    Chilli with corn bread

Love the village..love the "everything slows down" feel...was here for a lazy afternoon lunch. Clam chowder was the best. Sandwiches were the usual fair. Chilli was alright. A nice break in between some antique shopping!

You couldn't get a bad meal here if you threw it under the table, dragged it across the floor, and re-plated it! We've been coming to The Village for about 20 years. We lived in Litchfield for 8 and we ate here about 15 times a year. Everyone knows us, Paul & Timothy, and our favorite servers are always there to make us smile, especially Holly. They are all the kindest and most amazing people from top to bottom, and Denise and crew always make us feel at home. The food is always on point. Do you know how hard that is to accomplish in this day and age, with the massive difficulties faced by restaurants in the areas of staffing, food prices and quality control? That's a rhetorical question. Extremely hard indeed. When you come in, you'll pass the tightly huddled good folks of Litchfield and surrounding towns, from Torrington to Morris and Bantam. It belongs to us all. You'll sit and be greeted by the server and the placemat which features Litchfield based sports teams from the past. Right off the bat, you're hit with nostalgia that is specific and authentic to the spirit of this town. And, who doesn't love rating the handsome players from 1-10 while you wait! I know everyone has done it! Right during the height of dinner the lights dim, the candles are lighted and the local buzz of Litchfield humanity can be heard through the pub and the dining room. If you're on the pub side or the dining side, you always feel like you're missing the fun on the other side, and that's what makes this place memorable and amazing,--you might get seated in either part of the restaurant, but a great time will be had no matter where you sit. At any time of the day, locals are sitting at the bar to enjoy a beer, drink and talk about the upcoming Road Race, the holiday party over at Declan's, or the band at the village green concerts. It's a town that has several great restaurants, but one restaurant in the heart of Litchfield and in the hearts of Litchfieldians that just clinches it. Call ahead, make a reservation and tell everyone about your experience. It will always be memorable and I promise you can get better Calamari, Nachos, open face steak sandwiches, salads and burgers anywhere else. Oh man, are those nachos legendary!

Stopped in for dinner tonight after a long day. A perfect meal w/ crisp Kim Crawford Sauvingnon Blanc, out of this world Oyster Tacos and "The Big Salad" (actually a meal for two and I shared w/ a friend). It's definitely a place where you want reservations as it can get very crowded, especially on the weekends.

We dropped in after a day of snowboarding at Mohonk and everything we ordered was so hearty and warmed us right up. Great ambiance and great location in the center of town. Outdoor seating available when weather permits. We enjoyed our meals and service was great even on a busy night. Looking forward to dropping in again!

Liked it from the outside, and it continued to check all the boxes. We sat at the bar, were acknowledged by the very busy bartender, "be right with you, folks", and the place was hopping. A friendly patron, offered her menu, and we got a head start on the menu. I had soup/salad combo, (chicken salad on spinach) and husband had fried chicken sandwich. Great service, happy vibe. Thanks!!

Solid bar food at the Green. Kids love the nachos. Place gets crowded with locals so order in advance if you do takeout.

I'm torn on this review. I think if I came back and ordered another dish it would be a better experience. The location is nice. There are outdoor and some indoor tables on the Main Street in Litchfield. The service was pretty good. I ordered the buffalo chicken nachos. I don't feel like is an accurate description of what I got. There was absolutely nothing buffalo about the nachos that I got. I would almost have thought I got the wrong item, but there's no other nachos on the menu. I got plain chicken, cheese, tomato, and jalapeño nachos. There was also a side of sour cream and salsa as stated. I gave it a try, but just wasn't doing anything for me. It was a large portion too. It needed the chicken to either be buffalo flavored, or have some buffalo sauce drizzled or something.

I really enjoy this place, especially in the colder weather months. They always have several soup and sandwich combinations along with an extensive menu of comfort foods and all kinds of pub fare. Has a very rustic feel inside due to the age of the building. Service is always good and the food speaks for itself. They have a nice rotating draft list for beers and carry several locally brewed beers as well. My wife LOVES the chili. I had a tuna melt and bowl of clam chowder this particular trip. Great as always. My wife had the chili and it was also the same great chili it always has been. My favorite is the crispy chicken sandwich but is switched it up this time. It's a local staple for sure so a reservation wouldn't be the worst idea. We usually gravitate towards the bar. Go have lunch here, I guarantee you will return again sometime if you do!

Solid food. I think I enjoyed the French onion soup the best. Service was slow. Small booths for four people.

