We were looking for a place to grab a late dinner and J DUB hit the spot. The bar in the back was comfortable and collegial. Staff was friendly. The special deviled eggs were tasty with enough kick to match the sweet apple and bacon toppings. Entrees were fresh and well sized. The fried rockfish in Japanese breadcrumbs was amazing! We had not been back to J Dub for a few years. Previously we ate breakfast there; more than once, and rated it very high - good service and delicious breakfast menu. Tonight we went for dinner and were disappointed. Burger ($14'): C. Special turkey/bacon/swiss/avocado sandwich ($15): C (and missing key ingredients). Cesar salad add chicken ($17) D. Server was good and professional. Won't be back or recommend for dinner. May try again for brea and hope for the best. read more

Our group stumbled upon this spot when we were looking for something to bring us back to life after a long night out and it was just what we needed. Our server was the sweetest, I wish I got her name but she was friendly and made us feel super welcomed! The food was great and so were the mimosas. I do wish they had a few more options for vegans or those of us with egg allergies but all in all everything was great read more

We stopped here for breakfast after reading several positive reviews. It looks like we should have sorted those reviews to get the more accurate ones. My wife had a salad which was fine, my son the blueberry French toast, and my daughter got the chicken strips. No complaints on the French toast or salad but the fried chicken had the consistency of chicken that has been under a heat lamp for hours. That kind of dry chicken that you have to pull apart with your hand because no fork is going to penetrate it. The bacon also tasted off, like it was fried and then reheated in a microwave. The biscuits were mediocre, the eggs were ok, there wasn't enough gravy to report back on. Potatoes were fine as well. My daughter ate one of her chicken strips which was also dry, I only finished the eggs and a few potatoes. I will say that the ambience was nice, and our server was very friendly and attentive. read more

One of the best experiences i've had in my life. After an 9 hour drive from Santa Cruz CA, I found this spot close by my airbnb and decided to try it out. It was absolutely DELICIOUS!! It was one of the best things i've ever eaten and would drive to oregon again just for this restaurant. The service was amazing and very friendly, Jon was excellent. I'm going to be searching for a meal similar to this again and i'll never find it other than here. read more

The food here is big portions and big love. Our family enjoyed the frickles, Mr October, the Donut Sando and the Chicken Fried Chicken. All of it was made with love. Our sever, Becky, treated us so well with prompt service and a smile! The atmosphere is pure Bachelor Bend, with skis and boards on the walls, pics of the mountain and just a feel good vibe. Next time you are looking for a place to head out, J Dub is a great spot. Breakfast all day, and burgers, chicken parm and more if you're ready for lunch or dinner. I can't say enough mushy ish about this place! An unexpected thunderstorm took a day from our vacation plans this past weekend, but we had so much fun at J dub, that it didn't even matter. Skye and Vega took such good care of us that we came back the next day and did it again. From the Puppy Menu, to the delicious Bloody Mary's, to the customer service (including the bartenders and food runners), to the southern inspired menu items we were thrilled with our experience! I felt like I was back home with those fried green tomatoes! Skye...your "Sunny" *wink wink* disposition brings happiness to anyone who meets you. Our first time in and it was lunch hour. My husband ordered breakfast of pancakes, eggs and bacon. He said it was ok but not warm enough and the bacon seemed like it was held from the morning. I had Huevos Rancheros. It was different than I have had before. There were way too many beans, cabbage also which was unusual. I didn't eat much of it. They served our food in tin pie pans. They were too light and slipped on the paper table cover. The waiter was pleasant enough. I don't know if we'll ever go back or not but it's not likely. read more

I needed a blueberry pancake more than I needed to breathe so we came by for dinner. (LOVE that they serve breakfast all day) It was TASTY and the eggs and potatoes were perfect. My husband got chicken strips and they rocked too! Service was excellent, fast and friendly. We got to draw on the table which was fun for me. Service was a 5/5. Friendly and accommodating. I got the chicken and waffles... which was just one cut in half. So chicken and waffle. The flavor was a little boring but it was breaded nicely. The waffle was fine. Eggs were fine. Bacon was very good though. Overall it's a solid place that seems to have some good people. Based on my one experience with the food, I give it a 3/5. Maybe I need to go more to try more food but I can only rate on my one time there. read more

We ordered the Mr. October Breakfast and our Server said it was his favorite, but warned us it was a lot of food, so we split it. It was delicious, but still too much food for two us us to finish it all. Service was awesome, friendly and attentive. Ddidn't have to chase him down to place our order or get the check, but it staill has a relaxed, casual vibe. J Dub was the only restaurant serving a late breakfast, other than donuts. I'll go back in a New York minute. I left an item I purchased at a local shop at J Dub's (duh) and they were very gracious in getting it back to be (out of state). I had several very pleasant conversations with J Dub staff to make arrangements. All were polite and helpful. read more

My daughter and I were visiting Bend and really wanted a good burger and fries. The high reviews led us to JDub. The service was good, the fries were really great but sadly their burger was not very good. Completely mediocre - it was basically a frozen patty - tasted just like the burgers I can make at home. We were disappointed and won't be back. :( read more

