There are always such cute and gift-able items here. However, I feel the prices can be quite high for newer pieces. Definitely check out the sales room and racks in back near the dressing room. As I have found some nice deals and gifts for my daughter's that rival TJ Maxx prices. The store always looks and smells so nice and there is always uplifting music playing. I love that they also participate in Mission Mondays too, where Altar'd States donates a portion of proceeds back to local non-profit organizations, from Monday sales. read more

I was shopping looking for a green dress, the store was pretty busy and i saw this one very beautiful dress on the mannequin. i was having trouble finding the dress on the racks so i asked one of the workers for help. she helped me find the section and then when she saw we couldn't find the size i was looking for she said she could check the size on the mannequin! how sweet of her ! she went and got it for me to try on. i asked her name and she said Riley. She went above and beyond for me and im so happy with my dress. im really thankful because the store was so busy but she still did that so i could try it on. LI go to this store every time I go to Woodfield Mall. It is typically an uplifting place to visit, and I, like other customers, enjoy the floral smell, appearance, and diversity of this store provides. The shop itself makes you want to stay longer as it gives a welcoming vibe.  What's the negative aspect? Well, it's the high prices on most new things, and yes, I've dealt with a handful of salespeople that weren't as polite or helpful. Some are accommodating but there are also some that are rude and have no manners. They should be trained more when it comes to handling the customers. But, there is still a good side here, cause for a place that plays Christian music, displays and sells positive messages, and keeps a prayer request journal near the dressing area, this really  astonished me. Hopefully, they can still improve some flaws they have, cause I really believe this will become more successful. read more

Altar'd State, similar to Anthropologie, Dry Goods and Francesca's, has a really fun vibe to it! It stands out because of its core values. Based broadly in Christian faith (hence the 'altar' in their name), this store tries to inspire and empower people to give more than they receive. According to their website, they do this by "lifting those who need a helping hand, volunteering [their] time to enrich lives, and extending the power of prayer." They go so far as to offer a 'prayer request' form on their page, in case you're in need of a few extras. On Mondays, 10% of their net proceeds to go local charities, so if you're shopping, try to hit them up on a Monday! Being that the store is based in Christianity, there will be some 'on the nose' items. However, regardless of your faith, this is a store to hit up! It has some cool fashions, fun accessories, perfect small gifts and cute home decor. There's a clearance area for those like me, who sadly can't normally afford to shop at stores like this when items are full price. (One day, maybe? Hopefully? Please?) I've found their sizes to be hit or miss on my petite 5'0 frame,but never the less, I always stop in when shopping at Woodfield, just in case fate has placed the perfect item in the clearance section just for me. They have a plus size shop, A Beautiful Soul, which I don't recall seeing at Woodfield, but you may want to keep your eyes open for! When you first walk in, you get knocked over by a sweet smell. Candles? If you're scent sensitive, beware. Anyhow, I LOVE this adorable, Southern charm, Christian-inspired store! There are so many adorable knickknacks, books, inspirational wood decorations (with various phrases about Jesus or God, and Bible verses) I felt right at home. I wanted everything! Only problem were the prices. I know good quality clothing usually has a higher price, but as I've gotten older, I've realized that spending so much $$ on clothing just isn't that important. I would have thought a Christian store would have understood that when choosing their prices, being that we are to be good stewards of our money. I am disappointed that I always leave empty-handed. But I always go back to see if there are any good clearance items! The clothing is all sweet, frilly, trendy, with a country modern, southern belle type of look - a little of everything. Oh, and cute skinny jeans! Cozy sweaters! Cozy jammies! Cozy tshirts and jeans! I really would love a free shopping spree - please and thank you!!! My wardrobe needs an upgrade! The ladies working there are all super nice and helpful. I WILL keep going back until I find something affordable - just because I am thrilled with their store and would rather support a decent, Christian store than the trashy, sex-appeal stores that are everywhere. Keep it up with the decent/modest items!....but please decrease the prices, if possible. Not everyone can afford $60 sweaters and $28 small wooden/painted decorations. read more

