This is my go to place for their shoe sales. I came in hoping they were having one of their sales and they didn't disappoint. I was able to get a new pair of walking shoes and a pair of Sherpa boots for my daughter and saved over 70%, niiiice! Last year when I came at this time I came in to get snow boarding equipment for my daughter to have her take lessons and they had what we needed at rock bottom prices! I was surprised considering it was the start of the season which was super cool. At that time we were able to get lift tickets too. They only sell for Mt. High so be aware of that, I believe that Sports Chalet sells to the other resorts. They get 4 stars bc most of the other things I can find at Target for a lot cheaper. read more

So I just gave the store a call and I asked if they carried any flesh colored long sleeves and the first thing that comes from the other end is "DANCE STUDIO" and I was honestly shocked that that was how they responded to me. So I said "No under armor?" (I had seen a shirt on under armors website that matched what I wanted) and the person goes "No. GO TO A DANCE STUDIO". Wow that is so rude and I'll never buy anything from this location again, they need to hire employees with good people and communication skills. i was looking for a specific item at a different store and they were kind enough to tell me this store had ONE in stock. i immediately made a phone call and they were kind enough to place it on hold for me and to keep it behind the counter so other shoppers couldnt get what i had requested. i was extremely happy to see the item was $100 less because it was on sale and had an ongoing promotion for a mail in rebate. the workers here were polite and professional and i do recommend shopping here. read more

BEWARE! If you're not white, make sure you have your coupon and make sure you put it into the cashiers hand and tell her to scan it!!!! But if you're white, you don't need anything cause you get a discount regardless!!! The white couple in front of me were asked if they receive coupons via email. They said NO. The cashier said, okay hold on....you saved $5. When it was my turn, She didn't say anything and I wasn't asked anything and was just told my total. They have a 10% off in-store coupon. Items I got were sale adidas and super value sale Nike. I went back in and talked to a lady who actually is the manager and she said it must've been the 10% coupon for in-store purchases and my items may not have applied. So I thought my items didn't apply. Well per big5 coupon exclusions, it applies to sale items but not super value sale item. Their service is ok and their selection is not as big as other sporting good stores. Back when Sports Authority was around they had a large selection of both exercise and sports equipment. Big 5 does have a wide choice of exercise shoes to choose from which I like because I want to be comfortable while I exercise and workout. So Big 5 does have some other advantages over other places like Sports Chalet or when Sports Authority was still around. read more

So I just left Big 5 here in brea and I have to say I had the BEST experience shopping here! Me my mom and brother came in here looking for some watches, and the cashier Kelsey was the best help around! She was so friendly and polite. She helped us the whole time,but she was also able to help other customers at the same time and having such a great and positive attitude the whole time! All the workers here seem to be very pleasant and I was greatly pleased! I highly recommend anyone to come here, such a great place to shop! Thank you Kelsey for all your help! I love that it's small and more personalized, although it's a busy store, and sometimes hard to find a sales person. We found a large selection of sweat pants for my son. Another time, when I called to see if they had a certain item in a certain size, they didn't have it in stock, but were glad to check at the store in Fullerton on Orangethorpe, and they did have the item, which saved me time running around. read more

