Greek style pizza which everything in Winsted seems to be like. Pizza state and Winsted has like the worst. Sauce sweet Cheese doesn't have flavor Toppings not special not top tear brands of tasty. I wanted to like it but big No for us. They do care about their property had it nicely shoveled. If your into this Greek like type with sweeter type sauce then this is it. read more

The food is good, it is a little pricey in my opinion for what they offer. When I get a wrap I want fries to go with it, not potato chips. Just seems like a cheap way out and the wrap is a little pricey. Never had an issue with any of the food however. The owner always greets you when you come in. read more

This place would be a great restaurant for the tv show "Restaurant Impossible." We went there because it had decent yelp reviews, and since we were just passing through we had never eaten in this town before. The nearly dead houseplant in the window should have been our first clue to turn back! Dirty dishes (one had tomato sauce on it) and a dirty water glass (black on the bottom) made us wish they used paper products. Not a great way to start a meal. The "meatball" grinder was made with freezer-burnt meatloaf. Looked gross. See the photo I uploaded. The pizza crust was thick ... So thick that it was not cooked all the way through. The "Greek Salad" had pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, and a puddle of oil and red wine vinegar. Adding feta cheese was an additional cost. Not a traditional Greek salad, but the small fed three of us so that was a bonus. The Bathroom was plain, neat and clean. The waitress was pleasant. She gave the boys lollipops which made the boys happy. Happy ... but not enough to make this review more than 1 star. read more

ABC is a great alternative for a quick and delicious meal in the Winsted area. Great grinders and pizza. Friendly service fresh ingriedients and their dinners are great also. Food was pretty mediocre and the service was terrible. I would have rather just ordered up front and picked it up. Lasagna was meh, the meatball grinder wasn't great, the garlic bread pretty good. Not a place I would stop again. And giving my wife Diet Coke after we asked for a Coke twice and then some altitude was unappreciated. As was them stacking chairs in the dining area while were still eating. Sadly besides the apizza places, pizza is pretty disappointing in Connecticut overall. Food price / quality rating 9. We've only eaten here once at this time, but will certainly eat here again. We split a meatball parmesan grinder with hot peppers. High quality sauce, cheese, and bread. Meatballs were nicely spiced and sliced evenly, allowing even distribution on the roll, and non-mess-making handling while eating. From this one experience, it's apparent that this restaurant is concerned with quality of ingredients and proper preparation, and makes the kind of food you'd make for yourself. read more

How do I give negative-stars? I can't even find the words to describe how awful the Eggplant Grinder was because inedible, repugnant, nauseating, vile and disgusting simply don't come close. And the pizza, ordered when we were the only new order in the place at 9:30 pm, was delivered wrong. At least they were gracious and charged us only for the drinks. I love this place. Always have and I always will. It's some of the best pizza you can have. I've been going to this joint since I honestly can remember. The ingredients are always so fresh and everything is always superb. The rival down the road; Kent Pizza, has better little appetizers such as buffalo chips, wings and such but ABC has the dominate pizza and sandwiches. The prices are very affordable and you'll always be statifed. Everytime some homies or if a band crashes over at my place, we go here and they are always blown away. read more

I grew up with ABC as a small part of my life and it's covered more than 40 years of it. ABC is one of my "go to" places, but only for their grinders and Greek salad. If this was a grinder shop only, I would give them 5 stars. Their hot grinders are real comfort food (I know, not what you normally think of as "comfort food", but I'm not sure how else to generically categorize how/why their grinders are great), not stellar and I suppose there's room for some improvement, but they are very yummy. Their pizza is "ok", but it is really nothing special (it's certainly not bad). I used to think it was special and would typically get pizza from them. But my kids never wanted me to get pizza from them and then one day they told me, "their crust is boring". I finally decided to make myself take a fresh objective evaluation. And then I realized, yes.... their crust is really boring, and the toppings are just "ok". So I realized my desire for pizza from ABC was more "because I grew up with it", not because it was good. If just their crust could have some pizazz, I would reconsider getting pizza from ABC again, but otherwise.... I go elsewhere for pizza. So, perhaps 3 stars for pizza and 5 stars for their grinders... and that's why I give them 4 stars. ==-- To the Owner / Manager: Please, please... consider changing your pizza dough / crust, how you make it or how you cook it or something. Ok, perhaps don't rush out and change over completely without trying some other crusts and seeing how they go first. But offer to your customers, lets say... 2 different types of crust. Go ahead, keep your traditional crust you've been using for years (then you or the customer can always fall back on that), but then also at the least offer another type of crust. Try changing the "new" crust up maybe once every 2 or 3 months (put up some signage so people realize there's something new to try), and solicit people's feedback..... yes, you need to solicit feedback. But there're so many variations of good crust (I'm not sure anyone in Winsted has real good crust, but yours is maybe the most boring). I'm not a chef, so I can't really suggest what to change up from a chef's perspective. If you're really a pizza parlor, you should know how to try some different and good variations. All I know is, from a pizza consumer perspective, yours is boring and there's many good variations that are so much better on the market... and in some places, some really top-notch crusts. At the least, I would think you'd probably get a slight market increase in pizza orders, just from people's curiosity in wanting to try what your new crust(s)/pizza are like. Who knows, you could possibly end up with a real winner and consequentially a much bigger market share (in Winsted anyhow). I'm rootin for you, so I hope you'll consider what I'm saying. read more

