This review is not based on the Optometrist, it is solely based on the customer service at this location. I placed an order for contact lenses which was no issue. Picked these up and decided to place a small order for the colored contact lenses. When these were ready, I went to pick them up, unfortunately, I got there 5 minutes to closing(I commute to work by train, that is the earliest I could get there that night) the girl in the front said they were closed. I left, came back sunday 12/8 at 4:25pm(closing time 5pm) again the girl was getting ready to leave and she told me she had a "family emergency", I was not assisted. Again I left and came back today 12/10 at 6:39pm(again closing time of 7pm) and no one is there. How many times will it take for me to be able to pick up the contacts? Maybe you should consider changing your business hours to accomodate the employee who clearly doesnt want to work there! read more

Bottom line - Dr. Bock & staff are great! When I arrived for my appointment, the optical department was busy but I was greeted in a friendly manner by Christina, who checked me in and then helped me look at frames for my new glasses. She was very helpful in showing me frames that were in my price range that would fit my face. The rest of the staff were friendly as well. Dr. Bock has a great "bedside" manner. He has a pleasant demeanor and took the time to listen to and address my concerns and questions. I never got the feeling that he was rushing me through the exam. My main issue at the time of my exam was that I was spending so much time looking at a computer monitor that it was affecting my vision. Dr. Bock has alot of experience in computer-related vision issues and was able to give me a new prescription that gave me much more comfortable vision! When I went back to the optical department to pick out my frame, Christina was a huge help. I was getting progressive bifocal glasses, and her knowledge of the specific lens requirements made it much easier to pick out a frame that I liked. She also explained all of the lens options instead of just trying to up-sell, so I was able to prioritize the extras that I wanted that were also within my budget. All in all, this was a very good experience. I will continue to see Dr. Bock for my eye care, and I highly recommend his services. read more

I decided to go to Dr.Bock after hearing great reviews and recommendations on yelp. I went in and was immediatly greeted by a really friendly staff. Right away Dr. Bock was finished with his previous exam and took me in right after, even before my scheduled time. Dr.Bock was really friendly and easy to talk to. He definitely knew what he was doing, I can say I've never had a better fitting prescription than now and can see really clearly and crisp. I was even gifted free trail contact lenses while my lenses came in. I definitely recommend this optical office and Dr. Bock. By far the best optometrist I've been to and wouldn't think twice in going again. The price is definitely worth the great service and amazing prescription read more

I love the Acuvue one day lenses that Dr. Bock recommended. I've been wearing contacts for many years and these are by far the most comfortable. He also suggested I get a pair of glasses to wear while I'm on the computer. They really help my eyes from being so tired at the end of a long day in front of the screen. My exam was very pleasant and Dr. Bock even threw in a few jokes. He seems like he really enjoys helping people. I will definitely recommend him to my family and friends. read more

SO here's the deal. I was down in the RIV to visit some family and desperately needed new contacts/figure out my prescription. Not only was he a blast to talk to, but even had a joke or two to throw in for a couple of brilliant rallies usually only found in hilarious sitcom escapades...Overall, he was a fantastic guy that knew what he was doing. He kept the experience fun and relaxed while giving me the best care these little eyes needed oh so badly. Thank you all for being so nice and helpful- if i could give these guys 10 stars I would. Dont go anywhere else, this place is the BEES KNEES! read more

NEVER EVER again!!! PLEASE CHECK other options. FIRST time customer here. Recently bought my son prescription eye glasses for $356 & tried to return them in the same month. The lenses were not properly made.I was told there is a 24 hr return policy. !! WHOA... After talking to the "mgr Neely" she said she couldn't refund me my $356, I was floored!! I told her I work hard for my money & how could she stand for a policy like this?? I feel robbed, disgusted, wronged & without a voice to theae big wigges people!! You are quick to take the money & unfortunately this is why maybe you have the position you have..NEVER EVER AGAIN!!! read more

