I had the most INCREDIBLE experience at this store today! Before today, I did my clothes shopping 100% online. I hated shopping for clothes because I'm bigger and always had a hard time finding things. I would end up leaving stores feeling disappointed and sad. From the SECOND I walked in the door, I was greeted and felt so welcomed and accepted. I just left Torrid at Montebello Town Center and I am not walking into this store again. I got the generic greeting when I walked in, looked around for a bit. No help to be found. All girls talking at the front together. One finally came when I went towards the fitting room. I was going to buy a shirt and tights and when I walked out to pay and ask if clearance is final sale, the rep came quickly and blocked my path and said yes final sale i said "okay, hmm I'm not sure because I didnt like how they fit too much." The female associate just stood there staring at me, and I walked back to see if I found a smaller size and she followed me and stood by me waiting like if I am trying to steal. WTH? I went into Torrid about three weeks ago looking for an outfit to wear to Vegas. I was COMPLETELY lost for what kind of outfit I was looking for. I knew I wanted to look hot, but not skanky. Gracie, one of the retailers there saw I was lost, she let me rant and then helped me so much! She was efficient, kind and really listened to what I was saying even though I wasn't making complete sense. She helped me find the perfect black strapless, peplum sequined top and a jacket to go with it. I already had a pair of black pants that I knew would go perfectly with the top. Been coming here 9 years strong, and while there have been some changes, most are good! For one, can we talk about the fans in the dressing rooms? COME ON! I would avoid coming to stores to try things on because, hello, big girls like me get hot trying things on, and I always get embarrassed saying I don't want a top and hand it back with minor wet stains around the collar (eek! That was me, sorry!), but these fans are a LIFE SAVER. Something that's bugged me about the location is how the clearance racks are NEVER organized by size... There are clear labels to separate each item by size, but when I look behind size 3 tops or bottoms, I find 00, 1, 2, and a few 3's here and there. I work nearby so I'm here on an almost weekly basis, and this is ALWAYS the case. I understand customers might be to blame for the "rearranging", and it might be the OCD in me, but it makes me want to rip my hair out sometimes. read more

Best customer service I've had by far! I had bought a pair of pants a while back that had ripped before I ever put them on so I had them repaired, thinking it was just a fluke... The first time I wore them the seams around my lower legs began separating before I even left the house... I wore them anyway (because I'd paid a lot for them and I didn't want the money to go to waste) praying they wouldn't embarrass me... Why didn't I exchange them you ask? I'd thrown the receipt away since all my previous purchases had not been a problem ... Anyway, I went in at the end of the day looking to buy a new pair in hopes that they'd changed the material.. The manager Rose asked if I needed help and I explained my situation asking her to point me in the right direction... Not only did she bring me a new pair she swapped my old ones that I was still wearing for the new ones! No questions asked.... Of course I fell in love with some other items and spent a lot more than I was wanting to but Rose and her sweet team were so awesome that it didn't bother me... Thanks Rose!!!! Torrid - Women's Clothing Near Me - Montebello, California

What can I say? The clothes are mediocre and so is the service. For some reason this location seems to be very dark and a lot older than the other stores in the area since I've also been to a couple the Torrids back in the E. Coast and in the general area but THIS location did not impress me. Clothes -- So of course I will find clothes that actually fit my body shape but I'd much rather be spending else where due to the quality and style. It just isn't me! Service -- It was a weekday afternoon and I decided to peak inside to see what I can rummage through clearance. I find a top that would maybe do and as I go to the registers a petite woman that is on the phone totally ignores that I'm standing there. I am a nice person so I just assumed she didn't see me. I try to get her attention but she is still on the phone and I can tell. I decided that this is not worth tolerating so I set the item down and proceed to walk away. When I was almost out the door another sales clerk asks if I found any goodies but I mention that I wanted to purchase it but the person behind the register was ignoring me. She quickly apologizes and tells me she is sorry and if she can go ahead and ring me up. Like I said I AM A NICE PERSON so I walk back (first sales clerk STILL on the phone) and pay for the top. Lucky that the sales clerk caught me before I left or this review would have been 1 star! read more

