Love this little place. Low key atmosphere. The baked goods are great. My favorite is the morning buns but they also have good bagels. The prices are reasonable and the two women usually working, are friendly and efficient. It's a nice stop after the farmer's market!

The fresh bagel and lox was great! Everything was prepared fresh and hot! Super fast and friendly service. Java Jax has a sorta retro/old school diner vibe complete with red bartop stools. The parking situation is either street parking and their little designated lot. The lot reminds me of an apartment garage lot. So it may honestly be easier to park on the street. They also offer pastries and sandwiches. I see this more as a casual grab and go place although they do have plentiful seating. I'd come back to grab another bagel!

At Java Jax, expect to come in, order your stuff, and get it done right. The main guy, tho seemingly grumpy actually is quite friendly under his curmudgeon demeanor. To the left, you'll see a small frame of the famous internet cat- Grumpy Cat, which was gifted to him for obvious reasons, sitting on the counter. He seemed to be amused to share that. I know I was amused he did. The two vegans ordered lattes with the non-dairy options of almond, oat and soy milks. I went with soy, the friend went with oat. We were both happy with our coffees and the ratio of espresso that was used. They welcomed personal cups, which was nice. One less piece of trash for landfill. The price was SUPER REASONABLE unlike in other parts of The Bay. It didn't appear there were any vegan pastries but to be honest, we weren't sure we would even find dairy-free options so no complaints there. We just stopped in for a quick pick-me-up before heading over to Better Chew's Kitchen's grand opening. We'll definitely stop in again the next time we're in the area.

This is a small coffee stop underneath a motel and easy to do a quick drive by. We went on a random morning and there was the only old guy, poor dude. Apparently whoever works for him didn't show up. So he was running around and there was quite a line. The menu is extensive from bagels, breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs, etc. A good spot for a quick stop if he had a full staff working maybe the service would have been faster. But not a place I'd regularly go to for my breakfast.

Skip the chains, this place is phenomenal! I have been looking for a coffee spot that retains flavor but offers vegan friendly coffee alternatives and this spot hit me right where I needed it! Everywhere else my coffee tastes diluted or bland. Not here though! I got an iced mocha with soy milk and the flavor is addictive! The man working behind the counter was kind enough to let me know the blending mix they use isn't vegan friendly, but was happy to make me an iced one! The place was clean, and the atmosphere was relaxing, lovely staff. Excited to make this my new spot!

Driven by this place a thousand times, always curious of the hot dog special for $4.50. Finally stopped and parked and ordered the special. Chicago dog style with a bag of chips and a can of soda for under $5. Best bang for your buck meal if your looking for that low priced hot dog fix. Sac's is still great but if you want to try something new, I suggest you pull up and try it out. Great hospitality as well. read more

I cherish visiting Java Jax whenever I visit Vallejo. What this local business has is consistency. Another poster, J.B., critisizes the owner for his demeanor. Maybe the bespectacled owner isn't doing excited backflips everytime a guest comes into the cafe, but he runs a tight ship and you always know you're going to get good service and a perfect cup of coffee. I'd prefer honest, serious customer service than someone being fake and kissing my a** everytime I'm there. Java Jax I love you! read more

I go to Java Jax to appease my weekly (if not more) craving for a bagel & lox sandwich. Staff is always friendly, they take care in getting your order right, and they're not stingy with the cream cheese if that's your thing. They have a nice selection of fresh pastries, and really good breakfast sandwiches. I have not had the chance to try any of there lunch items, but I'm sure they're exceptional also. Did I mention they serve Double Rainbow ice cream!! They're located in the downtown area of Vallejo with an "old-time" feeling. Outdoor sitting is nice, I myself have not had the chance to enjoy since I grab and go. I think they may also have free WiFi. read more

I am so glad to have found this place! I am from San Francisco and recently moved to Fairfield and could not stand going to Starbucks for coffee that tasted awful. I can honestly say this place reminds me of the small coffee shops in San Francisco. The coffee tastes good, they have bagels, and sandwiches- all good. On a Sunday morning I found myself in Vallejo. With a couple of hours to kill. It was coffee time and I was in an unfamiliar city so checked out Yelp on my IPhone. Drove over to Java Jax and ordered a cappuccino and a bagel with lox and cream cheese. They were both excellent. I spent two hours there reading the New York Times. The barista was an affable chap and the local coffee drinkers were quite pleasant. Allin all a very positive experience. read more

Had a breakfast bagel with ham and a turkey club for lunch. Both were a little mild tasting (could also mean healthier and lower sodium) The ordering process was really long and cumbersome. Got a double tuxedo mocha and a chocolate croissant for my son. Fresh and soft in the middle with a bittersweet chocolate in the middle. Omg its good! My son really enjoyed it. The gentleman in front is really outstanding and friendly. read more

This is a really great place to stop to get a bagel and coffee, they're both great here. Add the great service, squeaky clean classic environment, and generous helpings of cream cheese and you have a solid coffee house. Now if they could only open the upstairs patio to guests. read more

Java Jax is a bit of an anomaly in this area. I work around the corner have yet to find another sandwich shop that can even come close to providing the service and quality of food that you can get at Jax. Reasonable prices, great selection, fast and friendly staff. Oh, and the coffee is fantastic too. read more

