Best spot for working remotely or studying in Maui. They have ample outlets, WiFi, and food/coffee to keep you fueled. Friendly service, bright welcoming space.

Owner had just open his second location when we visited!! Coffee with amazing service after a great morning walk.

Came here because it as waking distance from my Airbnb. It's perfectly placed across from a gym if you need a shake after. Oatmeal looks amazing but it was just ok It felt like the peanut butter and cinnamon dominated the taste but it was good. A ton of fruits and nuts in it. Filling though definitely a great start to the day A good amount of people inside but the food and shakes came out quick. Plenty of seating inside and out. A whole section of wellness drinks to have. All wk i was driving to a natural foods place 10 mins away when i could've walked here

Cute cafe

Cute coffee place! We usually come here on Sundays after 12 for a late breakfast. The Egg Sandwich is so yummy! My favorite. They also have a variety of croissants and pastries. My go to is Lilikoi. I ask for it warmed up. They have good Mochas and Matcha Green Tea hot or cold. My son likes the Might Manny Protein Shake. Seating available inside or outside. Nice place to enjoy your Sunday morning.

Came here twice while on vacation. The regular coffee here is really good. We also got a croissant sandwich one day and they presented it really nicely. Service is not very cheery but not rude. It's pretty quiet and they didn't seem busy on either morning. There are plenty of places to sit. It's clean and cute and they have a lot of yummy looking treats in here.

Great experience at Java Cafe! My daughter had the smoked salmon bagel and absolutely loved it. The matcha was on point too. We'll definitely be back!

Great drink and food options. Cute little cafe with space to get some studying or work done as well. They were so patient and made great suggestions. Not photographed is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I had while in Maui!

Lilikoi croissant and Macademia Nut Ice Latte

This place was the first stop for coffee the morning after arrival. We walkes there early just as they opened. Nice and bright with plenty of seatings. I got an iced macadamia latte. But the pastry display caught my eye. I got the passion fruit croissant and it was fluffy inside and flaky. There was also adequate filling as well. I was expecting a stale pastry but this was beyond my expectations. They get them from a local bakery . I went back in to get a nutella croissant and it had lotis nutella and a ferrero chocolate on it. I will be back to get another a hot drink with another pastry.

My d was getting her acai bowl from 2 stores down. The rest of us need some caffeine. This place looks clean and nice. Have indoor and outdoor seating area. Plenty of free parking. They also serve pastries and some breakfast sandwiches. I just ordered my latte with oat milk. The ppl is not the friendliest. But ok.

The caprese sandwhich add bacon and eggs! The pumpkin bread great for the hike

Let's get into it! So we came here twice during our stay in Maui- the atmosphere top tear sit outside it's beautiful. They do have WiFi. We got the caprese sandwhich and I added bacon and eggs. An iced matcha! Baby get into it! Then it came with flower petals on it. Service was good. Pick up your dishes and put them away when you leave- and of course don't feed the chickens

Salmon Freshness Toast - August 2024

Cute local cafe/coffee shop. I got the Irish crème breve and the salmon freshness toast and the toast was AMAZING. Beautiful presentation and taste with seasoning. My coffee was strong and service was pretty quick. We'd come back. It's a little warm inside but they have fans going and there are a few tables outside too.

Passion fruit croissant

Do me a favor and try the Lilikoi (passion fruit ) croissant, the filling is very generous, and the thing is humongous. A bit pricey, but worth every penny. They sometimes have discounted pastry as well, so if you can snatch one do it ! Coffee was hot and good , this place gets busy quick.

Avocado toast

This place is amazing. I have been trying to find a simple, healthy breakfast, and I finally found it here. I ordered an avocado toast and it was delicious. This place is very clean, pleasant, and very enjoyable. If you are looking for a healthy, high-quality breakfast, I highly recommend this place.

My husband and I thought we ordered a reasonable amount of food and quickly realized we may have gotten a little too ambitious. Everything tasted fresh and comforting, and it was exactly the kind of breakfast we wanted before a full day of exploring the island. The staff was friendly, service moved quickly despite how busy it was, and the atmosphere felt very local and welcoming. There are a lot of breakfast spots on Maui, but I can see why this place is always recommended. If you're visiting, it's definitely worth stopping by at least once. You can tell they put real care into what they serve, and it shows in every sip. We ordered two lattes, one with brown sugar and one with vanilla, and both were amazing. The flavors were balanced, not overly sweet, and complemented the quality of the espresso perfectly. We also shared a cheese danish that my husband absolutely loved. He said it was one of the best he has ever had, and I have to agree -- buttery, flaky, and so fresh. The shop itself has such a fun, cozy vibe. There's even a swing inside, which adds such a unique and playful touch. It's the kind of place you actually want to hang out in, not just grab a coffee and go. Service was excellent. The barista was super friendly and even made the cutest latte art, which totally made my day. I ordered a 12 oz and loved that it came in a mug, while my husband got a 16 oz to-go. My only wish is that they would offer mugs for the larger sizes too. It would be a nice way to cut down on paper and plastic and make the experience even better. Overall, Akamai Coffee is a gem. Between the amazing drinks, delicious pastries, welcoming atmosphere, and thoughtful service, it's the kind of place you'll want to visit again and again. Unlike standard donuts, theirs are fried to a perfect golden crisp on the outside while staying unbelievably fluffy, light, and pillowy on the inside. The Passion Fruit (Lilikoi) Magic: Tasting that tart, bright, tropical lilikoi burst against the sugary, warm dough is unforgettable. It cuts right through the richness of the pastry perfectly. Freshness First: Because they open bright and early at 6:00 AM, getting them warm means you are catching them at peak texture--crisp, airy, and meltingly soft. Mouth-Watering Savories & Pies It's rare for a bakery to completely master both ends of the spectrum, but they strike an incredible balance between decadent sweetness and rich, savory comfort: The Quiche: Getting a morning slice with a perfectly flaky, buttery crust and a rich, velvety egg custard is the ultimate savory breakfast comfort. The Key Lime Pie: A masterclass in balance. The sharp, refreshing pucker of the lime curd pairs flawlessly with a thick, buttery graham cracker crust, making it the ultimate mid-day or post-beach treat. The Croissants: True to artisan form--shattered layers on the outside, a rich, tender, airy web of butter on the inside. My mom politely asked if they had any sugar-free pies available. The girl at the register stated " you need to ask for those a day in advance". So my mom asked if she could place an order now to pick up one tomorrow. The girl then looked up from the register with an annoyed look on her face and said, verbatim, " does it look like I'm the head baker? I only work the register. You need to leave the store and call us to order". We all looked at each other shocked. That was the most rude response I've heard in a while... like we are supposed to know who specifically ask to order a sugar free pie ... ... just a wild situation for such a fun place with great tasting pies. The good: - blackberry mango was probably my favorite pie - peach cobbler a close second place - loved the mountain berry as well The bad: - the girl working the register - you want a sugar free pie? Make sure to NEVER ask in person. You have to call in. - And they only offer whole pies and not slices for sugar free pies The verdict: - minus 2 stars for the rude girl who yelled at my mom - minus 1 star for only having whole pies and not slices for sugar free pies, even though they only have 3 flavors to choose from... Such a shame to have people like that working at a place that serves such a good product.
