I walk by it all the time going into work, but because I have a favorite place, I never tried it until now. The environment quite nice. I was there early Sunday morning. It was quiet. I got a good seat so that I can work on some school stuff. The latte was yummy. Tastes great! The server was polite. It's comparable to my favorite Caffe Nero on Newbury st. Caffe Nero is more quiet and Jaho is a little louder, meant more for socializing. read more

I'll break my two-year Yelp hiatus for this place in the hood that opened about a week ago. Atmosphere-wise, it's a very nice space with a great coffee shop vibe, as well as a pretty awesome music selection while I was there. Service was perfectly friendly and eager to answer the questions I had about the roaster and the shop. Coffee is clearly their strength. It's of the "third wave" variety, and they offer the standard espresso-based drinks as well as single cup brews, siphon, chemex, etc. It will probably suit the needs of any coffee drinker, from the enthusiast to the more casual drinker. My guess is that the "frosticcino" on the menu is an attempt at mass appeal, but my advice would be to stick to what they appear to focus on. There were also at least a dozen teas available. While not quite up there with some of the other roasters I've come to know and love (Stumptown, Blue Bottle, Counter Culture), if you know what I'm talking about and you like coffee, you will likely also appreciate the addition to the neighborhood. I haven't had any food, and it might be a struggle to get me away from Flour's sandwiches when it's 100 feet away. A few words on prices: this is not Dunkin Donuts. Good coffee costs money. I'd compare Jaho to the Thinking Cup by the Common, or any one of a few dozen places in New York that try for a similar approach. read more

Nice place to work or read a book while enjoying coffee and snacks. The large coffee was REALLY LARGE, and excellent. My drip coffee was $2.41, but they had more expensive pour-over fancy-bean options. They have free wifi and outlets, and don't seem to mind people parking themselves on the couch for a few hours. read more

Great service and great coffee! I actually prefer the pumpkin spiced latte here than at Starbucks - it has better pumpkin flavor. You really can't go wrong with any of their drinks. They also have a nice selection of baked goods, but I've never tried them. read more

I'm obsessed with this place. So far I've only been there for coffee and breakfast. But it is outstanding. The folks who work there are also VERY pleasant. The atmosphere is lovely for studying, meeting up with friends for a chat, or casual business meetings. The lattes btw are HUGE! The treats there are tasty. I'd love to drop in for wine one day. The hipster trendiness hasn't reached this place yet. You walk in and believe it or not, it's just a straight-up average place to have a cup of coffee. My iced coffee was fine but a little bitter, but my chair was very comfy and there is unlimited free wifi so... I was happy. They need some bike parking outside, though!! read more

Espresso beverages are definitely their specialty. The space is quite hip and used by a lot of students in the area to study and hang out. Very fun to bring friends to or spend a rainy afternoon at. Sometimes a bit too crowded -- but, overall, excellent place. Their iced coffee is good, but not excellent. Like an upscale Panera with better, and a greater variety, of food, Jaho is a warm, friendly, and homey establishment with plenty of open tables, open windows, reading materials, comfy chairs, and, of course, free wi-fi. Their sandwiches are excellent and the Green Tea Bubble Tea (~$5) is my personal favorite. Their convenient and scenic location, a block off of Mass Ave the South End, is perfect for Sunday afternoons or rainy days working from home. So glad I found their South End location. The Salem Jaho has always been a favorite when I'm in the North Shore but now I can get my daily cappuccino just a short walk from work. The Chicken Salad sandwich is stellar and the staff is super nice! read more

Cozy little place to hang out with a friend or get some work done, although it isn't particularly well lit if you're reading from a textbook or something of the sort. The coffee is definitely above average, service is usually on point, and if you're hungry, they have a decent menu as well as some good looking snacks and pastries. The coffee is good here. I like their brewed coffee. I did not like their pumpkin spice latte but it was just too sweet for me. The space is great, spacious, good location for me and free WIFI. The only problem I have is the price. Its very pricey and I don't feel like their coffee drinks are really top notch for the price. Their pastries and cakes never look that appealing to me personally but that may be due to the fact that Flour is a couple doors down. They do a decent cup of coffee and its a great place to do work. Just beware their specialty drinks and food can get very pricey and I am not sure worth the price. read more

I work next door and I have to say the coffee shop is a great addition to the neighborhood. The coffee is where this place really shines (as it should). I've tried the syphon coffee, their lattes and their regularly brewed coffee, all of which are rich without being bitter. This is always my stop for coffee while at work. It can be a while sometimes for your latte to come out, so if you're hugely impatient you might want to try somewhere else. read more

