January 29th 2013 This is an update to a previous post from this past summer. We got another dog and his name is Remington, better known as Remi. Zack didn't work out and had to go back to the pound. While Remi isn't quite ready to hang out with us at Java Jax we plan on making it happen someday soon. We now try to stop by at least once a week because we intend on supporting the business as best we can. Java Jax is unique and we thoroughly enjoy stopping in; me for the best latte around and a breakfast bun, the hubby for his fruit punch Snapple and breakfast sandwiches. You don't have to take our word for it, matter if fact, you don't even have to stop by. We like things just the way they are! To the gang at Java Jax, we say THANK YOU for all you do! I have been to JavaJax several times and each time I get the bagel & lox. It is delicious and very reasonably priced! I normally get my order to go but the restaurant is large enough to sit at a table and have plenty of space. This place is a great find! read more

I'm giving 4 stars because the coffee is decent and the hot dogs are yummy. BUT I give Java Jax NO stars for service. Seriously. Unless you are a super regular customer the men behind the counter are CURT and RUDE. So rude in fact that I will not being going back and will actively dissuade friends, family and acquaintances to avoid Java Jax. read more

Perfunctory. Competent. Coffee's good, but not particularly notable. Hard surfaces means it can get loud. Some pastries are pretty good, others mediocre. Better to come here than Starbucks though. read more

Their espresso, especially iced lattes, is delectable. The only problem is that they don't offer much in the way of pastries or other goodies, and the sitting area isn't the most enticing spot to hang out or study or do any of the other things people like to do in a cozy coffee shop. read more

Great coffee and pastries. Nice quiet place to read the paper or get some work done on your laptop. They have delicious hot dogs too!

Haven't been here in a while so I chose to go here with a friend today.We both had coffee, which was very good . Serving the coffee in a hot cup was also a nice touch . The menu has good selections but prices seemed high and the food we ordered was disappointing. I haven't had the Italian beef sandwich here before so thought I'd try it, since it used to be one of their signature items. It was small for the price and was on soggy rubbery microwaved bread! I like my Italian beef and bread to be dipped, like it was, but SHOULD NEVER be MICROWAVED. It should be served on a good quality roll to stand up to the dipping .The beef and peppers were tasty but the bread ruined it. If you order it remember to tell them not to microwave the bread. I would have told them if I knew they were going to do that! My friend ordered the lox and bagel. I remember this was great the last time I had it here but this time not so much. The bagel was not toasted enough . The cream cheese was not spread on the bagel. It was just put on as a rectangle block piece . If they are not going to spread it, they should put it on the side as an open face sandwich so I could spread it myself. As a matter of fact ,for the price, they should serve it as an open face toasted bagel with the lox, tomato, capers and cream cheese on the plate and let the customer assemble it . That's how they do it when I had it in other places. If I go here again I'll just have the coffee. read more

this place is great - i always try to get coffee here and support local business in Vallejo. they have a GREAT tuna sandwich, a yummy bagel with lox and the owner David is really a sweetheart. i hope they can survive the economy and stay open - even if we don't have a regular bookstore in Vallejo at least we have a few good independent coffee shops!! read more

This is seriously the best coffee in all of the bay area. They roast their beans the night before they brew them. Its so fresh and delicious that I buy it by the pound to make at home as well as go there to get it. But it doesn't stop there, their food is so good. I like the turkey pesto and chicken salad sandwiches the best the chicken salad is the best I've ever had. They also have the biggest fluffiest bagels that I often get with just cream cheese or turned into a breakfast sandwich. They also have hot dogs that I find to also be divine. This is a must if you live in the area support your local business, starbucks has nothing on this place. read more

Oh thank heavens, a great Chicago hot dog relatively close to my home. I am rather picky about my Chicago hot dogs....I actually asked to see the Vienna Beef package before I believed that they actually had the real thing. They do! And the prices are reasonable, the place is clean, the staff was friendly and willing to put up with a crazy Chicagoan. I have no idea about the rest of the menu since I only go there to indulge my obsession with Chicago dogs. read more

This is a really cute diner. Small and has character. The bagels are so fresh and taste like east coast bagels. Worth it!

I live close by and love to take a walk here in the morning for a cafe au lait or latte. And, they have a great breakfast burrito and for lunch a tuna lettuce wrap. I recently moved to Vallejo and places like this and Nathan's and Leaf make me confident I made a great choice. Small businesses with local ownership will always trump (no pun intended) the big corporate chains. Shop local and support your local businesses! read more

I always love it here because it's so cozy and everyone's so friendly. My favorite is the bagel with lox. Cheese bagel, hold the capers. They also have the most delicious tuxedo mochas. If you're in town, I recommend this place as a quick breakfast stop. They have breakfast burritos, bagels and if you're in the mood, you could order a chicago dog! Only downside is that their parking lot is small (i.e. 6 spaces), but, plenty of street parking. It gets busier on Saturdays with the farmers market. There's also free wifi, so my friend and I have definitely come here to work on our presentation with our coffee and bagels on hand. read more

We stopped here on the way through on I-80 for breakfast. Small place, very friendly owner. Good coffee and food. Had the lox bagel, plenty of smoked salmon and tasty. Another dish was the egg sandwich with ham on rye. Plenty and good. read more

I recently moved to Vallejo and was looking for a nice little coffee shop, aside from all the starbucks around here, and I found it! Good coffee, good pastries (I had their cinnamon raisin bagel), and nice service. The only downside is the prices are pretty steep and there's very little parking. read more

Nice people hang out here, and good coffee is served. The morning have a nice crowd of regulars starting their day. They also serve pretty good food. More people need to know about this place and keep downtown Vallejo going. read more

Their BLT is heaven - SO heavy on the B! For breakfast, I always get the bagel with lox - except when I get the egg bowl - yum... Definitely a top place for breakfast and lunch! read more

Don't get the raves, it is about the coffee right, this place is little north of brown water. Points for independant, but sorry that Starbucks' coffee is better and I hate the Starbucks' mentality. Pastries taste and look like something squeezed out of last weeks Costco specials, bagels seem fresher bet. Wanna support the local guy who seems a grouch, crew is great.
