We are never disappointed when we come here. We sat at the bar with Alex, who had the best advice for drinks and is an accomplished mixologist! We had a Sasso's Old-Fashioned and a Bloody Mary. So smooth! And our salads were delicious!

Sasso's has been on my Try List for a while, but I live close to an hour away. I became increasingly interested when they recently made the CT Pizza Trail. I was visiting some spots in Bantam and Litchfield, and I decided to drive to Sasso's to get a takeout Portobello Burrata Pizza. Sasso's is next to the Warner Theater in the heart of downtown Torrington. Cool outside area. Classic inside with lots of wood. My pizza was ready on time. My limited interactions with the staff were all good. I tried a couple slices before I drove the rest of the pizza home to share with my family. Loved the thin crust. Good crisp, but still good chewy too. Some char. The toppings were good. They smartly packed the arugula on the side without me even asking. The arugula definitely would have had a tendency to wilt on the drive home if it steamed inside the box with a hot pizza. I was impressed with Sasso's and I'll be back. 4.5 Stars

10.9.25 I've been here a handful of times and I gave them a few tries. I mention this because my first visit was pretty much a flop. I have heard so many good things about this place and it unfortunately didn't translate into good visits for me. I have been hearing about this restaurant for a handful of years and I recently finally started coming here. I was dying to try mama cips 7 hour rigatoni bolognese, but it fell completely flat for me. It was very plain & bland. I was so surprised. The meatballs didn't do it for me either. They were unreasonable & also bland. They tasted like plain ground beef balls. The sauce tasted very good though. I soaked and sopped all of it up with bread. Yum yum yummers. Also the ricotta was to die for. It was so creamy, so light with an amazing texture. These two things were the highlights for me. It ended there for the good things. I see so many reviews for people loving their pizza but it didn't make the cut for me. In my opinion, I didn't care for their pizza. And in my opinion, the pizza was also bland. Sorry to say. For take out to go orders the service was lacking, as I stood at the register with the worker playing or texting on their cell as I waited for them to finish. When I was leaving on that visit, it was nice for someone who thanked me for coming. I believe this woman was a manner. She was nice acknowledged me. Great customer service. For dining in the service was good. The restaurant is usually very lively, even on a Sunday night. Good crowd with loads of happy people involved in their conversations. It's a very clean restaurant. Parking was also easy out front on the street. Pretty close to the highway exit on and off ramps. I'm looking to try them again soon to see what I'm missing from these other experiences from these reviews. We'll see. You never know. This can turn into a favorite spot. Stranger things have been known to happen.

Myron and the trio, and me enjoying their music!

I go usually on Thursday nights to hear the live music from 6:30 to 9:30. Myron and the Trio were great, as usual! I must give compliments to Brooke, Luis, and the other server whose name I cannot recall (but who is beautiful like Brooke and who resembles Paige Desorbo of "Southern Charm" fame). Brooke is an amazing server and the other young lady is taking after her. They greeted me warmly and served me well. Luis is a very kind and considerate young man. And everyone else who worked there that evening seemed exemplary as well, from the servers to the food preparers to back of house where they are washing dishes and cleaning up... and the manager who enforced the rules. Seems like a great team. I will continue to patronize Sasso's as long as the customer service is as great it was that evening!

We went to Sasso's after going to Christmas village. We went right into this warm and cozy restaurant. We live in the New Haven area so we are spoiled with good pizza and we would put this pie among them. I had a beautiful char and great flavor combinations. My husband had the Truffalo and I have the sweet and spicy. They are both loaded but balanced. The crust had a good chew to it. It's right next to the warner theater so super convenient for anybody going for dinner before a show. We will definitely be back.

Tall broad windows, wood walls, and open pizza oven create a cozy but open ambiance. For those of us who love that coal fired char and thinner pie, this is a very nice option. I am very very particular about how I like my pizza (see my 14+ years of reviews). The ingredients are fresh, the options are varied. The pizza dough has a nice chew and crunch to the edges. Sauce is tangy, although I feel the pizza could use a little bit more sauce. Cheese is buttery not very salty. I prefer the New Haven style with long hot peppers. Excellent service, friendly, accurate, accommodating every time. Other great menu options. The clams are always fresh and excellent. Eggplant stack, coal fired wings, sausage & broccoli rabe , beet and arugula salad are all nicely executed and flavorful. Street parking. Gets busy on weekends, plan ahead.

