Some intelligence officer in management decided to turn off the Tyson/Paul event in the bar just prior to the bout starting. The bar cleared out accordingly. Someone needs a lesson in customer service. The food was typical Alaska Tex Mex, margaritas were better than most. read more

We enjoyed an incredible spread featuring the mini carne asadas, flavorful fish tacos, and perfectly seasoned rice and beans, all paired with refreshing margaritas that hit the spot! The staff was welcoming, and the service flowed seamlessly at just the right pace. We will be back! read more

Jalapeno's - Mexican Near Me - Eagle River, Alaska

My family was completely ignored. No one came to greet us to bring water or to take our orders

I made a review 10 days ago. It was a 1 star. My wife and I haven't been back but my daughter is home from college until December and she went to the new location with her friends last night. I wish she would have told me she was going there ahead of time but unfortunately she did not and she had an awful experience for a very high price tag. She was with a group of 3 young ladies. My daughter had an adult drink and an entree. She shared a fried ice cream with her friends and her bill was $60. She complained her service was slow, food was cold, and they charged the girls for the extra servings of chips they ate while waiting an hour for their food. They asked for a manager to remove the up charge on the extra chips and tell her about the long wait as well as the cold food. She refused and sounds like she was condescending to my daughter. The description my daughter gave me matches the same gargantuan woman who refused to move my wife and I to a less crowded and cleaner area. Heather is her name. I will be back one more time and it won't be to eat the mediocre overpriced food. I will be back to have some words with Heather who accused my daughter who's currently enrolled in law school at Stanford she couldn't read the menu properly and doesn't understand math. Heather made mentioned she's a full time employee at "Anchorage Schools" and per my daughter's report made her feel like she was giving her a lesson. My daughter took the $4 extra she was charged for chips off the top. That's the real math lesson here. Plus that's 3 more people who won't be back. I give this establishment less than a year and they will be out of business. read more

A good place to get a Tex-Mex lunch special in Eagle River. Prices were good, but portions were a little small for me. Food was lacking in any sort of heat, odd for a place named after chili peppers! I've only gotten takeout, I hope to go back for (dine-in) dinner and give them another shot. read more

The food's all right the prices aren't bad bad but they're not the most amazing Mexican restaurant I've ever been to there's one in Fort Wayne, Indiana. That was the best Mexican restaurant called Azteca they have the best food, amazing margaritas, soups, and chips and salsa until you can explode. The only problem is the restaurants a little small. read more

Hadn't been to Jalapeños in about seven years, rediscovered why I stayed away. Yikes, the asada burrito I had was so bland, the beans were like gruel, and the rice had no flavor. Nothing. No spice. The only thing that was decent was the green sauce on the burrito. I also don't appreciate the cashier asking if I wanted my change back before I even give my payment. Too many other great restaurant choices around in Anchorage and that includes food trucks. Ambiance was about the same, but there was a band. read more

First time to the new location not by choice, salsa was bland and had a bad taste to ordered the most basic think on the menu, two beef tacos ala carte, cold, bland, didn't even eat the second one, only ate half of the first. Service was okay, I would consider going back for drinks on the top deck is about it. Chepos is 10x better! read more

We went there for a midafternoon lunch. Service was terrible, they complained entire time about no help, only one cook, food took forever, food was cold was extremely disappointed! read more

Portions were huge food was hot and delicious staff was attentive and friendly- I've found the spot I want to frequent in our neighborhood!

Would be a good place if it wasn't for the food & service. Had a pitcher of water spilled on me & barely an apology. All of our food came out late & spread out over 7 min. Food was bland. Wobbly tables that we had to level out. Will never go back read more

Love Jalepeños. They are friendly with good food. I've ordered for my students before and they are always smooth with delivery. Today I picked up a to-go order and didn't check the bag before I left. The Que Rico cheese wasn't in there when I got home, so I called just to ask if they would let me pick up an order of it tomorrow (I was way too tired to get back in the car). They delivered it to me super fast instead, with extra chips. So kind! Thanks Jalepenos! read more

My wife: wanna get tacos? Me: Is the Pope, Catholic? My wife: wanna try somewhere besides Garcia's? Me: Blasphemy!! That was my thought when my wife suggested we try one of the other two Mexican restaurants in town. I'm glad we did. The environment was great and the food was delicious. Food: 1. The guacamole was fresh and flavorable. The avocados and spices weren't drowned in salt like so many other guacamole's. 2. The carne asada was seasoned well and was cooked with a little pink inside so the juiciness wasn't lost. 3. Tortillas were big!! 4. Beans and rice were your typical fare. 5. Depending on the bite, the pico had some SPICE to it. I loved getting the bites with the jalapeño. 6. The chips came with two salsas. The hot one actually had some extra spice to it, but really it was just more flavorful than the mild. It was very good. Environment: 1. Comfy chairs 2. Colorful paintings on the wall. 3. Screens for watching sports at lots of good angles. Service was mostly solid though a little hit and miss. For instance, my wife has knocked the fork off the table when we sat down and it took a while to get a replacement one. I think the only downside may be that they got my order wrong. I ordered carnitas and received carne asada. The carne asada was delicious (and I was hungry) so it didn't really matter. Now the debate: Garcia's or Jalapeño's?!? read more

