I decided to try their curb pick-up and it was great! It only took a few minutes to have my item and I gotta say, it's the best curb pick-up among the large chain Department Stores. I usually get my Paul Mitchell products at the Montebello JCPenney, but was turned off that I had to pick it up inside and had my flimsy bag break on the way to my car. This place is just poorly managed or they just don't care much. One would think that presentation is part of the store's efforts to sell product. This store just doesn't seem to clean up and have a strong desire serve customers. What I mean by that is that the place is messy. It doesn't seem like ever fold up and straighten out the clothes at any time like most stores do. I visited this store to get a tie one day and found the selection just blah. But it was the messiness of the area that what just turned me off. So many other department stores to choose from. This is clearly a sign that the store is on its way out. Pass. read more

The emails should say, 'Order now so we can lose your order RIGHT BEFORE Christmas'. Ordered a simple T-shirt three weeks ago. Had to call multiple times just for them to be confused and tell me they don't know where my order is. Then finally, I was told the order is at the store, but when I called the to confirm I was told, 'It was received by an Andrew, but we don't have an Andrew at the store. This is a very good JCPenny...recently they have moved all their women's Liz Claiborn wear to the west entrance area in place of the Juniors wear...The swim suits are now in the middle section with the scarves and sunglasses...that makes more sense...The store is clean and well kept...It has the best prices of any dept store in that mall...They are a good place to go look around..If one cannot go one can go online and choose from vast selections which may come from the WestCovina Penny's which is much larger... read more

Why....are they rated 2.5 stars is beyond me???? I don't normally shop here because I've been a huge fan of Nordstrom but just May switch over because I got such great positive vibes when I visited them on Valentine's Day/2024. Staff here on the 1st floor were super friendly and nice guiding me to find Women's restroom. I will have to stop by shopping here some time. Wow. All their Cosmetic displays are very organized and neatly placed. I was in a rush so didn't browse a long time here. Thank you for providing me the super friendly service when I was just a passer-by but will have to take a deeper look into what their current sales are soon. Any ways. So i brought my elderly mom bra shopping.. the help is great BUT when you're in a walker and you can't move well to get to the bathroom or the changing room is crazy.. they have changing rooms in almost every section but they're closed because of the "pandemic" Im sorry the pandemic is over! She had to walk from one end of the store to go to the bathroom and then back to the other side to try on her bras.. it was simply ridiculous for the elderly to walk across the store .. do better JCPenneys! read more

I like the variety of clothes available at decent prices...all are well made and easy to care for.

I haven't stepped into a JCPenney store in years only because we don't have one in the state of Hawaii. But since I'm here in California, I visited the mall. Just how it was before, very clean, and a nice selection of seasonal clothing. It is winter now so there are nice vibrant red, white, purple, and other winter colors. Lots of sales on merchandise. Glittery selections for Christmas or New Years parties. They offer 25% off if you start a JCPenney charge card. I'm just giving up four star because I can't shop here unless I come back to the states or shop online. And I'd like to help community so I shop in person. read more

Overall, I think all of the sales associates I have come across here are really professional, friendly and courteous :) ! I used to shop more often at this JCP Arcadia location when I used to live and work in the San Gabriel Valley. But now that I'm not local here, I only come here when I happen to be visiting friends in the area. My main JCP store now is the location at the Westfield Culver City Mall, only because I live out in West Los Angeles now. I like the fact that JCP has really reasonable prices and discounts :) ! I buy a lot of baby onesies and toddler outfits and toys for my friends' kids! JCP usually has great prices on Okie Dokie, Carter's, etc, and these are prices you'll never find at other department stores. The only downside is that not all of these items are always readily available for immediate store pickup, or you can only order certain items online. For customers who want or need certain items right away, this might not be the most optimal. But for me, I am ok waiting for certain items to be shipped to me, or for them to be shipped to my local store for pickup. This flexibility on my part to be able to wait it out saves me a lot of money :) ! Certain other items I really like and have purchased for family and friends are the Disney collection (meaning Disney clothes and accessories for kids and adults, Disney plush animals, Disney toys, and Disney Enchanted jewelry), as well as UCLA sweatshirts and T-shirts through the JCP SportsFanShop. It's a given that JCP usually doesn't have big discounts on these types of items because of licensing reasons. They just simply can't because they have to pay licensing fees to Disney and to universities/colleges for selling their brands. But even so, I still purchase these items through JCP because they are still WAY cheaper and more reasonable than if I purchase these directly through Disney or UCLA. I still buy a bunch of gift items for family and friends at JCP and they love them :D !! But today, after meeting up with friends for lunch, I treated myself today and bought an item for myself :) ! I love being a JCP Rewards member and earning rewards for my purchases for every $200 I spend, and receiving their coupons both by email and my regular mail :D !! I do know that the biggest frustration some customers have is that there aren't always enough sales associates to assist, which can generate long lines. Today though, after 2 sales associates were swamped with many customers, a third sales associate promptly came out to the front to assist me and she was awesome :D !! read more

