Small house salad. House made peppercorn ranch was good. Warning: olives have pits.

I am a sucker for small town businesses. I romanticize the allure of neon restaurant signs. I really really loved the people working. All of the above made me so happy. But I really really can't get into Greek-style pizza. I'm sorry. I can't - even here, where it's the BEST example of Greek pizza I've tried. But, just like I say to Chicago deep-dishers, I die a little on the inside when I need a fork and knife to eat pizza. It was sloppy and over topped - yet didn't taste like much. New Jersey bias, yes. New Haven style acolyte, guilty as charged. I own my biases. If you feel differently from me you may LOVE this place. But for me, I'm glad I tried it. One star for the staff and another for the neon sign. I'm sorry. It's not you, it's me.

The namesake Bantam Pizza. At my partner's absolute disgust, the anchovies were kept separate, far away from her nose.

A little gem hidden in the Litchfield Hills. Okay, so it's not that hidden, sitting right on Route 202 in the closest thing that area has to a city. The Greek-style pizza is worth stopping into this quaint and nondescript little restaurant. Service is quick and the kitchen wastes little time. The server will rush you ice water or a soda from the case, take your order, and quickly get a pizza on your table. Even the little things, like keeping the grated cheese in the refrigerator or putting ingredients on half or on the side if asked, don't go unnoticed.

I was cruising down Rt202 the other day with a bad hankering for a slice of pizza. I spot the sign for Bantam Pizza, and it states, "Pizza by the Slice". Dang, it must be my lucky day ! Unfortunately, the slice I was served was Greek style (which is hard to find, "by the slice"). I'm not partial to Greek style, it's a dry crust with a spongy undercarriage. Greasy too, with flavorless sauce. In a state renowned for its pizza, I don't understand how these Greek places stay in business, but they do. The slice I received at Bantam Pizza was the typical Greek style I dislike. Basically on the level of Gas station pizza. Blah. Owner was a humorous guy, but that doesn't make up for lousy pizza. Sorry.

Clam Casino pizza (medium)

This restaurant is five stars for it's location to our campground and the friendliness of the staff! We ordered a medium Clams Casino pizza, the toppings were absolutely delicious, but the crust was mediocre at best. We also ordered a Gyro with fries, the Gyro meat was premade and heated up for the sandwich, the fries were crinkle fries that were already seasoned with salt and pepper. Drinks come in cans or Snapple bottles. They do serve beer & wine too. I also think they sell pizza by the slice and hot sandwich's as well. For convenience if your camping and looking not to cook and a family friendly spot, this is the place for you.

I've driven by Bantam Pizza for years, and I think before this only stopped once. It's a cute exterior, it clearly used to be a house with a big front porch. The restaurant has a front and side entrance, although the side opens into the table area and looks a little cramped. The front you have more space to take it in. It still looks homey, with a pizza counter in the back of the "sitting room". The menu is pretty big with selections. I ultimately chose a steak sandwich, which had meat that was well seasoned. The cheese ratio was pretty good for this part of the country, and the bread was fresh. The mozzarella sticks were exactly what you think they are, and a little oily. My poor shirt suffered. The Oreo cake was not made in house, but so creamy and chocolately, who cares? The waitress was really friendly despite multitasking while she worked. Check on a table, then unload a box of soda. Check on tables, bring something to the basement. Her speed and good cheer throughout was impressive. It was good food and a good experience!

Amazing pizza, good salad, super friendly service. "Dive-y" ambiance but totally in line with small, private pizza shop

The Greek style pizza was good and the waitress was quite friendly. The prices were fair too. You can't go wrong here.

Great pizza with classic pizzeria vibe. We always order pies or slices with a couple glasses of wine. Highly recommend for casual night out!

I loved my visit here. I will definitely be back…read more I grew up in northern NJ in an era of family businesses. In fact, it was common in the 80's and 90's to see multiple generations working to provide their customers the best... I had that experience yesterday. Upon walking into the spotless dining room, I saw Nonna/Mom/Great Aunt in the first booth looking over the operation while the next generation was busy in the kitchen - and working in concert with the youngest family member who was working the floor. Fantastic. So friendly, so heartwarming. I also watched as "regulars" came in for their dinner. They ALL stopped by the kitchen entry to say hello to all employees and each employee greeted them by name. I hope to one day achieve this status. The food was good. I had a side salad, fried calamari, and a small pizza (half plain, half pepperoni and ricotta). Everything was fresh, tasty, and really well cooked. I was very happy to be a part of a dinner service there. I am looking forward to trying an entree - I have a craving for veal... maybe later this week. My only knock on my experience is that their sauce is very simple, and, in my opinion, lacks a little tang to stand up to the pizza cheese and toppings. But the crust was almost clinically perfect. My half pepperoni and ricotta side was slightly floppy in the middle - but I have to take responsibility for that as it was a tough order. Each half of my pizza cooks much differently. The plain cheese side was perfect. I can't wait to go back.

Purchased a pizza pie, an order of meatballs and a eggplant parm dinner with ziti and a salad. The…read morefood was just out of the oven, hot and fresh. When I returned home, the food was devoured. It was tasty, plentiful and perfect. Happy I found this restaurant, and will be back.

I have driven past this place for a year - DYING to try it. Today, my curiosity got the best of me…read moreand I went. 1 star earned for the amazing server working the phone and the dining room. She was outstanding (I wish I had gotten her name). She moved with purpose, had a smile, and even put up with some generational jokes and banter at the other table with appropriate humor, patience, and without eye rolls. She was great. 1 star earned for clearly being a family place serving the community. There were family holiday cards on the wall upon walking in - perhaps multiple generations of family working in the kitchen, and the place is clearly a source of pride. It is spotless. Recently remodeled in a very safe and neutral tone - but I'd literally eat food off the floor clean. All of the above makes me want to go back soon. And I will. .5 stars earned for BYOB. I do not partake, but when I did "BYOB," I would have loved and appreciated coming here with a bottle of Chianti and enjoyed. Really really great. Earning our final .5 stars, unfortunately, is the food. I happen to be in the business so I was concerned when I saw Restaurant Depot brand plastic wraps and retail store paper plates behind the counter. The soda cooler is also not from a Pepsi distributor as they do not want to deal with cans. So this leads me to they are also purchased retail and stocked. That's not a problem, but it lets me know the through-put does not warrant them getting from a food service distributor who has minimums on weekly orders. I ordered cautiously: a small garden salad (was BEAUTIFULLY plated) was $9!! And wet. Fried calamari (also came to my table with some much hope - it was GORGEOUS) had soggy rings, cold in the middle tentacles, and a tasteless marinara. All of the breading fell off of the wet seafood and I left it on the plate for the kitchen to see and hopefully learn from $13. And a small cheese pizza for $11 that was good. It was light a fluffy which was weird for me. But it was cooked well and was the runner-up highlight of the experience (service was the best). I saw very nice looking pasta dishes go out to tables, so I will Order one next time I go. I don't think the chefs were formally trained based on some of the technique stumbles today and I noticed the pastas that went out to other tables were not tossed in the sauces they were with. The ample accompaniments were plated on top. But I will reserve judgement until I try myself. All in all. It was ok. I'll continue to support the family run place happily as long as the service and effort that was clear today are still there.
