It was very busy when we got there but we were greeted by both Amy and Lisa and they never stopped moving the entire time we were there. The food came out quickly and was so delicious. Late review -- we had lunch at The Store Bar and Grill in Torrington one day last week. We were all 1st Timers, this place had been on my radar for some time. My wife & Mother In Law both ordered cheesesteaks, I had a Mussels appetizer, and I also shared an order of a dozen wings with my wife. The wings were good, meaty w/ a crispy outer coating. I felt the dry rub ones were slightly on the salty side, but overall, they were quality wings. My wife & Mother In Law enjoyed their cheesesteaks. I thought the Mussels app was good, a decent portion of mussels too. To finish everything off, we shared an Italian Rice Pudding Amaretto -- it was excellent ! Service was also stellar, I forget the name of the bartender working that afternoon, but my wife loved her cocktails. We would certainly drop in again for lunch (or dinner), at The Store Bar & Grill. Waitress was super nice. Place was really noisy and the food was a bit pricy in my opinion. $13, for a pretzel with pub cheese? Wings were great and Chicken app was tasty, but expected more hummus and salad especially after the waitress said it was a "good size". $65, 3 apps a pint and glass of beer. read more

A hidden Gem We went to The Store in Torrington, CT and LOVED it! When we pulled up, Roger (the owner) greeted us outside and directed us where to park. For a second, I honestly thought he was just a friendly guy drinking a beer in the lot, being helpful. Nope he's the owner, and yes, he sets the tone immediately. Inside, the bar was big, comfy, and had that "you're one of us now" vibe. The atmosphere? Awesome. The food? Even better. And the people? REAL. Refreshingly real. Amy was our waitress and we absolutely adored her. My husband is a wise-ass (he thinks it's charming), and she gave it right back to him without missing a beat. My kind of woman. We started with the shrimp cocktail--delish. Caesar salad--yummy. But the star of the night? The prime rib, sitting proudly over garlic mashed potatoes. I still think about it. Honestly, I may have dreams about it. We live in Westport where restaurants are gorgeous... and often crazy expensive and just a tad snotty. The Store felt like we were dining with friends we actually liked. We even got to meet Roger's wife, Dena, who is an absolute gem. She told us how the restaurant got its name a regular at her old place would always tell his wife he was "heading to the store" when he was really heading to the bar. Iconic. I love her already. Of course, I bought a sweatshirt. (I'm a dirty martini girl; I needed merch.) We were headed to the Warner to see a comedian, but honestly, dinner was the warm-up act and it hit just as hard. It's small, impossible to find, completely unassuming - and I LOVE coming here. The wings and staff (and keno) earn this place 4 stars in my book. Especially the TORRINGTON HOT sauce. A must try. Blue cheese is good as well. The entrees and OK. But they do not add to the score. Every time we come here we wish we had simply ordered more wings. But we always clear our plates (with few exceptions). We don't drink alcohol so I cannot comment on the beverage program. But it looks like it's absolutely what I would want in this setting. My wife were only in town for two nights and we Yelp'd looking for a good place for dinner while staying in Torrington. What an awesome experience. We were greeted by such friendly, fun and great waitress. The restaurant also had a live musician that was exceptional. His repertoire and his talent was so entertaining. He rocked! The food was delicious, we had calamari for an appetizer. Most excellent, the beer on tap is great and my wife shared a ribeye. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. Very tender steak. This place has a very cool and fun vibe. The owner stopped us on the way out and introduced himself and asked what we thought of the meal and place. What a cool genuine guy. First off for sure go back. Loved the server loved the bartender. Food was great ish. I am kind of picky with certain things - okay salmon particularly. We heard great reviews on this place so decided to try it. Ordered a burger, bbq wings, fries, and the spring rolls for takeout. It was ready fast!The burger was good, the rest was not at all. Wings were fried tenders with bbq sauce on top, threw those right in the trash. The spring rolls looked like cheap frozen ones. The fries weren't too bad but not crispy and so salty. From the simple neighborhood hangout vibe to the ribeye with asparagus to the amaretto rice pudding this place is a new favorite. Our server Jenna was rocking all of the tables by herself while still being attentive. On the hunt for a great French dip in my area I went to the store. Can say it's pretty good. 2 bad things about it other than the price. $17 is pretty expensive IMO. 1. It's just meat and bread. I personally believe it should come with Swiss cheese or any kind of cheese. Some would say onions and/or mushrooms as well. Bare min should be cheese though. 2. The sauce. It's not that it was bad. It's the fact they give you so little. Not enough to enjoy every bite of your sandwich. The waffle fries it came with though were cooked to perfection!! I give this cute, local new place two thumbs up! We have been there three times within the last month and have not been disappointed! The first time we went was in a Saturday night and the place was packed (we made a reservation). I went for the (Prime Rib) French dip but was disappointed because they do not serve it on Friday or Saturday nights because their special is Prime Rib! So needless to say we were not disappointed friending that out! A few of us had the Prime Rib and one had the pork chop Marsala - all were excellent! We then returned a few nights later and again yesterday and I had the French Dip each time. The first time I forgot to ask for Swiss cheese (it comes with a jus and great waffle fries) but last night I remembered and the sandwich was excellent. My husband had the rib eye steak and our friend had the a breaded chicken dish (I forget the name but there is a picture). The service is excellent and the drinks are great. One glass of wine, one espresso martini, one appetizer (calamari) one lunch sandwich special and one rice pudding (which was warm and soupy) and one Irish coffee was over $85.00. I thought we were going to a restaurant after reading the reviews, but it is a redecorated sports bar with a sign "no gang colors allowed" on the doors. There were Very few tables to sit at and everyone is very close to the many large TV's and over sized bar. Stepped into this cool little spot for the 1st time to meet a couple of friends the other night. Owner and staff were great. Superior beer selection loaded w/ choices from numerous local breweries. Food was very good. Wings were cooked perfectly: crispy outside, moist and tender inside. 2 of us went the sandwich route, a lot of nice options there. 2 others went w/ entries. We have now been to The Store at least 6-7 times including New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day. It is a fun, cozy neighborhood place. Consistently good food. We've enjoyed their sandwiches as well as their dinner specials, all well prepared and presented. Great cocktails and 24 local beers. Service is very good, friendly and professional. If you have a request to add or subtract from your dish, just ask. They bend over backwards to please. Local live music a couple of nights a week.