Came here to return an online order. There was roughly 5 people in line and after waiting 10 mins I finally came up and asked to return my online order but the jackass at the register said that only the manager was allowed to process returns. I've been here 20 minutes now and the manager was looking for something for someone who had ordered something online and couldn't find it. Why she couldn't send the sales MAN to do it was beyond me. I love torrid and usually I have nothing bad to say but this visit was horrendous. I had no help with anything. Couldn't get a dressing room until someone left theirs and I asked if I could hijack it. No one asked if I needed help. And when I looked for someone to help me the woman had a face like I was hindering her. I needed a certain size pants and there was confusion on what size I actually needed and in the confusion it was like she gave up cause I never did get those particular pants nor did I see her again after. Torrid--I have a love/hate relationship with you. The quality of the clothes is not very good and you charge an arm and a leg. I really wish your the hot topic company would stop taking advantage of fashion forward chubby girls. The prices of your clothes inpire me every day to hit the gym or to not have that donut, because I don't want to rely on you for cute fashion forward clothes. One of my favorite locations. I bought my absolute favorite dress over the summer (it was brown, gold with flecks of white) and it was onsale so that only made it better. I used to mainly shop at the Westfield Santa Anita store, but since it closed, the next closest one is in the Montebello Shops. I always liked and appreciated the way I was helped by all associates at the Santa Anita store. Now in Montebello, I've been in twice in the last month or so and the only employee to really be helpful when I went in on one occasion was Michael, he even offered to look up my haute cash by email if I didn't have mine with me. But once I was at the register I was helped by Jasmine, she didn't even offer to look up by email even after I said I didn't have my haute cash with me. I had to LET HER KNOW, that Michael did offer and she was like "oh" as if it was such hard labor to look up. Second visit, once again Jasmine helped at register and there was a BOGO 50% sale and she didn't even remind me or mention that that sale was going on. I had 3 items and was only able to take advantage of the sale for one of the items, when I could've taken a 4th item and receive a discount on it too. Didn't realize until after I left and checked receipt the BOGO 1/2 sale was applied to one of the items and why I then knew that sale was on. read more

I hate to leave negative reviews and I especially hate to leave one for a Torrid a facility since I love their clothing, but I found the staff not to be helpful at all and caught them in lies. I went in to try and exchange a pair of shoes. Their shoe sizing runs big by the way. They didn't have the size I needed, so she offered to look it up at another store. Unfortunately the stores that had them are too far away. I asked if she could have them sent to this store and she said no because they have inventory for 2 weeks. That was also her reason as to why she couldn't let me order them online from the store so I can do an in-store exchange. I used to work retail so I completely understand. I was willing to wait 2-3 weeks. I asked if she would check stores in another area and she said she couldn't because the internet was down. The girl next to her offered to go online and check something for another customer and the internet worked fine for her! lie #1. When I said I would have to order the size I needed online, she interrupted me and in a nasty voice said that they had been sold out online for months as she has just checked..... She was pushing me to just exchange them for another pair. I went online on my phone and say that they do indeed have the size I needed in stalk. I was so mad. lie #2 I assumed she was having a horrible day and decided to forget the incident. A sweater ordered online was really big, even though I normally wear that size. I went back to the store to exchange it, but they don't sell it there. Same lady, same issues. She said they don't have the size I need online either and that I should exchange in-store for something else. I told her I was 100% sure they have the size I need online and pulled it up on my phone.She made a quip that I should measure myself before ordering. She was obviously annoyed. Most of my wardrobe comes from torrid and most of the time their clothing is true to fit, but sometimes a products runs bigger. From now on my friends and I will be taking our business to other torrids. I spend waaaaay too much money on their products to be treated this way. I've been to a lot of these stores, but MB is the