Let's start off with the good. The restaurant is very clean. Food came out to order like on the menu really good sushi. Tasty food no complaints on the food. Here's where the situation gets dicey, though I came to enjoy food in your restaurant you own a Brick + Mortar that was decision you decided to make so you added 15% onto my bill because I sat in your restaurant. I asked you if I could tip the girl that served me and then you said it already got applied to your bill 15% when in reality I thought it was good food and good service. I was gonna give the girls $10 but your payment system already charged me 15%. I don't know of any other sushi restaurants charging me to sit in the restaurant, but I will be going to those other restaurants instead of yours thank you for the delicious food. Otherwise the experience was kind of. Meh. There's really no sushi vibe in there you get charged to sit so nobody's really sitting in there everybody orders to go on some cheap China. BS trying to nickel and dime your Client that's wild. There's other solutions you can just charge accordingly and not have to make yourself look like you're cheap and don't want people eating in your restaurant. They're smarter ways to go about things. Ordered their #31 bento and it was very delicious and satisfying. Considering the price of fish nowadays, the price of this bento was reasonable. The ladies at the counter were very friendly and patient with me as this was my first time trying out this place. Will definitely come back next time I'm around this area. read more

Our baby was fussy so we ordered food to go to be considerate. While waiting for the food to be ready that took 30 minutes, our baby fell asleep so we decided we could eat in and not disturb anyone (there was only two other parties sitting in there and plenty of empty seats/tables). As soon as we opened the bag our food came in the old man came out and said "dine in only, need tip, table for guests". We ordered your food, we planned on leaving a tip, and there were no other guests waiting to eat there. It was empty and there was no line. Utage and Sugoi were closed for lunch yesterday, Sunday. Let's try here. Hubs said you're going to eat sushi? I'm sure there are cooked items, so we stepped in. If you dine in they automatically tack on 15%. You can counter that in the month of July 2025 if you have an ASB credit and debit card. A very soft spoken employee took our order. I enjoyed my beef udon a lot. Hubs said his spicy ahi bowl was okay. The bowls looked small but were just right for lunch. My matcha red bean drink was a bit sweet so when I reached home I kept adding a can of Chi Sparkling Water grape and it was just right. We bought 3 bags of their tea cookies. I could taste a faint shortbread flavor. Honestly I prefer WU Betty's cookies more. One bag was to try and two are going to Kauai. Very small, unassuming eatery. Pretty good fish for a reasonable price. Anything salmon is your best bet for fresh tasting fish. The spicy Ahi was cubed and a little bit chewy. The bento was $13 with previously frozen fish. I don't agree with the 15% service charge for dine-in customers. At the register, I could not see the 15% service charge on my bill so I almost gave tip which would have been a double tip. No one is walking around and refilling water. There is a trash can for you to throw away your own rubbish so what service am I paying for? I would scrap the 15% service charge and tip 10% on my own if I could. read more

I'm surprised I haven't left a review on this place yet! As far as "fast and inexpensive" sushi places go, this spot is a convenient favorite! You can dine in if you want, there's plenty of clean tables to relax and enjoy sushi as soon as it's ready. Or they are fast if you want it to go (and it's made fresh to order). I love how they include a generous portion of fresh wasabi, not the inferior wasabi packages that other spots tend to offer. And they give a portion of ginger that's really tasty and fresh tasting (for pickled ginger that is). Most other fast sushi places do not go to this length. The ingredients in the sushi have good rice proportions, and the fish tastes fresh and delicious every time. I especially love their seared garlic salmon! Their specialty rolls are quite large too. I've ordered sushi platters before and it doesn't break the bank which I appreciate. If you want dessert, they've got that too! They have baked goodies like cakes (whole if you need one for a special occasion or by the slice), macarons, cake pops etc. They also offer a wide selection of homemade cookies with unique Hawai'i flavors in packages that make great take home additions or gifts. They don't serve alcohol, but they have a selection of inexpensive drinks and even boba teas. Service is always fast and friendly. There's plenty of parking, you can pick up other things in the same shopping center like fresh fruits/ veggies and other things if you're buying food for a large family and someone wants something other than sushi. read more