I usually enjoyed taking pictures at JCPENNEY portraits. I have been here before as well and even a trainee took good pictures- just take a bit longer. But I came here and had Carlton took our pictures He was not good. We had 2 little ones and he was the first staff who only take 1 shot per pose. He also took way less poses compared to the other photographers. Obviously the photos didn't turn out that good as kids would not be looking or be etc. Given that we were late 11 minutes previously and got cancelled on at this location, I was not happy when we were delayed for 15 minutes as they only had 1 staff on site in the weekend. First, they apparently just don't carry size 11.5 shoes for men. Not as if it's one of the most common sizes for men. Then, they offered a 35% off coupon for teachers, but excluded basically every brand they carry. Ridiculous. read more

The floors are fairly clean but their bathroom is always under maintenance. It's one thing to always clean it, that's great but there's been several times where there's multiple stalls out of order. A few times they were open at the same time as the mall and myself as well as other people were waiting and waiting. They didn't open till over an hour later. This is a nice jc penny they always have the sizes I need. And everything is spaced out nicely. read more

Changing my review to two stars based off of my experience today. I went to this store because they were having a sale on bras; buy two get one free. My bras cost a grip so this sale would have been beneficial for me. I usually go to the Hanes outlet bit again, I wanted to take advantage of this sale. Asked a store representative if I could be measured. I've lost soMe weight and need to be re measured. I was told that they didn't do that and that there was some sort of posted in the fitting room with instructions so that I could do it myself... umm really? When did they stop doing this? I looked and looked for what I thought may be my size. Went to try on about 4 bras and was disappointed. While I was in the fitting room there was someone in there gathering things to our back. I had on one of the bras and it was just fitting funny. I poked my head out to ask a question however she couldn't assist me. WTF, I definitely won't be coming back to this sorry JC Penny's again! It's a very neat store! Organized. I'll give them that. The woman that checked us out (Ruth) would not price match to what's online even though they allow that. She wouldn't get a supervisor or anyone else either. She just kept telling us to get a credit card. It was a good deal when you open a credit card of course, but she was literally ignoring us showing her the online price match to say look at what a good deal it is when you get a credit card. read more

JCPenney is now charging a small fee if you get your bill in the mail. Instead of giving you an option to choose for yourself, they give you no choice. So, if and when l go shopping there, if l don't have the cash to pay in full for something l like, l just won't buy it. This update was originally going to be a 1 star, but I had a change of heart because the manager actually contacted me back... I purchased a e-gift card from savemore.com, when I tried to use it in store, the cashier told me that he this certificate wouldn't work, but offered to call his manager. Minutes later two women (who never introduced themselves or identified if they were managers) told me that they would not be able to honor my gift card because it wasn't purchased on jcp.com. They continued to tell me that those third party certificates are fraudulent and that I should know better than to purchase something like it. Going further to embarrass me in front of the Christmas customer crowd waiting to get rung up, they continued to tell me that they've been trained to look at certificates like the one I was holding and how I should know it's fraudulent by the "typos" in the fine print. Really? The e-gift card was validated via phone, JCP customer service knew that the gift card was valid and didn't know why there were complications in store.... Oh and I managed to use the e-gift card (in the same JCP) without a problem a few days later. Sandra, the manager, contacts me the next day to make sure that my problem was resolved, apologized, and sent me a hand written note in the mail with a gift certificate. I really hope that I don't run into any more problems with inexperienced and uneducated sales associates in the future because I patronize this store pretty regularly. read more

Regret purchasing digital copies from the JCPenny photo studio. The girl did not know what she was doing. My 2 1/2 month old baby had to sit up on her own on a prop which she couldn't do.. they place the babies on the floor instead of propped on a table.. my photos on my digital download are blurry as well. I used their $10 off your $25 purchase so it was a great deal! JC Penney has a great selection in their clothing, and especially in their reduced price area. This store is relatively organized but the customer service is pretty bad. Of the 10 workers I passed by yesterday, 7 of them stared at me, and none of them even greeted or smiled. All they did was chat with each other. Dang, they sure are grumpy; it's just a job, people! The lines are horrible too, and slow because the registers are so unorganized. The transactions take long too because they have to call the department to confirm prices, for example. Reminds me of a classier Kmart. haha. read more

