I had a horrible experience that will prevent me from ever going to Jasper's (Largo) restaurant ever again. Please read! Me and a friend of mines decided to have drinks and a quick meal. With her love for their famous crab dip. She/we decided Jasper's was the place.....BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!! First, there were three young ladies at the door talking to one another whom never acknowledged that we had even come through the door. After WE spoke to them, one of them led us to a table. After being seated our waitress comes over introduces herself, takes our order and walk off. I ordered a crabcake sandwich that comes with fries and coleslaw. Well once my order came, it was a crabcake sandwich and some soup. Me looking confuse, I say to my friend the menu said fries and this is soup. I stopped another waiter and asked her for another menu to confirm that it said fries, not soup. I then motioned for our waiter to come over which she did asking "Is everything okay?" I replied "No, I ordered a crabcake sandwich with fries and this is soup." she say "No problem, I will get you an order of fries." She takes the soup and about five minutes later she returns with a black basket with a black cloth table napkin inside the basket that had fries wrapped inside of the napkin. My friend grab two fries and says they are good and hot, I grabbed a fry took a bite only to discover that there is some kind of sauce on it. Puzzled I smell the fry and it smells like hot sauce. I picked up one more smelled it and there's no hot sauce, I picked up another and again no hot sauce. I ask my friend to smell the first fry and she says "It does smell like hot sauce." I motioned for our waiter to come over again, I explained to her that there is hot sauce on one fry in my basket. She apologizes and offers to get me another order of fries. I declined the second order of fries because at this point, I have truly lost my appetite with all kinds of thoughts going through my mind about where these fries came from. She returns with the bill and I ask if there was a manager I could speak with she replied "I can get her for you." 5-10 minutes later a female manager comes over and asks "Is everything okay?" I explained my experience and told her with half of a crabcake sandwich left which I was enjoying up until the whole hot sauce french fry ordeal, I have no intentions of paying for my meal. She said she would take my meal off the bill, and said that maybe the hot sauce had accidentally splashed on my order of fries. Really? Well I guess someone turned it over because when I picked it up, I didn't initially notice the hot sauce on it because the sauce was only underneath the fry. The manager looked at my friend, not me and apologized. (Which was totally rude) The manager deducted my meal from the bill. If you thought this was the end, wait there's more. As we are leaving the restaurant two of the three girls who are believed to be Hostess, never parted their lips to say Thank you or Please come again. They were only concerned with talking to one another. I can tolerate and overlook a lot of things but bad service is not acceptable. I understand why there is only one Jasper's left in the DMV. Eat at Jasper's????? NEVER AGAIN! Talk to Phil, the manager at this location. The demeanor Phil showed as it relates to bad service customers provided to his patrons spoke volumes of why this type of behavior happens at Jasper's. He was just as nonchalant as the Hostess, waiter and the night manager. What if I suffered from food allergies? The lack of accountability, is the reason for there being only one Jasper's left in the DMV and just like the others this will be closed in a year or two. read more

The first thing I DONT want to see when I walk into a restaurant is the hostess playing on their phones...and throughout the time I was here. It's unappealing to watch this. Put your phone away and get to work or go home and don't get paid...you pick. Took forever to get drinks. Waitstaff was slow. Giving one star due to customer service. As I asked for Parmesan cheese the waitress came back and told me they'll have to charge me extra for it! I got pasta it's standard to have Parmesan cheese with any pasta dish. Finally convincing the waitress she came back with some Parmesan and said the manager said it was "ok". As a chef myself I'm trying to figure out where the miscommunication is here. The host decided he wanted to sit with a table for at least 20 minutes. Once again if he doesn't want to work stop wasting the restaurants time, money and man power. Food was ok I had the lunch spicy shrimp and chicken pasta. Alfredo sauce was oily and lacked seasoning. Friend has a turkey and avocado club but I had better sandwiches at subway. Any who definitely won't return and not worth the money spent. I'm not a picky eater but things add up when reviewing quality of a restaurant. One star is well deserved for this place. read more

Horrible, horrible, horrible! Although I have visited this place numerous times, tonight was the absolutely worst!! My mother who is visiting me from Mississippi ordered a medium well steak and received a medium rare one. We waited for the waiter to come back for about 20 minutes. After that time had passed, she was completely turned off! The manager came and said that he could not remove the meal from our bill and that he could only cook a new steak. At this point, who wants a new steak? We were so turned off and just ready to leave at this point. He explained that it was nothing he could do but cook a new one. I gave him back EVERYTHING we had including full drinks and meals. Look, I do not play about stuff like this! I will pay for quality things, not shitty things any day!! I typically don't like Jaspers. I just happened to go because some friends suggested it. I had low expectations. However, I was surprised today. The service was good. The red beans and rice were off the chain. I recommend it for sure. I had the strawberry shortcake for dessert. I usually hate strawberry sauce because I picture it coming from a bottle. However, the shortcake was good and the sauce tasted fresh. I do plan on checking Jaspers out again. I hope I stay a fan. read more

