I went to JCPenny to pick up an online order. There used to be a counter right inside the door where you can pick up orders. That was moved to a more inconvenient place for parkers but right in sight when waking in from the mall. But I didn't mind the walk. I got my package pretty easily. Our photo session was so much fun! I would love to do this every year. The photographers were fun and fantastic.

The store has no working air conditioning making it unbearable to shop. Purchased a few items and stood in line. There was an extremely overweight black cashier who had her back towards us and screamed NEXT!!! like we were in line at the DMV. We walked to her register and after scanning our purchases, she was throwing our items into the bag, not placing them in the bag nicely. One of the items I purchased ended up getting scratched because of this. She was leaning on the counter the entire time instead of standing up like an attentive employee. If you wanted to sleep, you should have stayed in bed. Very rude demeanor, horrible attitude, and lazy. What kind of people is JCPenney employing!????? read more

They want you to do e mail statements and if you don't sign up for your statements through E Mail you will be charged this fee each month. JCP doesn't get enough credit. They are a lot like Kohl's but you can sign up to get their texts with special discounts and coupons you can use at the register. You can pick up luggage for your next trip, small appliances for your kitchen, gifts for your next birthday party, bedding, pillows and my favorite- clothes and shoes. They cater to all sizes and their CSRs are pretty helpful. The store is well organized (with the exception of the clearance sections on occasion), and it's clean which is something I always look at when in any business. Love JCP! read more

The store is never clean and I am never greeted or asked if I want to join the points program. I am very disgusted by the dust on all the items inside the store. The store was nice and tidy. Everything was in its place. The only thing I couldn't figure out was why the mannequin was naked with only bits of mesh over the face and around the hip. Ugh. JCPenney has recently switched their structure as far as pricing so time will tell if that was a good decision. The store as a whole is busier than it used to be but with the lower price point who knows if that prove to be profitable. I don't usually shop around in here, but I will buy things online & have them shipped here for the free shipping option. You pick up online orders in the catalog section. When I went this week to pick up two pairs of boots, they could only find one. I ended up spending my entire lunch hour as the lady working the desk tried to figure out what to do. She mentioned she might have seen it in the back under another number---but then didn't bother looking. She finally refunded my second pair of boots which was disappointing but I was pretty over everything at that point and needed to get back to work. I got a call two days later that they found my boots and I could come back to purchase them. No thanks. I'm not sure I will continue this strategy of getting items shipped to the store if it's going to cost me an hour of my day to pick things up. I've done it in the past and it only took 5 minutes. Store Review: New and improved! I was surprised to visit the new JCP design with a classier layout and brighter more modern appearance. The prices without .xx was a nice change as well. Unfortunately the product line has not changed at all. I still am unable to find anything to buy at JcP. The quality of the clothes is on par with Kmart. Not too many name brand apparel here, but if you are on a budget JcP maybe the way to go. For all the time I have been alive I can remember shopping here. I hadn't been in a long, long, long time due to the fact that, well, I moved away. However when in town I still shop at Woodfield and needed a few random items. Where else to get them but here? Yes, JCP always has great sales, you can count on them for good prices, in any of their stores. The difference between this one and the crappy JCP in International Mall is just that. I had the most amazing experience from a women named Mel at the Schaumburg JC Penny store. I had not had a good experience when I used the bathroom and had no toilet paper, and there wasn't many people there to help find what I needed in the department store, but when I got up to check out my purchase I was greeted by a big smile from Mel, and she complemented me on my selections of towels that I purchased and told me she was going to save me money by opening up a JC Penny Credit Card, not only did I save money but despite being busy, her focus was on me, she made my experience at JC Penny a great experience. I walked in this entrance of the mall & walked to the bathroom. The bathroom here looked like people were playing dodge ball with an unlimited supply of poop. There was not only poop all over the toilets but there was poop all over the stall. At one point I really thought some one was trying to draw hieroglyphics with their own fecal matter. After what I saw I wanted to get out of this store as quick as possible. As I wondered through the store I realized a lot of their stuff here was kind of cheap. It reminded me of Woodfield malls version of Wal-Mart. I'm not sure what brands they carry here that are exclusive besides Van Husen the clothing which I see commercials for all the time but besides that I'm not sure of anything else. The prices here are significantly lower than Macy's & Nordstrom's but the brand names are less also. Overall the bathroom was filthy & the selection wasn't that good. I have been in this store countless times. Each and every time the store is neat, clean, well stocked, and for some reason, everything I touch is on sale. Last night was a particularly good experience. My husband needs new shoes. This is a rare and difficult event, as he has an odd shoe size. We went to the men's shoe area, and the gentleman working there was fantastic. When the shoe we wanted to try was not available in his size, the employee brought out similar styles that were available in his size without us having to ask. He also explained some facts about shoes, demonstrating that he knew his stuff, and was just a generally nice person. When we located a pair that fit, they happened to be a display pair, and the box was not available. He offered us a very fair discount without any conversation about it. Then, on to the ladies department for me. I found a few weekend outfits, and a nice pair of pants for work. When the pants did not come up as marked, I mentioned it to the cashier. Not only did she immediately adjust it, she gave a sincere apology. She also had me check her screen before processing the sale to make sure everything looked right to me. I visited here to do some Christmas shopping before the holiday. JCP has a good selection and they carry good quality items. The regular prices can be a bit high but they have sales all.the.time. Don't buy items on regular price here, just come back in a week and it will probably be on sale. I visited on a Monday evening so thankfully the store was not too busy. My credit card number was stolen Monday at the salon checkout at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL and fraudulently used later that evening at other stores in the mall. The store supervisor and corporate customer service representative have acted unconcerned with no follow through on looking into this further. Has this happened to anyone else? It would be really easy to see who used the number at the other shops. This would be one star for how unresponsive the staff has been, but it gets a second star because I like my haircut I received. !!!Warning this is a public service announcement!!! !!!!Stay away from this salon!!!! My wife is not a yelper but I believe she will be now! Long story short, she my wife RA and has issues with her hair as a result of the medication. So she shared some of her stories with hair troubles etc. as we all do. When she was done, my wife paid and tipped the stylist although she was a bit disappointed as they would not do what she wanted. But before my wife left she was shopping the products and to her surprise she begins to hear the stylist talk shit about her! She was devastated to say the least. My wife is very sensitive about her hair and has a complex when it comes to that. It is thirsty women like this that have nothing better to them to talk shit about others. Why not offer solutions or other options and have some damn empathy for the customers! That is part of the job as a stylist, I will not stop with this post. This location has been completely remodeled and it is wonderful. It is very well organized and very easy to get around. Before this place was beginning to become very dumpy -- it was hard to get around, things seemed to be disorganized, help was hard to be found. But now this place is completely different. They carry some great items. My favorite departments in this store are the shoes and bedding. They have some quality stuff at really great prices. read more

