Very exceptional dining experience. We ordered takeout, so I can't comment much on the restaurant itself, but from what I can tell it's very well put together. Only gripe with service was that organization wasn't quite optimal. At the time we had picked up our food, it was very busy, so that makes sense. The food was great. Some of the best fries I've ever had. Everything else was also delicious, especially side items like onion rings and garlic bread. This restaurant is like a hidden gem. I was at a function next-door at second home lounge and I'm single and was sitting at the bar by myself and did not want to eat there by myself so I ordered a pizza from Camp Pizza because it was next-door. Wow I just got home and had a piece and truly I think it's the worst pizza I've ever had in my life. Ordered a combo grinder (hot) to go. Great flavor with abundant deli meats and fresh bread! Staff is friendly and place is clean. Only small nitpick is that the olive oil/vinegar was a little heavy and made end of grinder a little soggy. Overall a very good experience. read more

Pizza is decent, same with salad...not sure why they think sliced rings of onions and peppers are user friendly, but still decent salad. Tried the wings for the first time...horrible. Clearly frozen, breaded, pre-seasoned/sauced. Chicken was spongy and teriyaki sauce was literally just soy sauce, so, so salty. read more

I was visiting my sister in Winsted and asked her where we can get a calzone and a pizza. She suggested this place. They have only ever gotten pizza from here so, their opinion was good. The pizza was good if you like a thick crust. Plenty of cheese and pepperoni and it was cooked to perfection. Now, the reason for only 3 stars. Ordered a pasta dish with meatballs... they did not add the meatballs!! We also ordered a small calzone with spinach and bacon and they put pepperoni instead. Not only that but the calzone was pretty small with little to no cheese inside. Not what I am used to from ordering calzones at countless other restaurants in the past. The bread around the calzone was pretty good so, that says something I guess. Dipped it in marinara and finished my son's pizza cause I was still hungry. Next time, cause I am willing to give them another try, I will check my items before I leave the place. Although, not sure how I would have noticed there was pepperoni instead of bacon. read more