nicest. The clothes are the same but the Customer Service is great. We all are human and have our off days. But the staff will always tries to help you. The manager(s) (Lilly) are terrific, even when something goes wrong, they direct the staff to remain calm . Clearance is awesome! I came here in search of a pair of curvy jeans, since I've shopped at Torrid before I knew what I was looking for. I was never once greeted let alone asked if I needed help. When I did need help I had to go search for someone, the manager (I assume) was very rude when I asked about a certain promo that was advertised and I couldn't even get eye contact from him just a simple "No" but in a rude/ blunt way. The gentleman is still working there but I have to say that he is much kinder and I could have just caught him on a bad day the previous time. We are all human ^__^ This torrid has always been my favorite! I worked here for SO many years after graduating and it's good to see that the store is still being kept up in great condition. TONS of selection to choose from. Always friendly service! The last few times I went in their clearance section was on point! Came here about a month ago after visiting the Glendale location & received horrible service there I called this Torrid & received excellent customer service from a young lady named Andrea I asked her if she had such a swimsuit in a certain color she put me on hold for a short time and returned with great news and said yes we do I said I have one I want to exchange, she gladly said she could hold it for me. Arrived & this location is amazing & way bigger than Glendale. I was greeted right away & Andrea became my "stylist". I was there for an hour & she was showing me tons of outfits. Really great customer service. I explained I wanted to exchange my items from Glendale with the new items there. She called out the manager, I don't remember her name but she has pastel blue hair-She was incredibly sweet with me & took her time to do the exchange. I had gotten approved for a store credit card @ the Glendale location so I guess that deal was to get $50 off with $100+ purchase but that's only for opening a new card so the manager said she couldn't do it I said that's fine. In the end she ended up giving me the $50 off anyways!!!! Perfect!!! Then I tried on a cute pair of skinny jeans & I liked it way more than I liked the top I had just gotten moments ago. So the manager had to come back and do ANOTHER exchange for me, still without hesitation! She was great about it. No attitude here they treat you great, definitely a complete different experience than at Glendale. I even told them what happened and they were all apologetic about someone else's mistake that they had absolutely nothing to do with. Mind you, I was at this store for about an hour & was not left alone for a minute. Andrea even waited outside the fitting room with me to check out the clothes I was trying on so she could give me her opinion etc. amazing!!!! Will definitely come back & it's worth the drive. Customer service goes a long way even if Glendale is 5 minutes down the street from me I would rather drive 30 mins to this place because of the customer service. Had a great shopping experience thanks to Jessica and the manager, I'm sorry I forgot your name. From the moment we stepped into the store, Jessica helped us out, felt like our own personal shopper. The store is in a temporary location for a minute so everything was not necessarily where I would look so I was happy for the help. My 16 yr old is not a shopper but she took to Jessica and had THE BEST EXPERIENCE. We needed different styles, different sizes and there were only 2 dressing rooms but Jessica made it all happen. I am a platinum member and I shop on a regular basis with Torrid hence platinum status. I went in looking for a specific top when I asked there was another customer looking for the same top. I know my sizes so I asked for the one in my size before the other customer but she gave it to her. I knew what I wanted when I walked into the store. I planned on spending $100 to get $30 off. I ended up leaving because it was the last one in size 2 and they were sold out online. I attempted to find something else but I believe their stock is low because they are in a temporary store. I may or may not go back but if I do it's only to be helped by Lily. She is spot on every time. She offers her name for more help. Makes suggestions. Torrid Is a great store, for those of us plus size ladies, that want to dress better then the typical Left over fabric clothes that others sale for our size. I go to this store all the time (6 year overall torrid shopper) They go from size 12 to 26. They have great fabric, meaning wont tear apart on the first or 50th wash! They have wide assortment of styles and such, so your not stuck to flowers all your life! lol Dont forget to check it online ever so often they sometimes have online only stuff that are great!!
