Mac & Cheese with Chicken

Tried the burger and mac & cheese with chicken -- and both delivered. The burger tasted amazing. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. The mac & cheese with chicken paired really well together. Creamy, cheesy, and hearty without being too heavy.

The Tavern is inside the Heritage Hotel. We were staying there for a staycation close to home. We were thoroughly impressed with the food and amazing happy hour special that runs from 5-6;30 pm. For $35, choose any appetizer, entree and dessert, 50 percent off drinks. WOW! The serving sizes were huge and the food was cooked perfectly. I had the fried calamari appetizer, ribeye steak dinner and cheesecake dessert. My husband just got the ribeye sandwich. We shared the appetizer and dessert and could not finish our dinners. We will definitely be back. There was also live music, which we enjoyed that started right before 7 pm.

Tips: I would not normally choose to spend $18 on burger and fries with Leo's ($12) minutes away, but when staying at the Heritage Hotel and feeling lazy and craving quiet, the hotel restaurant (Tavern) is a viable option. However at $10 for the same on Tuesdays, including a bottle of beer... that's a deal I'd consider returning for! That said, keep in mind that the kitchen closes at 9:30 PM. The Tavern is a good destination to gather to access a few local beers on tap, and sip in a quiet, no-rush setting. Periodic events are scheduled at the Tavern, including live music with no cover charge! Experience: Fiya, the server, was super friendly and introduced me to a local beer on tap (Ice Cream Man IPA, Bloomfield, CT), offering tiny cups of the two options I had been debating.

Good food and drink location. Very busy some nights and dead others. Prices are very fair. Easy to get to and plenty of parking.

Loud drunken crass crowd at the bar. Ordered food then asked for it to go. Not a good look for Southbury. I won't return to this place.

Woodbury Brewing Company is a craft brewpub that opened in Woodbury, Connecticut in December 2017…read more It was founded by friends and business partners Allan Cetrone, Tim Budrewicz, T.J. D'Alexander and Ken Mair. After he found his previous employer's ethical standards unconscionable, Cetrone decided to quit and find a new line of work. He and his friends frequently got together at a backyard barn man-cave which was complete with a fridge and kegerator. Cetrone had also been experimenting with his own homebrewed beers. Once their man cave became a popular spot for family gatherings, the four friends decided to open their own brewery. The taproom has a rustic saloon aesthetic (a nod to the friends' backyard barn man-cave) complete with a stage for live musical acts to perform. In addition to the housemade beer, WBC also serves wine, cider, craft cocktails, and a large menu of delicious food from their in-house kitchen. I recently visited Woodbury Brewing Company for the first time. I had heard that they host a lot of live music acts and I purchased a ticket to see Hudson Valley-based Rush tribute band "Limelight". I'm a HUGE Rush fan, so I was really excited to see the group perform. I arrived over an hour before the show started. I had a reserved table right by the stage. There was a modest crowd when I first arrived, but the whole taproom was packed by the time the show started. After looking over the menu, I decided to order the "Nashville Hot GIANT Chicken Sandwich" (hot honey, cajun spice, pickles, mayo) with "Sweet Potato Fries" as well as an order of "Cheese Curds" (served w/ house-made marinara). I was totally shocked when the food finally came to the table. When they say "giant chicken sandwiches", they mean GIANT! I could barely fit the sandwich into my mouth, but it was so delicious! The sweet potato fries were equally big and delicious, and the cheese curds were really good too! Throughout my visit, I enjoyed pours of "Yummy Beers" (Double New England IPA), "Collusion" (New England IPA), and "Barrel-Aged Don't Go Romanov" (Barrel-Aged Russian Imperial Stout). They were all surprisingly good! Limelight also gave an excellent performance to the very energetic crowd. Overall, I had quite an enjoyable evening and I'll definitely be back! I already have a ticket to another show!

What an awesome time we had at Black Hog !…read more The place is very big with lots of seating options inside and outside. The Caseus Cheese Truck was up front and what goes better than a cold beer and a hot melty grilled cheese? They had a lot of beers on tap, plus plenty of six pack can choices https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/black-hog-brewing-oxford?select=RGCK9MqCPn8MCHgeNHtcyg , and of course growlers to buy or fill. The staff was super friendly, and I loved the chill vibe all over the place. They were pretty busy yesterday, being the first really nice day of the year combined with their ''Fifth Annual Saison Day''. Black Hog offered up their own Saisons plus quite a bit of guest choices from Allagash, Two Roads, Kent Falls, and New England Brewing. I enjoyed a nice glass of Black Hog's Barrel Aged Biere De Hog (Red Wine Barrel Aged, ever so lightly soured with a yogurt lacto culture. Bright, sweet, and complex. Bottle and keg conditioned -8% ABV). It was very drinkable with a definite sweet overtone. I also picked up a six pack of their Coffee Milk Stout for ten bucks. For draft variety, can variety, customer service, sweet vibe, comfortable seating options. and just about anything you look for at a brewery, you will find it here. Five stars easy

Once again, a good evening at Black Hog enjoying beers and trivia. Staff are always super nice…read more 900 degree pizza truck.

My wife and I were at a distillery in Roxbury. We live in Danbury. I was looking for a quality food…read morespot in between and newtown came to mind. So, knowing that Sugo existed, I immediately routed us to their location, as this is a place that's been on my list of places to try. Short view? Everything started great. But did not follow through. The service was awesome. Our waitress, and forgive me as I cannot remember her name, was amazing. When we arrived we observed her interactions with her child and it automatically endeared her to us. And, as a server she was absolutely top notch. We understand from conversations, that she often works the bar. Either way she is awesome and the bright spot of our experience. The ambiance of the place was beautiful. Super refined looking, albeit with uncomfortable chairs at the tables. But I'm not looking for "comfort" per se, I'm looking for beauty. And this spot hits the mark. The we began ordering. Off the cocktail menu, I ordered their version of a pina colada and it was tasty af but definitely weak. My wife ordered a dirty martini with bleu cheese olives that she felt was weak. After those, we each ordered French martinis, that were super lacking in all flavor save for vodka. So strong, a bonus, but not good. As an app, we ordered their calamari which I order everywhere we go. This one lived up to the standard. Nice, big, meaty pieces of squid. A good breading, and a decent (if not underwhelming) sauce. I ordered their version carbonara as a main, and it was likewise, underwhelming. It was over buttered and over creamed. Which, if one knows anything about a traditional carbonara, it involves neither butter nor cream. I get that this is a gastropub and as such they will take liberty with ingredients and traditions; however, if I can make a better one at home... what's the point? My wife ordered the seafood grill which included branzino and shrimp. The branzino was delicious (but slightly over), but the shrimp stopped everything. The shrimp was rotten. On the plate it smelled like an unclean barn. I will say, we had to bring this issue to the attention of our server, and she kindly and appropriately comped our latter two drinks as a result. This made us happy as the drinks comped over the price of the plate, however, the smell is one that stays with us. Even at the time of this writing. We finished up our meal. I took home most of my carbonara as I felt confident I could make it taste good at home, but that's not the point of dining out. If and when I spend this type of money on food, I expect it to be right. This experience was not right. And if it weren't for the server, this review would be a 2 star.