The dinner menu was atypical, featuring an eclectic fusion of dishes executed with lots of creative flair. Flavor, quality and freshness of ingredients were top notch. Our starter, Garlic Maple Whiskey Chicken Bites, came accompanied with grilled shishito peppers. Perfect for sharing and so lovely paired with a glass of prosecco. Next, we sampled Bouillabaisse and Miso Roasted Black Cod in dashi broth. Seafood for both mains were super fresh. The Bouillabaisse broth was remarkably flavorful, the hint of saffron ever present but not overwhelming. How nice to have the red pepper rouille and slices of bread (customary in France) served alongside for the authentic experience. Miso Roasted Black Cod was tasty, succulent and fork tender. Beautifully arranged with mushrooms and Brussels sprouts surrounding the fish, plus a delectable piece of polenta cake tucked underneath. Dashi broth was poured onto dish tableside, creating a warm umami rich dish that was not only delicious but also extremely satisfying. On to desserts....The Chocolate Tarte with sea salt, nuts and berry coulis, a picture of understated elegance, was incredibly sublime. The Warm Apple Tartlet à la Mode with vanilla ice cream was good too. Would have preferred a tad less cinnamon though. All things considered, this was an exemplary meal. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. Hope to return again soon.

(Thanks to Bill S., Litchfield-based CT Yelp Elite, for bringing the restaurant to mind through his informative review.) The revitalization effort was initiated by a couple -- Jill Farrarotti and Jonathan Philips. Farrarotti's family owned the site since 1955 and Philips has professional food service experience. LOCATION: The restaurant is located at the edge of Stonybrook Golf -- a nine hole public golf course set on a picturesque rural road. CONCEPT: Clubhouse Provisions serves modern American and Asian-inspired dishes in a public clubhouse setting. ATMOSPHERE: The clubhouse is modern and bright, with wraparound glass windows overlooking the golf course, cathedral ceiling, and light-colored painted wood paneled walls. SERVICE: Service is informative and friendly. FOOD: The Crispy Thai Calamari ($20) is worth a visit in itself, and is available during brunch (Sunday), lunch, and dinner service. There is a mix of baby spinach, thinly breaded, crispy Calamari, and chunks of mango and grapefruit veiled by an Asian dressing. It shares top place for best iteration of fried calamari I've experienced (the other is Rhode Island style at a RI restaurant). Pork Belly Bites ($21) makes for a good small plate to share when looking to enjoy a drink and a bite on the porch or at the bar. The Avocado Toast ($25), a popular brunch item prior to 2025 season, has been modified and in my mind has an overemphasis on vinegar flavor, delivered through balsamic drizzle and mound of pickled onions. TIPS: The restaurant is only open seasonally due to its relationship with golf course. The absence of sound-absorbing ceiling material makes the dining experience uncomfortably noisy when the dining room is full. The space is available for hosting events.

Chef Jon is back, and his opening menu for Litchfield Restaurant Week is an excellent one, fully supported by the kitchen which is blending in some newcomers with its experienced staff. We like the wait staff we encountered, too: Jonelle and Abby, super friendly as always, and quick to respond. The early menu is limited but tasty: the fried chicken breast sandwich is back and as yummy as could be hoped. We enjoyed the salmon poke bowl (a little more acidity needed) and the splendid calamari. The deserts we sampled, cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake, were simply delicious. We are so happy to welcome Clubhouse Provisions back and look forward to many more visits and an update on the full menu later this year.

We didn't get a chance to photograph our meals, but previous reviews accurately capture the appearance of the shrimp scampi. Here's a quick breakdown of our experience: The clam chowder was extremely thick and overly salty. After just a few bites, we couldn't finish more than about a quarter of the bowl. The shrimp scampi featured a generous portion of shrimp, but the dish was overwhelmed by an excessive amount of chopped tomatoes and garlic. I've never added tomatoes to scampi. The lobster and "truffle mushroom" ravioli was the biggest disappointment. There was no discernible mushroom flavor - truffle or otherwise. The ravioli was served in a light cream sauce but, once again, with an overwhelming amount of chopped tomatoes and garlic which was suspiciously the same chopped version on the scampi. The filling contained very little lobster, and the tomatoes (which tasted more like sun-dried tomatoes) dominated every bite. We enjoy both tomatoes and garlic, but their heavy use completely overpowered these dishes. Even more surprising, neither ingredient is highlighted in the menu description (see menu photos), making the dishes quite different from what we expected. We'd consider returning for fries and a beer in the bar area, but we wouldn't order entrees here.

We were patient at first, but eventually the relaxed pace simply became frustrating... more bread, another glass of wine and still no food. When it finally arrived, the food was delicious. The duck dumplings, onion tart, crusted lamb loin and corn agnolotti were all beautifully prepared. Michelle also did a great job on the service side, but the kitchen was painfully slow. What disappointed us most was the lack of hospitality. There was no meaningful apology, acknowledgment or real effort to make things right... and we were charged for everything. More bread and a pint of ice cream didn't address the situation. We left impressed by the food but deeply dissatisfied with the overall experience. The prices reflect a fine-dining restaurant, but the service and hospitality did not come close. At this level, excellent food isn't enough.
