Horrible experience. Hot cakes and a hot mess! Walked in with my 89 year-old mom. Was told to take a seat on the bar side but we preferred sitting on the other side by the windows because it was sunny and my mom wanted the sunlight on her. The ONLY server motioned for my mom to get up from the table because the "section" was closed. There was no indication that the section was closed when we sat ourselves. I wasn't having my elderly mom get up. The owner (Jackie herself) came over and rudely huffed and puffed asked us to move 12 feet to the other section. We left. On the way out I remarked "your server couldn't just walk an extra ten steps?" She had no words except to storm away nearly plowing over my mom. Not accommodating the elderly is disrespectful. Having one server on a Sunday morning is a service failure that your customers should never have to pay for with rudeness and disrespect. Her business has not been doing well for a decade and it's evident in the upkeep of her establishment. There is a musty smell in her carpet, and as a staunch advocate for women's businesses my entire 30+ career helping build hundreds of women owned businesses with my marketing services, she should consider hiring proper staff and making over the dilapidated interior and exterior and treating people kindly. This is not a business for people who operate on rage, nerves and anger. At this point she's only keeping the business open for income and not to properly serve her community. As a Litchfield resident for 20+ years we deserve better than this mess. I suggest people read how they insulted customers in the other post 3 days ago-- calling them "karens." The next time Jackie tries to mow over a customer (my mom) by huffing and puffing and storming away carelessly, she'll likely have to deal with an assault charge. Try Arethusa A Mano, Patty's, or Toast & Co for great service and quality. Avoid Jackie at all costs. read more

Jackie's is a small, privately owned restaurant that needs help. It is one of several small businesses in Bantam that is near the end of a major thoroughfare now blocked because of construction. There are signs letting motorists know that the restaurant and other businesses in the affected area are open, but not many have visited them. And according to the owner, Jackie's has been majorly affected with the number of weekly customers way down. And that's likely to continue until construction ends, hopefully by the end of August. So we're doing a short update to remind everyone in the vicinity that unpretentious Jackie's is indeed open and worth stopping by to dine. We've been doing that for around six years now, meeting regularly for breakfast with a small group of folks. Here's the skinny: Jackie's is open for breakfast and an early lunch (except Wednesdays). They are cash only, but there's an ATM inside. The menu is pretty standard breakfast/lunch items, but it's all prepared freshly and is pretty darned good. We visited Jackie's this morning. My husband is very hard of hearing and did not hear what ensued. The benches were wet having just been washed, so we looked around for a dry bench. 2 waitresses and 1 customer talked among themselves, calling us "Karens" and Goldilocks". Rather than make an issue by leaving, I stayed-my mistake. I explained that I had bacon allergies that were sensitive even to griddle cooked food. The waitress said I was in the "wrong place". I said I would remember that. She made another snarky remark. I deceided to stay rather than make a scene. The coffee was too weak and the muffin was stale. My husband's food was at best OK. I chose not to tip. She commented rather loudly about my not tipping her. The atmosphere is shabby and could certainly use a paint job. read more

This is the less well-known restaurant in town. It is a very good choice for breakfast. I just had a chorizo sausage skillet. That was delicious. My wife had Oreos stuffed French toast. Needless to say, she cleaned the plate. Very reasonably priced. Friendly service, really had an old-fashioned feel to it. Bring cash. read more

Jackie's is a "hole in the wall" type place tucked under an antique shop. It has a counter area, and a larger dining area with tables. There is a round table, for anyone with childish whimsy enough to channel their inner King Arthur. I was voted down in that endeavor for a square table. Anyway, the wait staff was pretty attentive without being intrusive. Once they food came, they kept an eye on things from the register in the middle in case drinks needed to be refilled or anything looked lacking. They keep Pepsi on tap and Cokes are hit or miss in the cooler, if you take note of that sort of thing. The food itself was pretty good, although the knife cuts on my Baked Potato skilled could have used a little more consistency. They are cash only, so make sure to stop at the ATM first. read more

Ok, here's the deal. When breakfast is your favorite meal of the day (hands down), you haven't eaten breakfast yet, and it's noon on a Saturday, you aren't going to want lunch, so your yelp search is probably going to consist of the term "breakfast". And you're certainly not going to want to mess your choice up, right?? I messed up huge! They were accommodating, and really nice, but I'm pretty sure that when people are hungry, they don't base their decisions on how accommodating a place is, or how nice the staff is. Don't get me wrong, that's important; but for me, I'd rather have the most amazing breakfast, and a cranky waitress. You can make up for the cranky waitress - once the food is bad, that's it, you're done. Their food wasn't TERRIBLE, it just wasn't tasteful. My sister and I both had skillets, and the kids had egg meals. I can't speak for the kids because I think they were just excited about eating out. Maybe you will think differently? read more

This is my favorite place to eat breakfast! I love their many styles of eggs Benedict, their skillets are awesome, and my kids love the good old fashioned Mickey Mouse pancakes! The interior is a bit dated along with random pictures and signs scotch taped to a post behind the register. Our waitress was nice, but you could hear the wait staff talking near the front about tips and work related stuff, which we found very unprofessional. The food wasn't bad, but is wasn't good either. Oh and if you go there past 11:30 and want some breakfast, they will charge you ¢50. I found this utterly ridiculous! We won't be going back to Jackie's unless there are major changes. read more

Came here the morning after a pineapple martini bender at Ditto. It was a Sunday morning and we were one of 3 tables. Awesome. Needless to say service was superfast.. it better be.. right? haha I had a chili omelette with rye toast and homefries. It was all good but the homefries.. This is place I go when I want good food and to just relax. Seriously love the people here, and the food never disappoints. Their breakfast is delicious, and the breakfast specials are so good it's hard to just pick one. I love going here when I'm in a rush, as I can always count on my food arriving promptly so I can eat and be on my way. Very family friendly. They only accept cash, but have an ATM available for those that need it. read more

Sure, the food is all right and the location is convenient, but every time I have been there I have gotten AWFUL customer service. The waitresses are all gossipy and into each other, chit chatting instead of tending to their tables, or else flirting with the regulars (mostly workmen, I gather) who sit at the counter. Plus, the muffins they serve for breakfast are not fresh, just taken out of a giant freezer and defrosted before they toast and serve them. I've seen the owner a few times, and he has been very unapproachable and unfriendly. Once I was here eating and he came in with his huge, obnoxious family and breezed through the entrance, sat everyone at a table and began barking orders at the waitress who flocked to him. Didn't do any work, didn't socialize with the patrons, didn't manage his staff well (looks like they are all terrified of him, the vibe changed instantly when he walked in), and in my opinion, not a great atmosphere to create as a manager or a small business owner in a small town, for that matter. I'll go elsewhere for breakfast and lunch, where I get treated right, and so do the people who work there. read more

Well-done pancakes - just the way I like them. Great egg dishes, really good home fries, strong coffee, super friendly waitress. I suppose we all have our political opinions and customers do in fact vent, but I don't expect the staff to join into the hysteria. Just had breakfast there. Ordered the "Jackie's Whopper" which consisted of eggs, two French toast, bacon, and hash browns. It was $8.95 and the portions were ridiculously small. There was one scrambled egg, two small strips of undercooked bacon, and two small white bread pieces of French toast. We could literally count the potatoes of our "hash browns" on the plate. We also ordered the eggs Benedict and the hash browns were the same, disappointingly small portion for $8.50. We had our small daughter with us, who will usually share off our plate. After allocating some of our food to her, we barely had a meal left for ourselves. Our total bill was $25 for breakfast!! Absolutely ridiculous, never going back. read more
