I live across the street from Java Bakery Cafe. My 3 year old daughter and I used to get donuts every Saturday morning, but I wanted to start going somewhere healthier. We went to Java Cafe to try it out and fell in love with this place. They have healthy food great for breakfast and lunch. They also have really good coffee! What makes this place special is the people that work there. The ladies that work behind the counter are very nice, and even remembered our order after only a few times! The owner is extremely nice and kind. He took a liking to my daughter and one day decided to give her a cookie. This has become a ritual for us and he never fails to give her a cookie every Saturday that we go there. One time, he was not working but chose to look at the cameras to see if we were there and had one of his employees bring my daughter a cookie when he saw us come in! Very cool place, good atmosphere to hang out and relax for a bit. I would recommend this place for sure. Coffee beats Starbucks, try their cold brew, their lunch sandwiches are really good as well as their muffins. read more

I wanted something quick for lunch so decided to stop here and it was amazing! All the staff were very friendly! We got the 3 cheese panini and the Turkey berry sandwich. They were both amazing! The bread was very soft and fresh for both! We also got fruit salad and chocolate covered strawberries! I wish I lived closer so I could go every day! read more

So this is what coffee is supposed to taste like. This place will always be better in my opinion than any other place to get coffee. This location moved from Irvine off culver. I've been coming here for 25 years. I'm sad to see the Irvine location gone but as long as the same management and crew remains, I'm good. And this is a nice location too. I am so happy about this place! I've been here a few times now and every item I've tried has been delicious. The Apple Brie Chicken Panini is amazing. It's a little smaller than paninis I've had elsewhere but it's big on taste. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it! I've also had their chocolate chip scone which had a great flavor, nice constancy, and was moist. I tried their vanilla latte today and it was super tasty. I love that their coffee is organic and they provide informational brochures on their coffee sources with a fun little stand to the left of the door. The staff here was friendly and the baristas were moving fast to get the orders made on a busy Saturday morning. Fun bit of info, I just learned that they offer an $8 Monday lunch which includes a choice of sandwich/panini/salad/wrap, a choice of potato salad/green salad/chips, and an iced tea! I love Java Bakery Cafe!! Everytime I visit my mom we come here atleast once for a coffee, tea, bagel, and or breakfast burrito! It's located inside of the the Bayside shopping center near Pavilions. They have tons of outdoor seating and indoor seating if you decide to stay to eat your food here. They have a free flavor water station and blankets so if It's cold outside you can grab one of those! It's the perfect place to grab a coffee and or stay to get some work done! This bakery coffee shop is always buzzing with people but they have great service. Everytime I order the cashier is always so friendly and offer many good suggestions. Once you order your food and drink even if you are to go they give you a number and bring your food out too you which is great! They have some of the best bagel sandwiches in the area. Their breakfast burritos are my favorite too packed with tons of egg, beans, and your choice of meat! They also have great salads, sandwiches, and a huge selection of great tasty bakery goods. I love their coffee too! They can make any coffee drink iced or hot. They also make an incredible matcha green tea latte which I love! I can't wait to come back next time I'm in Newport Beach visiting my mom! I love this place! :) read more

Okay so I've tried this place twice. Once for breakfast and once for lunch(4 meals between two of us). The people are great and the decor and outdoor seating are very good as well but I've struggled to find any flavor in the meals served. It just seams like the food comes straight out of a bag or box and right to the plate. We paid $40 dollars for 2 very small meals that we were unhappy with. Not something I would want to do again. Keep in mind, this is not a review on the bakery side of things, just meals. The bakery looks amazing but haven't tried it and unfortunately I probably won't now. Hope this helps. read more

This place was always super close to where I live but I only became addicted to the house special bagel sandwich on an everything bagel near the end of my time in Newport Beach! I treated coworkers during my last week of my job to an assortment of bagel sandwiches as well as muffins and croissants and they did not disappoint! The staff here is very friendly as well. If I could give ZERO stars I would! We ordered 2 bagel sandwiches and 2 coffees for breakfast and received our order number and was told they would bring out the food when it was ready. Coffees arrived within 5 minutes however bagel sandwiches never came. We waited patiently until we noticed people who arrived 20 to 30 minutes after us were already eating. Went I to ask about order and they said it was coming. Gentleman came out 5 minutes later with a sandwich in wich we didn't order. 45 minutes and no food. Went in demanded refund of cost of food ant I had already added a 20% tip so asked for that back too. No apology from the manager. So frustrating! read more

We were staying at Newport dunes during the pandemic and rode our bikes to Java bakery. I found it on Yelp based on reviews. I had an incredible bagel sandwich. My 12-year-old son said it was the best he's had! The line was long and out the door but they did a great job of social distancing and it was definitely worth the wait. read more

It's about time I write a review of Java. I love this place and it's not in small part due to the fact that the people here are warm, welcoming, and wonderful. The family that owns it is lovely, and they quite obviously ensure that their staff treats customers just as they do. There are so many places in Orange County to grab a coffee and a pastry or salad or whatever... But I come here. Oatmeal is the worst I've ever tasted in my life. Despite instructions telling him to make it extra thick, they instead make it extra loamy and soupy in consistency. When you dare to complain, their snotty answer is this is a recipe and they're too busy anyway, take it or leave it. Burritos fall apart at the slightest touch and cannot be eaten by hand. We ordered the Turkey Bacon Ranch Wrap yesterday and it was just ok. Barely had any turkey, bacon or Swiss cheese on it, the majority of the wrap was lettuce.
