Came in to find a dress. I was able to find what I needed quickly but when I got to the register there were 15 people in line. I walked around to the other side of the store and that register was closed. One register on the whole floor or go upstairs and use the register in the hair salon. Those were my options. I left the dress and went to a different store. I'm not surprised JCPenney is having difficulty keeping stores open. They missed out on my $ today. SMH. read more

If you have an elderly member in your family, do not shop at this JCPenney. My 85 year old gradma, who is in a wheelchair asked me go shopping with her. We were told that the women's department was down stairs so I headed to the elevator not knowing it was not working. I circled around looking for someone that could guide me on where to go and no workers were around. A customer told me, that I had to go outside and down the mall elevator to get to the 1st floor. By now my gradma was upset and inpatient. We shopped and got to a cashier after more than a 20 minute wait. I asked the cashier about the elevator situation and to call a manager. The phone rang and the cashier explained the situation. I over heard the person on the other side say I dont have time to go right now have them leave me their name and number. I was so upset that we just left our purchase and walked away. The cashier said that was their store manager!! They have no common decency or respect for their customers! I went in with my wife 2/20 around 130/2pm and the store was absolutely a mess. Clothes off the racks, laying on the floor, trash everywhere just to name a few things. I was shocked because we usually shop at the Whittier and chino hills store. They are never ever like this! The store looked like a Sears store. Also very dirty. The men's restroom was horrible. I have seen gas stations cleaner than that!! The mall being ok but this store is horrible even compared to Macy's. Maybe the employees just don't care or what?? read more

I went to pick up a online order so they moved online pick up to the middle or nowhere upstairs by the photo area it used to be down stairs so I was sent to the wrong place twice by employees then I get there to online pick up and they say oh it's jewelry you have to go down stairs in jewelry omg so I go downstairs and I waited 30 minutes to get helped! The lady was ignoring me while she helped someone else I waited patiently it shouldn't take 45 min from start to finish to pick up a online order! And make it clear that if it's a jewelry purchase you pick it up in jewelry not ONLINE PURCHASE PICK UP omg ! Horrible read more

Let me start by saying we are a third generation of Jc Penny shoppers and after my Black Friday experience I doubt I will step foot in to a Jc Penny again other than to walk through to the other stores in the mall if needed. I made purchases online for Black Friday a suit for my son for Christmas and a couple of other purchases and I got the your items will be ready within 4 days I was told I would get a text letting me know when my items were available. On day 12 I decided to make some calls first to the 800 number provided where they told me they could tell my items were sent to the store but could not verify if they had been scanned in to the system by the local workers. I then attempted to call the local Montebello location and was just transferred around with no one willing to answer. I then printed out my order and drove to the location. After waiting in a long line for customer service the girl takes my list to the back where her and a group of co workers can be heard giggling and messing around. After a ten minute wait she returns and tells me they need to cancel my order as they don't have any of the items in stock. I advised them why would you sell them to me then not notify me for 12 days. She had no answer...... I then decided to go look for these items in store myself and low and behold they were in stock the staff was just too lazy to do there jobs. If you guys go out of business you have no one to blame but yourselves. read more

The associates here are RUDE ! I've worked in retail for many years and I was shocked to believe they even still had jobs . Went to the register for a price and was told to go to a scanner . No they did not have a line btw. I was in the Home Department and employees were just talking to each other while I proceeded to look for a scanner . The store is a mess I had to literally walk up over things , and it was hard to shop on the rack all the hangers were bunched up together and to top it off all with the wrong size on top . Walking through JC Penney reminds me of my good ol' high school to early high school days. I still come by, but I can't find the right section I can fully identify with. No thanks Southpole or Juniors section; I'm an early 20-something year old; I don't need jeans that show my butt crack. I did like their "working professional" section since they had a plethora of pants and dress suits; some of which were 60% off retail! They also have a nice selection of winter coats, but didn't find the need to rummage through since I have too many at home. :( I also liked their dresses, too, but couldn't find a reason why to buy. Their handbag section was more for older women (in my opinion) and there were hardly any crossbody purses! Where's the trendier purses?! No one answers the phone! You have to call the hair salon so that they physically tell the associates to answer the phone. Even corporate customer service mentioned that they have a hard time reaching this location. When I went to the store I literally asked "why don't you all answer your phones?" Got a lot of Christmas shopping done here and there were SO MANY SALES! Everyone loved their gifts and the quality of merchandise is great! They were super organized despite being bombarded with a ton of people and their registers were fast and efficient. We didn't wait in line long. Another bonus, they have BIG and TALL which is perfect for my boyfriend's dad. The only negative I have is that I wish that they had some more selections and specific brands that other department store carries. But, this particular JCPenney's has Sephora which makes up for that anyways :) Overall a good experience. read more

