We were supposed to drive to NY today but the check engine light came on. They addressed our concerns, explained what they were going to do and what the solution could be. The wait was a little bit long but everything was thorough. George replaced a spark plug that was causing the problem with a used one so we could at least make the trip back. I brought my 2003 Honda Accord in for several issues I have been dealing with, plus I was planning a road trip and wanted safe trouble-free driving. They did a great check up on my car and a tune up. Howard, the owner, also made sure the mechanic was working on my car for specific problems. They also advised me that I had one really bad tire that needed to be replaced right away. My tires were really worn down and they were horrible tires to begin with (stay away from Fuzion tires). I had ordered a set of Uniroyal Tiger Paws from Walmart a couple of days ago and was waiting for their arrival. I got the impression that they were very honest with me in what needed to be done for my car. I have a slow oil leak from the rear main seal and they advised me not to fix it since it's a very expensive repair. One other shop wanted $600 and Jap Tech quoted $900 since they would have to remove the transmission to fix that leak. Anyways, I am happy to check my oil every couple of weeks, and if my transmission ever goes out on me, they would then fix that particular oil leak. I also called before I came in and it was not early in the morning and they advised me to come in anyways and that I would have to wait awhile. It was worth the wait. Right before I left, I got a message that Walmart had my new tires ready to install. Since I had the new tires installed and Jap Tech worked on my car, my car is driving like a charm. I will definitely go back there for future work on my Honda. I would like to add that I did business with them down in the Kendall area off of Bird Road for many years back in the 1990's. read more

I have used Jap Tech twice and they exceeded my expectations each time. On the first occasion, I could not get my car out of park. The local Acura dealer kept the car for two days and could find nothing wrong. I called Howard at Jap Tech and he knew exactly what was wrong and had it fixed in a day. Recently my car was shifting roughly. I was certain it needed a new transmission (it's 14 years old) but Howard recommended a transmission fluid change. It worked! I had a blinking transmission light on my Acura and I took it into a nationally known franchise whose specialty is transmissions. After a test ride and computer diagnostics I was told that I would require extensive repairs. I remembered visiting Jap Tech years ago and decided to go there and get a second opinion. I walked in without an appointment and was greeted warmly by the service writer. After a thorough evaluation George the mechanic told me exactly what repairs were needed and it can be done right after they get the parts. I'm glad I decided to get another opinion and I highly recommend one, especially if it involves the transmission. All these reviews on Google and Yelp have to be from personal friends of the business or those who have no knowledge about the car they're driving to begin with. I brought my Acura Tl 2005 over here initially to get my rear engine mount changed and Howard talked me into getting a 50 dollar inspection Instead claiming that it couldn't be the source of the sound I was hearing. After the inspection he tells me that oh the balljoint you just installed has gone bad. Mind you its an aftermarket piece and I just installed a week prior to going there and said my engine mounts were perfect and the fact that i was hearing these sounds was most likely my engine and he and his technician made a joke at me " This is what happens when you buy a rebuilt title" , WHAT THE FUCK?!?! Ive had my car for over 3 years now daily driver it has nothing to do with the title of my vehicle nor my engine you ass. Me not being an vechicular idiot and fed up by his reply decided I change my mounts myself and ALL 3 were busted. Mind you after my visit they call me back to ask if I had my problem solved so I could come in again, YEAH, RIGHT. FUCK HOWARD & FUCK JAPTECH if you have no knowledge of your vehicle expect to get swindled by these people. Wow! Jap Tech used to have a shop in the Bird Road area of Kendall a few years ago. I couldn't find the shop. Little did I know that they closed the shop down but open another shop in the Hollywood/Pines area. I was a little worried about coming in because I had always took the vehicle to the dealer for service. I was blown away by the service that I receive here. No pressure whatsoever on what you need or don't need. They gave a detailed service plan and concerns that the tech observed. I have already recommended a friend about this shop. Honest people. if it's safe to wait and not fix it, they will tell you to wait. They have price list so they don't make up prices. If you call them, they will tell you straight up how much it's gonna be (e.g. oil change). they are not expensive and ask YOU what you need, not just push you to pay for additional service that you don't need.
