Champs Sports is not bad at all. They have great options in brands like Nike and Adidas. They have clothing, sports wear, and shoes. Unfortunately, they didn't have many sizes in shoes but they had tons of sizes in the clothing. Everything was nice quality and they had some really great prices. I've always liked the name of this store, often referring to my little nephew (hi you doing Champ!) by the same name. I mean, this store has got the phrase, "I'm a Winner," written all over it. Being a huge sports fan, this is definitely one of the places I visit while at the Brea Mall. Champ's Sports is a part of the Foot Locker family so your money goes to the same place, if you shop at both stores. Situated between the Disney Store and Hot Topic (2nd floor), I'm greeted by an associate when I enter. This location always looks clean and tidy. They got good lighting in here or something cause the shoes and apparel shine bright, as some crazy color/design tennis shoe always catches my eye. Compared to the competition, I think the selection is much better, although I noticed that their prices are a tad big higher. During my last visit, their selection of Nike's and Converse was off the hook and of course, neatly organized as well. All the workers are doing something and no one is just loafing around. If I have questions, they get answered. If I need a size, they got it. Maybe, it's the start of the new year but they got jerseys, t-shirts, and accessories, all fully loaded. I was hoping to see some MLB jerseys but it's still the mid way point for the NBA and the end of the NFL season (San Francisco 49'ers got robbed y'all). Standard at best sports apparel spot in Brea Mall. I like this shop better than the Foot Locker down stairs, due to the fact that this store is bigger and it offers varieties like jerseys, team t-shirts, team hats, a larger running/training shoes section. This store is kept clean and stands out above the rest. The staff here are okay maybe one I find not engaging but everyone else asks if a size is needed just holla. One of them offered me a club card which is free to sign up when I made my purchase here. Also I was glad that they did not hassle me on my return. Overall I would give this 3.75 out 5... Walked into the store and it was pretty full. All the workers were busy helping people and I wasn't acknowledged at all so I waited because I did see some shoes I wanted. After all customers left I was there waiting still and no one had still acknowledged me. One girl was folding shirts 10 ft away, one was restocking boxes of shoes, and the guy at the register was on the phone. He actually walked right in front of me and said on the phone "Sorry we don't have those" and continued back to the register. I waited one more minute hoping someone would ask me if I needed anything but nothing happened. I left very upset and ended up buying shoes elsewhere. Service is slow, and the attention span of the employees is awfully short. Instead of attending to one customer at a time, the employees try to help 5 different people at once and then leave everyone waiting for an obscenely long time. The person who helped us took 15 minutes just to bring out our shoes to try on, and then decided to stop and talk to another customer for 10 minutes instead of just giving us our shoes. Even after they finally got us our shoes, the employee's attitude was horrible and none of the employees seem like they care to work there. The selection of shoes is decent. Rather pricey but they're all name brand so that makes sense. I'd really go to a different shoe store to get my shoes. I've found much better customer service and prices elsewhere. read more

Absolutely love this place, despite it sometimes having not that big a variety on Lakers and Angels merchandise. But it'll do when looking for something as simple as a jersey or t-shirt. Staff is friendly as well. I have gotten most of my Lakers t-shirts at this place, and got an All-Stars 2011 womens jacket just 1-2 wks ago. Love it. Of course when there's official sports merchandise, you've got to expect the prices to be not-so-cheap at all, but it's worth treating yourself to something here once in a while. read more

Awesome experience. There was a rare colorway on sale for a shoe I was looking for (KD V DMV) and unfortunately they didn't have it in store. As I was leaving, the employee mentioned he could check their shipping warehouse to see if they had any in stock. Seeing as how I had already checked online, I thought they wouldn't but he made it clear that these were two different supply sources. Turns out they had my size and I ordered them on the spot. Walked in at 2:45 on a Saturday afternoon. We weren't immediately greeted, but it was busy so I understood. The first gentleman who asked if I needed anything took the shoe I wanted and never returned. We waited for about 15min before realizing he was assisting another customer. It would have been totally fine, but he didn't let us know anything about the availability of the shoe, it that it would take him more time since he was assisting someone else. When he approached me again, he apparently forgot that he even was getting a size for me. I felt completely ignored, and wanted to walk out because the customer service was so bad. Someone else ended up asking me if we needed assistance. His name is Isaiah and he was awesome!! Checked on 3 different styles while helping other customers and I still managed to make me feel like I was his only one. Isaiah is the only reason I am giving this location any stars at all. Emma Sanchez and Luis Melchor are managers at this Champs Sports Store selling leftover, exclusive shoes (Yeezy Cloud) to each other behind the register. I won a pair through the Champs App and came at 2:58pm, 2 minutes before the cutoff time to purchase and pick up my winning pair. One Champs works checks me in with the 4 digit pin and asked me to walk to the cashier. Emma Sanchez was at the cashier desk and walked to the back as I'm approaching her. I assumed she was bringing me the shoes to purchase. She purposely stayed in the backroom for over 3-4 minutes just to say since I ran out of time to purchase the shoe. So I asked for corporate number, stayed on the phone with them for 50-60 minutes, while in the store. I filed a claim with them and reported her and Luis. So then I asked her how many leftover pairs are left? She ignores me. Then my 5 year old son asked her, "Where's the bathroom" because he had to use the bathroom. She then pulls out her phone in plane sight and ignores him as well. So I asked the first employee that checked me in, how many pairs are left unclaimed, he told me 30 pairs. So I sat there and counted Emma ring up only 20 pairs total after the cut off time. So my question to Emma was, where's the 10 remaining pairs you didn't sell? She then calls security on me, I explained the situation to them. Security then suggested that I filed a claim with the Brea Mall Manager, Kevin Caulson. I did that and now waiting to hear back from him on Monday. Champs employee should not be able to sell each other shoes like Emma and Luis are doing for one another, while on the clock, and when there's still people in line waiting to purchase from the first come, first serve line. I witnessed this and something needs to be done about it. On top of the way Emma disrespected my son and I when he simply asked to use the bathroom. read more

After going back and forth between all the shoe stores in brea mall looking for a certain kind of Nike roshe runs I go into champs with hopes that they had it. Some shoes on the wall were missing because some customers may have grabbed it or for some other reason. Not knowing if they had it or not because of the missing roshes on display, I asked one of the girls working there if they had it. She looked at me like I was stupid and totally sassed me saying "Whatever we have on display are the only ones we have."
