Was in the Men's department in need of sneakers.... one girl at the register.. never acknowledged was in deep conversation with a customer she was currently helping.... line started to get longer.. two people put their merchandise down and left..i went to the other side of the department.. no-one again...i get it... it's jcpenneys.. self serve and only have one cashier per department...but this was sad. I hardly ever write reviews but I had to this is for the Sephora inside JC Penny I went in with my sisters one of them had a gift card to spend it sucked that we could only use that gift card at this sephora she was looking around for certain things she wanted and the things she wanted were not in stock. I am in the beauty industry and I could not help to notice how dirty the testers were how disgusting. I believe the girls working there it is their job to make sure those are clean. I went to get a cotton with alcohol to disinfect one of the testers and there was no alcohol in the container I believe the girls working there should be on top of things like that for sanitary reasons. I also was looking around for a lip stick I found one but it was so dusty full of dust looked like it had not been dusted. Being in the industry presentation and sanitation come first I was shocked that a company like Sephora would allow this the manager and girls that work there were just standing around talking instead of making sure the store is presentable no wonder I have had clients tell me they have bad experiences at Sephora. I don't think I will ever come in this store again. read more

My wife and I have been married over 50 years now and our very first credit card right after we got married was for JC Penny. Used it over the years but when it changed management a few years ago the stores changed and we stopped going there. When management changed again we decided to try it again but without any notification they cancelled our card. So that's still okay and we went there today to find some tops for our daughter and some slacks for me. Found what I wanted but what a mess that store was. When will businesses ever learn that you're not going to save money by eliminating customer service/employees. Unfolded clothes everywhere including the floor. Women's tops going for $3.99 like some lower class department store. The only employees I saw were at the checkouts and one of them left for awhile as she said that when she has no customers she has to do her best to put clothes away. I will say that the employees we did see were nice and seemed friendly. But how about hiring some people to actually help customers and keep the store neat and clean. I haven't been to Penny's in a long time, but ordered some items online that I ended up returning in store. I must say that their re-branding efforts seem very successful! The store was bright, clean, cheery music with excellent customer service. I encountered three employees that were very polite and seemed to be happy to work there which is a rare form these days. I have been shopping at this store most of my life and never really experienced or noticed any issues until the last few years. One thing, the dressing room doors are always messed up. The locks are either gone or don't work (you press the lock in and the handle still turns from the outside) so most of the time while I'm trying on clothes someone ends up opening the door on my. Another issue is that there are a handful of sales associates that don't have very good customer service skills. My experience today just a bothered me enough that i had to write a review. I came here today with my mom because she had gotten some shoes as a birthday gift and it turns out the security thing was still on them so we thought maybe we could get it taken off. When she explained the situation to the sales associate he said he couldn't help her so he called for a supervisor who told my mom she also could not do it for her. Unfortunately my mom did not have a receipt since it was a gift and the supervisor said that with no receipt it leads her to believe we could have stolen them and are trying to get away with them... Shoe dept has worst customer service ever. They are ALWAYS understaffed. I went at 3 pm on a Thursday and there was one person in the department and many people waiting. I put a pair of boots on hold and came back for them 30 minutes later. The shift has changed and the new girl could not find my boots anywhere. There was no other pair in my size. They didn't bother to call the girl who went home. The girl on a break didn't bother coming back from her break to help. Completely inept staff and never enough people working in the department. read more