This quaint little spot is convenient, affordable and yummy. Staff is very friendly and attentive to customers that are dining in while tending to the customers coming in for takeout orders. I love that we can get sushi close to home now. It's located on dillingham right next to thangs smoothies, they are right on the corner so it's easy to spot. They have sooo much varieties of sushi to choose from and it ranges from $11-$30. I must say though that the rice is a little on the hard side. I would rather have it like sushi rice but it doesn't taste like it is. My favorite sushi to get is their ahi/ garlic salmon. So so good. The service is really good. They are super nice once you enter and are very patient with you. You may do dine in. They have a lot of seats for you to choose to stay and eat. They also have ac so that's a plus! 2nd time here. At first this place looks good but its execution is a dud. It has potential to be way better. Ordered their best combo sushi set #33: Spicy Tuna Bomb, Unagi, Ikura, Salmon, Ahi, Ika, Ebi & Hamachi. The Ikura (Salmon eggs) were old and all shriveled up. The saddest Ikura I've seen in my lifetime and not fit to be served to customers. The nori on the Ikura sushi was rubbery and hard to bite through. The other sushi were ok but none of them notable. Their service sucks big time. On both occasions, had to wait a long time for someone to come out to the front counter to take my order. I could clearly hear 3 or 4 of them chatting in the back. Once one of them came out, they weren't very helpful in making suggestions from their huge menu of sushi and a variety of non-sushi goods like bakery goods like cake & cookies. The counter person just pointed at the menu, mumbled a few things and walked away for a long time before returning to take my order. The saving grace was the interior vibe looks inviting and there was ample seating. However, the ambiance was ruined when I saw a large cockroach crawl across the floor while I was waiting for my takeout order. If they stop using old food, did some pest management & stepped up their customer service, the potential for substantial improvement could be realized. I'll start by saying that I absolutely love the food here. Five stars for that. I mean, have you tried their grilled garlic salmon? It's so good it could probably convince a lifelong vegetarian to reconsider their life choices. Seriously, it's delicious! Their rolls are good too. However, what I'm not as enthusiastic about is the time it takes to get your food. We waited a good half an hour today for our meal, and it was a to-go order with nobody else in the place. Déjà vu hit me hard because the same thing happened when I was here in April. Honestly, I have more success ordering from them through Uber Eats, which seems ironic, doesn't it? That being said, if you have the time to spare, it's definitely worth the visit. The customer service has always been friendly, which makes the wait a bit more bearable. Stumbled across this cute little cafe when we were looking for Boba Milk Tea. After a delicious lunch with my friends and we wanted something sweet, dessert. Located in the Kapalama Shopping Center, parking right out front. The place is clean and it was empty when we went there around 3 pm. We all ordered Boba Milk Tea and they had a bakery case with all these pretty desserts in it. We each ordered a different dessert so we could try each one. We ordered the Red Velvet Cake, Mango Mousse Cake and the Japanese Cheesecake. All are Japanese style desserts, which I enjoy as they are light and not real sweet. All were delicious! read more

