i drove almost 9 hours to get here from california and this was the first thing i ate after surviving on coffee and chips. this was the absolute best thing i could have had after being that hungry and it honestly brought me back from the dead. i don't know when i'll be back in Bend but i would definitely come back for this. they also had crayons and wax paper at the table that we could use to draw which was super fun. read more

I decided to give the glazed donut burger a try. I was a bit afraid but happy I went with it. It was reasonably priced at $13.00 for a good burger with bacon, cheese and fried egg sandwiched between a glazed donut. The sweet balanced the salty and worked well. We also enjoyed the lobster roll and cheese curds. I was surprised the restaurant wasn't crowded at lunch and our large group of 11 had no problem being seated. The restaurant is small and has ski motif throughout. Our server was pleasant enough and gave us our space to chat. He was a bit slow with the bill but that wasn't an issue. Service was fine. Not too attentive to our furbabies but at least they were allowed on patio. I sought an available dog bowl and shared my water with my girls. Server did not even bother to offer refill of water. Breakfast is served all day. Got the fried chicken bowl. It was kind of meh. The gravy was salty and lacked any depth of flavor. Husband liked his pesto mac. Our young pup liked the chicken and sweet potato bowl. Maybe I ordered wrong but it would take failing to find another dog friendly place before trying meal at JDub. Service was excellent, rapid and helpful. We were able to take our puppy dog with us to dinner and still have a great meal. The menu was fairly extensive, as we enjoyed a pot roast sandwich and fries. The food was yummy! The most difficult facet of the meal was the lack of parking in downtown Old Bend. read more

Oh man! I'm still full an hour later! J Dub is one of the 1st places I ate in Bend years ago and I'm sad to say I haven't been more than once a year since. Today once again proved that J Dub is a great spot. I've never eaten anywhere but in the bar or back patio, but both of those spots are pretty cozy/chill. They also have a large dining room up front. The bartenders have always been great and the bartender today, Josh, lived up to the #1 Bartender in Bend plaque behind the bar. I've loved all the deviled eggs I've tried here. I had a buffalo chicken one a while back that was my favorite. Today, it was a pesto-parmesan egg and it did not disappoint. For my meal, I went with the Dub Burger with onion rings. It was just as good as I remember, but way bigger! I like the spam as a stand in for bacon and who can refuse a fried egg on about anything. The onion rings were good, but not unique or outstanding. The sweet potato tots are good, but don't have the texture of a traditional tot. It's more akin to a solid piece of potato rather than a collection of potato pieces/hashbrown. Perfect service, modern environment but with fair and not to expensive prices, allows kids to draw on a sheet of paper that covers the table and have a chance to get their drawing on the wall. Stopped in here with my family to eat real quick before a concert. Joshua was our server, and he was so friendly and easy going. I had a couple odd requests and he was more than happy to accommodate! The food was tasty and reasonably priced. The atmosphere reminded me of a ski lodge a little bit, casual and a little rustic. Great spot! read more

We've eaten a number of delicious meals here and we like that the menu has a range of different meals to choose from. Anything from deviled eggs to a soft shell crab sandwich. The decor is nice and staff is friendly and attentive. The jambalaya is delicious you have to try it. I recommend eating here. read more

I showed up later than what is normal business hours, for dinner, and the front looked empty. I came in and a patron instructed me to go to the back where the bar is located. Not only did I get a great meal but their bartender Todd is an awesome showman with flaming coffee drinks and a welcoming, cheerful demander. If I lived here, this would be my Cheers. Came in for dinner during our stay in Bend. A huge fan of deviled eggs and the deviled egg du jour was santa fe style ... tortilla chip, chicken and a salsa. It was good with generous amount of the santa fe topping. I've learned that I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes to devil eggs, which these are very good (after I scraped the santa fe topping off). I think they may have good combination offerings of the deviled egg du jour, but if you are traditionalist, just order them plan. The unpearable moscow mule was light and refreshing, especially as the temps were in the 90s! The pear taste is subtle, though still noticeable. the burgers are BIG and messy - just like burgers should be. The western was great and my son devoured all of it. The no carb burger is also a generous portion and comes with amazing pickles to give it a nice clean acidic bite. The CA chicken sandwich is also big and messy, I had to use a fork and knife. The grilled chicken is cooked well ... tender and moist, which can be hard with chicken breast as it can get dry quickly. The fries are yummy and take the fry sauce, which I think is a combo of mayo and ketchup, but well perfectly with the fries. I had ordered a side of spicy 1000 island, which was also very good, but the traditional fry sauce beat it out hands down. Good hearty, comfort food. Come hungry! read more

