Today is Aug 29, 2024. We returned an item for store credit to customer service. Rita J. Was very helpful and polite. Rita even recommended the Fresh Scents 3 pk that we ended up loving and purchasing. There were lots of choices, reasonably priced at 6.99 for a 3 pk. We also found very soft Arizona mens tees in lots of colors downstairs for 10$. This was a great price so we bought one of those also. I'm in a wheelchair so the fact that the store is organized and easy to get around is crucial. Even the other customers were helpful and polite enough to hold doors and elevators for us. I was on my way upstairs to use the restroom I had stopped to asked the lady in the jewelry department for a bag because I was going to Change, my granddaughters dirty diaper so common courtesy get the diaper throw in a bag right!!? Today, as I was walking past the department, I overheard the manager speaking very rudely to her employees. This is not the first time I have witnessed this behavior. After she finished being disrespectful to her staff, I asked the employees for her name, and they told me it was Katie. I believe this type of management is highly unprofessional, and JCPenney should investigate her conduct. Managers should always treat their team with politeness and respect. If a manager needs to address an issue with an employee, it should be done privately in an office, not in front of customers. read more

My fiance and I bought wedding rings at their jewelry department and let me just say their jewelry sucks. We went to their fine jewelry department for a set of rings for us, we got married November 16th 2023. Mine didn't even last 4 months. In the first month a stone fell out of hers and then a month ago a stone fell out of mine, and just now it broke! That was the last straw, so here I am. Their jewelry is complete junk! Absolutely horrible customer service. I went in to another location who didn't have the dress size I needed. They told me it would be transferred to this location by May 31, 2024 (it's June 2nd as I'm writing this). I went in and waited for about 30-40 minutes for them to tell me they didn't have it and it actually got delayed until June 5. I never received an email telling me it was delayed and everyone there was absolutely clueless about what to do. The lady told me that they don't email people to let them know there's been a delay too. Like what? They just apologized and said there's nothing they could do. Awesome place to get affordable suits and coordinating pieces. They always have sales and coupons online. I got 70% off of my purchase and going to look fly on my interview tomorrow. They have a decent selection of plus size pieces too that are nice looking, professional, non mumu/tents. They look presentable. If you, like me, have put on the Covid 19+ *wink wink* One star off for the inoperable HVAC system. I mean it took me about 20ish minutes round trip, but I was fully drenched in sweat when I left. That is just inhumane for your team members. The workers I interacted with were amazingly helpful and pleasant, even though it was at least 90 degrees inside. read more

I placed an order from their website a couple weeks ago which I've done before I would've normally had them shipped to my home this time I decided to try pick up. I hadn't heard from them about my order that was supposed to arrive on Wednesday last week so I was in the area and I decided to drop in and see if it was in. it wasn't of course and I was told that it would be the following Tuesday. While I was in the store, I was told that the elevators weren't working, nor were the escalators... what?? on top of that the pick up area is upstairs. The clerk told me that I could be shown how to get upstairs. I declined because I have a bad knee and I didn't feel like walking up the escalator, which doesn't seem very safe. the clerk, a very nice lady proceeded to ask me if I had a JCPenney credit card. I told her no and that I didn't want one. She continued badgering me to get the credit card. I flat out said no several times. I asked her how long it would be before the elevators and escalators would be fixed and she said very soon. there was another shopper in the store. I think we were the only ones in the entire store and she whispered to me as I passed that they been broken for quite a while. when I got home, I discovered that I had a voicemail from JCPenney, and that my order was indeed in the store I waited a few days to go pick it up because I didn't want make a trip back. When I went back to pick up my order, my husband went with me and I asked him if he would go upstairs and get my order. The elevator still wasn't working, so she one of the clerks escalator that was working going up so he went up the working escalator, got my package and then he asked her where he could go back downstairs. He didn't know where it was and she said oh just right around the corner, so he goes around the corner and yes, there is a down escalator, however, it wasn't working He is having issues with a knee and he had to walk down the escalator, when he got back to me he was grimacing with pain because it hurt his knee. Needless to say, I'm not going back there and if I do order anything I'll have it shipped to my home, in the meantime, I bought some thing and the same clerk as before started badgering me to get a credit card again I just said no I don't want it and she continued ranting about how much money I could save blah blah. I turned around and left. I believe this store, along with the entire mall will be closing. That's a shame. read more

We purchased a power XL smokeless grill ( large in size ), and we were searching for clothes and requested at the billing desk named Karina to keep it for 5 minutes in the desk. She said that once you purchase it, we can't keep it, JCPenney should know customer relationships. I found what I was looking for, so two stars for that. Lots of pretty dresses and a lot of fitting rooms and they don't require a rubber glove exam to enter them. That's good too. My biggest complaint: GET PRICE CHECK MACHINES. What the heck JCP??? Are you trying to compete with target or are you just giving up? I probably would've gotten a sweater that I liked if I'd know the other two pieces I bought were marked down. But you have to stand in line just to get the price. Which means long lines because no one knows what the final price is, it's got ten tags on it with ten prices, or no tags at all, just a bar code. And the poor cashier has a giant pile of clothes behind her that people had hoped were on sale but they weren't. This place is a mess. Circling the drain and that makes me sad. read more

