This review is strictly for the SEPHORA inside of JCPenney... I tried to return an item that I no longer had the receipt for. I did, however, provide my Beauty Insider account info at the time of purchase so it was in my purchase history. The woman at the counter (there was just one associate and I wish I had remembered to take down her name, but I did see she had way too much work done on her face) basically told me she could not help me if I didn't have the receipt or card I used to make the initial purchase. I specifically asked if she could pull up the purchase using my Beauty Insider account and she refused. I didn't realize until later that JCPenney's return policy clearly states she could have and should have used my Beauty Insider account to find I purchased the item. In conclusion, I'm beyond disappointed I wasted my lunch hour going there and she was too lazy to help me. read more

Ashley in the salon is amazing and does a fantastic job! She's given me the Olaplex treatment, a blowout and a haircut twice now. I have long, hip-length hair so it took about three to four hours each visit and she was so patient the entire time. She's knowledgeable and great at talking through what style you want done. Both visits she's turned my frizzy wavy/curly hair into soft, easy to manage hair. Love it! Also, I had my eyebrows recently done by Sandra. Another great experience! The waxing was not painful at all and she really listened to what I asked for. She was very detailed and my eyebrows turned out great! read more

I really want JC Penney to survive. There's rarely a time I go in there looking for something specific where they didn't let me down. Today, I needed a new suit, and quickly. Checked out Macy's which had some decent ones, but I actually thought Penney's had a better selection with a little more pizazz. They had the size I needed, and it was 50% off. The suits were fairly well organized. Sizes are always messed up so you can never trust the size ring. The dress shirts though - wow - what a mess! This was 10:30am on Monday morning in May and you would have thought Black Friday was the day before. Nothing was organized. I was literally digging through piles looking for me size. And I'm not joking - digging through piles. The employee at the register was super nice and extremely pleasant. It's honestly because of her, and the fact they had a nice suit, is why they've earned 4 stars today. Now, I know labor is expensive, but keeping the store shoppable needs to be a priority to stay afloat. I might have purchased more shirts if I could have found them. read more

I use JcPenney because their coupons and store cash back honestly can't be beat, especially when it comes to home appliances! They have also really improved their office wear for women...I never thought I would be purchasing clothes, but here I am. I order online and pick up in-store to save on shipping prices. I try and park in the back entrance across from Nordstrom, and head downstairs for JCP online pickup. This review particularly goes out to Bradley and Atzhiri for their customer service. Bradley was swamped with two elderly ladies who had a million questions about shipping, coupons, discounts, etc and held up the line for an unreal amount of time. He was so kind and patient to them. I have no clue how he kept his cool. Atzhiri kept the remaining line's customers filing in and out as quick as possible and had a huge smile and was so kind. It seems they're understaffed down there but those two really kept it together. Props to them! read more

This store is just ok. Not as big as others in the area and therefore not as well stocked. It is often a mess, especially on major holiday and sale weekends. They are in the process of remodeling which might help things out. They've added a Sephora and are reorganizing the layout of the store. Looks a lot cleaner, but so far that's just the look. Brighter as well. Lines for checkout are always long here too. But, I am glad to have a JCP near us! I've been to worse locations, but this one could use some management help. read more

Ugh, shopping at JCPenney ignites the inner struggle. Choose lower quality in order to pay lower prices?! Is it really worth it or will replacing those items over time prove to be cost ineffective? Their bras, undies, shirts, jeans all wear out extremely fast. My guesstimate is within 6 months after purchase. Bleh! I brought my dad to this location for some after Christmas shopping. Sales were decent, but I should have used coupons. PRO TIP: Go online to their website while waiting in line to find savings Not my typical JCPenney so I don't know the layout but it seemed like there was only one register open on the first floor. So of course, the line was backed up to men's underwear. We turned the corner and found a lonely employee with no line. He helped us out just fine. read more

Toni from the Salon is great hair dresser. I always leave the salon feeling my beast when she does my hair.

