I am writing this review because I wanted to express how much I appreciate the customer service at this location. Working in management for another company, I really admire when an employee goes above and beyond to make customers feel valued. This store does exactly that. Every inquiry I have regarding a product, they have answers and even go out of their way to locate the item at another store. They interact with me and my family and they remember us every single time. I walk into the mall and head over. I purchase something almost every single time because they CARE about their job and they are extremely knowledgeable about each item, type of leather as well as other options for items. Today I had the pleasure of meeting the manager of this location and I expressed to them how much I love their service and I wanted to make sure I expressed the same appreciation here. This is the only store that brings me to the Brea mall. I had trouble finding the location using the mall directory it showed a downstairs space but the store is upstairs and a different wing then the info on Simon Malls maps. In Dec I can to try a pair of slip ons and the salesperson offered an extra 10% off if that helped motivate me at all. I recently got orthotics and found I can't wear half of my shoes if I use the orthotic. I needed a good shoe and made a trip to Brea mall again. This time I had no idea what style I should be looking at, I probably tried on 10 pairs of boots. The sales person helping me was telling me how Dr Martens have great insoles but I stopped him and said my problem is high arches that only some people understand and he said he has the same problem. I was really happy I could share with him how orthotics have stopped all my foot pain and i was trying on so many shoes because one thing I found was Drs that treat this condition only listed about 4 shoes recommendations. I really wanted to expand on what brands people can shop for online in case they don't have a Brea mall nearby. read more

This review is solely based on the customer service i received, i didn't buy anything - but will most likely be going back. I went in early Thursday morning with the intention of trying on some boots for size. Since I heard that they run big. The associate that helped me (didn't catch her name but she has a bridge/Earl piercing) greeted me and brought out a pair of 1490 (10 eyelet) and 1b99 (14 eyelet) to try on. I normally wear a size 11 but a size 10 fit perfectly! She let me know that it's normal for them to fit a big snug near the top of the foot and around the toes. The boots tend to stretch out after breaking in. She also let me know that they do honor the 10% discount you get online when you subscribe. I didn't buy anything, but I'm debating going back for the 1b99. read more

My friend gave me a pair of docs as present and I visited Brea location to exchange for a different size. From my experience, I felt very uncomfortable when I needed to give my friends' name and last name AND call the location where my friend originally purchased them for me to execute the exchange. Im a shop manager at retail store and price matching does not require such a process. I mentioned I was ready and the manager on duty ignored me and proceeded to help someone who literally cut the line in front of me even after I said I was ready to be helped. There was an attitude and such a facial expression of "I don't want to do an Exchange". Once the exchange was executed, I didn't even get a paper bag offered and the manager made a discomfort gesture when I asked for one. I am so thankful for how understanding and helpful they were (using they pronoun bc I forgot to ask) but they were very set on insuring the shoes fit comfortable and secure. My daughter & I were excited to visit this store it's come a long way. When I bought my 1st pair of Dr. Martens it was sold in a tiny store with an electric chair as a prop. Now, mainstream mall. Worst Customer Service. 1 girl at the door. 3 hanging out in the middle of store chatting to each other. Um,, hello I need you to help fit the boot. This is not my job to lace the entire boot. the girl was adamant for us not to try the size up. We need a reference. But, why are the sizes US not UK? Unfortunately I need to give this store a rating of one star. This location doesn't deserve a star at all. I have had two bad experiences in the past 6 months. I was even hesitant to walk in this second time. I decided to give the store a second chance. Sadly they failed customer service AGAIN. As a corporate manager the staff/team at this location needs a lot of training on customer service. What a disappointment! The staff is very transactional and seems like they do not care about their customers needs. Whoever is hiring and training needs to be fired. First and foremost, Amanda was awesome so you people on here putting her on blast are trippin! Here is my experience. I purchased a pair of the OG's made in England. Those fuckers hurt to break in and after months they were still busting my feet open. I called the Brea Mall location and spoke to Jason (manager) who was knowledgeable and helped me out. Upon arrival, Jason immediately greeted me and acknowledged that I was the person who called earlier. Brought me to the counter where Amanda helped me out as well. Mind you I didn't have my receipt and she asked if I knew exactly when I purchased the items. As I scrolled through my bank history, Amanda found it before I did. She then persisted on helping me find the right pair for my feet. Not only was she knowledgeable but she was patient and did everything she could to help me. At the end, I got a pair that feels awesome with some socks and a great experience. Amanda and Jason were awesome! Upon entering I was greeted by Linda, since the hello she was absolutely amazing! Genuinely interested in helping and making sure I got exactly what I wanted. My wife and I went into the store in the evening looking to purchase her first pair of Docs. Knowing very little about the shoes (other than that they're super cool) store employee Ricky sensed this and lended much needed assistance. Not only did he give us a run through of the store and various styles of shoes, he asked us about our day, what we do, and got to us as people! He was very kind to us and treated us like human beings, and vice versa. He was very patient and offered key insight into shoe options that can accommodate my wife (as her feet are tiny). Horrible customer service period. I'm really disappointed in this company and this location. I called to make sure I could bring back a pair I bought online for a different size. The lady asked me what type so I told her and she said they had them.. but when I drove 30+ miles to the store they said they didn't carry my type... it's all because of a yellow stitching vs black stitching which I was not asked over the phone. They treated me horrible and didn't offer any type of help or solution. I wanted to buy another pair but I refuse to give this location my money. read more

My husband and I went to the store to see if by any chance we could exchange some boots my husband got a few months ago. These boots were cutting into him very bad to the point he would bleed. He had no receipt and couldn't remember what month exactly we purchased them. Upon arrival, Jason received us very friendly and with great attitude. Then Amanda took over and stated we need a receipt to do an exchange. We told her where we purchased and approximately when. We proceeded to look through bank statements for proof of purchase. After a few mints Jason asked a question of our receipt. Long story short Amanda was able to go back on the system and found the receipt making our shopping experience extraordinary and easy. Jason helped my husband find a different pair of boots and Amanda was so pleasant and friendly in helping us with our return. I was in there a week ago looking for shoes for a photo shoot and wasn't really sure what to go for. One of the associates there Jacob came up to me and helped me figure everything out from the style I wanted to go for to the size I needed and was overall really helpful. He even suggested it would be cool to match with my girlfriend so I ended up getting her a pair as well. Overall experience there was really good and everybody there has great customer service. I visited the store to purchase navy boots. Me and my sister walked in. We were not greeted. I asked the girl that she had a 1460 smooth leather size 11 she went she picked up a light blue boot. I told her I needed navy and she picked a patent leather (like she didn't quite understand) I said no it's regular leather. Then another associate said "we don't have that color here" I said "it was on the website and I also went to the store in Ventura and they had it, I thought all stores would" she then snapped and said "just because Ventura has it doesn't mean we have it" and on the website they sell discontinued and sale items" I said "it wasn't on sale" then she said "well we don't have it" so I then told my sister let's go and I left. She was so rude to be in the store where the shoes cost $100 she needs to work on her customer service skills. I didn't get her name but, she was a kinda of tall girl with brown hair, The initial girl was a little shorter and her hair was blonde and this was Saturday the 21st in the afternoon.