Nightmare Shopping Experiences! If I could rate this store with zero stars, I would..... How many trips are needed to complete a bath set? Three? Four? Five? This pertains to the incompetent Bed and Bath Staff who were not able to complete a simple transaction after visiting them three times (and the set is still not complete). At the first visit, the sales person told me, "I can only ring up items, and cannot order missing bath set items through the online JCPenny.com." I was told that JCPenny the store, and JCPenny online are two different companies, and that I needed to order the mat online...OK...I did just that (see below for visit #3). The second time, I was there for a return, with the associate pulling out, scanning, then placing the items back into the original bag I gave him. The associate did not pull out one of the items from the bag I gave him, and thinking the he returned everything in the bag, put it under the counter. He then spent 45 minutes arguing with me about how I left the item at home, and would not look through the bag. When the manager got involved, I asked them to go through the bags again, and the missing item was discovered, but with no apology. The third time, I received a call to pick-up an online ordered bath mat that arrived at the store. A week later, I went to the store, and after 30 minutes of waiting, I was told that the item was sent back because I took too long to pick it up. Yet, I was not contacted and warned that the item was going to be sent back. I was offered a different colored mat to replace the item, which I declined. They also declined shipping the item to my home as well. When I asked for a manager, one came out yelling at me, and saying, "I can raise my voice higher than you-higher than you possibly can!" She walked away and would not hold a mature conversation with me. The entire time I was speaking normally, but was increasingly frustrated with their complete and utter incompetence. I will be contacting both the store manager and the national offices with my concerns tomorrow, as I have never had such a negative experience shopping before. Although the mall was packed, their store was empty. I wonder why? The bottom line is that the store lacks customer service, and people are clearly voting with their feet. I received a phone call letting me know that the $50 credit that I had, had been extended to June 15th and would I like to make an appointment. I did go ahead and make an appointment for June 15th at 5:40 PM. We arrived at the studio at 5:30; however, we weren't even acknowledged by anyone until 6:10 PM. At that point our information was taken, but the young lady returned to the group she had been photographing to show them their pictures. Then another woman came in wanting to place her order. The young lady went back and forth between the two families, with no more acknowledgement of us. At 6:50 PM, an hour and ten minuted after our appointment, I politely and calmly asked how much longer it would be, as we needed to be at an award ceremony in ten minutes (obviously we were going to be late). The young lady stated that she was extremely overwhelmed and didn't know what to do. She said that it would likely be at least another 20-30 minutes before she could start taking our pictures. One of the ladies she was working with said that they had been taken in over an hour late as well. We all agreed that it wasn't the young lady's fault, as she had no business being there alone. I asked if we could come back later in the evening, but was told that they closed in ten minutes (at 7:00 PM) and still had two more sittings after ours. We had no choice but to leave, since we needed to get to the other event. Also, I really didn't trust a photographer on the edge of a breakdown of taking quality pictures. In fact, the family ahead of us kept stating that they really didn't like any of their pictures. This I understand, as we had the same issue with our Christmas pictures. This visit was a second try for us - it was a clear failure on the part of JCP Portraits. read more

On June 23rd we ordered a Samsung dishwasher from JCPennys to be installed, and paid for everything with a JC penny card over the phone- including dishwasher, supply cord pack, installment fee, and the hallway of the old washer. July 3rd was the set delivery date., and this was an anniversary gift to one another. The delivery truck came to the front of the house on July 3rd and took out a very "dented and damaged" dishwasher that clearly could not work. The delivery people loaded it back into the truck and drive away. After many attempts and lots of hold time, I called and needed to set up another attempt. Another delivery date was set for two weeks later, July 12th. The new dishwasher came in, but this time different, reluctant delivery men said that they could not install it. They claimed, "There is no request for installation in the order," "We don't have the materials we need," and "We only install with copper pipes because we are afraid of breaking the plastic ones..." (Mind you our kitchen is fully updated with modern pipes and the original dishwasher is only an 8 year- old traditional 24" Whirlpool; thus the second attempt was also a fiasco!) At this point I was so angered and frustrated from taking 2 full days off of work to accommodate the 4- hour window 2-week time frames for delivery, and I attempted to call JC Penny's yet again but was put on hold for 74 minutes! When there was an answer, the person on the other end was somewhat illiterate and unable to pronounce my name, my city's name and was very slow at understanding the matter, often misquoting me while listening; therefore, I requested a supervisor. After holding for another 22 minutes, a "supervisor" came on. I explained the issues again in detail. She said that she would need to contact the delivery people to see what the issue was. She promised that I would hear back from her within an hour, Now, I was waiting again. I called at 1:20 and it was now 2:50... I decided to try my luck and call back with the same number and the extension that she gave to me earlier, and after waiting another 31 minutes, the "supervisor" said she was still trying to make contact with the delivery company. I called back, waited on hold again and eventually made contact. I asked 3 simple questions: "Is it possible to buy a dishwasher from JC Pennys and have it installed in a normal house with normal modern pipes?" 2. When can I have the dishwasher that I paid for installed? 3. Will I receive some type of compensation for the delay and aggravation? The supervisor said, "Yes" to all the questions but had no specific information for me, yet promised to call back before 5pm. She did at 5:15 and informed me that the dishwasher could not be installed because of what the "Reliable" delivery people said is "plastic piping" ... and now I will need to cancel the order with JC Pennys.. Will that be a problem too? Or will I end up seeing a charge on my JC Pennys account that I'm now strongly considering closing also? As I wait on hold again, the next day, trying to cancel the order, I can't even get anyone on the online chat from customer service. And what about some compensation for the two days I took off from work? What about the headaches of waiting on line and all the false promises from this month long fiasco without a dishwasher? This total fiasco ended up with wasted time, frustration, and no compensation. And In the end, was it the lack of communication between the people on the phones, internet, actual store, and rickshaw delivery company that JC Pennys subcontracts to? Thanks JCPennys. Our family used to be able to trust and depend on you. Order # 2017178540036200 will now try to be cancelled...We are indeed just another number in a sterile warehouse of incompetency and tact that lacks appreciation, knowledge, and concern for customers (I mean numbers.) read more