Whenever I'm in Dillingham this would be my go-to lunch spot! Hands down the best "fast food/convenient" sushi spots. Finally took my husband here for lunch so he could try and he's a very PICKY eater when it comes to sushi and prefers higher end sushi spots. But HE loved this place! From the quality of the food, the customer service, the ambiance and decor, it's truly amazing! A nice spot to have a cute lunch date. It was my first time dining in and they serve the food on plates instead of take out containers for that extra dine in experience. I also tried their black tea drinks and it was delish! My go to order is: Garlic salmon (5/5): the sear of the salmon with the garlic mayo and unagi sauce is just top tier! I don't know any place that sells this & it's seriously my favorite!! Spicy ahi inari (5/5): ahi is fresh with a little hint of spice! Mango black tea with lychee jelly (5/5): perfect balance of sweetness. It pairs nicely with the jelly. Food is great, the minimum 15% tip is a good excuse to provide poor service. That's a no go if people do that. The teller was telling me sometimes people don't tip at all. Hmmmm, I wonder, oh yeah I got it, cause your service is pretty bad! No refills on water, just the minimal courtesy check is everything good? I recently visited Jay's Sushi, conveniently located next to Thang's to celebrate National Sushi Day. Having been a fan of their sushi years ago when they were on Liliha and I was eager to see if the quality remained the same. I ordered my favorite the garlic ahi and salmon set, and I'm pleased to report that it was just as good as I remembered. The mayo garlic sauce is incredibly flavorful and the sear on top adds a wonderful depth to the taste. It's a delightful combination that really stands out. I also tried the tamago nigiri which were decent. They weren't the highlight of my visit but they were enjoyable nonetheless. There was a bit of a wait to get my order so I would phone order beforehand. Inside is clean and had good amount of seating for dining in. Jay's Sushi remains a great spot for sushi lovers. It was a nice size and I love shrimp tempura and salmon so i figured it'd be the best of both worlds. The sushi was tasty, the salmon had a very subtle taste because of the sauce, I wish I could've tasted the salmon a bit more but all in all I thought it was delish! I recently heard about this new sushi spot in Kalihi. It is located on the first floor in the strip mall with Sugoi's, Young's Fish Market, Thai Village, and Thangs. I finally had the chance to try it today. We walked in and was greeted by the employee behind the counter. They have regular tables and high bar-like tables available as well for inside dining. There are many choices to choose from. The menu includes sushi sets, sushi rolls, baked items, bowls, udon, bentos, California sets, party platters, assorted nigiri & maki sushi. We ordered: 1. Beef Bowl - I took the first bite, was very impressed and loved it. The beef was thinly sliced and mixed with sliced onion. It was full of an amazing flavor unlike others I have tried. A definitely MUST TRY! 2. Garlic Salmon & Hamachi Set - These were the second and third items I tried and I was not disappointed one bit. Both the salmon & hamachi were very delicious. The garlic mayo sauce was just enough and seared well. (Also a MUST TRY) 3. Garlic Salmon & Spicy Ahi Set - The spicy ahi was good as well. Not too spicy but just enough. 4. Salmon Bone - Delicious salmon with just enough salt and pepper for taste. The cost was also only $8.95 for about 8-9 pieces. Everything we ordered was really really good. I ordered an order of tamago, and a set of california roll with garlic ahi. Their prices are a bit on the higher end for basic and cheap options like the Cali and the tamago. Most places would charge more for salmon than ahi, but I asked to switch out salmon for ahi and they said it would be an extra $2 to change. I guess they just charge all adjustments? Sometimes I go to their counterpart, jays cafe, for fruit teas. But they have the same drink menu here so I thought I'd save myself the walk and the ordering time and just order it with the sushi. Big mistake. I ordered a peach green tea, no ice. When the drink came out, it was murky. Like a yogurt drink. I asked the lady to make sure and she confirmed it was a peach green tea. But the other store has the standard peach green tea... the clear, amber ish kind. Kind of weird that their drinks don't match when they're counterparts. It also didn't taste like a peach green tea, definitely tasted like a yogurt drink. So if you want to order a drink, just go to Jay's cafe instead of ordering it here. The sushi, wasn't my favorite. The garlic ahi wasn't to my taste, unfortunately. The other two were very basic, normal. Service here isn't as good as at their cafe. read more

I've been here twice and loved the food both times. Made with fresh fish, can't to wrong with the pricing. This time around, I ordered one of their specials which was the garlic salmon and Hamachi. 8 pieces for $11.99! Yes, can't go wrong. It's also made to order so be patient. I devoured my food in less than 10 minutes. LoL! The fish is also torched with mayo and topped with unagi sauce. They don't over torch it to where the fish gets cooked. My Husband ordered the teriyaki chicken bowl which came on a bed of rice and side of ocean salad and takuan (pickled radish). The chicken was nice, tender, hot, and flavorful! We ate here on a whim and LOVED it. It wasn't too busy and the place is very clean. The ambiance inside is cheery. We ordered takoyaki, an impressive mix of sushi in #33, shrimp tempura, and a sobomb bowl. The food was awesome. The shrimp tempura was delicious but pretty small for my preference, also there was no usual tempura dipping sauce served with it. Its probably like the size of a Burger King chicken fries, but you get 4. Its fine though, as we all enjoyed it regardless of size. The desserts and teas are awesome. Check out their dessert case! The only so-so thing was the young girl serving us. She was very quiet and expressionless which is okay, because when I was younger I was the same way, but at one point when we finished the first round and ordered another round of food, I caught an eye roll as she turned away, and that wasn't cool, because we were just really happy to have found a nice place with such great tasting food. It was really minor though, as I also used to do that when younger, but just not when catering to customers.
