IT's hard to find big and tall stores so this one is great find and right by Brea mall. Casually walked in and strolled about and found awesome Dodger gear and nice Hawaiian shirts from Tommy Bahama. There's a big sale section in the back and the store is very clean, organized and sexy! The ladies were all very nice and helpful. I have relatives that visit from other countries that are on the hunt for big and tall clothing as the price and design are way nicer and cheaper here in the states so this store is a win for everyone (Total Wine is also in this shopping center). read more

How in the world does this store close during business hours for inventory?? I show up at 12:10pm and an employee unlocks the door to tell me they're closed until (hopefully) 1:30pm due to store inventory. I have other things to do than to wait around and hopefully enter your store at 1:30. Suggestion: do your inventory before or after business hours. It's an inconvenience for customers when you turn them away because you closed midday to do something that can easily be done during off business hours. read more

Went to purchase some clothes and the sales associate CeCe was an absolute pleasure to work with! Very inviting, listens to what you're saying and gave no sales pressure what so ever. She had an amazing attitude and a great sense of humor and a nice sense of style! She gave sincere honest opinions and went above and beyond to make sure I found just the right item I needed. Bought some great jeans over the weekend with the crew at DXL (BREA,CA) and already had a great experience.. At home, when I later was about to wear them, I realized I must've grabbed the wrong size when selecting colors. (Sigh...) Big dummy. Now I gotta take 'em back. Came back today with my receipt and was happily greeted by Michele (one 'L' only please ) who helped me make sure to grab the correct size this time... I honestly thought that I might only get the familiar "we just do store credit" speech but instead left the store happy and satisfied with my new jeans in hand. You might be saying, 'Well yeah. That's how it's SUPPOSED to go', but try and remember the last time things went so smoothly during an exchange... All I'm saying is that I appreciated it. read more

So much wasted time! Yesterday while at the brea location the regional manager Sarah called to this location for a shirt to be held. I came today to pick it up. It took over a half an hour and total chaos by the entire store to find the shirt. If you are paying $49 for a long sleeve crew t shirt, customer service should be professioal. Lots of stores now carry big and tall sizes for men at a lot lower prices. This store won't be around much longer..and it is...I will never be back. read more

I had an awful experience yesterday at DXL and will never be going back. Literally two weeks ago (I have receipts to prove it) I bought 3 pairs of slacks, all of the same brand, Oak Hill. After only two weeks of having these pants they began to wear down. An unusual stripe/discoloration appeared on 2 of the pairs near the front right pocket. I never spilled, tore, or altered these pants. All I did was wear them to work. So, I brought them back into the store today to return them as they obviously were not good quality. I paid $70 per pair! And after only two weeks the poor quality of the material was already making them discolor. They became practically unwearable as co-workers were noticing. I work in a professional, office environment and my attire is suppose to reflect that. When I took them back in the first associate was nice, she told me the store manager would have to give the OK on the return but in the meantime I could shop around and exchange them. The manager finally appeared, Vianey, and proceeded to be extremely rude to me. She said it was my fault that the pants had become discolored/worn down. She said it was the way I carry my items in my pocket that caused the pants to deteriorate. She NEVER once said SORRY and her only goal was to argue with me and make her point. She furthered her argument by judging my physical appearance exclaiming that the jeans I was currently wearing at that time were too tight and I should not carry items in my pocket. Completely inappropriate. It's one thing to not accept my return of these low quality pants but to then say it's all my fault and judge me physically as well as my current attire is outrageous. No one should ever shop here as the customer service is awful. I will be switching to DXL's competitors to find better clothing, quality, and service. I cannot believe the Store Manager, Vianey, acted in such a rude unprofessional manner. read more

Very impressive looking store BUT the prices are higher than their other brand, Casual Male,which they are closing down slowly. Felt like a Old "expensive" Navy store. Kind of young and hip with larger sizes and bigger price tags. Walked in Saturday afternoon, no one greeted me walk around the entire store looking at their selection and prices.The only greeting I got was a "have great day" as I was exiting the store. The layout is a circle so its flow easily and the selection is decent. I guess I will stick to online where I get the same service at much better prices read more

I generally love this place, and will drive way out of my way to shop here. Let me give you an idea. There was a store less than a mile from my house, but I would drive the 20 odd miles to come here. They just opened a store 5 miles away, and I'd still come here. Dianika has always been helpful, as have the rest of the staff. Today, I couldn't get help, and it took forever to try on items. This is a great store, very nice selection at different price ranges too. I walked in and an employee instantly greeted me. There's none of that salesman pushiness, they'll let you look around and every so often check up. I came here for some ties, they varied from $30 - $100, but they all looked great. Ok, to be real this place sells Chinese clothes for full retail price. There are a few nice things like Polo, Calvin Klein, Lacrosse excetera.... But for the most part is overpriced Chinese crap. There's not a quality suit in the entire place. So here's the reason for the 5 star review. The examplary help I received from Shelby. She helped me a half hour past closing time. She did not rush me and she Made a lot of suggestions for a for a very special night. She hooked me up and put me together like a Taylor!... Like a boss! The store manager however(Vlainy), was really rude and dismissive. She very unkind to her employees. (Something I happened to witness.) And she kept trying to rush me out and wouldn't steam the wrinkled shirts they were trying to sell for 120 bucks! I will say - They do however also have a very good rewards program. For every 75 bucks you spend they give you $25. Bux off - that's pretty awesome! Excellent example of customer service, yeah, not many examples of that these days. The staff here treat you like you are a VIP, offer water, no hesitation to assist with measurements, pulling out ladders to reach high, no hesitation to order items online for the few things not in stock, etc. I usually shop without any needing assistance as everything is placed in the store in an organized manner. I do love meeting the employees, their personalities are infectious. The selection and the store is amazing, feels very high end, but they carry both Rochester's, DXL, and Casual Male's merchandise and reflective prices. I exited the store feeling a renewed faith in humanity, with a smile ear to ear. Thank you to the entire team. Continued... I've continued to shop here for the last few years, and I've seen different employees frequently. Each and every visit has been an incredible experience. I always come out feeling like a valued customer. These people do everything they possibly can to make my shopping experience as easy as possible. Continued some years later... I am discouraged with the quality of the products at the chain of Destination XL stores. I am uncertain what the return policy is, probably not like REI. I have purchased several items lately that have failed after using them less than a couple times. A lovely jacket, the zipper pull failed rendering the item useless. My newest shoes, more than a month old, but the top seam failed and my toes are peaking through. It seems like I am throwing out $100 bills for junk. $100 is a lot of money. read more

