I've been coming to this Lids store for probably 15+ years and have never really had any issues. The store is kind of small and it can get packed real quick especially around the holiday time when everyone descends on the mall. Overall they usually have a good selection, but since my favorite sports teams are considered the secondary teams in the area they usually do not carry a lot of options for me. I have never really had any issue with service, it's just hats and their have what you want or they don't. Things can sell out quick, like some of the Dodgers WS hats, but they are always good about referring you to the Lids website or helping you search at another store location. read more

Staff really makes such a difference when shopping... some people have great customer service and others don't. I was on the hunt for a Dodgers World Series hat and started my search at the Montebello Mall. The employee working there was rude and definitely lacking in customer service. I was fortunate enough to grab one here at Brea and I wish I had gotten his name, but whoever opened this morning head very helpful. He helped me find the size I needed and gave me some info on another hat I was looking for. I also overheard him on the phone (another customer looking for World Series hats). He told them about store policy on the special items (no holds, first come only) but have him suggestions on how to try and score one. Not everyone has that customer service spirit, but this person definitely did. Considering the juxtaposition of my experience at the other store, it made me want to write a review. 1 star for customer service. No one answers phone, called multiple times and no one picks up phone. My order should have been ready yesterday (order placed 4 days ago and paid in full), tried calling yesterday and all day today when I finally decided to drop in because my order should have been ready, but it was not. So frustrated, only one hat done out of 6. Waste of time, understaffed possibly. Now told will try to have by tonight or tomorrow. So frustrating! read more

I just left this Lids location and was a very unsatisfied customer. I bought a beanie from another lids store and they forgot to that the sensor off. So I took the receipt and the beanie to Brea location. Joseph was the lids employee that help me. I show him the receipts and the beanie. Joseph look at the sensor and was like I need to take it to that location I got it from. I was like I got it from lids I just need the sensor off. After his smart remark. This was possibly one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I went to this location with my family where my cousin was looking at the discounted hats section. He was planning on buying about 6-8 of them. They all had price stickers but when we were checking out, the associate neglected to tell us that the prices had gone up. We went back to the store after reviewing the receipt and he said the prices had gone up by $5 each hat. However, he didn't tell us this when we were initially checking out. I asked why they didn't change out the price stickers and he said "to be honest with you it's too much work". I guess being transparent during the interaction was also "too much work". He basically had a "take it or leave it" attitude and was very rude and disrespectful. It was very clear that he did not care about his job. Stepped in to find a hat for my son & Vanessa was on her phone the entire time I was in store, I was in there for about 30 minutes . There was an issue with the hat I wanted & they were trying to figure out how much to charge me. Vanessa Took 2 personal calls while on her shift , customers would come in & she would ignore them while being on her phone & putting hats on the shelf. Terrible customer service. I tried returning a brand new hat I bought 2 weeks ago and they wouldn't take it. I had my receipt and I was within the 30 days, but they complained about the condition of the hat and said it was "used." This hat was brand new and never worn so it was very frustrating to be treated with so much rudeness and disrespect. FYI to all the workers there, I went to a different Lids and they gladly and politely accepted my return with no issues. The mister wanted a Laker hat and we had just visited E4hats.com in Fullerton and could not find one. I found a Nasa ball cap at E4hats.com for $21 and had to have it cause it was 4th of July weekend, I'm a science buff, it was red and it was a simple buckle design at the back. We came to Lids and I thought for sure a Laker hat would cost $30 - $40 and I was right BUT the caps were on sale and he got it for $15!! Lids has great sales! Had I known, I wouldn't have wasted his money (thanks mister!) on a Nasa baseball cap made in a factory warehouse and bought something licensed and official at Lids for CHEAPER! I can't find a Nasa ball cap at Lids though, so I'm happy with the hat, but it's worth it to checkout Lids for all your hat needs before you go online or elsewhere. read more

Very disappointed to find out they don't do even exchanges. I came in to exchange a hat for a different color and was told to pay the difference since the hat was previously bought on sale. Same hat just a different color and had to pay $11 difference. In addition their customer service is awful. We waited in line almost half an hour while the cashiers only had one person in the store. read more

Alondra and Micheal are super dope, considerate, customer service skills being on point, no complaints at all from this location. There a small store but huge at heart, hats are hats but they Michael and Alondra make the store. It's a hat store but it is addicting

I don't know why I keep coming back to this location, the service is awful. I've had a lids card for the past three years and have been a longtime lids customer, but I will be sure to stay away from this store. The employees often are too busy talking amongst themselves to go out of their way to help anyone. And when they DO help you, they speak at you with a smug, condescending tone. No, I may not work at a hat store like you, bro, but yes I do know about hats and I know what I'm looking for. And yes, of course I know my hat size. If you want crappy service or are in desperate need of a specific hat that you can't find anywhere else, come here, otherwise go somewhere else. read more

I came here to get a three items of clothing embroidered with small letters. Each embroidery was about an inch. I was charged for four items, but didn't notice until later. When I went to pick up the items, the guy working said the fourth charge was a service fee. He also stated that he was supposed to charge me for six items--one charge for each item of clothing I had embroidered and one service fee for each item, but he said he discounted me for whatever reason. Meaning one embroidery with the service fee comes out to be $21... Total rip off. For three items (one inch or less than one inch in width embroideries that were only three letters long in one thread color), it came out to be almost $50. I came here because I heard they could get the job done for cheap in less than in hour, and it wasn't even done until the next day. Should've gone elsewhere, or to a different Lids location. TLDR: too expensive for nothing special. Just took a closer look at the items, and they didn't even do the right color for the thread... I asked for all white, and he did one item black. If I'm going to pay $47, at least embroider it how I asked! read more

As we walked in the door there were 4 employees at the register and not a single one said hello to us or any of the other people that walked in or were shopping. I went in to get my team Israel hat engraved. They completely messed it up and the writing went over the WBC logo in the back. Then they made me wait about 20 minutes for the manager to show up. The manager didn't even acknowledge me and went straight for the hat and began to cut the stitches off. Then it took about two hours to take off the stitching and get it corrected. The manager eventually acknowledged me and gave me some options and the hat turned out OK, but the WBC logo was ruined and had to be covered. If I could give this place negative stars I would. So bummed. This is a hard to find cap and they wrecked it. It looks OK after they did some work on it, but it's still not the same. read more

This store has the worst customer service ever. My husband and I walked in. We did not get acknowledged at all. The two employees were too busy socializing amongst themselves to even say hello. We stayed a total of about 10mins . My husband looked at every single hat just to see if they would offer help. Never did. A word of advice hire people who are eager to make a sale. My husband was even wearing a new ball cap which would tip you off if you're a real salesperson. That maybe, just maybe, this customer is interested in buying another ball cap. This place has hats for everyone. I get all my new era fitted baseball hats here. They do custom embroidery and have most teams and sizes. I enjoy this store alot considering im a fitted hat junkie. I suggest you get the lids card if you buy alot of hats otherwise its not worth it. It gives you 10% off thats it. The only problem i have with them is that they don't have many sales and prices are pretty firm, the most common sale i have seen is a buy 1 get 1 half off. I always order on Lids web site for all of my favorite teams merchandise, and have had my items shipped to the Brea location for free. I never have had any issues in receiving a call from a Lids employee to let me know the item is there, or to go and pick up the item.