The staff and doctor are very professional. The doctor's exam for both contacts and glasses are thorough and Dr.Bock answers all my questions. I never feel rushed thru the appointment either. I am an RN. My son and I have been going to Dr Bock for years now. Dr Bock assessed an unusual issue with my son's vision and we are so grateful! The staff in the front are delightfully helpful, genuine and remember us year to year. JCP sale prices are often more cost effective than our vision insurance allowance (they always compare for us without prompting). The value is indisputable. JCP also offers with their store credit card "special financing" which is same as cash over several months (check before, it's an intermittent special) so you can take advantage of that too! We have made the investment in our vision and have: indoor/night glasses, sunglasses and computer glasses. Get the computer glasses! They will change your life if you sit in front of one at work (they are not the same as your regular glasses even if they have bifocals/transition/progressives). I have always had an excellent experience at this office without exception. read more

My dog had chewed up my reading glasses and I had to have them for work. They were able to get me an appointment fast. The opthamologist was professional and helpful with a wonderful demeanor. The staff where is all very friendly and helped me pick out a frame. The funny part is she did not try to upsell me at all actually the one she kept recommending was $100 less. They had wonderful deals as well. I'm very happy with my experience today read more

Watch the very fine print in their ads -- 2 for 99$ glasses were 300$ each!!!

I would highly recommend this place especially because of Dr. Bock. He's super friendly and nice. One of the best optometrist out there. Great service from him read more

I've never written a Yelp review before I even made a account just so I could rave about this place. They are amazing here. I had a recent contact lens emergency and when the usual place I went to (LensCrafters) treated me badly I decided it was best to try a new place. I went to this jcp optical and was completely wowed by their service. Not only was the staff extremely helpful, and knowledgable but they fit me in last min, I left with trials( I had no contacts whatsoever and my rx is a very high minus), contact lens solution, eyelid wipes, basically everything you could think of. I cannot rave enough about this place. I returned today to purchase contacts, and I was in a hurry and they completely accommodated me I wasn't there long at all. I will definitely be returning and I highly recommend this location. Christina in particular is wonderful, and Dr. Boch was so kind. There was also another associate there, a young guy with glasses and a lady with long blonde hair who were also nice. Honestly they are all really great. They really know how to take care of their patients and customers here! read more

Seriously the worst customer service. It has been over a month that I went in and ordered my glasses and I haven't received anything. I call to ask what's going on, I get the run around. And now they say the are getting shipped directly to my house. How is that acceptable?? I have to try them on and see if they fit, if I like them? I will never go back, and I rather over pay anywhere else than to waste my time and money at this location. read more

He took us in right away. My eyes were a little difficult to figure out but he took his time. He explained everything he was doing and made sure i knew what was going on step by step. Dr. Bock is fantastic. I went in without an appointment and was seen almost immediately. He explained to me what optometrists look for in the photos they take of your eyes, and even showed me the detailed photos of my eyes! He was very polite and fun, and joked about that horrible machine that blows air into your eyes. He explained to me my prescription, and my pupil distance, as I was looking to purchase my frames and lenses elsewhere, Very helpful and understanding. I'm really glad I found him on yelp, and recommend him to my friends, family, and strangers as well. read more

I have VERY bad eyesight and have had a hard time finding an optometrist that knew what to do in my case, Ive even gone to an ophthalmologist and he told me my prescription was too extreme for contacts. I went to Dr. Bock and he knew EXACTLY what to do to correct my terrible astigmatism and bring my eyesight to a level Id never experienced before and I was able to use contacts. He is obviously very skilled at what he does and takes great pride in helping people see like theyre supposed to!!! I wont go anywhere else period. read more

I have been going to Dr. Bock for years for my eye exams and have been very satisfied. He really listens to and works with the customer to get the prescription just right. Over the past 3 months, the lenses in my progressive glasses have been getting messed up - it started with little sparkling spots seemingly in the lenses, and then crackling and fogging over of the lens, as if the plastic was crazed. It escalated over the past weekend, and I had to switch to my old glasses. I went to Penneys for my eye exam and showed Dr. Bock my glasses. He ended up using a lens cleaner on them and eventually everything came off! Naturally, I had been cleaning my glasses as usual (just with water), so I never thought it was merely something on the outside of the lens. He said what can happen is something like a spray can be in the air wtihout one knowing it (paint, chemicals, hairspray, etc.), perhaps near a construction site. The spray droplets can get on the glasses, and after that other things stick to them. So, instead of buying new glasses, I bought a spray bottle of lens cleaner! I wanted to share this information in case it can help someone else with the same problem. read more