Altar'd state is exceptional! This mall is the best! Really love their customer service, a big 10 out of 10. Their stalls are very much organized, highlighted with great things. Actually, some might be quite expensive but the quality is just worth it, I'm telling you. Their employees there was all very friendly, decent, nice, and also very patient with me since I would usually always ask them directions and stuff. The clothes were all very great, such neat textures and very unique designs, one of the reasons why I just love this place. Also, I like the vibes. It is very peaceful, cute actually, and just calm. Neat décor items and their perfumes are a big chef's kiss. The smell of them are so nice and this is actually the place where I would always buy my own perfume (clothes as well to be honest). Very fashionable place. Love the vibes, the service and the products in here! Definitely going for another time. Also will recommend this place to all the people I know. This place has a lot of cute clothes for younger women. You can also find here a bunch of unique items that you absolutely want to buy. Lots of things that would work for stocking stuffers for girls. This Altar'd State is such a very cute place, nicely located, and they also have parking lot that is so big. The employees here are so friendly, helpful, and so nice. They will help and guide you to find all the things you need to buy. If you want something in a certain like sizes or colors, then they will give it to you right away, and even wait for you to decide what will you buy. This store is one of kind, they have so many unique things, and also items that you can only buy and see at their store. They have so beautiful style for clothes. Also their store is build amazingly. They also have jewelries that is so elegant but affordable and worth the prices. So I actually went to the store on Michigan Ave, but they are not listed on here. We were greeted by a very nice girl who shared with us the stores purpose and gave us everything we needed to know. She was fantastic. Love the store, the clothing and their philosophy. We shopped around and the gentleman (Henri) came back to let us know that there was 50% off all clearance items. So of course we stocked up on everything we wanted to buy. He even reminded my friend of the sale when she was in the change room. Get to the checkout and he informs me no, it's 30% off. I reminded him what he told me and he said no it's 30. Didn't have time to argue so just accepted his error. Well my items didn't ring up properly so he manually entered it. Only took 30 cents off, not 30%. read more

After my daughter raved and raved about this store, I went in yesterday. I love their clothes, love the decor they sell--as well as the whole concept. You really owe it to yourself to check it out. Most of the young ladies working there seemed very sweet. Unfortunately the one I decided to go to for help almost spoiled my whole experience. I realize I probably felt jolted by her lack of, well everything because I had high expectations from the gentle, God -inspired store. This young lady was a bit harsh and crass seeming--with two-toned hair that fell in what looked like greasy curls. (Unkempt for a lovely clothing store ). I smiled at her, holding a sweater and asked if she could see if they possibly had other sizes. She barely looked up and said "yea, probably not". I asked if they might be in a different section so I could look myself. (I'm still unclear why she was milling about if not for customer service ) she finally snorted "you'll have to go to the register and let THEM scan it and they can tell you . (No customer service available I guess ). I went to the register where I was greeted sweetly. She scanned the sweater and told me that yes, there were two mediums in the store . She then summoned the rude girl I first encountered, handed her the sweater and sweetly asked that she go find them, telling her of her findings when she scanned. I wasn't thrilled to be back with this girl and no surprise, she shrugged and told both of us no, probably weren't in the store anyway because their computer screws up a lot. And she was done---wouldn't even look. (Why did she tell me earlier to go get it scanned then?). In most stores the associate would have taken it to counter for me. Disappointing . She should go find a job that she can be passionate about. This soured me. The clothes are still beautiful and you can't beat their semi-annual sale. I found a sweater I liked, it was beautiful and rung up at a shockingly low discounted price! Nice! As I was exiting the store I was approached by a very sweet, accommodating girl who asked how our experience was and if we needed anything else. She actually helped my daughter with a last minute buy on our way out. I wish I had her name as she saved the whole experience for me. She has short red hair and did the store proud.