I like to shop at JC Penney for clothes, shoes and jewelry. I came here with a $10 voucher if you spend $30. I actually spent more than that. I ended up buying a dress that was on sale for $20, a charm bracelet, and some candy for my daughter. The whole store had a sale. So much to choose from. The store had a lot of items on sale if you look hard enough. As I brought my items to the register, checking out was easy. The cashier was nice and rang me up quickly. Line went fairly fast. If you have a JC Penney card, you can save lots of money with their coupons. I realized this store also has a Sephora which I like because some malls don't even have Sephora which is a make up store. I was so tempted to buy but it will just have to wait until next time. I definitely liked the items here. The second level was the kids and home department and there were exits all around the store. I used to enjoy this store. I went yesterday and it was so changed. Someone shouted hello the minute I stepped in and it was not genuine, it was obligatory. The clothes are not the same quality and sizing was off. I wanted to purchase two blouses and one didn't have a tag. The salesperson tried to find it on the computer and after taking a long time, I said forget it. I bought three items and she left the hangers on all of them...I had held up the line for so long I just left. Quality lacks and then everyone was walking around on cell phones. Ridiculously this new culture that everyone thinks is so hip. Upon leaving, another person was shouting hello to someone else and I just thought it ridiculous because it's so fake. JCP needs to get a clue...the old guard doesn't want false respect, cheap seconds clothing or high prices for junk. read more

JCP is still decent even though you can find better brands at Macy's for a cheaper price. The employees are somewhat helpful but I noticed some employees ignoring another employee. To me it seemed like they did that because she didn't look like them. I know its 2015 and we're not in the south but something about this situation didn't seem right. Well anyway JCP does have some major deals and usually they will have a huge clearance section. The Sephora is a nice size and the girls are pretty helpful and have a decent amount of make-up on. He was able to develop a plan to help her get her hair into shape and shared with her the knowledge she needs to get to the place of her final result. Extremely disappointed in the staff. I took my child to JC Penny Fletcher Parkway to get her her some much needed clothing. She had grown out of what she had. It was disappointing that there was no dressing room for the children. We had to carry everything downstairs (without a bag or cart) to the adult fitting room. As we approached the fitting room, the staff member commented that we could only take in 8 items. This was not ideal since my child needed an entirely new wardrobe and I had about 40 items. Due to the circumstances, I asked her who will bring us our items and get us different sizes (remember children's Dept. is upstairs and I can't leave a young child alone in the dressing room). She stated, "you have to get it yourself". At this point I was a bit peeved. She began to give me explanations that made no sense. I received the following comments, "we don't work for the government", "those are the rules", "you can't take more than 8 items because the clothes pile up in there and it's a lot for us [employees] to put away". I became tired of the excuses and asked for a manager. I was told that there was no manager and the employee is the supervisor. Of course I didn't want to talk to her. The employee then offered another supervisor who is the same level as her. I declined and decided I could write to JC Penny Customer Relations. As I was figuring out what to do, I notice other people walking into the dressing rooms and not one word was being said to them. At that point I felt that we were being singled out. We eventually got into a dressing room. I had to make numerous trips in and out to get items for my child to try on. As I did, I overheard the staff complaining and commenting on the number of items they have to put away. At this point I was not happy with the unprofessional behavior. Not to mention it was ridiculously hot in the dressing room (no or low AC/ventilation). When we were done, we went back upstairs to the children's department to exchange sizes and check out. The gentleman at the register was extremely nice/pleasant and let me know that there was an acting manager on duty. Funny, how I received a different story downstairs. We won't be shopping there again! Staff in the women's Dept deserves zero stars! I'm giving 2 stars because the staff upstairs & in children's dept. were nice and delightful. To the rest of the JC Penny employees, if you don't like people, have no customer service skills, or dislike your job, then get a new one!!!! Not a bad JCPenney. I have always been a fan of Penney's since you can literally buy everything you may need and the prices are always great. This most recent trip I went to purchase a new purse with a gift card I got for Christmas. The purses were 40% off so I knew I could get a good deal and although the purse was still a bit expensive, it was worth it. The last purse I got from Penney's last 2 years of every day use. You can always go on their website and look for coupons and I highly suggest it so you can continue to find great deals. I also got $10.00 off of my purse on top of the 40% off. The store can get a bit messy because it is so large but I just suggest you be a kind shopper. It is never okay to wreck a table of folded shirts to find the one you want and then after you look at it throw it on the table. It takes a lot of work to keep a store clean and presentable and when customers think they don't have to be polite and respectable it is even harder to keep a store clean. A few months back I purchased $320 worth of make up from Sephora. Because I live in Ramona I don't come down the hill very often but Friday I tried to go in and exchange an item and return a $15 item. The lady behind the counter told me I could not do it because it was over 60 days ago. That may be their policy but it should be changed, not to mention the dirty nasty look on that girls face. This is why department stores will eventually be nonexistent because millennial's have no clue what customer service is. Got my waist length hair cut at the salon by Thompson. She said she had 10 years experience but she completely ruined my hair. I asked for layers and a trim and even showed a picture, but she cut too much depth out from layering leaving the bottom scraggly thin. My hair is short then long. Now I have to cut more length to fix it. I should've left when I saw the left over red hair in her brush and the terrible shampoo she gave me. I will never come here or to any JCPenney salon again. The store is a maze making it impossible to find things, they have no signs explaining where things are, even at the escalators, and it took forever trying to find a cash register. This review is specifically for the portrait studio. Horrible, horrible HORRIBLE service! Made an appointment for 6pm, wasn't seen until well after 7pm. Only one person working this entire studio by herself is absolutely ridiculous. I have two sleepy, cranky, hungry children who want to go home and no longer have perfect hair and clean faces for pictures. I will never come here again. Don't waste your time or your money.
