I've lived in New Hartford for over 30 years. I've only been to Pizza Palace twice. First time was years ago, didn't remember why we didn't go back. Enter 2 days ago, coming back from NY, I stopped for a pizza because it was in the way. Standard cheese pizza. Impressions: I remember now why I don't get pizza here. Ordered food last night. Sadly the pizzas were not even fully cooked and the french fries were soggy couldnt even enjoy our meal.

Driven by here so many times, we decided to stop in and try it. Staff is very friendly & service was timely. Ordered fried mozzarella, and that's when I realized the pasta I ordered for my meal wasn't going to be good. Their sauce is very plain and not much flavor. Their kids meal chicken tenders were tough and stringy, I appreciate the fact they didn't use frozen, but my daughter would not eat these. I gave Pizza Palace 3 stars not because of the pizza; I have to be truthful about this, their pizza isn't good. The crust was way to thick, doughy, and flavorless. As a matter of fact, the pie I had could have stayed in the oven a bit longer. The sauce was so sweet it wasn't edible, and the sausage had the consistency of Italian sausage, but the flavor was off-putting to say the least. So, the reason I'm giving Pizza Palace 3 stars is because they make a fantastic fully loaded half pound cheeseburger with fries. The burger consists of bacon, mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes, onion and plenty of melted American cheese on a hard roll. I also like the salads because they add plenty of cheese, making it a meal unto itself. So, my suggestion to the owners of Pizza Place is this... get rid of the pizza and put an emphasis on just serving burgers, salads, and sandwiches. So, I do recommend eating here, but get the burger, that's the real star of the show, not the pizza. read more

I go here once awhile. We went the other night and my kids loved their meals. We started off with the fried eggplant which everyone devoured. Our waitress recommended them which was a great call! My boyfriend and I split pizza and he said it was great. I prefer very thin crust so it was good but not my fave. I also had the Greek salad which hands down is best in town!!! Kids meals were perfect portion and kids ate it all! Great waitstaff, good atmosphere, plenty of seating and clean. read more

We have been going here for 10 years! They sent us home with a burnt pizza. The guy in front of me pizza was so burnt they asked him if he wanted another one which he replied yes! We've been here a few times before and always enjoyed our meal and the way we were treated. We dropped in tonight, and the restaurant was very crowded. Lots of families, lots of kids, lots of couples. Its a nice low key unpretentious place without duck fat fries or charcuterie platters. Lots of pizza and burgers and sandwiches and pasta for rock bottom prices. We had a coke, a chicken parm grinder, a "small" (in reality quite large salad), and a side order of meatballs for 21 buckaroos. Service had been great in the past. Last year we remember chatting with a real nice server after the Halloween storm about how she brought her kids to work (no power at home) and had them making pizza boxes. She was a real gem. Tonight we had a real zirconium chip instead of that gem - terrible service- we waited forever for our food, waited forever for our check, never checked up on us, didn't say one word of pleasant banter to us all night. read more

As far as quality goes I'd consider this diner style. The food is very generic and bland. The pizza is thick with very greasy cheese. It also comes with a ridiculous amount of flavorless crust. The meatballs taste like oil. Raviolis I'm guessing are just boil from a bag. All together the food reminded me of a lower quality Pizza Hut but way overpriced. I live in Waterbury and work in Torrington at a group home, due to that I can not leave and go out for lunch. So my boyfriend so graciously drives from Waterbury to pick up the pizza that I love chicken Florentine from Pizza Palace like he has been doing for the past year. However when he dropped the pizza off to me I was super Duper busy and wasn't able to take my break so the pizza sat on the dining room table closed for about an hour. When I finally was able to have a break I sat down and open the pizza box and a fly flew out of it!!!! I called Pizza Palace to let them know and perhaps either be reimbursed for the price of the pizza or simply replace the pizza ( because I love their pizza and am starving!!!!! But to my shock and horror the manager told me they don't have Flys there!!!!! That's how pizza palace lost a good consistent customer!!! WOW!! The manager should be ashamed of herself!!! We are never coming back. We stopped by on two separate occasions... once several month ago and once just now (May 2011). Both were weekday dinner times and the place was not busy. However, the service was uncomfortably slow and the food mediocre. Everything is bland, canned, and disappointing. The pizza / calzone crust is clearly frozen. The veggies are frozen and low quality... my daughter ordered a side of broccoli and it was the stalks from a low-end prepackaged frozen broccoli topping. We ordered Jalapeno Poppers for an appetizer and they were gross... frozen, low quality, cheese paste inside, thin breading. The sauce served with calzones, pasta, and appetizers is all highly pureed, unseasoned, and obviously canned. Even their salads are blah... a bowl of lettuce topped with shredded processed mozzarella cheese and a single olive (with the pit, of course). If you're looking for great pizza or calzones in the area head to Marano's (about one mile north on the same road). There are a ton of other selections in Torrington for a good dinner. Again, we did give Pizza Palace a second chance six months apart from the first. However, we left genuinely disappointed both times. read more