Sasso's Coal Fired Pizza is a coal-fired artisanal pizzeria that opened in Torrington, Connecticut in 2016. It was founded by Matt Cipriano. The restaurant was inspired by his family's love and passion for food. Cipriano named the venture after his grandfather Robert Sasso and great grandfather Thomas Sasso. The main focus of the menu at Sasso's is coal-fired New Haven-style pizza (or 'Apizza' [pronounced ah-BEETS]) with a modern artisanal twist. Other items on the menu include pasta entrées, chicken dishes, salads, and various appetizers and desserts. I visited Sasso's for the first time this past weekend while I was visiting the area with my two young sons. I had heard some great things for a few years now and I was happy to cross this pizzeria off of my list. They had a lot of autumn-inspired dishes and cocktails during our visit. To drink, I ordered the "Pumpkin Smash Old Fashion" (Up N Down pumpkin spice bourbon, house-made all spice simple syrup, black walnut bitters, muddled orange). It tasted just as good as it sounds; my kind of cocktail! For food, we decided to order a few small pizzas for the table to share. We tried the "Margherita" (crushed alta cucina tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, olive oil, pecorino romano), the "Lemon Burrata Clam" (fresh clams, bacon, lemon burrata, roasted garlic, red onion, pecorino romano), and the "Smoked Pork & Apple Pizza" (pulled pork, Granny Smith apples, caramelized onion, house BBQ, smoked paprika). We also ordered the "Apple Pecan Mac & Cheese" (Granny Smith apples, crispy prosciutto, toasted pecans, mild cheddar, mozzarella, gorgonzola, cavatelli). Everything was phenomenal! The pizza ingredients were so fresh, the crust was perfectly charred and crisp, and I like how they put a modern twist on classic Apizza combos. I also loved all of the autumn specials, especially that Mac & cheese! Before leaving, our server talking us into sharing a plate of "Sasso's Apple Crisp" (warm brown sugar cinnamon apples, topped with vanilla ice cream, crumb topping, whipped cream & powdered sugar). It was the perfect way to end the meal! We'll definitely be back!

An order for a pizza that I paid for extra mozzarella on.

Do they make a good pizza? Yes. Will they screw your deliver order up every time? Yes. 4 orders from them at different times (and we're talking a $50 order for ONE pizza). 4 times in a row I asked for (and paid for) additional regular mozzarella in addition to the fresh mozzarella on a margarita pizza. Every time this request was ignored. Then my order gets delivered from a door-dash driver with his kid in the car and my pizza on the front passenger floor. I'm done with these jack-offs. This is the last pizza ever from them. A real shame because it's good pizza, but they don't give a crap about you. Eff you Sassos.

We have been coming to Sasso's basically since they opened. It is absolutely amazing EVERY SINGLE TIME. The staff literally treats you like family. We love seeing all of our favorite faces the second we walk in! Even if the place is PACKED with reservations, everyone always does everything in their power to still accommodate us if there's any possibility to do so. The food is always next level delicious and their cocktails are truly works of art. We have an obsession with the smoked wings, ceaser salad and every single pizza on the menu. Our recent addiction is the hot sausage pie with pepperoni! Matt, the owner is always making the rounds, clearing tables, seating guests when needed, helping his staff and making sure everyone is taken care of. It's such a breath of fresh air to know walking into an establishment that you are going to have an all around incredible experience EVERY TIME! We love you Sasso's!! AmyKate, Bri and Jack!

This is a gem. Amazing food. I adore their new menu. My spouse and I keep going back here even with the new restaurants cropping up. Sasso's is our #1 for so many reasons. Lovely diverse HAPPY people, cool vibes whether sitting at the bar or one of their two dining rooms. Outside on the patio during summer is a genuine treat. It's a very welcoming place with legendary espresso martinis, pizza that consistently wins awards, and some truly bespoke dinner items. It also boasts one of the most friendly staffs we've ever met. It's a bit like Cheers in that everyone is friendly and happy and the joy (especially before a Warner Theater show) is impossible not to get wrapped in! If you sit quietly and listen to the crowd, you hear laughter, shared happiness and a kind of magic of mutual joy. This is a delicious place. Torrington is lucky that Sasso's calls it home.

Sasso's has a great patio in the summer months, giving visitors a view of the art deco buildings that make up downtown Torrington. Inside, there are two distinct dining areas--the sunny original restaurant, and the darker bar area. Both offer a combination of regular table seating and high top bar seating. The coal-fired crust pizza is reliably good and always well made. They also offer a Sunday brunch that has some interesting and delicious options. Their cocktails really shine, with their own takes on some old classics that are well executed. They also offer takeout and delivery through DoorDash. Service is generally good, though sometimes they seem a bit short staffed (especially if you're eating in the bar room).

For a second, I honestly thought he was just a friendly guy drinking a beer in the lot, being helpful. Nope he's the owner, and yes, he sets the tone immediately. Honestly, I may have dreams about it. We live in Westport where restaurants are gorgeous... and often crazy expensive and just a tad snotty. The Store felt like we were dining with friends we actually liked. We even got to meet Roger's wife, Dena, who is an absolute gem. Of course, I bought a sweatshirt. (I'm a dirty martini girl; I needed merch.) We were headed to the Warner to see a comedian, but honestly, dinner was the warm-up act and it hit just as hard.
