited the menudo which came out later. I arrived home pizza was good but the so called menudo was not menudo and the container was half full. I tasted it and it was like birria juice yuck and it had two pieces of beef type meat and loads of hominy and juice. For 13.00 bucks save your money no flavor tasted like a tapatio cup of noodles no tripe so disappointing I want to support local businesses but this ain't it. Caught a doom metal show downstairs. Awesome setup for a basement venue. Tight space, heavy sound, and a solid local scene. The pizza? Doughy, greasy, and exactly what I needed to come back to life after hours of headbanging. Good portion, no attitude, and it came out fast. Now, the only weird part: right as I'm finishing up & crunching ice at my table, some random dude asks to sit directly across from me. Place was 70% empty. Could've sat anywhere. Jerry's Pizza is for the people. I remember hearing about Jerry's when I was in high school in Ventura in the 1990s. It was a punk rock mecca. Like Gilman Street with food. All the touring bands played there. The current owners are definitely living up to the legacy of this amazing place. Its as good as it ever was, if not better. Check out their Instagram page- they have a crazy variety of events every week. Live music, of course, but book clubs, movies, events for families, events for couples, all ages stuff- they even have events in the alley next door. This is the kind of place any community would be grateful to have and they deserve all the support we can give to them in return. A+ read more

Why did I wait so long to come here? Well I guess it's because I'm not a downtown type of person. So I kept passing it up. But I heard they had birria pizza and chile verde pizza with gluten free crust, so I knew I had to venture out of my comfort zone. Glad. I. Did. The guy at the counter who took our order was so kind, explaining the menu items and being patient while we all tried to decide what we wanted. He remained helpful throughout the whole dining experience. I was torn between the 2 types of pizza that originally brought me in. I decided on the birria pizza on cauliflower crust, and shared asada fries with my husband. It was all so good! The flavors were just amazing. My daughter got a personal cheese pizza and ate it. So let me tell you my experience here. First off, I've lived in Bakersfield for about 20 years now, and I have never walked into this place only because of the parking situation and usually when we were out bar hopping, we didn't venture out to this part of downtown not to mention I didn't know they also had this food going on. It was my assumption that it was just a dark punk rock, get drunk beer and pizza bar, get a slab of greasy pizza, and do some head banging. Let me tell you I was wrong of my assumption. There's an entire specialty menu going on up in here. This is about the only place where ordering one pizza isn't going to cost you $50.00 and taste great. We came on Taco Tuesday and karaoke night. You can get 3 Carne asada or chicken tacos for 6 bucks, and for 3 bucks more, you can add a margarita. We just got the 3 Carne asada, and they were delicious. Jerry's Pizza is also known for its Chilie Verde mac n cheese. I am not a fan of mac n cheese, I know I can see your dirty looks now . anyway, I love a good Chilie Verde, so I wanted to venture out and try it, so I did, and I'm glad I did. This was friggin delicious. The chile Verde had nice sizes of pork pieces. It had a nice little kick of heat. It wasn't dry or pasty, and it was full of flavor. We had to make sure we left some for our next day leftovers. We also ordered some Buffalo wings. These were average tasting Buffalo wings, and they hit the spot. Lastly, we ordered an XL pepperoni pizza. They put just the right amount of sauce so that the cheese doesn't slide off when you bite into your slice. My granddaughter says the sauce was the best part. They fancy up the pizza crust at the end like a pie, so I would ask for some extra sauce or some ranch for dipping. It wasn't crowded at all during pickup, but they did seemingly forget our order twice while waiting which made the wait time over an hour (originally estimated 30mins), but it's okay, things happen.
