I read the reviews about Nick's and decided we had to try this place. What a fantastic little neighborhood gem, brought me back in time to a real old school diner. We were greeted by multiple employees as we walked in, everyone was so friendly. We had immediate and excellent service by Andy, and we both had omelettes that were absolutely delicious! While paying our bill at the register I immediately sensed the young lady assisting us was part of the ownership and I was right, it was Nick's daughter Heather! It was a really pleasure to talk to her, the whole place has such a great vibe, and as I've already mentioned the food was excellent! We will 100% be returning to Nick's and hopefully not in the too distant future! Thank you Nick's!!!

For example, I ordered two ham and cheese croissants and the best substitution they could offer for something savory was an egg sandwich. They wouldn't add ham or any other meat. They have a ham sandwich for $1 more and a ham crepe for the same price that I wasn't even offered. They were only willing to offer me something $3 less than what I paid as a substitute. Cheap and terrible service. Would not pick up the phone after calling to correct the substitution 4 times. They've lost a customer (who already placed a $45 order and was accommodating to other substations) because they were cheap and unreachable when they didn't have much of what I ordered many hours before they closed.

I knew they The Daily Dish closer to us which we have not been but did not know they also own JJ Hollingers. I also knew they were on InKind which we prebought discounted Costco gift cards for. I walked into the bar and they already sat my wife in the dining room which is divided seating from the bar. The service was friendly and ambiance had the cute Kensington feel expected. To drink we tried the Green Eyed Girl, Brown Sugar Old Fashioned, and Blueberry Paloma cocktails. Our entrees which we truly loved was the Pan Seared Duck Breast and Pan Fried Branzino which was so fresh and gourmet. We also shared the Peach Crumble which we loved.

Really solid four stars and a strong recomend fora cozy, relaxed and casual dinner with your partner, freinds, yourself or family. The only note is parking in their lot is nigh impossible some times, so your best bet is to find street parking nearby and drop anyone who can't walk all that far. If you don't drink they seem to have a limited NA beer selection, and I didn't see any mocktails. We really liked our beet salad and our Ceasar salad, which came out os fast, I wonder if they already had them prepped. I really liked my fish and chips as it was a nice portion and wasn't heavy on the frying at all. It was very well done and the tartar sauce was great. My wife got the (I think it was a special) Tuna poke for her main, which she said was really tasty. But, it also looked like a small portion in one of those weird plates that only had a modest divut in the middle for food. Nonetheless, she liked it a lot. If it becomes a mainstay, they just need to make it a bigger portion on a better bowl. We're happy we finally came and will return.

The coffee is above average in quality. Yesterday bagels are really cheap, heck if you buy a half dozen fresh bagels, tomorrow they will already be a day old. The bagel was crunchy on the outside, but soft (and not doughy) on the inside. The hummus was creamy and flavorful. Overall, an excellent bagel. Sadly, that's followed up by the bad news. The bad news is that the coffee was terrible. Weak, not much flavor. I did something I have not done with coffee - I threw it out. For $3.89 for a large cup at a bagel shop, I expected more. Just awful. I don't know if it was the brand of coffee or just a bad batch. There's half and half available, but no other milk/non-dairy options. There are 4 very small tables in the place for standing only. Based on pictures I've seen on Yelp, they used to have a few tables there for sitting. I came today hoping to sit for a few minutes and enjoy a bagel with coffee. Not here. Finally, I ordered and the person who prepared my bagel called out my number and put the bag on the counter. I checked my ticket, confirmed the number, went to take it and another worker (the guy who took my order) ran over, grabbed the bag, asked me for the number and told me it wasn't mine. Then he asked the other person what the number was, she said my number and then he dropped the bag on the counter and told me I could take it. Weird experience. There were only two people waiting for orders at the time - not a huge opportunity for a mixup. Just weird. So, I recommend the place for take-out but skip the cup of Joe. And don't expect smiling faces behind the counter. (Even if you tip the guy like I did.)

You have a choice between AYCE or by the pound. I know last time I came I got AYCE but honestly I don't eat that much anymore, so by the pound is more cost effective for me. There also are two different prices based on whether you want BBQ + sushi with your buffet. (Sushi??? I'll stick to BBQ when going Brazilian.) I tried to sample small amounts of the dishes on the buffet and then got some picanha and another steak cut (maminha). Both BBQ cuts were very good - I liked the maminha more. (Fraldihna is my usual favorite, and it's kind of similar to the maminha.). They had a chicken with capers that was probably my favorite of the buffet dishes. The stroghanoff wasn't bad. Some of the other meat dishes on the buffet were a bit dry. I got a mystery empanada which turned out to be guava & cheese, if it had been warmed it would have been better. I love guava, but there was just a little small rectangle of guava paste in the very center; probably 80% of the empanada had no filling. Similarly, the cheese bread balls were cold and hard. Those need to be right out of the oven to be worth it. It's a shame, they probably were good when they were first made but they weren't by the time I got to them. The potato salad was ok but the balance of mayo to potato & other veg was off (too much mayo). I had some fresh fruit too. All in all, I'd definitely come back (I love the steak!) but I'd focus on the things I know are good rather than trying a lot of things.
