We had a reservation for 5 at 7:00 on New Year's Eve we got there very early at 5:20. We thought it wouldn't be busy but we could barely walk in was so packed. We sat down and put our names on a list along with our reservation. June went by and the people with a 6:00 reservation never sat down and it was already 6:30. People were running around like crazy trying to keep up with the crowd. Of all the locations this is my favorite! From the managers to the wait staff they are all friendly and curteous. They have a large selection of Chinese & Japanese cuisines. The best part of the menu is the lunch of the back. Great choices, nice portions, and cheap prices to boot! They come with soup, and rice. This place is nasty. The decor is hideous and outdated. The leather is old and tearing in the booths. My miso soup was overwhelmingly salty and the sushi fish was low quality and off. Never left a place so annoyed as I left this place. Never brought a high chair for our baby, there was a dirty sticky knife on the table, took over 20 mins for waitress to acknowledge us and take our order even though the place was 1/4th full. The food was good. The service was terrible. Never asked if we wanted refills, or if the food was ok, or anything. I was annoyed so I left a 3 dollar tip, and the waitress has the nerve to come back to our table to tell me i need to leave at least 15% tip. We were two people, a baby and a 30 dollar check, how about you take whatever I was generous enough to give you since you were a terrible server you money hungry jerk. Never again. I went inside yo order, and while I was waiting, I can see the people prepairing the food. They were eating, chewing and drinking over the food they were prepairing. One lady was chewing on something that looked like a stick or something to that nature. She kept sticking it in and out of her mouth. VERY GROSS. The food and drinks they were having were being put down on the same food stations they were working on customers food. Love the fact that you can order both japanese and chinese so if you're undecided on what you want you can mix and match to your taste. For me its wonton soup, beef teriyaki and brown rice which for some reason was the best rice I ever tasted from an asian restaurant. Superfast delivery as well and we live 15 min away. Jani is short for Janitorial Staff. The waitstaff really wants you to get the hell out, clean your table and have you pay as soon as you sit down. That's why i call them the jani-torial staff. Large room with comfy seats and mirrored ceiling. I usually get take out and have not been dissapointed. Delivery is always quick. When the hours posted on the door and on your website say that you are open at 11:00 AM, then you should be open at 11:00 AM. When a person walks in at 11:30 AM and is told that it will be another ten minutes before they are open, that is unacceptable. We heard so may greats things about this restaurant so I figured we would give it a try. I hate to give a negative review but this place really deserves it. We ordered out and the food was terrible! Some of the dishes had a weird smokey favor like nicotine, so much so, that I told my children to stop eating it because I was truly concerned. Then the boneless spare ribs had a ton of bones (or cartilage) in them, again a serious choking hazard!!! Lastly, the chicken dish we ordered hardly had any chicken in it and the few pieces of chicken that were in the dish were chewy and gross! I hope none of us get sick from this experience. Just ordered from this place at the office. I ordered the lunch vegetable fried rice with the hot and sour soup. The rice was decent the soup was good definitely spicy. I also got an avocado roll which was excellent and a green salad which they gave a generous portion of. Ginger dressing was tasty. Jani is one of my first stops when I set foot in Wantagh. Writing this review makes me miss my family (sister Tammy and brother in law) and all our memories! We have eaten a lot of Jani take out over the years with good memories attached! The dumplings, wontons, and all of the shrimp dishes are amazing. I am a bit of a traditionalist and get a lot of shrimp with vegetables and various sauces. The shrimp and veggies are fresh and all the dishes are delicious! No one can compete! read more

Had dinner with my mom. Between the hours of 5-6pm, they give you a free glass of red or white wine, choice of soup, choice of appetizer n a dessert which is a large orange. The entree portions are small in comparison to the price. We ordered two. A pineapple fried rice and mango chicken. I've never ate a dish where there are more pineapples than rice. The rice got lost between the huge blocks of pineapple, a couple of shrimp and slices of chicken. It was tasty but not plentiful for the $15.95 price. The mango chicken was okay. I had better at vegetarian palate. This was a drive by, I'm hungry,let's go here type of restaurant. We won't be back. read more

Gave this place a shot for lunch. Only tasty thing I had was the fried noodles they give each table. Miso soup was very bland, salad was impossible to eat and enjoy without making a mess, and the chicken teriyaki was extremely flavorless. I honestly felt like I was just eating boiled chicken PLAIN. We have always loved coming here, but within the last year or so things have really changed for the worse. They are not friendly anymore, all the waiters look annoyed and aren't friendly at all. They seem to forget about us at certain points and we are just sitting there waiting for our order to be taken or waiting to get the bill for way longer than we should be waiting. And oh yea.. We recently found a long HAIR in our food. It was disgusting, but the way they handles it was even more appalling. Then a few weeks later we heard that friends of our had ordered take out from them and found a piece of plastic and a STAPLE in their food. The service was sub-par at best -- we had to wait forever just to place our orders, and then again to get our (over priced) drinks. The entire meal was actually over priced. The food was bland and the soup tasted like it was reheated and diluted. The portions were large, but the proportion of meat to veg in meat dishes is less than desirable. So, I used to absolutely LOVE this place- great food, never had an issue, came here with my family all the time.... But yesterday, I went here for lunch with my boyfriend and paid the bill. On my way to work later in the evening (I work nights), I realized that I forgot my credit card in the check booklet. I thought, "no harm, no foul. Tomorrow after I sleep a bit I'll go and get it." One o'clock the next day, I get a call from CHASE asking me if I just bought $200 at Nordstrom Rack. Furious, I realize that my card has been stolen, and someone has racked up about $350 worth of stuff. Since I left my card in the check booklet, it can only have been a waiter/bus person. Angry as can be, I storm into the place and demand to speak to a manager to tell them that they have a thief in their staff, and low and behold they DENY EVERYTHING. They said "oh, it must have been a customer, are you sure you left it here? yesterday? No, our employees get out late, they wouldn't have time to do that." Just basically YOU'RE WRONG. My card was left there for less than 24 hours and an employee stole it and went shopping. Screw this place, I'm never going back, and neither should you. read more

Considering the items they forgot were the items the kids were eating I asked them to deliver the missing items asap.