My wife and I are for the lunch specials. They are very reasonably priced and each comes with tic and beans. But if you shop are Fred Meyer's you're Checkout Receipt may have a coupon for two for one lunch specials with two drinks. You can't beat that deal. The same friendly service and great tasting authentic Mexican food. Service is fast and friendly. Jalapeños serves the best Mexican food in Anchorage or Eagle River. Family operated and you may find one of the owners serving you. They have a full bar, generous portions, friendly and efficent staff, decor and atmosphere are excellent, families with children are welcome. read more

Always fast, always good. Hands down best Mexican Restaurant in Eagle River. It can get a little noisy when it's busy but not uncomfortable. Booths make it much cozier than tables. read more

Service and ambience are good. It's a new location which has been remodeled beautifully. The food is okay depending on what you order. The Burria Tacos are just okay, however, I FOUND A PIECE OF METAL IN MY Burria Taco MEAL TONIGHT. I brought it to the owners attention and he paid for my meal. He said the wire was from the metal brush that they clean the grill with. He apologized but I'm truly concerned I may have ingested a piece. I'm not sure if I should contact an attorney. Guess I'll see if I have to go to the doctor. Beware of what you order. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. DONT GO HERE. save yourself the money because this is the WORST "mexican" food ive EVER had. an actual disgrace to mexican cuisine. Im a chef myself and so is my boyfriend and we've been chefs for many years. (currently working at corks and hops) and wanted to try the new location. We make better mexican food ourselves at home and work. Every single thing we ordered had ZERO flavor we were shocked with how flavorless everything was. Only 2 salsa options, the "spicy" salsa tasted like mild. No spice. We got nachos as an appetizer... they came almost cold cheese was hard and they had no flavor. I ordered a Pineapple martini, and it was also the worst drink I've ever had. Straight juice and tasted NO ALCOHOL. not one bit of alcohol. My boyfriend got the tacos with chorizo /steak supposed to have onions & cilantro w it as well, they tasted like nothing. No seasoning and no onions or cilantro just dry a** pork with no flavor. they were also TINY he said he would need 15 of them to be full. A literal kids meal for $22. I got the birria tacos, and ive never been so livid. Also not hot, the cheese was so processed it was like gummy gelatin and once again all of it had NO FLAVOR!!!!!! I was so confused how the consommé and tacos both tasted like nothing just tortilla. WHERE IS TJE SEASONING???? WHERE IS THE AUTHENTIC FLAVOR??? NOT EVEN SALT. I couldnt even eat my tacos or the nachos they were so bad. Taco bell has more flavor then this place. I also got a side of rice... which tasted like it came from a premade box from the store. We left hungry and had to go somewhere else to get food after. SPENT $83!!!!!! for shi* we couldnt even eat. absolutely horrible. Also talked to the manager afterwards saying everything I just said and she seemed like she could care less. Said oh im sorry about that, would you guys like to try anything else? NO. like wheres our refund??? it was so bad we will never return and begging all of eagle river to never go there. Come to corks and hops if you want food that has actual flavor and worth the money. Never been so disappointed. read more

Great Mexican food. The owners are very friendly and take pride in their food and services.

Pretty good Mexican-American food, along with great appetizers and a great fried ice cream they make.

I'm going to be honest I heard good things and went to try it. I am from Texas and my Mexican cuisine is very picky. Right off the bat I thought the chips and salsa were not very good and I was starting to feel like I was about to have a bad experience. However, the food itself was fantastic. I got shrimp tacos and they were absolutely perfect. I was so hyped about the food that I ate half my friends food that he did not finish and then ordered the large plate of sopapillas. Our waitress was excellent and the atmosphere is significantly better than the other Mexican restaurants in Eagle River. read more

Fast and reliable and honest. Did a great job and came out the same day! I have two doors and both were up and smoothly working!

After several years living in Eagle River I can't believe this is the first time I've tried this place. Chepo's has always been our "go to" but the last several times we've gone there, they just keep getting worse. We needed a new Mexican favorite in town. Obviously with the restrictions right now we did not get the dining experience but I will definitely be going back to try that out. We ordered to go food and I wanted to try multiple things to give a fair rating. I'm usually a one dish type of girl but this time I changed it up. Here's the breakdown...taquito and flauta were both very good. The rice and beans were very good. The enchilada was good. The tamale was not good. It had a smoky flavor that wasn't my favorite but that's just my preference. My husband had the burrito asada and he said it was good, the green sauce is better at Chepo's. They even included chips and salsa and I loved that! The mild salsa is tasty, the hot salsa wasn't hot and I didn't like the flavor, but again...preference. I was actually impressed with it overall and I am excited to go back and try dining in once things open up! read more

So good. Hard to not over order for sure. Too many favorites to list. I love their black beans and substitute for refried every time. You need to ask if you are plant based or vegan, or if you have allergies, but generally there are several accommodations to choose from. They would likely serve you 10 pounds of chips if you don't stop them. I tell them ahead of time one round of chips but lots of salsa. Their salsa and pico are extremely tasty! read more

