Ok ok now I see what the hype is all about haha! First visit and decided on the Goldie mango bowl. Omg soo good and soo refreshing, enough said. Enjoyed it seating outside with pup since it's nice weather, definitely perfect to cool down then. Would need to back trying their acai bowl and their coffee next! :) read more

I've been to this location several times, but my latest experience was a little out of the ordinary. I went around noon, and a line started forming behind. There was only one worker at the front, so she went back and forth between taking and making orders. While she was making one bowl, I noticed a cockroach crawl along the cashier side. I was pretty alarmed by this, but the roach came from a different corner where the fruit they use was ...but still lol...not something I love seeing. Eventually, another worker came out and helped make the orders. I waited about 15 minutes for my bowl. It wasn't a big deal, but it was definitely longer than I have ever had to wait. The group in front of me ordered 2 bowls and theirs came out after mine which was a little weird. There was also another customer who came to pick up an online order and her order didn't get started until after mine was done, so I don't know if online ordering actually speeds the process up. read more

It's playa bowls lol. If you like paying $14 for an açai bowl, this is the place for you. I'm joking, of course. The price is what it's always been açai bowls, or these type of establishment in general have never been super cheap, but the quality has always been amazing so I think it's worth it. I actually prefer going there for smoothies, and they make it really easy for you to customize if you want. Service is always great and I've never had to wait more than five or 10 minutes for my order even when they're slammed. The atmosphere is always my favorite part of this. It feels like you're walking into a surf shop in Hawaii. I'm always for a place that gives you a lot of of healthy options, and this certainly isn't lacking in that read more

I've passed by many times, but first time to try and stepping in felt like I was transported to a beach town or Hawaii... I liked the vibe and the vibrant chalkboard menu with the huge selection! Service was standard, wasn't too busy and didn't wait too long. The fruits were fresh and I was able to get the Pura Vida Açaí bowl with half coconut. I liked the taste, but as another review mentioned, it was melty and runny even though I was eating it within 5 minutes of getting the order. I got it as breakfast, but was still hungry after. For $12 a bowl, the value wasn't there for me, but maybe that's just all açaí bowls. read more

Got a fruit bowl this morning and it was amazing. I love Playa Bowls because of the bowls. I just love a good fruit mix. I'm basic though so I always get the same thing lol. I get the Pura Vida Açaí bowl with extra honey. It's a combo of açaí base, granola, strawberries, blueberries, and honey. Best combo ever! There were two young men that helped me today and they were awesome and quick to make my bowl. I was in & out. The place was clean and they had good music playing. I'll definitely be back because these bowls are delicious! Stop by when you get a chance! read more

Great menu and cool store but the staff needs better trading / to care about they are doing if this place is going to succeed. Twice in a row our orders have been wrong. This time the smoothies were just wrong flavor and consistency. Hope they figure it out! read more

So Today Isabella was the one to try and turn my day around. I like the Puravita it was filled with fruit, only thing the frozen Açaí is getting lower Ever week. Now they want you to pay to get an extra bowl? Why if you want it filled up to the neck of the bowl? Wont even allow you to pay extra on the side? Sounds kinda greedy to me? Don't spoil a good thing FOLKS! I love this place but hate when things change? Who has $25 for two bowls die to them weighing what they put in your bowl now? I'm just sayin? And brought a guest, at least he liked his Green smoothie. Kinda let me down again same thing happened in Kensington? 2 visits in one week? $50 dollars later and CANT say I was to happy. Playa Bowls - Purse Vita Bowls Best thing in town! Enjoy something like this after a workout ‍ and feel better about you. - Acai Bowls Near Me - Potomac, Maryland

Saw Playa Bowls on the last few visits to Cabin John Village and finally decided to give it a try. First ... SO MANY CHOICES ... given Covid times when the requirement is to get in, order, and get out pronto, recommend you go onto their website beforehand to peruse the menu (because trying to decide what you want standing inside will take way too long!) Got the Pura Vida acai bowl, and it was delicious. Honestly, while I didn't need the extra calories of the honey drizzle, it was super tasty. Now I just have to make sure I don't make this a daily trip . read more

I've been to Playa Bowls twice now gor breakfast and stuck with the acai base on both occasions. I preferred the nutella bowl over the pura vida. The pura vida came with an acai base topped with granola, strawberries, blueberries and honey. I found half my bowl was drenched in honey, which made that side way too sweet for my liking. The nutella bowl also came with an acai base, but was topped with granola, bananas, strawberries, coconut flakes, and Nutella. I like how the Nutella was drizzled and spread all over the bowl. The coconut flakes added an additional crunch. Fruit toppings for both bowls were fresh. They both also came with just the right amount of granola. The bowl is definitely a good size and price is decent. Playa Bowls is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and looking for a healthier meal option. read more