I really wish they didn't mix the bacon with the egg for the breakfast sandwich! Rookie mistake. Also WAY overpriced, I always end up having to go to McDonalds for breakfast since there's not many options in Vallejo. However, good portions and great staff and service. :) read more

I NEVER write reviews, but I had to for Java Jax. This place is awesome! My boyfriend is from Chicago & has complained for years that he can't get a true Chicago Dog in California. For his birthday dinner, I wanted to have Chicago Dogs, but it was way too expensive to order everything online & have it shipped. I called Dave & explained situation. He put together a complete care package for me, including the celery salt, peppers, relish - all of it. He went out of his way to make sure I had everything I needed and he was so nice. I've driven past this place for years and never thought much of it. Now, Java Jax will be on our regular list of breakfast & lunch spots. read more

At first I loved this place I got the lox everytime and my bf gets the breakfast bagle. Then I came in one day and got my usual and it looked thrown together. A giant square of cream cheese and then barley any lox. I brought it to the cashier and he emediatly had an aditude saying that this is how it is always made. I asked for my money back and won't be going back. I really would still go if it wasn't for the fact that the guy acted like I was crazy! read more

I drive by Java Jax on my way to work all the time but never stopped by until today. It was busy but there were a few people sitting, chatting, and enjoying their breakfast. I ordered the Bagel & Lox on an Everything Bagel and mmm! It was delicious, and not to mention reasonably priced ($5.75 + tax). coffee shop in an old auto garage! Awesome breakfast and great drinks... The French pressed coffee is better than average (everything is average these days) and my GF's Hot Chai was damn impressive. Every aspect of the food and drinks is right on! From espresso strength to foamy froth! It also fills the minimum requirement of having free wifi! read more

My favorite dive in restaurant in Vallejo for brunch and coffee. I usually go there every other day for their breakfast sandwiches, bagels and coffee that hit the spot for me. I love the people that works there and I know them as well and I like seeing the usual customers and new ones as well. The wi-fi service is great as well just ask for the passcode and it's easy access. I like to sit there for a hour if I am watching YouTube videos or what not. A great spot to chill out. read more

History

Established in 2001.

Located in a former gas station at the corner of Georgia St. and Sonoma Blvd, Java Jax was created by Jack McDonald in 2001. Jack never had the opportunity to run the business himself. It went through a number of owners until the current owner bought it almost 15 years ago. Initially one room having tables with stools, Jax has been expanded to two rooms with tables and chairs, plus outside seating. Starting with just coffees and espresso drinks, the menu has been broadened to include pastries, bagels, iced drinks, frappes, smoothies and sandwiches.

I'd still recommend it if you're craving something more chocolate-y than strawberry. Baristas were friendly and greeted me when I walked in. The burritos used to be about 12 dollars and are now around 16, but the quality and portion still make it worth it. I recently came back after about a year and it tasted exactly the same. Their service is always quick despite the long line of people there. Their complimentary pickled onions, grilled onions, and carrots along with their homemade sauces really take the burritos and tacos to another level. They have added more seating so you can eat there fresh and hot. Parking is still tight with only a few spots nearby, but it is worth it for the food.

The old man that runs this place or works here not quite sure, is just simply rude. Not a very friendly coffee joint for somebody new in the area. This man is also possibly racist , I have seen him single out people of color. Every time we have been to this place it wasn't busy, you think he would be kinder to the people who are patronizing. We will not be coming back to this place and that is sad because we love to support local businesses and are very generous people. I look forward to giving my business to an establishment thats worth giving to. read more

The environment is very friendly and welcoming! I walked in one day after shopping at the farmers market across the street and ordered a turkey pesto sandwich and mocha. The sandwich was good and the coffee was great! I would definitely stop by again for a tasty coffee before walking around at the market! read more

Friendly staff and quite locals abound. Nice espresso skills and the bean roasting on site is above average. Drink the Sumatra. They have a few seats outside for dog lovers or fresh air enthusiasts but they should expand because there is lots of outdoor space and the few tables are totally full. read more

One of the few coffee places to serve locally roasted coffee by someone who lives in Vallejo. The pastries are fantastic and this is one of the few places in this area to get a kosher hot dog and a NY style bagel. The tuna lettuce wraps are great as well served with a helping of potaote salad. read more

It had a coffee shop feel. It's the location in downtown and on Highway 29 that lets it survive without being Pete's or Starbucks. The best part was it was good quality with distinct craftsmanship. I'm guessing that's what's going to help turn Vallejo around-craftsmanship. read more

I ate here awhile back for the first time and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered the bagel and lox, it had tomato, onions, capers, cream cheese and the lox (of course). It tasted really fresh and delicious. I will definitely be returning to this cool little spot! read more

If you find yourself in downtown Vallejo and like coffee you're in for a treat. They have great coffee and snacks here. Pretty good ambiance. You can watch people come and go from the hydroponics store across the street and munch a bagel. Nice spot! read more

The breakfest is nice here with excellent sitting and service. You'll like the smiles and the flavor. People seem to come here to hang out and enjoy a cup of coffee on a regular bases. Try their breakfest burrito and you'll garantee be stuff. read more