I was shopping on 8/5/13 at 5:00pm and I was disappointed in tthe lack of stock in the home goods section (was shopping for lamps and accent rugs) and clerks to assist me. I didn't seem too busy in the store at all, but, when I wanted to purchase a rug, I couldn't find a check-out counter that didn't have a long line! There was only one clerk at the check-out counter! I left without purchasing the rug. I will order it on-line. Seems that J C Penney's customer service is going down hill. I used to shop at this location all the time. I will not return. read more

I can't believe I have NEVER reviewed this location... def one of the biggest and best around the Northwest Suburbs. Love how sleek the new JCP looks, little more modern/contemporary without going overboard and its always super clean here. Since their new prices, I think I save even more now when I shop there -- I mean a $5 fedora?? Yes please!! Staff has always been nice and helpful, never had a problem returning anything--though I know I have waited plenty long in lines, but that doesn't bother me too much. Shout out to Rocky in the Juniors Department who rang up my transaction today (4/22/16). She took all six dressy blouses (not tshirts, but work/dress tops) and dress skirt, rolled them individually with the item still on the hanger, and stacked each ball of clothing on top of each other before indifferently stuffing them into a bag. I didn't want the hangers. I didn't want my clothes to be rolled into blobs. Everything is now wrinkled and the hangers caught on the details of the blouses. The hangers were caught in the lace and crocheted neckline, and had to be delicately removed. This could've been time saved had Rocky taken the time to remove the hangers in the first place. She could also try not to look so annoyed when shouting a customer over with "YEAH?!" or "NEXT!" I've worked retail for a number of years, and I get it. It's not the most glamorous job. But don't treat the clothes other people are buying like the clothes coming out of your dryer. Thats fine if you're the type of person who moves clothes from the dryer into a hamper and wears everything straight out of the hamper. We've all had those moments. But you don't treat someone else's new clothes like your clean/dirty laundry. Also, why is it so impossible to find any associates at a register when you need one? That's great they're cleaning fitting rooms and putting clothes back, but I've never heard of not having someone within range to assist customers when need be. Two customers came up to me asking for assistance because they thought I was an employee. That's a problem if someone waiting by a register to pay is being asked to assist others. Remind your employees that besides performing recovery on the racks, they also need to be at the registers too. If I have to buy all my clothes at the jewelry counter because that's the only place where an employee is stationed at all times, so be it. read more