Young, trendy, and VSCO girl approved are my first impressions of Playa Bowls. The people who work there couldn't be nicer. They explained to me that each bowl is built on one of two basis, one is green and a little less sweet, and the other is purple and taste a little fruitier. Then, there are hundreds of toppings and combinations to choose from. Thanks Abigail, after reading your review, I went for the Nutella and coconut drizzle on my bowl. It also had strawberries, granola, and bananas. The base reminds me of a more icy frozen yogurt. But, they are quick to explain that these bowls do not have any milk in their base. It was delicious, but at the price of $12.00 a bowl, you have to decide is it worth it? As a healthy alternative, I would make an exception every once in a while. But, that is a lot to pay for a bowl. The restaurant itself is cute with a tropical theme. So, ask yourself, are you a playa? My response would be, on occasion....: ) read more

This place is heaven on earth. I love the beach ambiance, the team behind the counter is always friendly and provide a true teamwork vibe. And I have yet to order a Playa bowl that is less than delicious. I'm a needy customer always asking their recommendations as menu options abound! The staff is always friendly, informative, and patient with my many questions. Tried Playa Bowls for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! I got the electric mermaid with pitaya base, topped with mango, kiwi, pineapple, granola, and coconut flakes. I had no idea what the size the bowl would look like (ordered pick up online), so I decided to add extra toppings in case the bowl was too small. My bowl with extra topping was the perfect portion, and came out to be around $15. Overall I thought the bowl was very tasty! The fruits were fresh and the bowl wasn't overly sweet. I added chia seeds as an extra topping and it added a nice crunch. I actually really liked the coconut flakes too, tasted better than the kind I've had before. Overall positive experience and would try again. However, the high price point is what would deter me from getting it on a regular basis. The staff was friendly and the place wasn't too busy on a Sunday morning. read more

I was super excited when I heard about Playa Bowls opening in Cabin John. This location shares a parking lot with multiple retailers, it can get a bit hectic on the weekends... but parking is often a non issue. The decor inside is super cute, very beachy and tropical :) There is limited seating inside so I decided to take my order to go. I came here for the first time on a Saturday afternoon with a friend, the line was out the door so I took that as a good sign. I ordered the Green Power Bowl which comes with Green Blend (Kale, Banana, Pineapple, Coconut Milk), Granola, Banana and Almond Butter. The menu is HUGE so took me a minute to decide, luckily the line was long so I had plenty of time to think it over :P I was very happy with my pick, the ingredients are fresh and the flavors blended well together. I devoured my bowl :) Staff were slammed, my only suggestion would be for staff to bag takeout for the customers. I had ordered my bowl to go, but when my bowl came out there was no lid and bag. I had to grabbed staff's attention to request a lid and bag, it was hectic and I hated standing at the counter trying to flag someone down :( Overall, my experience was positive and I would return back to Playa Bowls. Hopefully staff has worked out the kinks and the same issue wouldn't happen again if I returned. read more

Nothing beats an açaí bowl on a nice chilly day. And even better, this place offers the option to do a combination of bases. We both decided on the açaí and chia base. Very nice to enjoy a bite of açaí and then a bite of chia...or both together! Fun little atmosphere with friendly and fast service. Portions are just the right amount. We will be back. Delicious bowls but oh so slow. The employees are lovely and working nonstop, so it's not like you can get mad at them, but it took them 30 minutes to make one bowl for an order ahead order. I was about 10 minutes away when I ordered, so I sat and waited in the place. One order trickled out at a time, minutes apart. Just no idea how this approach is sustainable for them. People were getting super annoyed. I would not come back unless I had an hour to waste, but if you're feeling chill and craving a bowl, it's probably worth it! read more

The smoothies and bowls at Playa Bowls are the Real. Deal. Y'all. Not only do they offer more bowl bases than I've seen elsewhere (açai, coconut, green, banana, chia, and oatmeal), they let you do half & half. Yep, you heard me right. Anyway their menu is extensive with tons of really well thought out and creative topping and base pairings. (Honestly an overwhelming number of options so you may wanna check out the menu online ahead of time if you're like me.) We opted for some winter seasonal options because who doesn't wanna celebrate the holidays as early as possible? Enter the gingerbread smoothie: banana, vanilla protein, gingerbread spice, cashew milk, and pumpkin granola BLENDED IN. Still drooling. $7 Our other pick was the North Pole Bowl: açaí base, topped with banana, raspberries, granola, Nutella, and crushed peppermint. They truly outdid themselves with this one. I could order it all year long. We did half and half acai and coconut since I really wanted to try the coconut base but I wouldn't recommend and might steer clear from the coconut going forward-- it has a very weak flavor that is dominated by toppings. Bowl was $12 Bowls are a little on the pricey side but honestly pretty comparable to what I've seen elsewhere in the area. Definitely recommend stopping by, especially to try some of the more unique flavor combos like the winter specials. read more

