Stopped in to find baby girl's best friend a gift for his Birthday. Since he just started baseball, what a better gift than a new glove? The employee's here are very friendly and helpful. It wasn't that busy but we walked around the store to see what else they had. It's a nice store, they have the outdoors equipment that you could need or want. Asked for help to try to find a broken in glove for him but they had no idea what we were talking about. So we got the one that his dad showed us they were looking at. So much to look at I was tempted on a long board but would rather get it at a skate shop. But really like this location close by, small parking lot but the same as Target so there is plenty of parking. Thank you so much for all your help in helping us find the perfect glove and sizes. I pass by this Big 5 often, but never got the chance to stop until a few weeks ago. There was plenty of parking in front of the store and I was greeted immediately as I stepped into the store. Even though most Big 5 stores are a bit smaller in size, they most definitely cram a lot of products into every surface area. I was looking for bat grip, and spent the previous few days looking up bat grips online. Since I wanted to support the local store, I decided to check out Big 5 when I was in the area. The employee quickly pointed out to me where bat grips were and I was on my way. There were not many options, but it was exactly what I needed. It was even better priced than online stores. After grabbing what I needed, I checked out a few of the sale racks, and there were many! Great service, in-stock products, numerous sale racks, and plenty of parking! I will most definitely stop by again for my sporting needs. read more

I had a really disappointing experience here. I called the store when I was about 2 minutes away to ask if they could stay open just a minute longer so I could quickly make a quick return. I was literally at the red light about to turn into the parking lot. While I was still on the phone, they told me they wouldn't wait. Then I watched them close the gate as I was pulling in. The manager, Jimena, refused to help and proceeded to shut the store. It was especially frustrating because my kids were in the car, and all I needed was a quick simple return. A small gesture of customer service could have made a big difference here, but instead it felt like we were completely dismissed. Really disappointing experience read more

We had a great experience at Big 5 recently! We were looking for toddler baseball equipment and were able to find what we needed thanks to Zeltzin and Ernie! Earnie helped us find a glove that fit my son's small hand as well as baseball pants and cleats. The cleats were surprisingly pretty well-priced and overall we spent about $80 for all his gear. This store has had what we've needed on more than one occasion and we also encounter people that seem to enjoy working here and who are very pleasant! read more

Big 5 do better, we needed something for softball camp. We went out of our way to go to this store because website says it opens at 8:30. We waited in the parking lot until 8:30 because posted hours on store window say they open at 8:30. An employee came out and said they don't open till 9:30. I usually go to the Big 5 in La Habra just for proximity. But I've come here when La Habra was low on stock. I've bought binoculars here and ammo (9mm, .357 and 00 shot) on sale and I've never been disappointed. This go round, I got my son some Wheelies, an all surface basketball and my wife a Hurley backpack beach chair (all on sale). Their selection, except for boys skate shoes and men's hiking shoes that were on sale, is good. I liked their Carhartt section and if I can't wait to order on line, I know where to go for beanies, shirts and pants. The people who work here are friendly and really try to help you find what you're looking for. The parking can get crowded, but if you don't mind walking, there's plenty. While not the most spacious Big 5, it's packed with most everything you would find at other locations and it's located conveniently where each member of my family can shop for whatever they need nearby. And that's the Biggest plus with this location. read more

Date of visit: December 16, 2018 One of the things that my brother wanted for Christmas were a pair of Nike training tights - and since my girlfriend was stuck as to what to get him as well, we figured we'd double up on his request and thus found ourselves at this particular Big 5 location. We didn't have too much of a problem finding the tights he wanted, and in addition, they had his size as well. Plus, since Kathy was looking for a beanie for my dad, she found one that would be for her liking. Much like the Big 5 location I frequent near my stomping grounds, this one has a great selection of sporting goods and related items to peruse. The staff is also friendly and professional; when the survival watch I was going to buy turned out to have a broken clasp, they offered to check other locations in the region to see if they had one. My grandmother and I had shopped at my favorite Big 5 in Brea. Ca. I had purchased a SABRE Stun Gun for my grandmother prior and it was defective. So grandma and I had returned back to the store to return the stun gun. I had noticed that I left my print receipt at home but Ralph a store associate and his manager both working hard at the front register ensured me that grandma would get a new replacement for the defective model we received. The staff here are a joke. Went in to grab couple items for my daughter and during checkout presented a Big 5 coupon. The cashier told me they couldn't use the coupon since it was not directly from the Big5 website or email. She grabbed the manager and he came over and said the same thing. I told them that other stores had no problems taking the coupon. The manager named Eddy then went off on a long tangent about how the other stores aren't doing what they are supposed to do all the while his own employee Jimena continued to ring up other customers while sucking on a large mango shaped lollipop. He kept going on and on about what the other store should not be doing so I mentioned perhaps he should focus more on his own employee being professional while helping customers. Eddie and Jimena, please have some more common sense when you deal with customers in your store. read more

I came in to get a backpack that I saw in one of their ads. I was helped by a young lady (blonde hair, I think her name is Sara) and she helped me look for it. When she couldn't find it, she actually took the time to run the item in their system and then she gave me a print out of the other stores and how many each store still had in stock. She also highlighted the stores that were nearby. I think that was pretty cool that she did that instead of just telling me to check another store. 5 stars for the friendly workers who greet you when you come in and for doing a little extra to help their customers. read more

I have gone here several times trying to purchase ammunition, at different times of the day. Each time I go there the employees cannot sell me ammunition. I have a real ID, my passport, and my concealed weapons permit for the state of California. According to them it takes a manager only to sell me ammunition. Came here in search of a new mouth guard and some new roller skates. They had very limited skates and sizes but I got lucky and the display one fit so they let me take that one. They also had mouth guards in two packs which was great. I got great customer service from both of the ladies working that day. Sheri needs a serious lesson in customer service. We were nice, accommodating customers. My boyfriend walked up and said "hello how are you?" ... nothing in response but a grumpy look on her face with no mask on. When I arrived there they told me they could not sell it because they did not have a qualified manager to do so. 5:30pm ish 7/2014/2020. I got to this Big 5 store. I've been going to Big 5 since the 80's when they had one in Pico Rivera. I get there, and I was expecting that a Karen would get indignant about face coverings. Sure enough, Karen was there. So I put on my face covering. But Emma demanded that I wear a mask because "We're just following guidelines, to keep you safe". The guidelines are "face covering", which I put on, exactly. When I reminded Emma that I was following guidelines by wearing a face covering, she refused to help me because I wasn't wearing a "face mask". The guidelines are face covering, not face masks. When I told Emma she was back-pedaling, she switched position and relented, that's great. But then Emma began gossiping openly with the customer at her register. (review the store recordings, she was mocking) And then the customer (who was there only to spend money) also got chatty. If you're going to follow guidelines, follow guidelines. The Big 5 cashier on 07/14 was lost for control. It was more important for Emma to threaten to call and weaponize the police, than it was for Emma to be reasonable. Crabby customer service from Managemt. Both in Brea and Fullerton. Don't know how to treat customers so that their satisfaction is guaranteed. Their workers do a better job serving customers than them. Their return policy is not printed on the receipt neither do they provide an oral warning. Instead when you aren't happy with the merchandise and it's not "lightly used", you are referred to their online return policy because managers won't let you return!!!! What kind of business is this?!! Sport chalet went out of business they are next. I'd be more than happy to give Dick's and REI which both are much better quality sport stores than Big 5, my business. Good luck on returning anything used once!