Possibly the worst customer service I've ever experienced. We purchased close to $1000 worth of clothing and some of the order Had to be shipped to the store due to no stock in various colors etc. We were contacted when the order came in and I went to pick up the items for my husband. When I arrived, they couldn't find the clothes. They searched the entire store while I waited and three out of the four employees were extremely rude. I asked for a refund since my husband needed the clothes immediately and we would go elsewhere to purchase but they refused, stating that they could only refund the purchase after they found the order. What? I asked them what would happen if the order was never found and I got no response. They then put me on the phone with their manager who gave me the same story- also rude. They did nothing to attempt to win my business back and were less than apologetic about losing the clothes that we had already paid for. Only one employee seemed to care- the rest were arrogant and disinterested. Get over yourselves- you are SALES CLERKS and bad ones at that!! Again, the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I had to wait several days before writing this review. I was so pissed at the experience I encountered this past Sunday, New Year's Eve. It was a somewhat empty store and I was approached by a very nice female worker. I told her I was looking for dress slacks for work. After taking my measurements, she passed me off to a young man in a vest. We found 1 pair that I liked and fit very well. I told him I wanted them and another pair in a different color. We walked back to the rack but failed to find the exact match. He suggested I go online to see if they were there. I told him I wasn't interested in doing that but maybe a different brand in a flat front. All we found were pleated type. By that time we ended up near the front of the store where a rack marked sale was. He pointed it out and directed me to go see if there was anything there. No, he didn't follow me to assist, but walked away. Still nothing I found were what I was looking for. So I walked back to search several different racks trying to find something. The young man walked back to me and asked me why I didn't want pleated pants. I told him they make my front puff out, and I still wasn't interested in that type. He said, what's wrong with puffy pants? That did it, I walked away from him and looked one more at a different brand. Again failing to find anything. So I went to stand in line to pay for the only pair I found. But I was so offended, that I handed him the pants and walked out. I went to the men's warehouse and bought four pair of pants. They were more than helpful and happy to sell me pants that I wanted. This is the second time the men's warehouse saved me when DXL failed. Two stars, because that sales lady was more the helpful. Never again will I shop at this store. read more

My experience at DXL is usually a pleasant one at different locations. Tonight however I was completely dissatisfied with the level of service provided. My wife and I went into the store to return a couple of items. The woman that helped us wasnt happy that we were returning the items. She sighed and her demeanor was unpleasant and unwelcoming. To add to the situation a man entered while we were doing the return and with disgust she messaged through microphone "another one with a bag" because another customer had walked in with a return. We came here looking for a blazer for my Fiance and all we got was insulted. We were helped by Ryan who did his best to find us a blazer and then asked for the option of the in-store tailor. We didn't get the name of the tailor but he was a short, older, guy in a UCLA shirt. We asked if the blazer could be reduced in the shoulders, like the shoulder pads taken out. And the tailor said no, and we said "so what can we do?" Hoping they would say, we have other suits in your size but the tailor just said "lose weight." Really dude, you work for a company that markets towards larger sizes and your gonna be that in-sensitive. And when he saw that we got upset instead of finding us a different size he was asking us "have you been to downtown LA? A shop on 3rd Street. They have bigger sizes and I know the tailoring they do there." I have a feeling he works at some shop in Downtown LA and is driving business there. Ryan did tell us that he works at the Brea location part time and the tailor kept pushing this LA location on us. We left with no suit and a bad experience. I will say, the Irvine location was so much more helpful. I would go there instead of this location. read more

I was not happy with the customer service in this location. I brought my son to get two dress shirts and two ties for his senior pictures and every time a rep would help us they would stop help someone else and leave us hanging for 10 min and come back to assist and the stop and help someone else. They seemed very under staffed. Not sure if I will visit this location again. The selection in clothes were good. The prices so so. I paid $170.00 for his clothes and they were not even name brand. They were store brand. Unsure what I would have paid elsewhere so cant say if I got a good deal or not. read more

The store was clean and had a great selection of nice clothes for larger men but I didn't feel welcomed at all and so I didn't buy anything. Clothing was over priced. I went there a week prior to my Birthday. When I walked in I started to look for outfits and I had many options! Coco walked up to me and started to help me. She is so friendly and always had a positive attitude.I felt like I had my own person stylist. She grabbed everything from shirts all the way to shoes. I left the store with a complete outfit. My birthday was yesterday and I felt confident in what I was wearing. And can't wait to where that outfit again. I give the store 5 stars (clean, organized, smells great) and I give Coco 5 stars as well. She is an amazing worker and has great taste in cloths and works with your style you like. read more

Took my nephew in there a while back and I was so happy with the service. They understand what it is like to be big and really cater to your needs. They helped him find clothes that actually fit him and he could stop wearing plain white T-Shirts from Walmart and gym shorts.
