Sweet people, yummy snax & coffees. Love that you can arrive at odd hours like afternoon teatime; open until 6pm. A great little spot to tuck in for a little repast. Tiny inside--sit outside before or after grocery shopping, dry cleaners, alterations, etc. I treasure small cafes like this. Had the breakfast burrito w/sausage and one with turkey, a coffee and an orange for a total of 52 dollars. Burritos were flavorless and I had to battle with the crunchiness of the egg shells. Very poorly made. The hot sauce was more like blended tomatoes with no flavor or spice. Only one packet of ketchup was given and when asked for more they only gave us 2 more and the lady never came back. Very disappointed to waste my calorie intake and money on such poor quality food. This bakery and cafe is the BEST in Newport!! Not only are the drinks delicious, but the food is out of this world. The bagel I ordered was so fresh, and was better than any bagel I've ever had. Wanted to pick up a quick breakfast before my son's girlfriend started work, and Java was convenient. I know they make delicious lunch wraps, but this was my first time getting breakfast. Rather than getting a breakfast sandwich on a bagel - a bagel just seemed too heavy - I asked if I could get it on wheat bread and they said no problem. Well it was delicious. Coconut white cake Pellegrino (for Italian soda) Every single thing was fresh and perfectly spiced! I thought the food was good, but then the cake was heaven and the Italian soda they prepared for me was to die for. Needless to say, everything was great!!! The service is great! It has the feel of a cute coffee shop, but luckily they offer much more than just coffee and pastries! I often see people working on their laptops or reading a book, as it is quiet and stays quiet throughout the day. Service: At Java Bakery, you order at the counter from their menu and take a number and they bring the food out to you. Food prep is timely, and i've never had to wait too long for my meal. Cashiers and servers are very friendly and offer good suggestions. Food: I'm a big fan of the bagel sandwiches and my personal favorite is the gourmet, which is egg, cheddar, bacon, arugula and apricot preserves on your choice of bagel. Yum! Fell in here looking for lunch, has a nice outdoor patio, inside is clean, organized, but it took forever to take our order. We had a chicken panini, which was terrible, the chicken is from a frozen, subpar filler/fake chicken, very fatty, gross, even told the owner,(nice lady), but yuck!!! Very small sandwich w/barely anything to it, bad choice. The walnut, craisin salad was better, the plain croissant was ok, being a restaurant owner, I told the owner how bad the panini was, suggesting to change the chicken bc it's really bad...I hope she took it ok, I think ppl get used to subpar food, the place was busy enough w/takeouts, but I'd go to Trader Joe's over this place, just misses the mark, their fruit smoothie was also subpar, very icy!!!! read more

Just in town for the day exploring and we found this little spot in a strip mall next to rite aid and a grocery store. Super convenient location for people who are traveling through if you need anything else and the coffee at this place is pretty good. My wife had the Iced Caramel Macchiato and ended up really liking it and I had some iced coffee drink that was really good as well considering I'm not much of a coffee drinker. We busy Newport every 6 weeks or so from out of town. We have either breakfast or lunch there daily.....sometimes both. They have awesome breakfast options, delicious baked goods and coffee. The lunch salads and sandwiches are so delicious. Our favorites are the turkey apple with honey mustard on a baguette and the Asian chicken salad. We enjoy seeing Raul and Johanna. I live across the street from Java Bakery Cafe. My 3 year old daughter and I used to get donuts every Saturday morning, but I wanted to start going somewhere healthier. We went to Java Cafe to try it out and fell in love with this place. They have healthy food great for breakfast and lunch. They also have really good coffee! What makes this place special is the people that work there. The ladies that work behind the counter are very nice, and even remembered our order after only a few times! The owner is extremely nice and kind. He took a liking to my daughter and one day decided to give her a cookie. This has become a ritual for us and he never fails to give her a cookie every Saturday that we go there. One time, he was not working but chose to look at the cameras to see if we were there and had one of his employees bring my daughter a cookie when he saw us come in! Very cool place, good atmosphere to hang out and relax for a bit. I would recommend this place for sure. Coffee beats Starbucks, try their cold brew, their lunch sandwiches are really good as well as their muffins. read more

So this is what coffee is supposed to taste like. This place will always be better in my opinion than any other place to get coffee. This location moved from Irvine off culver. I've been coming here for 25 years. I'm sad to see the Irvine location gone but as long as the same management and crew remains, I'm good. And this is a nice location too. It's our first official time here at this location. The bagels and lite bites are very good. The coffee is very good too. It's definitely worth the trip. read more

I am so happy about this place! I've been here a few times now and every item I've tried has been delicious. The Apple Brie Chicken Panini is amazing. It's a little smaller than paninis I've had elsewhere but it's big on taste. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it! I've also had their chocolate chip scone which had a great flavor, nice constancy, and was moist. I tried their vanilla latte today and it was super tasty. I love that their coffee is organic and they provide informational brochures on their coffee sources with a fun little stand to the left of the door. The staff here was friendly and the baristas were moving fast to get the orders made on a busy Saturday morning. Fun bit of info, I just learned that they offer an $8 Monday lunch which includes a choice of sandwich/panini/salad/wrap, a choice of potato salad/green salad/chips, and an iced tea!
