I needed to used the restroom and come back , and still took a while for anyone to said anything. Then when i did they said the patio was close. I mention the couple still outside said they just closed 15 min. I waited at least 10. I mention i had a dog and because of COVID i thought everything outside. She Didn't say anything. Anywhere in the bay area everything outdoors. I even asked if i can to- order and sit outside. She then said, " I need to ask my manager". Why ‍. The waitress Doesn't have to go outside, safer from COVID ! She left and never came back with the manger. So i left. When i was waiting for the manger. i notice white lady being served quicker than me. It some like i was unwanted guest. I touring Eureka from the first time. I driving and stopped at place and beaches. I didn't look perfect but not that bad for dinning outdoors. I don't pop my phone out and record when i see a problem. I am old school. Happened by this place and although it was sparse of patrons for lunch they seemed to be on top of their game. Service was professional and attentive and ordering was smooth. I tried an order of BBQ oysters and a cup of the apparently famous clam chowder (New England style) to start. I have to say that the chowder was quite good, thick and creamy with lots of taste. There were chunks of carrots which was a nice touch. I went on to have a fish sandwich that was simply delicious. The fish (cod) was very fresh, not overcooked. The toasted bread was perfect, thick slices. The dressing was just right. The large fries were good, and probably the only so-so part of the meal. Sorry Jack - seared Ahi was pre done and put on the fridge practically raw. When we pointed that out they cooked it all the way and brought it back. Needless to say we asked for calamari instead. That was dipped in flour, fried, and dusted with seasoning salt- very chalky and not crispy at all. Great friendly service and food came out fast. We ate here twice and they were great handling my sons peanut and egg allergy. The wait staff was really friendly. They have a nice deck outside where you can watch the seals and otters. The seafood is decent, not awesome but not bad. We had the seafood Alfredo, linguini and clams, Loui Salad, and crab cakes on our visits. I think some people complained about the price, it's understandable given the location. Visited Jack's for the first time in December and was REALLY surprised with how delicious it was! I ordered 6 oysters on the half shell, and they were perfect! Served with a Ponzu sauce and green onions.. bomb. Hubs had Fish n' Chips and it was seriously the best we BOTH have ever had. We find ourselves comparing other places fish n' chips to theirs. My husbands halibut ended up being about 3oz. The rice pilaf was definitely from the day before, very dry and tasteless. Been here multiple time's now and haven't had a single bad item. I've had the shrimp po boy which was awesome, super flavorful. I recently had the pork tacos and there exactly the way I like, super crispy. The staff is always super friendly and tentative. Never a dry glass on the table. I for sure would recommend. If I could them zero stars I would... not only was the service terrible, but the food I was served and paid a premium for was disgusting.. I ordered the Cioppino and it came served with "toasted sourdough" that was not only not toasted at all, but was just set in the bowl with the broth making it soggy and disgusting... Move on now to the actual Cioppino ..... the scallop in the dish was clearly just thrown in in the broth raw with no care to probably dear or handle... this dish lacks the crab found in any proper Cioppino and worst of all there were multiple muscles that not only were unopened in the bowl, but were still connected together with the fibers muscles use to attach themselves to rocks.. when I brought this to the attention of my server she had not a single care, no offer to correct the problem or even slightly discount the over priced mess thrown in an ugly clear glass baking dish... I will never step foot in this dumb again, and I'm shocked they haven't made someone very sick.. the health department should shut them down! read more

Horrible experience. I truly believe my mother and I had food poisoning. We both had horrible stomach pains afterwards. My mother threw up before bed and I had hot and cold sweats and then threw up vile in the morning. My brother and son whom are different foods were fine but it made us horribly sick. We went to three different seafood restaurants and at Jack's they were by far the most accommodating, helpful and amazing! The other two had no available seating and shut the kitchen as we arrived. Jacks let us order right away and brought us out food as soon as a table opened up. We were very impressed with their quality service and excellent food! We were looking for a seafood place near or on the water and found Jacks. Service was good and the place was clean and in a nice location. Nice views of the wharf. I had the tomato mussels. They were good. The broth took over the flavor of the mussels themselves. The bread was supposed to be toasted, it was barely toasted. My hubby had the fish and chips. Very good! What a Great Dinner!!! The presentation of the shrimp cocktail was unique and utterly delicious! All of the dishes had a special touch( the baguette slices on the edge of the soup bowl were held in place by garlic butter on the rim- great idea!!) We were looking for a seafood restaurant with a bar open during Covid. Out of all the other 15 seafood restaurants in the area, this was the only one really open and serving. They were really being careful about social distancing and taking all COVID precautions, so it felt very comfortable. Also it was the first night of the World Series and they don't have a tv, so business was sparse. Our server was super friendly and attentive. HH and I both enjoyed a cup of clam chowder and the calamari steak. It was more like sliced calamari fingers. Regardless, it was tender and juicy - cooked perfectly and served with a tangy remoulade sauce. The chowder was really good and was full of veggie pieces -- potato, carrots, etc. The clams tasted really fresh. Definitely homemade chowder. YUM. And they served it with two small slices of sourdough from a local bakery with a dab of a seasoned garlic butter. Also YUM. The spicy coleslaw was delicious. We stopped here in hopes for a nice dinner. The restaurant is on the water and has outdoor seating to add to a better view. While the restaurant did not seem all that busy for dinner, the serving staff definitely seemed overwhelmed and unable to keep up. The food was good and the seafood seemed fresh. My husband got the blackened fish and I got a seafood type soup. Both were good and the clam chowder was great.