Great service today from Briana, she helped me pick out a beautiful watch for my husband. Super helpful, friendly and cared about my request, showed me 3 awesome watches. THANK YOU!!! read more

I always loved Jcpenney's! I loved it next to sears, unfortunately they're gone now..I'm not a big fan of Macy's..I loved both because of their classic and old school retro styles..I always loved the St johns bay and Arizona brands especially because they are also classic style, old school and timeless...and most of the time 100% cotton, which is important to me. Please never stop making these awesome shirts, especially the polo shirts, plaid and flannel ones! I miss the classic microfiber jackets you had, (dad, grandpa style)..the Hawaiian shirts are good too. Also would be cool if you created high waist relaxed and regular fit jeans too in the near future. Thank you for your awesome products! read more

Would not shop at any other JCPenney. In a time of Crisis the JCPenney staff was extremely helpful and supportive. Big kudos to Lucy the Manager who took control of the situation with poise and resolve. As a father I will never forget how helpful you and your staff were. Besides the excellent customer service Incredible deals are to be had. I will not go anywhere else for Nike Apparel and dress shirts for work. read more

My first experience going to JCPenney was going with my grandma back in 1958 & her telling me don't tell your grandpa!!! So JCP has redeemed itself since they tried to go the Forever 21 route which was an EPIC fail! -___- So they've gone back to their old ways and that's just the way I like it! I'm a basic girl when it comes to shopping, I like loose comfy V-necks and comfy pants, I'm not into the frilly hoochie clothes at ALL! I've been putting off buying new clothes for a long time because I dread it but my mom finally forced me to do it! A few days ago some good coupons came in the mail and I was able to use ALL 3 of them! I found so many good deals! I stocked up on my vnecks, replaced the undies that my dog ate -__- and some comfy pants all for $70.00! My coupons + rewards points came in handy! Not to mention the nice supervisor Ryan that helped us with our transactions! I left a happy camper and is my go to spot since the Orange location doesn't have enough clothes to me -___- I'm a fan! ^__^ read more

One of their bigger stores with a nice selection, but their prices aren't the cheapest for all JC Penney's Ive been into, however, its in a very nice mall(the Brea Mall) , the prices are reasonable and selection is EXCELLENT. YAY I AM A FAN OF THIS JC PENNEY! Probably the best JC PENNY in OC read more

This is for the Sephora not JcPenny department store itself. The girls are insanely rude. I don't know if they have me confused with someone they hate but they are so mean to me. They basically run me out of there. I had to call and complain to corporate. One of the girls kept saying she remembered me? I was like wtf are you talking about? I'm literally just buying something and leaving. I know drive to main place mall cause I can't stand it here. read more

If I could leave ZERO STARS I would. My boyfriend and I came in here on Thursday to purchase an outfit for a wedding we will be attending. I waited outside for him and once he tried everything on we put everything back on the hangers. Then an asian woman with short wavy black hair, red turtleneck and black pants (we didn't get her name but I wish we would have) came in and rudely grabbed the items he was going to purchase. He told her those were the ones he was taking and she stormed out of there. Next, we were looking for a belt and I looked up and she angrily stared us down. I don't know who made this woman's day so terrible but that's no way to treat customers. I personally won't be returning here. read more

Watch for the sale prices on men's t-shirts and accessories. Sometimes you can find some good deals if you look for them. There are only 2 checkout registers on the first floor so the lines can be long and the service very slow. If you have any questions about the clothes, don't expect help from the employees. There aren't any available. read more

JCPenney - Department Stores Near Me - Brea, California

See all

I think JCPenney is a good one. It is a Department store. The interior is good. There is clothing.

Placed an order online on 9/1. On 9/4 my credit card was charge and I received a notification that my item had shipped. The UPS number given was not recognized by UPS???? I called JCPenney 9/15 and asked where my item was. They told me to allow 5 to 10 business days after it was shipped to be delivered. I called back today on 9/20 which actually was 11 business days since it was shipped but I was told that they were unable to process my refund. I am supposed to call back tomorrow because now it takes 12 business days before they can refund me??? So the rules changed.. not to mention I can order online and they can take payment.. .but they may not be able to deliver the order or process my refund. If I call back tomorrow without success, the Better Business Bureau will be getting a formal report! read more

I am quite impressed with this location! I don't know when the last time I was at this store, but I liked what I saw. I forgot how awesome the sales are here, especially on jewelry and clothes. I ended up picking up some nice house slippers and Hello Kitty socks. read more

I love JCPenney. I do most of my shopping online since you get better deals and they offer free shipping. I had to come here a couple times due to having to return a defective item. Both visits everyone I dealt with in the Home Department online pick up area were very friendly. Both employees made it a hassle free experience. I was just bummed I ended up having to return my item since both times it was defective. read more

