I just had a take-out coffee, so can't comment on the food. The pastries/cakes in the front counter look very good though. The place is nice inside - comfortable and inviting. I saw a few people sitting inside, one with a laptop. There's also outdoor seating. It looks like a place you could get comfortable and hang, although it's pretty small and might get busy sometimes. The service was OK. Not particularly welcoming. Didn't ask if I wanted room for cream - you might want to mention it if you do because my cup was pretty full. I'll say that the lack of warmth/interest by the Staff seemed contrary to the positive vibe the place gives off. A lot of my score is associated with that conflicting vibe. The coffee itself was rich and bold. I liked it a lot. There's creamer available; I didn't see any non-dairy milks on the counter and I didn't ask. Food: 3.5/5 for the price I paid for a lunch sandwich, I expected it to be better. The piece of chicken itself was plain but juicy, and not enough honey mustard. This was something I could make better at home unfortunately. Service: 4/5 we used the kiosk to order and it seemed like only some things could be customized and other things couldn't. The service was polite and took less than 10 min for things to be ready, but it was annoying that I couldn't ask for a different kind of cheese on the breakfast sandwiches and I could remove tomatoes but not the red onions off my sandwich. Cute little coffee shop with yummy chai. I got an iced chai and it was sweet and good. Their caprese salad was also appetizing, but needed a bit more balsamic. I heard about the cafe from a coworker and decided to go during lunch and needless to say I'm never going back for a few reasons. When I walked in it didn't smell pleasant I proceeded to order. The young lady that helped me select a menu item was really nice and helpful as I was waiting near the condiment station I observed the person working the kitchen completing orders and she did not look like she was having a good day at all. She was very rude and disrespectful the elderly customer and slamming everyone's food including mine which made me want to get a refund due to her maltreatment of peoples food. The latte tasted really burnt and the flavor syrup doesn't taste like a good quality. The waffle was not crispy at all. One upside was they did have a lot of fruit on the waffle. I am not exaggerating it had soap in it I brought it back the waitress if you want to call her that poured a little bit for herself she spit it out immediately because it had soap in it. The coffee literally tasted like tap water with a few drops of coffee in the tap water. We were in the shopping center & the Girlfriend was in the mood for something sweet so we stopped in to ogle the dessert case in this little shop. She selected the Peanut Butter Explosion - a small puck of chocolatey PB deliciousness. We ordered at the counter - there is also a self-serve ordering kiosk as well. Nice coffee shop café with a cool outdoor area that is probably amazing when the weather is nice. The service was great but I'm giving it 3 stars because the food just want very good. It was prepared fine, but the bagel sandwich and lreakfast wrap we had were pretty bland. The egg tasted like those reheated frozen egg patties, the cheese was flavorless and the bagel had seen better days. For the price I would hope for better ingredients. The Paul Revere was decent, bagel itself was ok, however I wished they had hot sauce or something (counter only offers salt, pepper, ketchup and mustard). The matcha latte was ok. They have a self-service kiosk or you can order with an employee. There's a long counter by the large window for those using laptops. Wifi is free and works well. I was really excited to try this local cafe that seemed to have vegan options like avocado toast, a garden wrap, and spring rolls. The business is located close to Rock Creek Trail and I thought a morning routine of a run and breakfast here could be started. When I visited today I ordered an oat milk latte, and then asked if their avocado toast was vegan. The woman at the register said no. I then asked if anything on the menu was vegan. She again replied with a no. I walked away with just an oat milk latte. The latte was creamy and tasted as expected. I enjoyed it. I am sad, however, that the menu lacks a vegan option. I am hoping that this was simply a misunderstanding in what vegan means. If not, then I think it would be wise for this business to purchase a vegan bread to accommodate vegans that want breakfast or lunch sandwiches. Following Yelp MD Burbs on Facebook is always great but today was even better! Through their Facebook page I found out that Norby's Cafe was offering a free açaí bowl (only valid for 02/26/2020). Having never had an açaí bowl or knowing anything about it-I ventured over to Norby's to try it out. I arrived around 3:25pm and the place was basically empty. Art work from local schools hung on the wall and Backstreet Boys was playing over the speaker system- I was very excited. When it came time to order I was handed a small piece of paper to check what I wanted in my bowl. I went with: banana, granola, peanut butter, Nutella, and a chocolate drizzle. I handed my slip in and waited about 15 minutes. I have to say there was little to no engagement. I had zero idea why this promotion was going on or why it was special. I found little to no signage besides a sign out front stating they had açaí bowls. It wasn't until I over heard another customer inquiring that I learned today is Norby's first day selling açaí bowls. Normally they will be $9.75. Having never had one I can't gauge if that's expensive or not. Once I got my bowl I was surprised how large it was. It's definitely shareable and was made exactly how I ordered it. I overly enjoyed my bowl, not just because it was free but because it tasted great! It tasted like a smoothie on steroids. The only thing I would do is maybe layer it. Towards the end all of my toppings were gone and I craved more. I do feel like Norby's missed the mark with customer interaction and could've used this as an opportunity to inform people why the promotion was happening. But other than that I enjoyed my visit and wouldn't think twice about returning. read more