This place is AMAZING! I wanted to try açaí bowls since they have tons of nutrition and of course, very trendy. My best friend took me here and I was blown off by the interior already. Inside is very tropical, Hawaii surf shop type vibes with TONS of options on the menu. It took me quite a while to decide what to order but I went with Nutella- per recommendation of my friend. It was creamy, delicious, and soft. I'm excited to come back and try their other bowls! While it is super delicious, it does run quite expensive at $12/bowl. I'd say it would be a nice treat here and there. Staff were super quick and friendly! I got my bowl as soon as I was done paying! I would definitely recommend you to try :) read more

Went to this location after having a bad experience at the Kensington location...staff were all friendly, helpful and polite

The food at Playa Bowls has always been fresh and delicious. However, I went to pick up an order two days ago around 1 pm, and in the midst of a pandemic, the teenage employee who was running the food was not wearing gloves or a mask, then she let a group of about 5-6 of her friends into the shop - none of them wearing a mask. On a separate occasion, I went to Playa Bowls to get a cold brew coffee and the employee that took my order didn't know they had cold brew...the tap is next to the register... The food at PB is always great, but the owner needs to take more responsibility, or employ someone who isn't a teenager at the local high school to run the store if they're not going to be there. 5 stars for the food, 2 stars for the service. read more

I tried Playa Bowls for the first time via UberEats. I ordered the Electric Mermaid Pitaya with extra granola and Goji berries. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the bowl, and the amount of fresh fruit included (for reference, I usually expect less than what I would receive in-person). The bowl was filling, and the ingredients were fresh! I shared the bowl with my little one and she was so satisfied. Although a little pricey for delivery, I will definitely order them again or stop by in person for a bowl. read more

While the service is fine- $8 for a smoothie that has zero flavor whatsoever is ridiculous. This strawberry banana "smoothie" tastes like water with a hint of banana. Did they forget an ingredient? I don't know, but stick to the açaí bowls because the smoothies ain't it, girl. read more

Are you looking for a healthy and refreshing food option in Potomac? Look no further than Playa Bowls. This was my first time visiting but definitely won't be my last. Inside had a great vibe and the staff was friendly. They have a ton of options from bowls to oatmeal and smoothies. I like how fresh all the ingredients were and the many customizations you could make. I wanted to try a couple different bowls and I don't know about you but if there are too many options I get overwhelmed lol. The manager was really helpful and suggested I get the Açaí Power Bowl but instead of a full severing of the açaí base I do half banana so I could taste both. I also decided to add some strawberries and it was perfect. Great balance between the sweetness of the fruit, hint of peanut butter, and granola crunch. Honestly all that was missing was a beach for me to eat my bowl at. I highly suggest checking this place out! read more

Sorry but your better off going to the one in kentlands or dc. This location isn't the best specially the customer service. I had no issue with the male but the girl had an attitude for no reason. After the guy took my order and I paid cash the girl intervened and said they don't accept cash & sadly I didn't have my card (while she's counting cash from a previous customer) she said "we stopped accepting cash at 7:45" I look at my phone and it's 7:49 ... then after a few awkward seconds she says "just know for next time I'll accept this now." & I'm like okay! But then she asked me this and I'm not sure if I took it the wrong way maybe I'm being sensitive but this is what she said, "do you want your 3 cents?" I kindly declined. As I'm eating my fruit bowl, the series of events replayed in my head and it hit me. I wonder why she asked me if I wanted 3 cents. Instead of saying something like "would you like your change" I don't know why she was so upset with me. Also the presentation of my fruit bowl was very messy and food on the outside. read more

I literally come here everyday :) great pre-gym snack! I've always ordered my açaí bowls with the topping on the sides. Today they asked me why I always ask for that, and I said it's cause I mix my protein in there since I track my calories. They then told me to bring my protein in and they would mix it for me. Came in night of 3/22 to get a smoothie. None of the 3 girls working up front were wearing a mask. They leave them on their necks. Owner can watch camera footage to prove this. First off I must say, I don't want to write this review because I love these bowls. The food is terrific but this location is filthy. Every surface is dirty, all the containers have spill stains, there are crumbs everywhere, the screen to select tip & sign after paying with a cc is smudged, the bathroom resembles a gas station's. I could go on but I hope my message is clear. This location is gross. It looks like it hasn't been properly cleaned in months.