AWFUL experience from start to finish. I gave them one star because I was forced to do so in order to leave a review. FOOD ISSUES: I went to Sunday brunch with two friends. They ordered the brunch buffet and I ordered a cajun blackened salmon Ceasar salad with crumbled bacon. Aboout 15 minutes into my salad, my stomach started bothering me. I ended up only eating about half the salad and 45 minutes later - I became very ill. My second friend barely made it home before she became ill and the third friend marinated about two hours before she became ill. The only thing we all had some of were the waffles from the buffet but honestly who knows what triggered the issue as I became almost immediately ill. PARKING LOT ISSUES: Once I was finally able to drag myself out of the restroom, we promptly paid the check only to return to find one of our cars had been broken into. When the officer arrived to complete the police report, he explained how this is a fairly regular occurence and that what he was most suprised by was that only one car had targeted that day. *blank stare* OTHER PATRON ISSUES: While we were awaiting police arrival, two other patrons who had recently finished eating there became ill in the parking lot. RESTAURANT ISSUES: Let me count the ways! 1) To describe the host/hostess/greeters or whatever title they hold as unfriendly / uninviting would be a gross understatement. Not so much rude as completely unbothered! 2) The sign posted at the host podium reads (in summary) "You have two hours from the time you've been seated (although it reads) to complete your food so all may enjoy our buffet." Clearly this is a popular place for Sunday brunch and obviously their goal is to pack in as many people as is humanly possible - but I have to believe there's a more effective way to manage your patrons. 3) Ahhh the waitstaff. Let me just say this - everyone employed at this location could benefit from some training - especially management - because clearly there is a lack of progressive leadership that you can find no better solution to packing in as many people as you can for brunch. And again, no one makes you feel welcome to be there - AT ALL. 4) While my friends and I obviously missed the memo on the theft ring that consistently targets patron vehicles in the lot, I doubt the restaurant "management" was unaware. By the looks of things yesterday, a stationary camera is posted on the roof of the building. Assuming the camera even works and I'm feeling very confident that's a hefty assumption - note the word STATIONARY. The camera points in one direction rather than oscillating so unless you're lucky enough to be robbed in the camera's line of site - again assuming it works - you're still out of luck. BOTTOM LINE: The issues I've described will absolutely never be my issue again. The apparent mild food poisoning was deal breaker enough for me. The robbery was icing on the cake. Patrons beware!! If you decide to patronize this establishment leave absolutely nothing in your car that remotely appears of value and maybe stick to the drinks because I am unsure what's happening with that food. I WILL NEVER GO AGAIN! read more

Sorry, not impressed. Was looking for a good place to eat while visiting from Atlanta, I think I could've gone to regular old Outback next door and had a better meal. When I walked in I wasnt sure if we were in a club, a casino, a sports bar!?! The place is humongous, but looked nice enough. It looks like 4 restaurants in one. We had about a 15 minute wait, not too bad and was seated in a nice big comfy booth. When our server finally showed up he was quite a silly teenage boy who seemed overwhelmed. He got the drink orders wrong. He completely forgot to put in the order for appetizers. When we mentioned it he laughed it off and made a joke...doesn't he know hungry people are serious about their food and that the fact he was a Chris Brown look-a-like was not going to matter to me? Not amused. We had the New Orleans Shrimp for an appetizer...I visit NOLA at least 4 times a year for business...all I'm saying is Jasper needs to rename that dish as it does not compare. Followed with the French Onion soup which was more like onion water with bread and cheese. But then for the entree came the Crab Explosion...it was actually VERY good. Seasoned well, no fillers like they do in Atlanta. Crab isn't my thing as it makes me nauseous if eating too much of it, I'm a lobster kind of girl, but I give that Crab Explosion a 4.5 out of 5. But that's all that was good. Lastly, the police swarming the parking lot when I arrived and still there when I left concerned me...I didn't know if I should feel safe or worried. That was just weird in a restaurant parking lot as if it was a club and they expected something crazy to go down. The service started bad and ended bad. 2 stars only cause the food was ok even though we did not receive a salad we asked for as an app or one of the sides we asked for with our food. We waited about 20 min for our drinks and it was only 3 of us. After we finally got those bar drinks then our waters we asked for came. We were never checked on to see if our food was ok or if we needed refills or anything. We also waited over 25 minutes for a box after asking 3 times. You have to love Jasper's! When you walk in and feel the comfortable, laid back vibe and atmosphere, you never want to leave. Highly professional people, delicious variety of food and beverages that you will and can indulge in, and just a safe feeling when your there. You never have to look over your shoulder during your dining experience. I personally would like to send a shout out to Michael. A hardworking man, who knows that restaurant like the back of his hand. He no longer serves on the floor anymore, he's now a manager, but even as a manager, that humble and professional attitude still remained with him! He really just makes you feel comfortable, and does his best to ensure that every customer leaves feeling satisfied and happy that they chose Jasper's to dine at, instead of any other restaurant in the surrounding area. A huge congratulations to Michael is in order, and a big thank you to him for his hard work, dedication, and CONSTANT professionalism. Everything was amazing. I was pleasantly surprised. Honestly. The salmon was juicy and seasoned well. The shrimp was a bit overcooked but it was super tasty. I loved the seasoning on the asparagus. Their sweet potato casserole is AH-MAZING. read more

