Love this little place. Low key atmosphere. The baked goods are great. My favorite is the morning buns but they also have good bagels. The prices are reasonable and the two women usually working, are friendly and efficient. It's a nice stop after the farmer's market!

The fresh bagel and lox was great! Everything was prepared fresh and hot! Super fast and friendly service. Java Jax has a sorta retro/old school diner vibe complete with red bartop stools. The parking situation is either street parking and their little designated lot. The lot reminds me of an apartment garage lot. So it may honestly be easier to park on the street. They also offer pastries and sandwiches. I see this more as a casual grab and go place although they do have plentiful seating. I'd come back to grab another bagel!

At Java Jax, expect to come in, order your stuff, and get it done right. The main guy, tho seemingly grumpy actually is quite friendly under his curmudgeon demeanor. To the left, you'll see a small frame of the famous internet cat- Grumpy Cat, which was gifted to him for obvious reasons, sitting on the counter. He seemed to be amused to share that. I know I was amused he did. The two vegans ordered lattes with the non-dairy options of almond, oat and soy milks. I went with soy, the friend went with oat. We were both happy with our coffees and the ratio of espresso that was used. They welcomed personal cups, which was nice. One less piece of trash for landfill. The price was SUPER REASONABLE unlike in other parts of The Bay. It didn't appear there were any vegan pastries but to be honest, we weren't sure we would even find dairy-free options so no complaints there. We just stopped in for a quick pick-me-up before heading over to Better Chew's Kitchen's grand opening. We'll definitely stop in again the next time we're in the area.

This is a small coffee stop underneath a motel and easy to do a quick drive by. We went on a random morning and there was the only old guy, poor dude. Apparently whoever works for him didn't show up. So he was running around and there was quite a line. The menu is extensive from bagels, breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs, etc. A good spot for a quick stop if he had a full staff working maybe the service would have been faster. But not a place I'd regularly go to for my breakfast.

Skip the chains, this place is phenomenal! I have been looking for a coffee spot that retains flavor but offers vegan friendly coffee alternatives and this spot hit me right where I needed it! Everywhere else my coffee tastes diluted or bland. Not here though! I got an iced mocha with soy milk and the flavor is addictive! The man working behind the counter was kind enough to let me know the blending mix they use isn't vegan friendly, but was happy to make me an iced one! The place was clean, and the atmosphere was relaxing, lovely staff. Excited to make this my new spot!

Situated in a convenient location to the downtown area. Sonoma and Georgia Street. Looks like it used to be a gas station. Coffee here is as good as any other coffee place around. Seems pretty low key and friendly in here with lots of tables and seating for those that want to hang out. I usually stop here if I'm in the area on Saturday for the Farmer's Market on Georgia Street. read more

I love this place, starting with the fact that this used to be a gas station. The coffee is great...very tasty. If you just come for the coffee alone, it's definitely worth the trip. But if you shouldn't just come for the coffee, they have awesome food. I came here and had a bagel with cream cheese and lox...it was sooo good. I still have dreams about that bagel. Also the staff was really friendly, which definitely made my experience there even better. read more

I don't live in Vallejo anymore. So naturally, thinking about their bagel and lox makes my mouth water every time (like right now). Staff is very nice and they are pretty quick. Coffee is supposed to be good too, just haven't tried it myself. read more

4 stars for their coffee (much better than Starbuck's and on par with Peet's), awesome smoothies (try the banana-strawberry-peach combo!), and yummy bagels. Indoor and outdoor seating. Steps away from the Farmer's Market! And soooo dog friendly - they have water bowls outside and will bring your to-go order out to you if they see you're waiting with your dog(s)! read more

Damn fine coffee, friendly and efficient service, really good bagels and bagel sandwiches, and very cute and clean seating area (I do love the funky diner-style stools). I took one star away only because they don't have a huge variety of non-bagel/non-sandwich foods on offer. How about a yogurt & fruit parfait or oatmeal for breakfast, or a nice fresh salad for lunch? The Double Rainbow ice cream tempts me every time I go in there, but I bravely resist. They have the best coffee around, and know how to make the perfect cappucchino. read more

Great place for Vallejo. I was debating between 4 and 5 stars, and decided on 5, because for this quiet town, it really does stand out as exceptional. I wish it stayed open later. They have always been friendly to me when taking my order and the food and coffee is delicious. Very cute redesign of an old gas station and convenient when walking downtown. Good parking options for that part of town. read more

I have passed by a hundred times, always meaning to try them out, especially since they are my friend, Yurik's, favorite. Needed my morning fix and out of coffee at home, finally tried them the other day. The French Roast tasted like hot water with a bit of coffee flavoring. Pretty gross and after downing the whole cup, I was ready to take a nap-no coffee zing at all...and expensive as hell! One scone and one medium coffee was $4.75!!!! I am all for supporting the locals and will even pay extra for it but only if it's at least as good! Pastry was tasty. read more

Would NOT recommend this place at all. Ordered simple bagel breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Only one other customer in cafe besides us. Owner was more interested in teaching his young, inexperienced wait staff about our 100 dollar bill and how to detect if it was counterfeit or not. We sat down with our coffee and patiently waited for our breakfast bagels. Dozen customer later and about 25 minutes we decided to ask for out money back. I'll give this establishment one star because I didn't need to cause a stink to get my money back. read more