I came here this morning as my mom wanted to buy some after new year sale items. I was amazed to see the parking lot semi empty. Also the store were filled with little customers but more worker. Well I decided to browse around and found some nice stuff that I like and of course end up spending money, but I got what I like. There were no salesperson at the counter where I was browsing for some nice watches, and waited for about 15 mins before someone decided to show up. Jcpenny advertises the use of coupons and then limits one coupon per register.? Wow if you want good deals this places rocks! Sports wear, that really comfortable feel. In this heat wave I needed the dri fit breathable fabric. They also have really good clearance patio items. Overall Penny's is a worth checking out. We actually go on Penny's safaris . read more

Okay so yes i said this store is going downhill... But only in pricing. Now nobody told me this but if you go on the stores website, sometimes they have in store coupons that can help you save money on already on sale items or regular price goods. I purchased a black shoulder bag that was originally $70 that was on sale for $35 and then used my coupon and got it for $25!!! also if you do their survey you get a 10% coupon, but the deals on their website are so much better. If you don't use any coupons on your purchases you are wasting a lot of money. Jcpenny clothing prices are not cheap to start with, so you better take this opportunity and save, save, and save! read more

Why do I always have to feel like I'm in a Soviet bread line when I want to buy something here? While almost every employee here is kind and as helpful as can be, this store's management is a joke. Never enough registers open and the place is usually a disaster. The racks are messy and packed. Don't waste you time coming here, the store is a mess and the customer service is horrible! They have 3 registers open in the whole store with a minimum of 2 cashiers, which is ridiculous and minimum of 15 customers in each line so it's at least a 20 minute wait to pay. Since the jewelry department had 3 employees working and only one of them was assisting a guest I asked if they could ring us up and they said no so I asked her to call a manager and the manager explained to me it's just the way it is so I'd have to go wait in the long line in the women's department. Do yourself a favor and go to Brea or Whittier JCPenney where they appreciate their customers, I rarely come to Montebello and today was the perfect reminder why I don't shop here! read more

This review has two parts: salon and jewelry. Salon: My first appointment at this salon was with Cien, and she cut my hair perfectly. Looked exactly how I wanted, and didn't even take that long! I strayed recently to go somewhere closer, but learned my lesson. Will definitely be going here from now on. Jewelry: I feel terrible that I can't remember her name, but the elderly Asian lady that works this department is fantastic. She helped us with our wedding rings every step of the way, from picking out to resizing to picking up. We hadn't planned on coming here for our rings, but after a bombardment from another jeweler in the mall, I'm totally glad we did. If I ever want more jeweler I will be sure to come see her again. read more

Very disappointed after dealing with Jazmyn (Supervisor) at the Montebello Town Center Penny's. I found a cute 4th of July little girls dress on the clearance rack (it's now September). The dress did not have a clearance price on it and when the clerk attempted to find the price, it what not in the system. She called over Jazmyn whom recognized it was an online item. Even then Jazmyn was not able to find a price so she told me she would sell it to me at 50% off the retail price. The dress was cute but not worth $25.00. I really pressed for a better price but she would only give me another 10% off and it would be non-refundable. She told me she could not sell it for less. Oh please, wouldn't it have been better to discount it at a real clearance discount and make a long time customer happy. Jazmyn needs an attitude check, learn to deal with customers politely and understand that old merchandise is better sold then sitting on a rack (and no I didn't purchase the dress). read more

Selection is fantastic for the economical shopper. They are packed to the rafters with inventory! It is just too bad they don't have staff to help you bring down items from the top shelf or offer any type of assistance. The store is full of customers calling out " Hello, can someone help me?" "Where are the sales people?'" "where can I find this?" But there is no one to hear them. And then there is the cash register, one station on each floor to handle the Holiday rush... don't go on your lunch hour cuz your gonna be very late getting back to work..... Montebello stores ... from Walmart to obviously JCPenny - are geared for a third world country client. I think that 3rd worlds have better stores. Not everyone that comes to this store is trashy. People should watch their children, I think HR needs to hire better quality staff. read more

My daughter loves to buy things at this store from time to time and they send her coupons which she was able to use yesterday to get a great gift for her dad so it was pretty nice. They do carry some nice items and good labels that seem to be decent and priced on sale. This store was well organized and neat and we found everything we were looking for, i didn't think the women's bathroom was clean or kept up at all so there was a housekeeping problem in that area. but other then that this store was reasonable to shop at. read more
