Went to Java Café for an afternoon's coffee while visiting. Nice comfortable and spacious coffeehouse. Had an ice coffee & a slice of banana bread, very reasonable and tasty. Free Wifi, a nice relaxing place to surf the web and caffeinate! Their coffee beans and grinds for sale were interesting, but not enough for me to buy any. My husband and I love stopping in here for coffee and pastries after a morning out on the water. The croissants have been to die for....until Saturday. The pastries I got on Saturday were absolutely tiny in comparison to the ones I am accustomed too - they also had so little filling that we struggled to identify the flavors. This would not have bummed us out so much except these pastries are really pricey, and because we know how good they can be. The staff is friendly and efficient and the location is great - plenty of parking. When we do order food we usually get the avocado toast (delicious) - it is a large portion and feeds two of us if we also share a pastry. read more

If I was able to do a zero rating I would have done it for this coffee shop. They have the worst tasting coffee and they ALWAYS get my orders wrong. Instead of admitting to it, they blame you for the error. The fact that it's not a cheap place to get breakfast, they also have the worst customer service. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. There are other coffee shops around that are 100% way better than this place. It's not worth anyone's time or money. read more

This is the shop my dad and I come to practically every morning we are in Kihei before we surf. The staff is always super friendly and helpful. I don't know if I've ever seen a beverage menu with as many options as Java Cafe. They also have a wide variety of organic smoothies and many MANY gluten free/ vegan options. Def recommend trying out the fresh baked goods! I snatched a passion fruit muffin & it was bomb. I also grabbed an iced 'coconut macadamia nut iced latte' made just for me. There are also a plentiful amount of tables to work & socialize with an array of music, and free WiFi. Parking is also great w/ plenty of spots. read more

Online the food and drinks and atmosphere look appealing, however it is very overpriced for the quality of food and service that was provided by all 5 staff. The Chai Latte was watery with no flavor while the bacon wrap lacked taste and presentation - not worth +$20 for both items. The staff had no enthusiasm and seemed to not care. They raise their voice when you don't pick up your order in time. Witnessed that they plate every other guest meal with excellent presentation, while they boxed mine - not sure why, as I informed I was dinning in. Had to ask for a plate and it seemed to be an issue presented by staff. Suggest going to other coffee shops instead. read more

The one star is for customer service. The cashier didn't greet us when we walked up...seemed irritated. Food was decent. Chai had no flavor. The girl who made our drinks when I asked her If my drink was ready also seemed irritated and was rude. Is it too hard to smile and be friendly! The wifi doesn't work, the pastries are expensive and none of the prices are posted. Also, the pastries look a lot better than they actually are, so if you are looking to take a photo of a croissant, they are perfect. If you want one to eat, find somewhere else. Also, I love fancy stuff but paying $6.25 for a not-flakey croissant and $10 for a banana bread while shoo-ing chickens away in a strip mall parking lot makes it seem like they got the pricing wrong. read more

5 stars because they deserve a higher average than 3.5. This is a great alternate to the always clobbered Kihei Caffe breakfast. Good menu with several options. Breakfast sandwich was very well done with thick slices of multi grain bread, 2 eggs, good bacon and cheese. A real treat and a big surprise. The smoked salmon on a bagel got a great report and the waffle with blueberries and strawberries for my grandson was a hit. Good selection of pastries. Hawaiian roll was dynamite. Good coffee here and good service. Baffled that it was not busier. I've got two places to go for breakfast now in Kihei. read more

Hmmm...the majority of other Yelpers rave about the service, food and coffee so perhaps we went on an off day? Nothing like a bad Mother's Day breakfast.... The counter help and baristas were downright rude, slow and only interested in engaging in speaking in Spanish amongst each other. The cashier asked my friend if she wanted her receipt and when my friend declined the cashier looked her dead in the eye, crumpled the receipt and dropped it onto the floor. Really???? The food was ridiculously slow and gross; it was so bad I can't even remember what we ordered other than the maple bacon donut that I was excited about. Sadly it was dry and stale! Really! How can a maple bacon donut go wrong???? Do yourself a favor and go to Starbucks or anywhere but here. We will NOT be stopping here during our next trip to Maui! read more

Everything you could want from a coffee shop. High quality local grown and roasted coffees, baristas that know how to steam milk correctly (so you get a nice, creamy latte, not a cup of hot milk), and excellent pastries. They also have healthy cold-pressed juices (think kale and spirulina), a variety of toasts (e.g. smashed avocado) wraps and even a breakfast waffle. Very vegan friendly. Lots of outdoor seating (although views only of the Azeka mall environs). We tried several other Kihei coffee shops and this was by far the best. read more

I love this place after going here pretty much everyday for a couple weeks. The girls are very nice and friendly, they have good food and make a lot of the pastries they offer which are quite a few!! The coffee is consistently very good and prices are fair! I'm not sure about the other reviews and what they didn't like, but I've been to a lot of other coffee shops around here and have gotten not very good service and expensive coffee that's really not very good, yet those places have good reviews ‍ idk it's yelp I guess! I stopped by here this past Friday morning with my wife for some coffee. While not our original plan, we ended up spotting it and decided to go in. The inside of Java Cafe was decorated with a number of different woods in front of the coffee making area as well as a large number of tables for seating. On this morning I decided to go with my usual coffee drink which is a large americano. Within a couple of minutes my drink was ready and a few minutes after that I was drinking it. It ended being pretty good as it had a very strong and rich flavor. My wife ended up getting the same thing and also enjoyed it. The bottom line for me is that I would be back again in the future. I'm probably going to miss this place the most when I go back home. We came here daily for coffee and cold pressed juices (which were to die for). They have an awesome rewards program, we stayed in Maui for almost 2 weeks and by regularly visiting here we received a few few juices and $5 off our order. Totally worth it!