Meatball grinder sucked, stale crumbling bread, meatballs are mostly bread and the sauce is bland. This used to be a decent restaurant but its quality has slipped. Their prices have gone up considerably and the pictures of their menu are completely outdated..$9.25 for a grinder that is of poor quality...too bad. When John and Tom owned it it was very good...now I will spend my $$ elsewhere. read more

I only gave 3 stars because I only like a few kinds of their pizza. If I go there I only get a bacon pizza, a meatball pizza, or an eggplant/tomato/ricotta pizza. All the other ones I've had there have been soggy for some reason. Their crust/dough just isn't the best. It's definitely more of a Greek style pizza than Italian. But I understand it's totally up to everyone's own preference. Just not the pizza for me. read more

Quick and Dirty: The best pizza in NWCT. Unique texture and harder to stop eating than a bag of lay's potato chips. Excellent prices. Food: This pizza is really tasty. Its also different from other Italian style pizzas, which makes it especially addictive. The grinders are similarly delicious, as are the salads and garlic bread. Atmosphere: Classic pizzeria. Nothing special, but tried and true. Spacious enough venue to host a children's birthday party. Staff: Interesting. Not always the most friendly or attentive, but somehow this adds greatly to the character of the restaurant and the experience in general. One waitress in particular reminds me of the soup guy from Seinfeld. Prices: Unbeatable for the quality of food, and considering that its the best pizza in NWCT. read more

The Greek Salads are simple with great fresh ingredients. The dressing is unrivaled in the salad world and makes this a unique unmatched experience. The Grinders (Grindiz in the Camp Delaware vernacular), are toasted and packed with tasty goodness. I've been eating pizza here for over 40 years and the owner is still the same man. He is friendly and attentive remembering something about most of his customers. The pizza is truly the best - cooked well with very fresh ingredients. The Greek salad is amazing also with the freshest and highest quality tomatoes, cold cuts, and feta cheese available 12 months a year. I give it a 4 put of 5 because the pasta dishes are not very good. Pizza, Greek Salad, and grinders are the best I have had up and down the east coast from Maine to Florida. Let me confound you when comparing my review to the other Yelp reviews of ABC Pizza. First, this place is like a landmark in the Winchester/Norfolk/Colebrook area. They have a long history of making great pizza and grinders. I don't know their ethnic roots but ABC is like all of the other great Greek pizzerias scattered across NY and New England. It's a very busy shop. Now I've been a customer of ABC for at least 20 years and their consistency has been a strong point ... I like that in a restaurant. Among the best menu items were their sausage and meatball pizzas and the turkey and roast beef grinders. The grinders are still the best ... but something happened to the pizza crust in the last few months. What was once light and fluffy is now somehow different ... it has a bite to it ... it physically feels different as well as tastes different than it has across my two decades with them. We've experienced this with the last 4 pizzas we ordered. Maybe they listened to the Yelp reviewer here who said that they should mix it up a bit ... well I strongly disagree with that. So ... 3 stars for apizza, 5 stars for grinders = 4 stars. And a hope that they will change their crust recipe back to the way it once was. Pizza here was great. It's not traditional pizza, as it has very thick crust and thick bread but it is delicious. We ordered 2 large plain cheese pizzas and 1 large pepperoni pizza, both of which were delicious. To start, I definitely recommend trying their house salad to share. The dressing is delicious and it's a great way to start your meal. Very casual and waiters/waitresses were very helpful. ABC is great for bigger parties, the food came quickly and the service was good. Overall had a great meal here and will be back again!! read more

I have nothing but bad times with ABC. I always get terrible service and terrible attitudes from the waitresses. It's almost like if you're not in their clique you get treated like crap. They might as well have a sign that says you're unwelcome. Then if that wasn't enough, my best friend recently went and found a shard of GLASS in the pizza. How that even made it to her table is past me. Would never recommend this place to a friend and I don't even know how it's still open. read more

I am not really comfortable giving such a low rating but the pizza was very bad. Crust reminded me of cardboard ( no taste and stale) and the entire pizza was extremely salty. I gave them a try when my usual place was closed. The staff was very nice but that can't make up for a pizza joint whose pizza is terrible.