On trend clothes. Helpful sales people, who proactively engage (like in the old days at Nordstroms)... Amazing prices!! It's not the neatest store, and has a more BURLINGTON/KMART/TARGET feel...BUT... This WESTFIELD MALL location clearly has good management...who encourage customer service...I was asked by multiple sales people actually on the floor if they could help me find something...I was shocked because that hasn't happened in a while in any store, not Macy's, not Nordstroms, and definitely not a JC Penney's...and yet.... So five stars for good interaction with people on the sales floor...I saw them talk to customers, also putting clothes back on the floor from the fitting rooms. Fitting rooms were open and also seemed to be more plentiful at this location... BIG PLUS FOR HAVING PRICE CHECKERS that actually worked and checked tags! Whooohooo what a novel thing to have happen...a working price checking station!!! And more of them well placed in the store. Say what? I happened to be in the store during an "event"...I didn't know the store was having an event...but if they do, gooooo...because there's a markdown sale price and then on top of it, there's an "event" price...I bought a Bisou Bisou classic white blouse, retail $44 for $6. Say what? So this location is definitely trying harder. And bringing back good ol' fashioned customer service. YAY! read more

Discriminating prices: JCPenney has always had affordable decent items for past couple decades but their recent system of business me turned me off: you can find the same item online on their website and order for pick up, and that SAME item will be $5-10 more expensive if you had gone in the store and just paid at the register. So after bringing my kid to the store to see what they actually had in-person, I had to tell my kid to wait for the toy because I actually need to order it online and we can't just pay for it right then and there. So we had to come back and pick it up at a later time. According to their website, they claim they have a price- match guarantee, but they actually have no such thing. I talked to corporate on the phone the same day about why they say that they price match but it's not actually true in my experience and he said he just doesn't know why it says that online. Me either dude. I don't understand why they punish in-store shoppers?? This happened to me two different times on two separate occasions so it's not just a certain employee, this is corporate. it's just a lot of extra steps, quite unfair. Takes away the joy out of in-store shopping 100% for me. Also, it seems to me they are taking advantage of customers who aren't familiar with their online website (like a lot of elderly people). I don't know any other store that has such a discriminating difference in prices like this one. I canceled my card here and will now buy elsewhere with price transparency, not this shady stuff. Update: I spoke to JCPenney headquarters and they confirmed their prices don't always match. The man said he's not sure why their website says they do match guarantee (since they don't). I called them yesterday around after 2 pm, and they recorded the conversation. Look it up JCPenney, you have the recording. I used to love this store but not anymore. I went to try on clothes and they only have 1 fitting room open. A line of ladies waiting on a Tuesday morning when store wasn't that busy. The dressing rooms are dirty and rundown. JCP please spend a few bucks to fix the dressing rooms. Paint and a hooks go a long way. I also had to walk around the store looking for an open cashier. Portrait Studio ONLY !! Had appointment today at 1:15pm Arcadia Mall Location, did not take portraits because I was told my schedule appointment would not happen until 1hr+ later. No way am I waiting with a toddler hour over my schedule time. Reason, was we overbooked it's because of the holidays. Unacceptable, this is not standing in line trying to get Santa Claus pictures!!! This is a SCHEDULE appointment!!! The studio kids were crying people from 11am has been waiting for over an hour already. Was told also JC Penny books family every 15mins, Which is unacceptable. One family waited 2hrs. I'm really upset that such a big company did not take into consideration how long sitting times are actually suppose to be. Doing business like this is horrible, you had family's all in distress getting their photos done. Photos are suppose to be of happy memories, not all stressed out waiting beyond there schedule time. You need a better policy. Employees were stressed and families were all aggitated. Not the way to provide customer service. THIS REVIEW IS FOR THEIR PORTRAIT section. I went for newborn photos and they barely had any props for my baby. I specifically called and told them which basket I wanted that they are advertising all over their website , and when I was checking in, they had a pic of that same basket on full display in their showroom so I told the rep I want that basket and he assured me they had it. Time came for my babies photoshoot and they did NOT have that basket . In fact they didn't have any baskets for newborns. Didn't offer any wraps and I'm sorry but the covers they used to put my 3 week old on were so dirty. The photographers were so inexperienced . She took some horrible pics from really bad angles. I wanted to grab the camera and take the pics myself. She's taking my child's pic from under her chin so all you see are her nostrils . The pics came out NOTHING like what they are advertising. Prices are cheap but you end up getting what you paid for. I'm sooooo disappointed . Waste of time and waste of money. Go somewhere with professionals because these girls are notttt professional photographers. read more