I always like the food here but they are bad at being cautious with covid19. First I noticed the main guy in the kitchen wears his mask under his nose. He serves the pizza and cashes people out sometimes. Once the cashier woman wore her mask wrong. Now I am downgrading my review because yesterday they were both wearing their masks below their upper lip. The only thing covered by their masks was their bottom lip. Both of them. They seem like they are fixtures at the restaurant too. They are always there. I know the kitchen can get warm and I don't like creating a scene, so I am just going to stop going and I am going to suggest to my parents that they also stop going. We would get takeout often. Covid19 spreads by respiratory droplets that pass through the air, but it is even riskier when you speak, sneeze, or cough. I don't want that on my food or my food containers. Service people who care about their customer base and care about their own mask policy, they need to learn to wear their mask correctly at all times, from day start to end, except on break. They are risking passing the germs to each other and to their customers and it is disrespectful. I am going to start experimenting with other local pizza places. This is a loss for me. read more

I've been waiting to give a review of Pizza Palace for ten years. My husband likes the sausage calzones and since the bar is usually empty (red flag) we could watch whatever we wanted on tv as long as we were okay handling the sketchy remote, so I've been sucking it up that long. Their waitresses are often hard to find, especially after your order is taken or you're waiting for the check. Their pizza is not something to write home about - go to Vinny's, DaCapo's, Marzano or Berkshire for comparison. I used to order the broccoli & mushroom penne, but unless you ask, it comes swimming in oil and choked with mozz. Same with the salad, except the mozz is cold. I'd moved to ordering the BLT grinder, where I take out half the bacon for my husband for snacks. But unless I ask for extra tomatoes, they take one paltry slice, cut it into quarters and that's what you get for a featured item. Last night was the last straw. They served me a grinder with the crust and bacon burnt, expecting me to eat it. We'll get our calzones somewhere else thank you. If you're hungry, don't waste the trip. read more

Pizza Palace is your local hometown pizza restaurant. I grew up in Torrington, and it was one of our go to places. Decent Greek style pizza with thicker crust. Consistent quality, and my Dad knew the owners, so they always remembered us when we picked up our orders. They've come a long way from the pink walls/pink booths old school pizza joint they originally had back in the 90s to the full restaurant and bar they have now! Food: mostly have had their pizza several times. Cheese, pepperoni, sausage/pepperoni pizzas all taste great and consistent over the years. Had salad a couple times, traditional chopped salads Greek style. Can't go wrong. Prices: Reasonable Service: Friendly, fast for pickup. Can't say for eat in. read more

Pizza Palace used to be my favorite pizza place, the last few times have not been good and the very last time it was so bad I actually tried to dispute the charge. Turns out it is very hard to dispute service charges though. We ordered 3 Italian combos and 1 order of fries. 1 was supposed to have no tomatoes and no peppers, 1 with no lettuce, and 1 just normal. All of them were normal, so 2 people had to try and pick all that stuff off their food. But that's not the worst of it, they had next to no meat, the veggies were meh, and they were so soggy and nasty you could literally hear the squishy noise when you picked it up and they just leaked stuff all over the place. It was disgusting, I have never seen grinders this wet and nasty. The fries were actually moist and flaccid, it was so so gross. We had to throw out our entire dinner. Pizza Palace is a bit of a drive and I am disabled so I was just too exhausted to deal with it or I would have driven back and thrown it on the counter. I will never order there again, I've taken my business to Kent Pizza, the grinders are amazing and pizza is so good, and it's cheaper. read more

Tried this place for the first time today with my boyfriend. We sat and were able to order quickly, as there were maybe two other tables (no draught beer available though there are about 8 taps...?) We ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich and a burger. It took about 30 minutes for two easy orders. Burger was huge and just okay, but same for the chicken sandwich as it was very bland. NEVER GOING BACK!!! I ordered a side Greek tuna salad.... It was $6.00, the size of a small soup cup, and the tuna was cut with so much bread crumbs it was pasty!!!!
