I came to A Snail's Pace in Brea on Black Friday weekend hoping to finally get properly fitted, and I'm so glad I did. Nicolette helped me and made the whole experience so pleasant and easy. She took the time to analyze my gait, explained that I have low arches and a neutral stride, and helped me find the perfect shoe. I ended up with the Saucony Ride 18 plus Superfeet inserts with maximum cushioning, and I can already tell these are going to be game-changers for my training. What I appreciated most was that Nicolette didn't rush me, answered all my questions, and made sure I understood how to break in the shoes properly. This place is great!! Yes, I would avoid coming on a weekend, wait time to just ask a question and get a size is pretty long. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and got our name down on the waiting list. She said it was going to be about 30mins, no problem for us- we went down the street to get a slice of pizza and by the time we got back, our name got called. Our salesperson (Grant, I believe was his name) answered all our questions and recommended the perfect running shoes for me and my husband. I didn't realize I have wide feet so good to know when buying shoes. I also thought prices were good, I was expecting it to be overpriced at a place like this. Came in here for the first time on Sunday, 2-1-26, around noon. It was definitely busy and I placed my name down on the waitlist. I waited about 20-30 min to talk to a service rep, Jimmy, and he was awesome. Not salesy at all. I'm new to running but I wanted to make sure I had the right shoes for my goals. Jimmy had me step on some machine to analyze my feet, then is recorded me on the treadmill to see if how my landing was. Jimmy was very knowledgeable, he brought out a few different options for me to try. I ended up buying the ASICS Novablast 5 and some new running socks. Waste of absolute time. We needed to try on ONE PAIR of shoes. We knew exactly which ones and our size. They forced us to check in to wait for help... 25 minutes later someone was available to help us. When we initially checked in, we told the clipboard guy we didn't need a fitting and we just needed this specific shoe in a specific size. When we finally got help, we were told they didn't have our size. I get that some people need more help and should wait for the experts... but we literally just needed to try them on and make a quick decision. What an absolute waste of time. The store refresh is beautiful and has a great selection of hard to find shoes, but we left so annoyed, we probably won't be back. Whoever decided this should be the process needs to reconsider. Paid $120 for Brooks women's shoes lasted 9 months with walking on flat ground in neighborhood. Top of shoe popped a hole through by big toe. They would not give me any credit towards the purchase of a new pair. I was told that these shoes only last 6 months to a year. If I knew that I never would have bought them. Seth was very welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable with my special feet. It was very easy to get our feet checked. Seth was very detail oriented, friendly and funny, overall a great guy. That was primarily why I wanted to go here, because I've been having an imbalance issue & was wanting to get the correct soles. I'm not much of a runner so I wasn't interested in running shoes. I came in maybe 25 mins after the store opened at 10:00am to get my feet measured for insoles and was surprised it was already busy! Had to be put very briefly on a waitlist but I was assisted by a fellow Robert and promptly got my feet scanned and two devices and my gait assessed, free of charge. I was pretty impressed by the technology; it finally feels like it's 2025 but not quite at flying cars lol. Robert recommended me a selection of foot insoles and was able to answer all of my questions. I definitely felt safe with him, while all the other employees also gave off friendly vibes. Everyone was very polite and social; I was not intimidated at all with the employees and I felt confident in the results based off their assessments and technology. The value of the insoles in-house and roughly the same price as their amazon listings, so if you're gonna get insoles and you're in the area, may as well come in and get your feet assessed too. 11/10 would come again, recommending it to everyone I know! read more

I have alway worn a man's 9.5 AA width shoe. Extremely narrow for a man. I went in to purchase a pair of orthopedics. The salesman man brought out a pair of running shoes and said "You may need room and I would fit you with a 9.5 "D" width." They about fell off my foot! I'm assuming it was because it was the only width he had in inventory. He also brought out a pair of mild orthotics of which I purchased for $50.00. The Orthopedics did absolutely nothing to help my Planter fasciitis. I'm a senior citizen and was Very disappointed. I would say be careful in your purchase. I've been having pain in my right hip and left knee when I run. I figure this is a problem with the way I strike but just to be sure, I went to A Snail's Pace. According to the guy I talked to, he thinks it's more about the shoes. He brought out a couple for me to try on and explained how I needed more broad support. When I felt like my heel was slipping, he even showed me a special and extremely weird way to tie the shoe so that I made two little loops and then tied my shoe through those. It worked and my heels definitely don't slip. I ended up buying the shoes he recommended, and they were not my normal go-to (Hoka). They were even on sale! So far, I feel a difference in the support of the shoes, but my right hip and left knee still hurt a bit, especially if I do some sprinting. If it keeps up, I think I'll go back to the store but make an appointment this time. I was under the impression that the salespeople would watch me run, see if I'm doing something wrong and then find a shoe to assist...maybe watching me run on the treadmill to see if the recommended shoe was working. The salesperson I was working with did not seem at all interested in seeing me run and I even had to ask if I could use the treadmill to try out the shoes and he did not go with me but rather stayed where he was. On my behest he looked at my Hokas to see if they were wearing out on one side more vs. the other. It was a busy Saturday morning, and I was a "walk-in" so I wonder if I would have gotten more attention if I had an appointment. At any rate, I do like my shoes and the salesperson I worked with was extremely knowledgeable. I'd recommend checking the store out, but please make sure you have an appointment. read more