Disclaimer: I'm visiting from out of town, so I haven't been to many coffee shops in Boston. A super friendly staff member lightly suggested an iced latte, and out of whim I agreed. I'm normally a Peets Spiced Pumpkin Latte kind of person, and so I didn't expect the iced latte to taste that great without syrup. I was so, so wrong. This was probably the best decaf iced latte I've had from any streetside cafe outside of San Francisco, and the atmosphere and lighting was so pleasant for a cloudy Saturday morning! The vanilla chai is delish, but the lady making it moved like a turtle! The atmosphere is very cute and laid back. I didn't eat anything, but they did have a wide variety of sandwiches and pastries. I would definitely go back if I were in the neighborhood. read more

Apparently this place opened five weeks ago! It's clean and modern inside with both big communal tables and smaller ones too. The vibe seemed to be mostly college kids with some people studying. I'm only rating on the wine and the meltaway come- both were great. Overall a great spot! I would come here all the time if I lived in the area. read more

Nitro cold cold brew should not be served over ice. It ruins the cascading bubble effect.

The baklava was overly sweet, I think too much honey was used which led to a one note flavor. The iced green tea was so-so. It can be a good place to get some work done if you need to get out for a bit as there is free wifi. read more

The coffee and sandwiches are great. I encountered a little problem with their not having standard Jack Daniels one night but what they did have (Cinnamon Fire) worked just as well. Lovely room off the side with a fireplace to enjoy an evening discussion. Highly recommend their croissants! read more

I really like this place. The food is very fresh, salads are very yummy-especially the summer salad with the fresh mozzarella! The caprese sandwich is also delish and the bread is really good too. My new fave is the frozen java chip coffee drink. I crave them! They are a bit pricey though-which is the reason they lost a star. read more

Coffee is great. If you get an iced coffee they serve it with crushed ice, which is a nice change of pace from your average coffee shop. Don't buy lunch here, though. It is insanely expensive for the amount of food they serve. You are better off walking down the street to Flower if you want to have a reasonably priced and reasonably portioned meal. read more

Please work on speeding up your service Jaho!! It is literally ridiculous how long it takes to get an english muffin or bagel. It's as if they have to go to the grocery after I place the order. When you go to a coffee shop, you want your order fast and to get out the door. If you don't know already, Matcha green tea is a powder form of green tea mixed directly into the hot water. It is packed with antioxidants and has many other health benefits. I asked for a matcha green tea . I was given a super sweet milky latte drink with a green hue to it. It was so sweet I asked if she added sugar to it . She assured me it was just the matcha powder and they steam it In milk there. I repeated "are you sure there's no sugar in this? " she assured me. She said matcha is sweet. The matcha I've had in the past was not nearly this sweet but I thought maybe there were different kinds . After taking a few more sips I asked to see there tea. They brought out the bag and sure enough there was sugar in it, and corn syrup, and many other weird artificial ingredients . There was 25g of sugar per serving. It's negligent for this to be going on when people ask for a matcha tea. Bad business . Stay away. There are better cafes in the area with better service and communication . read more

Cute place, but some of the drinks leave much to be desired. Smoothies aren't very smooth (more like slushy drinks from a convenience store) and the frozen hot chocolate tastes more like sugary ice than chocolate. Stick to basic coffee and teas and get specialty drinks elsewhere. Internet doesn't always work. read more

Excellent coffee and selection (nice to be able to get a Flat White in the neighborhood!) and a cool space. Service has been very good each time I've been. Nice addition to the neighborhood - this is the place for coffee and tea, with some good food. Flour, the Buttery, etc are the inverse - great food with fine coffee (and lines!). The quality is high, but so are prices. $4 tea is a great special occasion but probably can't be a habit for most. Hopefully the prices can come down a bit - they're certainly not terrible but seem a bit off to me. read more

I actually found Jaho one afternoon when I decided that I didn't want to wait in line at Flour. I walked a bit further down the block and said, "Hey, this looks like a cool place," and it was! They have a great selection of coffee, tea, and espresso on their menu, which is especially great if you're into different varieties. I've been back with coworkers or friends many times since, and everyone is always happy with their food. It's a cool place with cool people running it, and I enjoy it. read more

Great place to hang out and do some work or studying or talking with friends. I usually go with an Americano, which is solid, but if I have some time a really nice treat is getting a pot of tea and enjoying a good book at the shop. They have a really nice selection of tea, which I have only started to explore. I also tried a smoothie once, but it was really sweet, too much for my taste. The place has become cuter since they've upgraded the furniture and general design of the place. I love their kombucha! I think this is the only cafe in the south end that serves it, so I'm a fan. My favorite barista is Raul. His smile warms up the entire place. read more

I discovered Jaho a few weeks after it opened and I'm hooked. Now, it is my go-to spot for when a client wants to meet in the South End. I arrive early, nestle myself in and take advantage of the wifi with a delicious mocha before the client arrives. The barristas are all friendly and happy, which just makes it that much more inviting! read more