Came here based on pictures and reviews. We found that it was all good in concept, but didn't haven't much flavor. We got the feeling we came after a lunch rush. I got the Mr. October. Again, the chicken didn't have seasoning, the biscuit was rock hard and the gravy was average and scarce. Loved the sweet potato tots. The donut burger, I was told, was great as well as the fries. Checked this place out while visiting Bend. When you walk in it has a chill vibe . There are drawings from customers all over the walls, stickers all over the merch / pay area. The other walls were decorated with some cool skis and outdoor photos. The staff was nice and laid back. Service was excellent. The food was great. I was with a party of about 10 and we all liked our food and drinks. The server was great with drink and food suggestions. I ordered the lobster roll and it was sooooooooooooo good. I had a beer (can't remember the name, sorry) and some fried pickles. The fried pickles were the best I've ever had. At the table there is a big piece of white paper and crayons. You can make your own art masterpiece while you wait. I drew a cat and they hung it above the door. My kids enjoyed the drawings and being able to draw. I definitely recommend this place. You can buy a sticker and t shirt on your way out. Cheers! read more

This place saved my marriage last night. After a 9-hour journey to Bend in an undersized car for my family, the patio seating and varied menu brought us peace and offered nourishment. I felt compelled to write because we were so thrown off by the reviews. I really get tired of this. No way is this a 4.4 As a few honest others said food greasy over fried. Did not taste homemade or fresh ingredients.I had the good morning chimichanga.Was hard as a rock and overly deep fried. I ate the insides out but not much flavor. And not sure if the bacon was bacon bits or just hard & overcooked cuz not much in there. Husband had the pancakes and they were decent.(thats why a 2 star) His eggs ordered as "medium well" uncooked, even the whites were runny. Said to be a special place for dogs.Nothing special. I love yelp for finds like this. We're in town with our dogs looking for a pet-friendly restaurant with seating in the shade. This was perfect! It even has a puppy menu! Our GSD snarfed up his chicken and sweet potato, and our beagle had eggs and carrots. The carrots were looked at with disdain by the beagle, but the GSD happily cleaned her plate. As for the human food, my son got the Italian sandwich with fries. He said it was good, but the peppers were too spicy. I had the jambalaya. It tasted just like it should with the right amount of heat to make my nose run, but not be painful. The only downside is that it was super hot outside, and the food itself never cooled down so I had to eat slowly. My husband had "Mr October" and he said it was amazing! I stole some of his potatoes, and they were delicious with the fry sauce, and snuck a bite of the fried chicken, and it was great, too. The outdoor seating was perfect for the dogs. Big umbrellas to provide shade, and water bowls accessible to everyone. There is a separate outdoor entrance we didn't know about, which is great for dogs. There was music going in the background, but it was just the right volume to notice it and sing along, and not be blasted out. Our server was fantastic! Kept us filled up on water, patient with our dogs that were in the way (we were seated next to the bussing station), and just everything you'd want a server to be. We have one more day in town. We may very well go visit again. Everything looked amazing!! read more

My wife and I stop by for breakfast recently while traveling to Bend. My wife had pancakes and I had the chicken fried chicken with sausage gravy and scrambled eggs. The chicken was really tender and the gravy was very flavorful with lots of sausage. My wife's pancakes were very large and fluffy. We had an opportunity to talk to John the owner for quite a while. J-DUB's is 'The Brunch Spot'. Excellent service starting from the second we walked through the door. We were acknowledged and promptly seated to our choice of dining areas. Space was fresh, clean, and orderly. We both ate our entire meal. Blueberry French toast was scrumptious! Crisp on the outside, soft and fluff on the inside. Yummy blueberry compote. No syrup needed. Best French toast I ever did have! Bacon was very tasty as well. Pork chop was definitely smoked to perfection and savored. Jon Weber is the owner, arrived in Bend in 1993, managed at the Pine Tavern for 17 years, and 10 Barrel for 6. Wanted to open a spot with tasty, affordable food and drinks, paired with fun, professional service. Add a great ski town atmosphere and vibe, in a historic location and invite people to come enjoy!

It also had a few olives on the side with a red pepper type sauce. I got it with no pickled onions. They had a great beer selection and even a few tasty non-alcoholic beers. Also had kombucha on tap which was delicious (from Humm). Everyone working was super sweet and the vibes were relaxed and casual. Our food came out quick and exactly how we ordered it. They also seemed to have spaces for larger parties, too. They also have a little gift shop if you wanted to pick anything from shirts, to bottle openers, to beer candles and more! The steak was huge and they cooked it perfectly. The blackening seasoning wasn't quite as flavorful as I am used to, but it was still good. I managed to get through the cap of the ribeye and that was delicious. I also had a glass of wine with my steak that the bartender helped me pick. Everything was really tasty, the restaurant was clean and upscale looking, and the people working there were very nice. It was the perfect way to spoil myself after transporting my foster kitten to Spokane and then driving back to California. I would definitely return if I make a trip through Bend again.

The meal was supposed to include brussel sprouts but came with a grilled broccoli cauliflower assortment instead. My wife had the Scallop Risotto which was also a great recommendation from the server. In reality, The Hook & Plow deserved 3 1/2 stars but that's not an option on Yelp. It may have been an off night for the staff, so I will give them the benefit of doubt. We would be open to trying it again sometime in the future.

I would come back here again for the friendly vibe, solid food, and lack of pretentiousness.
