First visit they "fixed" the small problem with my car for an expensive price so I assume oh good my car is running perfectly fine again as it has for the past 3 years. Next problem is a corroded wire or something causing my car not to start, I take it here then again they "fix" it for a premium price. Now a couple days after my last visit my car is overheating all of a sudden a problem which has never occurred before with my car before I took it to this repair shop. I called the shop. The guy did not give his name and asked me to drop the car to diagnose it with the caveat they charge 3 hours of labor $450 to give the diagnose prior to work on it. I called today because a good friend of mine gets his car fixed there. I have never been but I had a tiny repair that everyone else was going to make me wait three hours to get done. My brake lights on my 2011 Crosstour wouldn't turn off. The little pad fell out that goes in the break pedal to keep the light from staying on. When I called on the phone, the guy was so nice AND he knew exactly what I was talking about. He told me just come by... thats a quick fix and one of his guys can fix it in a few minutes. I have been taking my Acura to this shop for years now and the work they do is average for what they charge. On my last service I asked to replace front brake pads only however the pads and discs were replace even if i did not authorize the discs. Now, several hundred dollars later the car has refurbish discs (not new and they look used to me). Never got my old rusted discs back - you draw your own conclusions. My father brought our 2012 Yaris to Jap Tech this past Friday morning. We've had a suspension issue where it was eating up the tires. Jap Tech not only looked And checked it out in a timely manner but they were also super honest. They didn't try to take advantage of us or anything. They told us the problem and referred us to a trusted place we can go to to get the vehicle aligned. They charged us a reasonable fee to troubleshoot the problem and also did a complete inspection of the vehicle and told us it was in great shape mechanically for a 10 year old car. My Toyota was unfixable by several dealerships. They could not figure out the issue and did not really spend much time trying to troubleshoot my problem. I brought it to Jap tech and they listened to my feedback and were able to narrow the brake slapping sound to an issue with the wheel hub. They also recharged the ac and tested for leaks. Met Howard about 40 years ago. I had just left the local Honda dealer who said my cruise control would cost 350 to fix. Saw Howard's on the way home stopped in for a oil change just mentioned what the Honda dealer said. Howard disappeared from the cash register next thing I see he's under my steering wheel on the floor board comes back in and said the cruise controls all set. He said it had a set screw that was loose no charge. He's been my mechanic ever since. He now repairs my kids cars. We moved to Georgia for a 6 years and still brought our cars to Howard for all major tune ups and repairs. Never check his price or worry if I'm getting a fair deal. They were very knowledgeable, found that I didn't need to replace the parts the other shop recommended, and they fixed another underlying issue I'd had for a year for a third of the price the other shop quoted. Sorry Yelpies buttttt I beg to differ. I came here to fix my AC, because let's face it it's south florida and we can't survive 20 mins without it. Well my family has been coming here for years (probably more than 8 years) so when my AC broke my dad suggested to bring it here. To begin with, yes Orlando is extremely nice and helpful and they do fix your car but the reason I am giving them two stars is pricing. Just to check what was wrong with my car I had to pay $50 and by checking what was wrong I mean they put colored water in my AC unit and just look for leaks. BOOM! $50 bucks for that. Fine turns out I needed a new compressor, crap! What's the damage?! $1,040 (ball park) my heart freaking dropped, my dad explained to me that yes usually to fix and order a new compressor it could cost that much. I refused to believe that and made a phone call to a well connected friend. Long story short I got my whole AC compressor, in a different shop, brand new out of the box installed for $485!!!! That is less than freaking half!!! Granted, you will probably not find the price I paid because I did have a great connection or "hook up" as the kids call it these days, but that just comes to prove that the cost of labor here is jacked up! I was able to see what the actual part cost and noticed that the price of labor alone was about $600. That's A LOT. So in the end of the day Orlando is awesome, they will find and fix the problem but before you sign any papers shop around. P.s- two people told me that their mechanics don't charge to find the problem, even the guy who did end up fixing my car told me that's not right he would have told me that I needed a new compressor for free. So I lost 50 bucks. read more

I have a 2006 Acura RSX with only 87,000 miles. These days I only drive about 1000 miles a year. I had the oil changed 12 months ago and Rick Case told me that I needed to change the rear brakes on the next trip. I decided to go to Jap Tech after doing a lot of internet research and the reviews were correct! Howard and George are as honest as you can get. George came back into the waiting area and showed me the calibrations for both the front and rear brakes and said they were fine. He also said that my oil is perfect and doesn't need to be changed even though it's been a year. They charged me $49.50 for a full vehicle inspection and topped off the fluids. Most people would take advantage of a service request even if it weren't needed and go ahead and perform it, not these guys. I will be sure to spread the word, because honesty is priceless! read more

This place is awesome. I brought my 2010 Acura Tl there because it wasn't shifting as smooth as it use to, and it felt somewhat sluggish. Orlando took it for a test drive (I was in the car with him while he drove) and said the car was driving the way it suppose to, it shifted through all it gears. He said my car was fine (this was music to my ear) but he'll check my transmission fluid to see whether it require some attention. He came back to me and showed me how dirty my transmission fluid was. He said he recommended that I change my transmission fluid. I agreed. I asked him are they using Honda/Acura ATF Dw-1 fluid and he said yes, then proceeded to the back where he grab a bottle to show me what's going in my car.....indeed they had a full stock of Honda/Acura ATF DW-1 fluid. The service took about an hour (that's including the road test as well). When I drove my car I immediately notice a difference. It's so smooth now again. Holy crap, who would of knew that a dirty transmission fluid would affect the way the car drives. I baby my car, and get every require maintenance, so I don't know how I miss this one. I've gone to Jap Tech regularly over the past 6 years for my 2004 Acura TL and now my 2014 Honda Accord. Howard and his shop have always treated me well, have never pressured me into paying for anything, and their pricing has always been fair, especially considering they have all genuine Honda parts. . After being told I needed to replace my power steering pump for upwards of $300, I took my TL to Howard and he found the problem was actually a loose bolt and fixed it for $10. I even went into his shop ready to pay for a repair i thought I needed and Howard advised me it wasn't necessary and I walked out of his shop without spending a dime, a situation very rare to find in this industry.