Came for Sunday brunch with my family. The wait was relatively short, fifteen minutes although it didn't seem that crowded. Our waiter was prompt and pleasant. The food was mediocre at best. Nothing special or enough to make me want to return. What happened next was the crazy part. As soon as we go to pay a women who claims to be a manager appears to tell us we have exceeded our two hour limit and have to go. She says there are signs posted and on the menu. First we had the buffet so no menu and when we left we asked to see the sign and we're told it must have been removed. So no signs about the two hour limit. We were paying the bill and leaving anyway. A few minutes and we would have been gone. No harm no foul. So instead, now you have 4 disgruntled diners. I went to Jasper's for Sunday brunch. I am not the biggest fan of buffets in general so please consider that while reading my review. The service was mediocre. Our waitress was only attentive as we were leaving and she was over tipped. The food was JUST barely OK. My friend commented that his fajitas were watery. I had an omelet which was just OK. Long time ago I worked at Jasper's for a few months waiting tables. During that time I fell in love with the crab dip. So, for years I would go to the closest location for special occasions to get my crab dip and stuffed shrimp. Then all locations closed except Largo, I was sad, by that time I was a Baltimore resident and knew I would never be down that way. Recently I have been in the area during lunch so said to myself. "Jasper's! Crab Dip! Gotta have it now" Both times I visited the past month have been disappointing! crab dip is same recipe but they serve it with store made chips now. First visit it was cold! so cold I just boxed it up and made home made chips when I got home to eat it. Second visit it was in a smaller bowl with same boring chips and half loaf of hard stale bread. On both visits my partner asked for a recommendation from me. I suggested chicken tenders based on my partners taste in food and what was popular when I worked there. Partner loved them on first visit, something about the honey mustard is addicting. Second visit they were way to overcooked and dry. I'm usually a crab dip is a meal girl but since the first visit was disappointing I order the club sandwich on the second visit. Really, it was nothing special, fresh bread not toasted so got soggy within 5 minutes. First layer of lettuce was nice and fresh, but the second layer of lettuce was wilted and I had to pick it off. But the one thing that bothered me most of all was the service. Wait staff was friendly but both times I was there for over an hour. This is lunch, who has over an hour to eat during the day. On this last visit I asked for a box, normal indicator that I was done. 20minutes later a box came with no check. Asked for a check, that came 10 minutes later. Immediately put card in folio, she picked it up 5 minutes later and processed the card for 10 minutes. This was a late lunch, not crowded so no excuse for me to wait over 40 minutes after my last bite to wait to close out the table. As I waited I got more infuriated watching traffic back up on 495 via an app because this waitress took her time closing me out. I went into the restaurant around 2:50 and left at 4:15. When I worked at Jasper's all those years ago, lunch was supposed to be wrapped up by 45 minutes for customers, 30 minutes was ideal and 90 minutes for dinner. This policy seems to not exist anymore and once you order you are stuck until they wait staff decides when you can leave. No good! read more