A neighborhood hangout, the brewed coffee is on the light side (for the Bay area) but goes well with the sandwiches and excellent pastries. Great hot dogs, (Double Rainbow) ice cream and very welcoming- Vallejo locals are probably the most friendly folks in the Bay area. It gets knocked a star for closing way too early and removing the French press coffee (which was excellent) from the menu. read more

Great cup of coffee! Great pastries.The Breakfast sandwiches are my better half's favorite. Sometimes I just get a bagel and cream cheese that's also excellent. There Cafe Mochas are also delich!!! What's not to like? They have inside and outside seating. Come on folks. Support local non chain Vallejo owned businesses. read more

I love this place! I'm not going to lie, the coffee (straight black with nothing in it) is a bit on the expensive side, but it is of great quality and the owner (I think he's the owner) is always there, very friendly, very attentive, and always thanks me for coming in and for busing my table. The food is excellent (only local place I know where one can get a Chicago style dog), and their ice creams are very tasty (though if you intend to get a shot of espresso over said ice cream, I'd suggest you don't get the soy ice cream as it turns gummy when heated). Overall this place is fantastic with fantastic service and they have WiFi (can't remember if it's free since I always buy something and they give me the code when I ask.) read more

I'm in Vallejo for three weeks visiting from Washington, DC, and Java Jax has been my daily escape and source of good coffee. It's got a great location in a converted service station. They've got free wireless and lots of tables that make it pretty good for getting some work done. On the weekday mornings I've been here it's been pretty empty with fast, friendly service and more than enough space. They're regular old coffee is good. I actually recommend it over the espresso drinks, I tried a cappuccino and a latte and they were average, but I'd say the regular coffee is well above average, certainly head and shoulders above starbucks. I also recommend their Bagel with Lox and the fixings. read more

I've been here a few times, and while I love bagel with cream Cheese and the Turkey Pesto sandwich, I'm a little sad that cheese doesn't come on the sandwhich unless you order it. I have ordered a smoothie here before and paid almost $5 for it....to me it didn't taste good at all. I ended up throwing the whole thing away. I would also like to say that there are some dog owners who go there to sit outside and don't keep their dogs on any type of leash....so I hope the owner or whoever will look into that. read more

Great place! Ordered a Chihuahua dog and a Chicago dog.....So, so, so good!!! The Chihuahua dog is a Vienna dog with bacon in between the dog and bun. Topped with tomatoes, onions, jalapenos and sour cream.....mmmm....hot dog+bacon= the best. The Chicago dog is your typical Chicago style dog....dog, tomato, onion, sport peppers, pickle, relish, and celery salt. Just like the one I had in Chi town! I got the Chihuahua dog and the Chicago dog combo (choice of assorted Lays chips and canned soda) for $10.04. Established in 2001.

Located in a former gas station at the corner of Georgia St. and Sonoma Blvd, Java Jax was created by Jack McDonald in 2001. Jack never had the opportunity to run the business himself. It went through a number of owners until the current owner bought it almost 15 years ago. Initially one room having tables with stools, Jax has been expanded to two rooms with tables and chairs, plus outside seating. Starting with just coffees and espresso drinks, the menu has been broadened to include pastries, bagels, iced drinks, frappes, smoothies and sandwiches.

The burritos used to be about 12 dollars and are now around 16, but the quality and portion still make it worth it. I recently came back after about a year and it tasted exactly the same. Their service is always quick despite the long line of people there. Their complimentary pickled onions, grilled onions, and carrots along with their homemade sauces really take the burritos and tacos to another level. They have added more seating so you can eat there fresh and hot. Parking is still tight with only a few spots nearby, but it is worth it for the food.

Oh let me throw in how when I asked for water he gave me an ice cold sealed bottle, free of charge. So add great customer service to the great food offered! Definitely gonna be my new go to stop on days where burgers are on my mind. Heck, based on the reviews and how delicious the burger was I might have to bring my wife for breakfast sometime soon.

The old man that runs this place or works here not quite sure, is just simply rude. Not a very friendly coffee joint for somebody new in the area. This man is also possibly racist , I have seen him single out people of color. Every time we have been to this place it wasn't busy, you think he would be kinder to the people who are patronizing. We will not be coming back to this place and that is sad because we love to support local businesses and are very generous people. I look forward to giving my business to an establishment thats worth giving to. read more

The environment is very friendly and welcoming! I walked in one day after shopping at the farmers market across the street and ordered a turkey pesto sandwich and mocha. The sandwich was good and the coffee was great! I would definitely stop by again for a tasty coffee before walking around at the market! read more

Friendly staff and quite locals abound. Nice espresso skills and the bean roasting on site is above average. Drink the Sumatra. They have a few seats outside for dog lovers or fresh air enthusiasts but they should expand because there is lots of outdoor space and the few tables are totally full. read more

One of the few coffee places to serve locally roasted coffee by someone who lives in Vallejo. The pastries are fantastic and this is one of the few places in this area to get a kosher hot dog and a NY style bagel. The tuna lettuce wraps are great as well served with a helping of potaote salad. read more

It had a coffee shop feel. It's the location in downtown and on Highway 29 that lets it survive without being Pete's or Starbucks. The best part was it was good quality with distinct craftsmanship. I'm guessing that's what's going to help turn Vallejo around-craftsmanship. read more

If you find yourself in downtown Vallejo and like coffee you're in for a treat. They have great coffee and snacks here. Pretty good ambiance. You can watch people come and go from the hydroponics store across the street and munch a bagel. Nice spot! read more