This is a very nice JCPenney! I travel to Brea frequently for work and enjoy shopping in this store. I came here becuase I had ordered a few items that didn't work for me so I took them to the store to return them. Megan helped me at the catalog department and was super nice and friendly. Great experience! read more

Was trying to exchange some clothes I bought online. Was directed to go "downstairs" when all I wanted to do was am exchange. Manager ended up coming to help the employee who didn't speak English very well. Manager was extremely helpful and directed me to other options. Ended up going downstairs to return and then repurchase my clothes online with free shipping for the same awesome price I bought the first clothes for. Women at the online pick up counters were very nice and sweet. Shopping experience was quick and quiet. read more

Love this jc penny since it's so neat and organized. I normally don't shop here but since my mother loves this store, I. Came to find her an outfit. They had a big selection to choose from and I actually had a hard time just picking out one outfit since I found so many nice things. I love the sales they have on juniors, really good deals. This was actually the only place where I found white nylons. I looked every where glad I didn't have to order them online. Customer was also very helpful. I can't remember the girls name that was helping me but she was a great person that had sincere suggestions about what I was trying to pick out for my mother. Her name stated with an F and was a little older. If you have any questions I highly recommend to go to her lol. Will be coming back to this location :) read more

They only have one person working as a cashier on the whole bottom floor. No sales associates to help. No wonder this place is losing so much money and customers! read more

Had excellent customer service from a man named Amin in the men's department. My boyfriend and i went to pick out a dress shirt and he made the experience very enjoyable and easy. Was searching for jewelry to go with my outfit for a wedding I was attending. I managed to find the perfect necklace after scrounging through the jewelry department. Unfortunately, the necklace came in a set with a pair of earrings which were missing. The other available set was broken. The missing earrings weren't a big deal because I wear 00g plugs, however, I didn't want to be charged full price for items that were missing. Thankfully Helen from the jewelry department was able to help me out and discount the product. I left a happy customer :) only taking off one star for the fact that one piece of iewelery was broken and the other was missing part of the set. Decent experience otherwise. read more

Jazmyn is the best, great customer service and showed me great deals online! She needs a promotion or something for being so kind and helpful! read more

My wife stopped at this location today to purchase some women's clothing. She waited in line for 15 minutes while the cashier worked on accepting some coupons. When the checker was through with the coupons the customer took another 20 minutes while the checker looked up items in the catalog. Customers behind my wife had left already. Another checker should have been called obviously there wasn't much concern for customer satisfaction. read more

Don't do the FREE jewelry cleaning!!!!! They took forever then handed me my engagement ring (from Zales, Celebration Grand) with a missing diamond Good thing I noticed it before I walked out of the store.... The ladies did find my diamond in the cleaning container or whatever they used... But now I have to take it back to Zales to get it fixed, they did offer to send it back to their fixing place but I rather take it where my fiance purchased it read more

There photo studio is understaffed, unorganized and unprofessional. We had an appointment @5pm and wasnt seen until 7pm. The whole time they kept telling us we would be seen shortly. We will never return here for anything! read more

If I can give them no stars I would. Staff was disrespectful and racist. Cashier attempted to ignore two sets of customers to "help" the third person in line because they were not minorities. I called to complain three times, no one ever called me back. Never giving them any of my pennies. read more

Blown away by their amazing Black Label suiting selection and quality, but only at this specific store. Beats the quality of Ann Taylor, Macy's and Nordstrom. The regular pricing including the the holiday savings this weekend allowed me to purchase 12 complete suits for work for less than I could buy three suits at Macy's. I am over the moon and I could not believe I was inside a JC Penny. I had not been to a JC Penny since I was 10. This is definitely not my mother's JC Penny, that is for sure. WOW!!! read more

Large store. Had no problems finding what I was looking for.

JC Penney Salon at Brea is fantastic. We were recommended Alex M. to color and style our daughters hair. I was so nervous and she just calmed me down so quick. She is amazing and talented. Our daughters hair is incredible. Alex took her time and talked me through everything. She was so gentle with our daughter that I can't wait to go see her myself to transform this ladies hair. I would recommend Alex to anyone and everyone.... read more