Finally made it here after some good reviews and recommendations and it was good . My only complaint is the price... a little high, however the service was quick and friendly and the portions was adequate. I'll come back for sure. read more

We ordered for delivery. I have to say, all the people saying go to Taco Bell on this restaurants reviews either are insane or do not truly know authentic Mexican food. I feel like it's a direct slam to this restaurant itself from it's competition. The beans were fresh, the Spanish rice was fresh and tasty. My husband's carne burrito was fat. My tacos were full of fresh, tender meat. This place is excellent. My advice is to keep the cook you have right now at this moment, keep consistent and realize the negative reviews for this place are just a slam for no apparent reason. Taco bell..are you kidding me people? Get a clue! read more

The food is delicious and the employees are all very nice. Place is very clean and we always enjoy eating out at this yummy restaurant.

First time here. It was recommended by the clerk at Fred Meyers. Always good to have a local suggest an eatery. Food was good. I had enchiladas. Fresh and tasty. Great service, polite and professional. Very nice decor and Mexican music. We'll be back. Lots of yummy stuff in the menu that needs tasting! read more

alright so this place is total A S S. I wanted to try a different Mexican place as I always eat at Garcia's (they have 5 out of 5 street tacos and great margaritas - just pricy) I heard Jalapeno's had military discount. So I said yea cheap Mexican why not. Nah man not even worth it. I should've went to Taco Bell bro on me I would've killed some cheap bean burritos. Yo I got the "Regina Taco" which is suppose to be a famous item. Straight dog ass lol. 5% meat 95% lettuce and the meat had N O F L A V O R. Please avoid this place lol. Eagle River food sucks in general BUT Garcia's has amazing street tacos. Alright peace. read more

Delicious fresh food with quick friendly service. Taquitos were great and my husband loved the carnitas burrito. We came in on the spur of the moment and we will be back. read more

Just completed an online takeout order. I added a few extra notes requesting things like lettuce and tomato, and chicken on our tacos & quesadilla. Neither of the requests were honored. Apparently they cost a little extra, so on a $127 order they left off the requested items. When I called to ask about this the gentleman who answered the phone said that he read the items but instead just didn't do anything about it. His quote was "well I ahhhh......" then a long uncomfortable silence. He had my number and my email, but chose to do nothing. I like this restaurant, and the service is usually good, but if a repeat customer isn't worth an extra $5 (at the most) in lettuce, tomato, and shredded chicken then I guess they do not want repeat business. read more

Not as good as I remember under the previous Mexican restaurant at that location several years ago, but it is ok. Watch out for the hot salsa. It bites the next day. read more

The pros: the decor and ambiance is very nice and authentic Mexican! The food is quite good and the wait staff very friendly. The menu is great with plenty of authentic Mexican food and beverage choices with a full bar. The cons: Somewhere between the kitchen and the table there seems to be a breakdown. By the time food gets out it's cold or luke warm by the time it makes it to the table. I could let it go if it was only once but last week the same problem. The order took forever and then it was cold. Coagulated cheese in an Enchilada or Chili Relleno is not that great. (And why have a cheese enchilada and chili relleno in the same combo? Too much cheese!) not just at Jalapeños, most mexican restaurants offer the same combination. All that said, Jalapeños is still on my list of places I like to eat but given the other Mexican choices in Eagle River Jalapeños is my last resort. This place used to be great but it's suffering now. I hope they can get their act together again and return to being a great little Mexican restaurant. read more

I recently had a celebration dinner here for about 25 people. The Jalapeños staff was super professional, welcoming, and accommodating. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun! There was no rental fee for using the space next to the bar and we were able to order off the regular menu. I highly recommend Jalapeños for any event you might need a space for. Other restaurants we called wanted anywhere from $1500 to $2500 for the space and food. Our final bill was $600. read more

Excellent service, yummy hot food, flexible to prepare how you like it. We had burritos and chicken flautas. We added Ranchito sauce and sliced avocados to the carnitas burrito and it was so yummy and meat was very tender and not fatty at all. My son rated the bean and cheese burrito as 8 out of 10, and we are from San Diego where Mexican food is plentiful. Chicken flautas had white meat chicken and my other son rated them a 9 out of 10. Place was clean and comfortable. Great stop on the way to Wasilla, AK at 10pm. I definitely recommend! read more

A good place for standard TexMex food. The waitress was very personable and pleasant. The decor is fun and bright.

My family and I headed to Jalapenos after my brother and I finished the Eagle River Triathlon. I immediately went for the Beer-garita, which tasted delicious. The mini coronas that they prop up in the glass are so cute! The service at the restaurant was incredible! I feel like the average restaurant service in Alaska is pretty terrible so it was nice to have a server who always had our drinks filled and our chips and salsa full on the table, despite the place being pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered the chicken fajitas and I thought they were quite tasty. It was a huge order and I was only able to eat two fajitas, but I took the rest to go and my boyfriend ate them for lunch the next day and said they were good even reheated. read more