The women running the shop did everything they could to make my friend and I feel unwelcomed. I had been here before multiple times, but the last time my friend and I went, the lady at the counter walked away from us in the middle of us ordering. We then sat down because we assumed she was too busy to take our order, and another lady came and told us to go back to the counter and order because they were "closing soon" (it was 1:30 p.m., and they closed at 5). The lady had started sweeping and putting up chairs, acting like they were closing. She had actually done this another time when I was by myself, but I didn't realize she was doing it in bad faith. We were put off by this and decided to get our drink from starbucks across the street and come back to sit down and talk (there was no seating area in the starbucks) and the lady freaked out on us. Did everything she could to get us to leave. We refused because she wouldn't give us a real reason, so she pretended to close the entire shop and made everyone leave so we would go. Yikes. read more

I've been to Norbys a few times and they're very hit or miss. In my most recent trip I had the corned beef rueben and my wife had the 3 cheese grilled cheese. My Rueben was very good and it came with a pickle and a bag of chips. My wife's sandwich on the other hand was inedible as they left pieces of paper attached to each piece of cheese. This is pretty careless as there was more than 1 piece of paper in her sandwich. In the past, I've enjoyed their breakfast sandwiches and their acai bowl. I've found their muffins to be bland. The acai bowl tasted great but their presentation on it wasn't the best. I really hope these guys figure it out because there is a lot of potential here. read more

Hidden in the corner of Rock Creek Village Center is Norby's Cafe. I visited on the day that they were offering the free açaí bowls. The açaí bowls seem to be a new item, since I didn't find it on the wall menu. At the cash register, they have a little stack of paper for you to fill out and choose your açaí bowl toppings. I chose the strawberries, blueberries and bananas, coconut shavings, and chia seeds, but they also had honey and peanut butter. For $9.95, they give a decent amount of açaí bowl. It took a bit of time to wait, but it was a nice treat. I don't know if I would go out of my way for the açaí bowl, but if I'm in the area, it's worth trying or checking out their other menu items like baked goods, smoothies and sandwiches. read more

I got bananas, blueberries, strawberries, kiwi, granola, chia seeds, and Nutella drizzle. I'm not sure what the smoothie base was since there wasn't an option to choose, but it was delicious. The atmosphere was very cozy. They had art from a local elementary school in the cafe, and cool succulent plants around the cafe. Norby's is convenient and close and we enjoy the food and coffee. But in the years that we have been going, they have never once opened on time. The door might occasionally be unlocked, but nothing is ready and nothing is on. We watch the cook show up 15 minutes late every time, so if you're hungry or in a hurry, it's best to not be there when they "open". read more