Really nice sporting goods store that has a little bit of everything. Wether it be for sports, camping, fitness target sports or just plain fun, they've got you covered. Came in here to get some running shoes.. The store is clean, especially the shoe department was very organized and easy to look through. GIO was such a sweetheart and very helpful. I am very picky he was patient with me and helped me by offering several options. He was quick in getting me my sizes and offered me advice in choosing. Was a quick and easy breezy experience. I vacillated on whether or not to write this review, but the more I thought about it, the more I got ticked off all over again . While pig hunting in Paso Robles a month or so ago, I realized that we didn't have enough cooler capacity if everyone in our group successfully filled his pig tag. We ran in to town to buy an Igloo cooler for around $100. No biggie, when we got back to the ranch, my friend said that he had a larger cooler that I could use and I should return the Igloo since it would be too small for most hogs. Monday after getting back from my trip I went to Big 5 to return the cooler (still in mint condition) with my receipt in hand. I was told that Big 5 was not accepting returns due to a COVID-19 policy. I also told the clerk who I would later find out was an assistant manager that they would not match the current advertised price at BassPro of $49 because I would be willing to keep the cooler if they had. I was told to come back in a couple of weeks and return the ice chest. A couple of weeks went by and I returned. I couldn't find the receipt. GREAT! Knowing that I may have this problem, 2 weeks before, I took a photo front and back of the receipt with my phone just in case. Wow glad I did that! NAUGHT! When I entered the store with my cooler I stood in front of the register being ignored for at least a couple of minutes, eye contact was made but no further acknowledgement. So I walked the cooler to the register and plopped it down and got in line informing the cashier I was returning the cooler. When the assistant manager opened his register, he asked me for my receipt, to which I responded, "I don't have it." I was immediately told, "I can't return that without a receipt." Lucky for me I had the photo. NAUGHT! The assistant manager proceeded to argue with me that he needed the original and could do nothing for me. Which I knew was a BOLD FACED LIE. I was getting well on my way to angry and so I asked for the manager, who came and proceeded to tell me the same LIE. Having been a manager for Big 5 some 20 plus years ago, I knew I was being LIED to. (In fact, I was once chastised by my district manager for not letting a customer return a $20 pair of Turntec shoes in which the tread had been completely worn though before being returned because they hurt the customer's feet). By this time I was flipping the script the Manager kept telling me to calm down which only served to inflame the situation. I told him that he and I both knew that I would call corporate and then I would have to come back so he could process the return. Eventually the return was taken care of, but why would a clerk/manger outright LIE to me that there was nothing he could do? I wasn't trying to get one over on Big 5 I didn't rent (use the equipment) the equipment and then bring it back to get a refund which happens all the time. There was no need for me to be made to get so upset, there was no need for a Manager to be so obstinate, there was no need for Big 5 to lose a long time faithful patron. Will my dollars make or break Big 5? No, but they will not get another red cent from me. I will take my business to Dick's or somewhere else. read more

Always helpful service. They do get busy and may have a bit of waiting when asking for help, but they are friendly. They do have good deals on shoes from time to time. The selections are decent, but don't expect running shoes specialty choices. The venue is slightly on the cramp side, but clean and organized. I shop here on occasion, usually for shoes, but have bought just about everything here from snow skis to soccer equipment and have always been happy with their prices and service, but never anything that prompted me to write a review. Today, I had an exceptional thing happen that made me feel the need to review the store. I went today to buy some boots for work that I saw there two weeks ago which were $40 less than the best price I have ever seen. But today, the boots were $110, which is the same price everyone else sells them for. I then realized the $69 price I saw two weeks ago was the sale price and I missed the sale. I thought oh well, I need the boots anyway and went up to the register. There I met Sheri, who is obviously a gem as I see others have commented how great she is. Not mentioning anything about the price, she rang them up for $65. Me being too honest, I pointed out her error of ringing them up for the wrong price. Sheri just smiled and said, "No, these boots were on sale you missed the sale. I gave you the sale price you missed." How awesome is that! Hey Big 5, hang on to Sheri. The staff is extremely helpful, knowledgeable and polite. I've been to quite a few big 5 stores where you walk in and they act like you aren't even there, where you have to try to track the employees down if you need something. What a great store! I have been to other Big 5 locations and this one is by far the best. Immediately after entering the store, I'm given a super friendly welcome by the cashier (Sherri... or Sheri? I can't remember :)). There wasn't a line, and she asked me what I needed help with. I was there to get some shoes, and she called for someone to assist me. I really appreciated that because I'm kind of shy and might have walked out of the store without purchasing anything since no one was near the shoe area at the time. I even went back to ask Sherri her opinion between two pairs of shoes and her input was great. Sherri was so friendly and knowledgeable. I had some questions about other merchandise I was interested in and Sherri knew everything! I wish all customer service everywhere was like this! I must admit, I don't normally shop at this location (not the closest to me), but I would totally go out of my way to come back here now (and I love the huge parking lot!). read more

I checked online and looked ahead to see if the store would have a specific product, but when I arrived at the store the first clerk I met said that the product was "in boxes" and she wasn't willing to get them. Another said that they wouldn't get any until December. I was disappointed in the rudeness and lack of accountability. read more

Came here to get my son's baseball gear for the season and we found everything we needed from helmets to bats to cleats. The prices are low and affordable. Will be coming back here in the summer when it's football season for the gear and equipment. read more