Today June 15, 2018 around 4:30pm I came to Jasper's for my first dine in. Our server was a young man by the name of Solomon. He was wonderful to have! He was polite, he knew his work and was very professional. Our meals were prompt and he didn't miss not one thing! I asked for an email because I tried to put my experience on the site but wasn't able to. The only issue we had was there was a seat misunderstanding but the young lady who section it became after some time i guess. She had an attitude. She has to remember first impressions are a lot. If it was a misunderstanding then it's ok just breathe and present yourself calm. Her name was Kris. I enjoyed my service to the fullest because of that encounter with our waiter. My boyfriend and I will dine here more often! Please tell this young man great job and keep up the good work. I look forward to his service and more like him! Job well done young man. I went their for my brothers 20 birthday Briana was our server, she did a terrible job. I went to the bathroom when I came back my brother was drinking a afterparty (alcohol drink). He was sick all night. Our server would of known if she check his ID. when I called to speak with the manager Carl Jones. Today I visited Jasper's for a retirement event with my fellow co-workers. While there, three of my co-workers and I went to the bar to order Patron Margaritas. One of my co-workers offered to pay for the drinks, and he did, at the bar. Later in the evening, a server named Jalen approached me showing me a receipt, and accusing me of not paying for my drink. I told her no, you did not serve me a drink, my drink was purchased from the bar. Then as I was exiting, the manager on duty Carl Jones approached me accusing me of trying to leave with an outstanding bill. I felt extremely embarrassed as I was with co-workers who knew that I was telling the truth. I explained to him but the server Jalen was very rude and attempted to argue with me. At that time when her manager was present, she then accused me of purchasing 2 Patron Margaritas from her. I defended my case with both of them. It was obvious the manager took her side because he said, "Well, she's saying she rung up 2 drinks for you." I called on the other 2 co-workers who were with me when the drinks were ordered and purchased at the bar, and they defended me as well. I told Mr. Jones that the both of them insulted my integrity and I will never patronize this establishment again. Neither apologized to me, or made an attempt to make amends, which I also find unsatisfactory. I have frequent this restaurant over the years. In addition, my close friends and I patronize their Sunday Brunch at least once a month. However, if this is how disputes between consumers are handled, I rather take my business elsewhere. read more

If I could give this rating less than 1 star I would . The service was piss poor . I went there on a Friday night with a friend . We were seated by the host and then seated in a booth near the kitchen . We were sat at a dirty table , and had to wipe the crumbs and trash off ourselves . We waited at the table for almost 45 minutes to an hour . Around 5 servers passed our table without acknowledging us . Finally , our server Beverly approaches our table . Until my friend also noticed her disgusting, unprofessional demeanor. Our food arrives and it wasn't great at all . It was cold . I ordered the Cajun pasta . She forgot to give us silverwear , 20 min after delivering our food . She damn near throws the plates on the tables at us . She rcame and checked on us one time the whole time we were there . I was so in disbelief I lost my appetite . I no longer wanted my food . I just wanted the check and to leave . 45 minutes passed and Beverly was no where to be found . We flagged another waitress down . A short , young woman with dreads with multiple ear piercings. We asked her could she let Beverly know can we get the check . She gives us the stankest look imaginable and walks away mid way into the conversation. Finally , Beverly shows up with the check . She takes another 45 minutes to come get the check . Just a receipt with no book for the card . While I noticed other tables got a book and I didn't . Very unprofessional, and I wouldn't recommend this place on my deathbed or my worst day . Save your money and eat else where , unless you like being disrespected and treated like bottom of the barrel ocean trash . This restaurant isn't an environment for grown adults . It's more for young adults who wear skimpy clothing and wife beater shirts and gym shorts . Who wears that to a place of eating ? Throw the whole restaurant away !! read more

I went to Jasper's last weekend for brunch with friends. The food was good, but the service was the worst! The server kept up us waiting for long periods of time, and we had to ask repeatedly for water and our mimosas. When he finally returned to the table he dropped off 3 cups of ice. Without the water or mimosas. On top of that, when he brought the check the others in my party left cash to avoid waiting longer for him to bring back their credit cards. I gave him my credit card for my portion of the check, received my receipt and left. Long story short, the server pocketed the cash and charged the other's portion of the check to my credit card in a second transaction. When I called the manager, he was very nonchalant about it, never apologizing, but holding to it as a mistake - saying the server initially charged my card for the entire bill my mistake (ignoring the fact that it would have been one whole charge, and not two separate charges if that was the case). I will not be dining at this restaurant in the future due to the poor customer service and unprofessional nature of the staff and management. read more

jaspers has really good food and drinks for the most part but leadership lacks the skill set to lead a restaurant of this magnitude. two more specifically. those two would be aaron and brian. my sister and i visited the establishment for happy hour and expressed concern regarding an issue with other customers. in an attempt to avoid confrontation, and to let management handle the issue they did nothing and left the sever in an uncomfortable situation. at the end of the day it was never handled and we had to leave due to the lack of leadership of managment. even though it was a difficult situation to address it is the job of management to address any concern presented. they never even came over to express why or why not they could or would not handle the situation. fyi i was hit twice by another costumer becuase they were seated in a manner and position that wa s not a designated seating area. to avoid an altercation i just left and will not be back. do better and do your job! read more