Not only is the food delicious, but they go above and beyond on customer service. I ordered a party pizza through the "Slice" app. Someone from Door Dash showed up to pick it up, had my name wrong and the order wrong. Not sure what happened, but my order got cancelled. I called Kent pizza to ask what happened and spoke with Katie. She explained the dilemma and said I could still pick up the pizza. I had been drinking a few beers (Saturday night) and wasn't about to get behind the wheel. She put me on hold and explained the situation to her boss and they let her deliver it to me (I live about 3 miles away). This is not the usual and they DO NOT DELIVER. It was just a kind thing that was done for me. Please don't take this review as if they will start delivering food on their own. They do not. Stopped in here on a road trip through NY and CT a few weeks ago. I was starving and I had about 100 miles of driving left to do. I ordered a steak and cheese sub and one meatball on the side. I sat down in a booth and waited. Everyone was friendly. One of the waitresses brought someone out a salad and it looked amazing!! They also had this desert case with all these decedent looking cakes and strawberry covered cheesecake. It took every bit of willpower in me to not get one. Got my food and started driving home. The sub was excellent! I ripped off a few pieces of bread from it and dipped it into the sauce from the meatball. Whoa! To die for sauce! And that meatball. One of the best meatballs I've ever had. Kent pizza used to be my favorite pizza place. It still is, but I think since the owners have changed, a lot of the food quality has gone down. The Pizza is still good, but I always get a Buffalo chicken wrap. It used to have a lot of sauce and really good flavor, and the fries that came with it were always crispy, so you heard the crunch when you bit into them (my favorite). Now when I get the buff chicken wrap, it's basically just a grilled chicken wrap, there's barely any sauce, and the fries are always soggy no matter how much I express to make them crunchy. We called in an order for chicken gyro with a side salad instead of fries, a grinder, a small pizza and a cheeseburger. Simple, right? Wrong. First of all, I watched the person preparing pizza scooping up shredded cheese with bare hands and spread it on the dough (no gloves?) Secondly, the order was wrong. We opened up containers to find the chicken gyro was tossed into a styrofoam box, had fries (no salad although requested specifically) and very little sauce which should have been served in a small container. Result? One, muddled mess! The cheeseburger was dry, the french fries were soggy and greasy. Again, styrofoam is not the best way to keep fries hot. The grinder was carelessly wrapped and a mess. We've been trying to order from 1-2 local restaurants during the COVID pandemic to support our community and Kent keeps coming up as a family favorite. The kid behind the bar with the messy curly hair has no business being a bartender. He is aloof, confused half the time and gets an attitude quickly. We have a motorcycle riding group that has been there many many times. We always stop there when we are in Kent. The last two times, this kid has been back there and he has been terrible. We sat for 20 minutes right in front of him and waited and waited .he passed us by twice to serve a group at each corner. Mind you, both groups already had drinks and they wanted to add and reorder. There we were just waiting while both groups had drinks and then we getting reserving. He kept saying " I'll get to you buddy" then when right past us to the other group in tbe corner. After 20 minutes we walked out. This kid needs to learn about the service industry and how to properly tend bar. We went up the street to the Fife and Drum where the service was excellent. I really like Kent for a Greek style pizza. For years we went to the other Greek style pizza place down the road, but I think I like Kent better. The inside looks like it's the original "decor", but it's great for take out. This place has been our pizza stop as a family tradition for over 40 years. The people have changed but the food and flavor have maintained. They recently renovated and it looks great inside. The last 4 times I've been here I've been completely disappointed-a great bite has really become somewhere that I try to avoid. And tonight it made it even more clear that they need to replace some of their staff/quality of food. I always get the crispy chicken ranch wrap (their ranch is addictive) but the last 4 times, the bacon had been chewy or almost raw, and there was NO ranch to be found. Today, I met up with my fiancé for dinner and we both almost walked out. We ordered wings as an appetizer...waited 30 minutes...only for them to come out completely cold and our meal to follow 1 minute later. Not only were the wings cold, but so were bot of our fries. It wasn't just that they weren't scalding-they we're literally lukewarm/cold to the touch. Winsted has more pizza places per capita than perhaps anywhere in the world... but this is one of the best ones for pizza and grinders. The place itself is old and nothing to look at. Prices aren't listed on online menu, but was shocked to have to pay $40.85 for a salad with chicken and chicken ranch wrap. They even charged extra for salad dressing. Food was average and way overpriced. We thought there might be an error on the bill but when we called we were told those were the prices. We've been going there for years, but never again. I just got off the phone with Kent Pizza after picking up a $50 lunch order that was completely wrong. No pepperoni on the pizza but with baked in hair that we didn't order, bone in wings instead of boneless, onions & peppers in a salad that requested none with the wrong salad dressing, another wrong salad period. They offered a discount next time we come in but I feel I should be reimbursed for the food they did not get correct. I told them this is bad business practice and would not be returning. I went here for the first time after hearing about it for years. I'm not a big pizza person but if I'm going to have it, I prefer thin crust. We wanted to get a regular cheese pizza with pineapple and ham. Something I haven't tried but was looking forward to. When I said I wanted to get a cheese pizza with two toppings the price was about $14. When I told her what the toppings were the price came to 17. She said it was a specialty pizza. I don't understand how they can bump it up in cost when those toppings are available on the list for what is available for the $14 pizza with two toppings. We waited to pick it up for takeout by sitting in a booth. It seems dated and not super clean inside. The pizza was just regular run-of-the-mill take out. The sauce was bland. Delicious, fresh food. Large selection and friendly staff. We were driving through town and decided to stop here because there seemed to be a lot of cars parked outside (always a great sign). We weren't disappointed. We had pasta dishes and pizza. Both were great. The pizza had a fairly thick crust that I loved. I can say they've cleaned it up and done a nice job with the interior since the remodel after a small fire they had in the upper floors of the building. I don't like giving bad reviews. Tonight my crew boss ordered food for my crew. 4 grinders and two large Caesar salads. The sandwiches were okay but literally shoved in the aluminum container, and an absolute mess. Four grinders cut up into 6 pieces each. The Caesar salad was a goopy, salty mess with what seemed like 5 gallons of dressing instantly wilting the lettuce and turning it to mush. On top of all, they provided nothing to serve it with, and a $65.00 bill, with a messed up order to boot. My entire crew complained and could not eat the salad and threw their plates out. We were left hungry and really unhappy. When we tried to call, they put us on hold twice for over 8 minutes each time. I've had food here before and it was pretty good. I've been eating Kent pizza since I was a little girl growing up in Barkhamsted. Through the years, they have consistently filled my craving for thin-ish crust, super cheesy, satisfying pizza with a nice, robust sauce. They won't stand up to the trendier flatbread places, but their ingredients are fresh, and they always greet you with a smile. I live in California now, and I find myself comparing every new pizza place that I try to Kent. Very few live up to the mix of great taste, satisfying texture, and affordability that Kent pizza offers. Definitely a solid choice for a weeknight where mom just doesn't feel like cooking. Also. Okay, okay, my really good friend's almost husband's family owns this place, but I was in love with Kent before the two of them even knew each other, so I think I win... Eat the calzone, people! So good. The dough is crunchy without being so crispy that shards of sharp dough scrape the roof of your mouth. There's a ton of cheese, too, but not so much it's allPlus they have some of the best sauce--it's zesty but not spicy. For you veggies out there, they make one of the best eggplant sandwiches (grinder) in the world. I lived on them through high school. A main stay in this tiny town, Kent's is a favorite of baseball teams and church groups, so Saturday for lunch can be a bit crazy if you're planning on eating in. They do have some beer, though I believe your choices are Bud, Bud Light or Bud.... If you're passing through NW CT for any reason and get hungry, I highly recommend stopping in. read more

If you're looking for a quiet dining experience, head a few steps down to the dining room at Tuscany Bar and Grill. Kent Pizza looks like a scene from an old, 1980's gritty action movie. Families, and teens come in, order their food for take out, or eat in. Manners, and traditional dining etiquette is out the window at this place. Which is fine by me, sometimes it's nice to go out to eat and still be in comfort where you can relax like you're home. We ordered the mild hot wings. Not entirely sure of the batter, but it tasted like beer-batter. Very crispy, and yummy. Just writing this review is making me crave them. We ordered our wings mild, which was a little too mild. We'll definitely order "hot" next time. We then ordered the heart attack pizza, I mean, the Meat Lover's pizza. Haha ;) it was very good!! By the way/helpful hint: this is the better deal. You get a total of 6 toppings. And for 4 toppings (you pick), you pay nearly two dollars more. Our Meat Lover's pizza came with cheese, ham, bacon, meatball, jalapeños (we added), and honestly, I forget the rest. But it was damn good. Our bill was under $30. Kent is a winsted institution for a reason. The food is great. Now I will admit sometimes on a slow day you'll get someone newer cooking and the pizza won't be as great. Honestly Pete makes the best pie but its always good and the staff is super friendly. The grinders are alright. Good but not the best in town. Dinners are all really good and well priced. Desserts are fantastic all made fresh on site. Definitely try the cheese cake. This is not a fancy place is a locals place and well priced. The ambiance is typical winsted which is, Who cares as long as you get a good meal. Expect a full house on Friday and Saturdays with a steady line for take out.