We had an amazing breakfast here!! I loved the chicken friend chicken and their biscuit!! The biscuit with strawberry jam was the best. My friend raved about his tacos. They looked to have an extensive drink menu I would be excited to try another time. Free 2 hour parking on the street. My friend said that the only minute bad things were: his scrambled eggs were a little runny, he got a metallic taste from the pie tin in his food, and the water tasted a little off. My son and I needed a place to eat dinner and this spot caught our eye due to the great yelp reviews. The restaurant was clean and it is family-oriented, so the tables are covered in paper and crayons are supplied if anyone wants to have some artistic fun!We ordered breaded cheese curds, a lobster roll and the chicken parm sandwich. For drinks we had a Guinness and Huckleberry lemonade. The drinks were spot on. My son LOVED the lemonade. The cheese curds were also all right. I let him be the judge bc I'm not a huge fan of fried cheese to begin with. 5/5 he says. The lobster roll just didn't do it for me. It was "meh". I've had real lobster rolls in the past and this wasn't the same. I don't think it was real lobster, as it had kind of a sweet taste to it and there was a lot of it (not complaining, but thinking I would have received less of it was real lobster). So, it was a hefty sandwich, but didn't hit the "lobster roll" mark for me. My son said that the best thing about the chicken parm sandwich was the pesto sauce. Otherwise, it was pretty bland. Cooked all right, just meh. Their sauces are delicious though. They had their own fries sauce and we got a ranch side with the fried cheese and it was SO good. Service with Becky was great too. She made sure we had all we needed. We probably won't be back, but it was good to try. read more

I had the lunch special, a Cuban meatloaf sandwich. It was perfectly cooked on toasted bread with meatloaf, cheese, ham. Sounds like an odd combo but I would definitely get it again. I had a side of clam chowder which was tasty but a bit thick. My husband had the Cajun scramble which he really enjoyed. The potatoes were cubed and fried, crunchy, moist and tender in the center, my favorite style of home fried breakfast potatoes. I stole a few off his plate. We always drop into J Dub when we go through Bend for a consistent and satisfying experience. Family friendly, outdoor seating in the back. They serve breakfast all day. We went here wholly based on the Yelp profile (we are from out of town). It said "better than Deschutes"... nope. It said "Vegan options"... nope (nada, zero). It said "vegetarian options"... if you count a single veggie burger and a side of home fries as sufficient menu options. My friend wasn't able to eat anything as even the oil for the tots was used for chicken and fish. Really sad. My other friend had a Ron Swanson basic cheeseburger... meat, cheese, basic. I had the caprese chicken sandwich... it was pretty good, once I trimmed off the BROWN lettuce (see pic). The IPA was the best thing on the table. Our waiter was not enthusiastic, and was completely unapologetic that one person wasn't able to eat anything from the menu. We sat in the front area... perhaps the back area / patio had better ambience, but friends... this place has the ambiance and food of a BASIC DINER that's leaning towards being a brewery. This place is amazing! They have a wonderful outdoor area that accommodates dogs. They even have a dog menu which is an awesome option. The food was super delicious! We were staying down the street for the night and before we took off on the road the next morning we looked on Yelp for a good breakfast joint. (they are open for other meals besides breakfast, btw) I saw JDub and we decided to walk there, but was worried there would be a long wait. Luckily, we were seated right away. They had some wonderfully unique breakfast choices. Including some fun breakfast cocktails. I had to get the Mr October which is chicken, egg and cheese in a biscuit covered with sausage gravy.
