Bagel and lox
Sandy L.

The fresh bagel and lox was great! Everything was prepared fresh and hot! Super fast and friendly service. Java Jax has a sorta retro/old school diner vibe complete with red bartop stools. The parking situation is either street parking and their little designated lot. The lot reminds me of an apartment garage lot. So it may honestly be easier to park on the street. They also offer pastries and sandwiches. I see this more as a casual grab and go place although they do have plentiful seating. I'd come back to grab another bagel!

At Java Jax, expect to come in, order your stuff, and get it done right. The main guy, tho seemingly grumpy actually is quite friendly under his curmudgeon demeanor. To the left, you'll see a small frame of the famous internet cat- Grumpy Cat, which was gifted to him for obvious reasons, sitting on the counter. He seemed to be amused to share that. I know I was amused he did. The two vegans ordered lattes with the non-dairy options of almond, oat and soy milks. I went with soy, the friend went with oat. We were both happy with our coffees and the ratio of espresso that was used. They welcomed personal cups, which was nice. One less piece of trash for landfill. The price was SUPER REASONABLE unlike in other parts of The Bay. It didn't appear there were any vegan pastries but to be honest, we weren't sure we would even find dairy-free options so no complaints there. We just stopped in for a quick pick-me-up before heading over to Better Chew's Kitchen's grand opening. We'll definitely stop in again the next time we're in the area.

This is a small coffee stop underneath a motel and easy to do a quick drive by. We went on a random morning and there was the only old guy, poor dude. Apparently whoever works for him didn't show up. So he was running around and there was quite a line. The menu is extensive from bagels, breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs, etc. A good spot for a quick stop if he had a full staff working maybe the service would have been faster. But not a place I'd regularly go to for my breakfast.

Skip the chains, this place is phenomenal! I have been looking for a coffee spot that retains flavor but offers vegan friendly coffee alternatives and this spot hit me right where I needed it! Everywhere else my coffee tastes diluted or bland. Not here though! I got an iced mocha with soy milk and the flavor is addictive! The man working behind the counter was kind enough to let me know the blending mix they use isn't vegan friendly, but was happy to make me an iced one! The place was clean, and the atmosphere was relaxing, lovely staff. Excited to make this my new spot!

I've seen this place for a number of years and because I'm not a coffee drinker never crossed my mind what food they would have. Good thing they popped up on my search for breakfast burritos otherwise I would have never tried. Just a heads up it's not much parking here and it's on a busy street. It wasn't much of a wait at all with one person ahead of me. So once I decided on what I wanted being the breakfast burrito( no meat) and a breakfast bagel sandwich it was maybe a 5-10 minute wait before it was ready. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. And the ladies that work there were very nice and helpful! My burrito was Delicious and hit the spot!

Loved the lox bagel as suggested by yelp reviews. Blended mocha was also delicious. A gem in Vallejo.

The Italian beef sandwich is great, but the bread gets too soggy. Great sandwiches in general and the best frozen white mocha.

Don't be fooled though, this place knows what they're doing. Nice cashier who even gave us recommendations since it was our first time there. We left with our bellies full and will for sure be stopping by next time we're in town. Ps. They were out of Chilaquiles when we went, must be popular on the menu. Indoors doesnt look like the fancy pictures because they are not on Georgia Street. We had chilaquiles and the La Russell breakfast sandwhich. When our orders came out, it looked like they were prepping for a catering because of the large containers but then found out "holy sh*t that's our food! Wow." Needless to say, no need for them to do dishes because food was already in to go containers. Staff checked on us frequently to make sure if we needed anything. The chilaquiles came withe sour cream and guacamole on the side. I asked for pico de gallo but all they had was diced tomato and green onions. Nevertheless, the food was delicious and filling.

Brunch with friends is always enjoyable. This time we met at Joy of Eating cafe. The location of…read morethe cafe is easy to miss even though it's located on the street. There is a dedicated parking lot, tight but can hold a decent amount of cars. There is street parking as well, not metered - that is where I parked. The hostess was extremely friendly and attentive, checking in on us several times after ordering to notify of the food's ETA as well as refilling drinks and seeing if we needed anything. The dining area has approximately ten booths in total and became quite crowded around 12:30p. Our meals arrived at different times, items to eat meal arrived sparsely as well. We ordered around 11:30a, there were two other parties present. We were able to order based on our dietary needs/wants as the menu offered quite a diverse array. The crab omelette (known as The California Omelette on the menu) is 1/4 lb of fresh crab served either hot or cold enclosed in three eggs along with avocado and Monterey Jack cheese. For $26.35 the omelette left much to be desired, especially in flavor and seasoning. Nothing complimented or even enhanced the presence of the crab in any way. The remaining party at the table said they enjoy their meal - including a blueberry waffle, toast and eggs with bacon and a double cheeseburger with fries. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to gather, this cafe is certainly an option to consider. It was easy to speak and hear each other with ample privacy and not a lot of traffic - if any.

I'm still clapping after eating here! JEEZ!…read more When walking in, you are immediately greeted by a wonderful lady who directed us to take any seat available. I got super comfy town diner feels when sitting down like if you come here often all of the regulars will know your name hahaha The PLUS is that they had the morning news up on their TV so I felt like I was at home since I usually catch up with what's going on in the world first thing in the morning. I ordered the CHICKEN FRIED STEAK and ooooohhhhh weeeee! It was perfect! It came with 2 perfectly cooked sunny side up eggs, hash browns, and a good sized chicken fried steak that was topped with gravy that at first bite just gives you that home cooked/ soul filling feel! The sourdough toast was generously buttered with an assortment of jams on the table to choose from. I'll take a strawberry one hahaha If you like heat, I suggest getting that hot sauce bottle labeled "Ray'" and putting that on your hash browns! It was my first time having it and WOW! I. LOVED. IT. What's Tabasco again??? Hahaha It'd go great on tacos, a burrito, anything! I was close to asking if I could buy one hahaha The coffee is good and strong! Our waitress provided great customer service. She took our orders quickly and was always there at the perfect time to ask if I needed a coffee fill up. Will definitely be back! After coming here, you'll no longer want to go to the other breakfast places in Vallejo. As of today , this is my new #1 breakfast spot! *They also have donuts! Tucked inside Vallejo near their City Hall, this I could say is one of those perfect definitions of a "hidden gem"! We normally have to go to either Berkeley or Napa for this type of food. As soon as we walked in, we were immediately greeted & seated by one of their servers. The lady didn't seem to look so happy at first but was actually nice towards the end. Would've been better though if she did have a smile on her face the moment we walked in. But oh well. A male server made up for it and was very pleasant from start to finish! The plates we had this first trip were all scrumptious! Churro Waffle plus chicken, Chicken and waffle and eggs Benedict of the day. The matcha latte I'm used to is actually sweet. The one I had from this place, Matcha Latte w/ Lavender syrup was not sweet at all! Could've been perfect if I was given a heads up or asked if I wanted to add sweetness to it. The sugars provided for my spouse's coffee were all sugar substitutes (Splenda, sweet N low). Not the kind I'd put in my cup. Would definitely be back for their churro waffle & chicken!
