This was a super cute breakfast/lunch place that popped up during our visit in CT. The food was delicious; the service was great and the restaurant had such a comfy/cozy atmosphere. Just a little FYI if you plan on eating here : They only take cash or check when paying.

This was my first time at Split Rail. It's a cute little house so it can easy be missed even though it's off a main road and located in a plaza. The inside is small but very cute. It was was cold in there when we went so we kept our coats on. But there was cute knit knacks around the restaurant. The menu isn't that big but does have a variety of breakfast items such as breakfast sandwiches and omelettes, Benedict's, To sandwiches, burgers , soups and salads. They do have GF bread and take it seriously. They will wipe down the area to Make sure there's no cross contamination. Others that sat on my table orders sandwiches and they were very big , the salad looked colorful, fresh. I ordered a GF BLT and it was good. Came with coleslaw, chips and pickle but I cant get over the fact that I can count how many slices of pickles I got and chips. There was barely any. not even a handful. I don't know why but all of the dishes were like that. That's the only downfall. Maybe serve a baby pickle or some actual slices. Perhaps more chips ?!! But overall food was good, service was great . Nice atmosphere. Very friendly. It's only CASH. Or personal check!! No cards!! Since it's in a plaza there is parking !

Excellent food. Especially when it's Lobster Night. Conveniently located. A little small but packs a punch.

It was overpriced and very slow to even produce a menu let alone food. Plates took over an hour to arrive.

Everything was very clean. Parking was a bit of a struggle - there was street parking above, below, and across, and a huge lot in the back. Supposedly there's a backdoor from the lower lot - those who tried found it to be locked. The food was delicious - my local burger was cooked medium, and the fries were little circles! They were well cooked but some had much more salt then others

The menu looked pretty good so we started with some apps. Beer cheese- definitely a different twist than I expected but it was great. Very flavorful, really beer forward. The bruschetta was ridiculously amazing!! The cucumber salsa was missing something but ok, needed some acid or heat. My disappointment started when they brought out our meal, (we still had two apps to go, I hate my meal coming out with or before the rest of our apps. I had the hot honey chicken and NE Clam chowder. The chowder was brown and was not what I was looking for, I packaged up to go. It was primarily the brown I assume the roux went farther than it should have or there is something else in it.. The hot honey chicken was ok, the chicken was paper thin , tasted mostly arugula no heat, no sweet... I'd switch out the bread for a roll next time and douse it with hot sauce. The cottage fries are out of this world and I would come back for beverages and those!! My partner had the biria sandwich which was fire, also had a salad which was really good as well. The cookies are really amazing! Actual Dessert- I am struggling with we opted for the Chocolate cake which was literally melting- did not think it was ice cream so not sure why we had a puddle in a box when we got home. I want to try other things, as we had some good and some not so good, so we'll be back and update again after another try.

GPS was not my friend on this trip and the signage was a little hard to see, but we found it after only driving past it once. The hostess stand and dining area are just to the left, through a doorway when you enter the building. Reservations are suggested and after visiting today, I can understand why. Even with a reservation, we were seated by the bar/party room. Unfortunately, it made hearing my mother-in-law almost impossible to hear. Besides the loud music and even louder chatter from the attendees at the baby shower, we were constantly interrupted by the partygoers. I had to move for people going through the doorway, making room for large gifts and a woman's walker. At one point, we were even by a family of party guests to take a picture standing by the doorway and a decorative tree. The group grew and I had to leave the table to make room. So, why 4 stars? The staff were amazing and the food was even better. The ladies at the hostess stand were pleasant and our waiter was very friendly. My Tipsy Leprechaun Martini was brought by another cordial server. Our drinks were brought quickly, orders were taken, and our meals were delivered quickly. I ordered the Oscar Benedict with crabmeat and asparagus served over polenta with a side of homefries. My mother-in-law chose the Classic Benedict also with the homefries. We were both impressed with the presentation of the meals, the portion size and the seasoning of the homefries. The crabmeat ratio to the portion size was perfect. The eggs were made correctly and the sauce was bright and not too heavy. I would definitely give the Brunch House a second chance, but maybe ask for a better seat.

The menu hit all the right notes. I had the chicken honey mustard panini and it was delicious, plus bonus points for real side options (yes to the onion rings). My wife went with an omelet and potatoes and was more than satisfied. The vibe was warm, homey, with a couple of fireplaces going... perfect on a chilly, overcast day. And a shout-out to Dana, our attentive server, who kept things moving without ever feeling rushed. The kind of place you're happy to linger in.

The food was very good, priced right, and proper portions. We shared the mild buffalo wings, extra crispy. The sauce was good and wings cooked well. The bleu cheese dip did not seem to be homemade but it did the job. My wife had a French onion soup which was very good, and the tots-chos. The tots were crispy and smothered in what we believe was a homemade cheese sauce, olives, jalapeños, pickled red onions, and fire roasted corn. It came with salsa, which in our opinion wasn't really needed. Sour cream may have been better but they were fine as is. I had the Tex-mex wrap with fire roasted corn which came with sidewinder fries. Everything was well seasoned and we brought home plenty of leftovers. The beer list was smaller but had a good selection of local crafts and some more well known brands. Our server, Jules, was very nice, attentive, and made good recommendations. Overall, would definitely come back for a low key dinner or to watch the game.