So excited to have been taken to Jasper's for my first time for Mother's Day Brunch yesterday ! With the understanding this is a VERY busy day, we meant to get there at least when they opened at 11, but I, for one was running a bit behind, so we arrived around 12 noon I believe. My dear daughter put us (a party of 4) on the waiting courtesy list and was told the estimated wait-time was 45 minutes. I noticed it was a bit warm near the front reception area, but didn't give it much thought as it was humid out & the front doors were constantly opening & closing (actually one door was propped open for some reason) So we drove around the area a little - including my son & toddler granddaughter, for about 10 minutes or so. We arrived back, my daughter checked our wait position & was told it would be some more time. We ended up waiting a total of at least an hour and a half vs just 45 min ! By then, we had gone to the restrooms, my daughter & g-baby went to the car and my son went for a quick walk. We were quite hungry by the time our name was called. Got offered a booth arrangement near the front - luckily because it was then we found out why it was so hot in the front area. NO air conditioning in the entire restaurant ! We tolerated it because the buffet food was pretty good, but our waitress was not very pleasant, she seemed annoyed (whenever she didn't ignore our table in passing by) whenever we were able to ask her for items. I ordered a side of grits she finally brought after a long wait, the bowl was lukewarm but I paid it no mind until I tried them (same temp unfortunately). We never got our ice waters we ordered when we first sat down & she had asked what drinks ? The fish (fried Tilapia) was very good (reminded us of catfish - one of our favorites - actually thought is was) - the outer coating a bit too salty for my taste though. The hot wings & regular fried chicken had no seasoning (marinating) flavor - other than the coating, I guess the restaurant didn't salt pre-season the meat due to folks w/health issues ? The eggs on the buffet choice were those non-cholesterol per-mixed eggs (non of us savored), but the omelets by the chefs (on-demand) were delicious ! We felt sorry for the cooks & servers, they were visibly sweating & uncomfortable - it was so hot in the place...no courtesy fans, either ! Also, there were flies flying & sitting on the desserts (I "shooed" one away near our table) because of the open doors for ventilation near the front entrance & restrooms (side doors). When I inquired of one of the Managers if we could get a table discount due to the condition of the heat & all after I finally got his attention from frantically looking around for potential seats for the bus-boys/girls to ready for waiting patrons, he seemed visibly confused by the question and nonchalantly exclaimed "Well you all already have been eating...." .Which had absolutely no relevance to adding a discount to our bill. Also asked (in thoughts of returning) when the air conditioning was expected to be repaired and he as well as other employees had no idea. Thus, I appreciate & love my daughter for the suggestion & bringing us to the restaurant for Mother's Day (she had been there before with a friend during a much better experience she said), loved the music, decor and spaciousness of the place (incl. the restrooms - which even other patrons stated was "cooler" - we did too (some ladies were in the restroom just to chit-chat at the sinks to get away from the heat of inside & outside the restaurant ! Don't blame them. Hope if I/we ever frequent this restaurant again, it will be a better experience ? Price was reasonable also...as for our server/waitress - she would've gotten a better tip (I didn't want to give her ANYTHING, but my daughter gave a couple bucks), we hope to get a friendlier, more outgoing one next time - if ever... read more

The one rule I have for the DMV is to not expect excellent service and just be happy if you get decent service. Jaspers normally gives decent service but today I experienced HORRIBLE service. We were immediately seated but the wait for our server was about 20 minutes. The place was empty so servers were plenty. They were either watching the game, sitting down, talking to each other, etc. After talking to two servers and a greeter our server comes over. Long story short if you experience horrible service here call for management IMMEDIATELY because at the end of your horrible experience they can not do anything to make up for the documented service but offer you a business card with hand written voucher on it. That's an old trick if you go anytime the guy is not there or if he is fired, no one can honor this because its not a an official voucher etc. Moral of the story is I'm just disappointed in Jaspers. The last two times I have brought new clients there its been horrible and it seems this will now be the norm. read more