Only regarding the: all-new, redesigned home department I never go in JCPennys. I am a Nordstrom shopper when it comes to clothing. However the home department here looked very inviting. I have not been in any of their home departments for awhile so I am not sure when this one was remodelled but I know it is a lot different looking than when I used to go to JCP as a kid. The department was spacious, modern, well-lit, and arranged in nice sections. There were demonstrations in progress and many people to ask questions of if you needed help with a product. We were greeted by two separate workers who were very passionate about their new department. The experience was actually rather inviting and might make me look up one of these new departments compared to shopping in a cramped Sur la Table store. Connected to a nice mall as well. read more

Love, love, LOVE this store. Went with my mom to help her shop for curtains today. JC Penney has a lot of curtains. Like, a ridiculous variety and many are very, very reasonably priced! My mom had encountered salesperson Deborah on her last visit and she was working again today. Bless her soul. Despite my mom's 100 questions, Deborah was very patient and professional! She really gave us some good ideas / advice about how to proceed with my mom's windows, which run the gamut as far as unusual measurements. For the Schaumburg Woodfield Mall Store: store and associates are ok, and merchandise selection is fine, but if you want a clean bathroom don't go here, or just don't use it. If you want to use a restroom (men's or women's) that smells like a sewage plant, and looks like the men's bathroom at the State Fair or at Soldier Field after a Chicago Bears game, then this is the place for you. We had a pretty great experience at the Furniture department at this JC Penney. An older knowledgeable lady assisted us (wisdom comes with age, I suppose) when we were picking out a couch and chair. The couch ended up being backordered for 4 months, so we canceled that part of the order. However, we did still get a great price on a recliner that looks like a living room chair. It was custom made so it took about 6 weeks for it to arrive. Sadly, within the first week the spring popped and broke at the bottom near the lumbar portion of the chair, but we set up to have a repairman come to our apt and fix it. He was great and fixed it in about 10 minutes---the factory had installed a row of spring upside down! Even given this problem, I was so happy with the service warranty that I would still recommend that you check out their furniture department. They run great sales all the time, so you can really get a deal! read more

Okay, I'm not one to complain about service. I've worked retail before, and I know what its like. But the service at this JC Penny made me soo angry, I had to open up a Yelp account. I also wrote a letter to corporate! I was trying on suits, and was interested in a certain 3 piece suit they had. They were out of the vest for the suit I was looking at, and when I asked the lady to check other stores, she replied with "This suit doesn't come with a vest." I responded with "why is there a price tag for the vest? And why is this called a 3 piece suit then?" She just said "I don't know what you want, there is no vest for this suit." She was very rude..but thats not the least of it. I asked for alternative vests, and she told me there are none. I found one myself, that was exactly the same brand and style, just a different kind of fit. Being a vest, slim fit or modern fit doesn't make a difference to me. I decided to just buy the modern fit vest with the slim fit suit. She stopped me on my way out of the fitting room to scold me on how the vest doesn't go with the suit. I said I don't care, and I'll just buy it. Then she told me I wouldn't get the sale price on any of the pieces if I buy that vest with it. I knew she was wrong, so I continued walking, but she went out of her way to tell the cashier not to honor the sale price. I've never been so furious! I wen't home, and checked out their website, and the sale was applied when I added the items to the cart! I e-mailed the store manager, and I got a response apologizing, and told me she will honor if I come in the store, but by that time, they were not only probably sold out (last one left), but also, who has time to go all the way to woodfield again? Moral of the story...terrible service in suit department. ugh..sorry for the rant. Its not so much not getting the suit that bothers me, but how extremely rude she was. read more

I was shopping at this store and my daughter threw up. We asked for a large plastic bag so we could put her dirty clothes in it. The cashier told us we'd have to buy something first. My daughter is sick and they want me to make a purchase first. I grab a thing of nuts by the register (since all of things we were getting were by my husband and other kids) and the cashier tells me I'll only get a very small bag. This was absurd. She even called a manager and they said no. We put over $200 of stuff back and left. read more
