Unfortunately I could not get it to safely sit/lay flat and stay in place to use my table saw and the leg was to big for my chop saw. So off to to World's Finest Exotic Woods / Global Wood Source... I explained the issue and the 3 of us discussed ways to cut the burl table leg. Using the bandsaw was the choice and the finished (cut) looks great. Off to put the table back together... Thanks

This is by far the best place to source the highest quality hardwoods in the Bay Area. I spent…read moremonths trying to find 9ft+ long walnut boards to build a dining table. I went to 5 of the largest hardwood suppliers in the Bay Area multiple times, sorting through 1000-2000bf of lumber and could barely find a single board at the size I needed that didnt have massive knots, or overall just poor figure / grain. I finally found Global Wood Source, and while their volume of wood to select from was much smaller than the larger suppliers in the area, the quality of the selection was not even in the same ball park as the other suppliers I had been visiting. All of their boards were gorgeous, unique, and perfectly surfaced. I spent some time chatting with Eric, and James, both incredibly helpful, patient, and easy going. They helped me find exactly what I needed, and even spent some time chatting about my project. James gave me a few great ideas / tips for my project that came in handy. I wont be shopping for hardwood lumber anywhere else moving forward. For me it's worth the drive from the east bay to have access to their gorgeous supply of hardwoods.

Got there, and the people…read morewere very friendly and helpful for the basics, but I wouldn't go there to ask actual technical questions about wood or building. I did going expecting it would have a better selection of lumber at better prices than Home Depot. Unfortunately, that was not the case. They had a lot of wood suitable for construction but not for woodworking. They really had only one type of plywood with any kind of nice surface. Mostly have OSB, CDX, and only one type with a sanded finish. And that was almost $10 more per sheet than what I could get at Home Depot. No Birch or other quality plywood ether. I did purchase about 4 sheets just to check them and then went to Home Depot and got the remaining 11 sheets I needed. It was less expensive and there was significantly more choice for plywood other than OSB, CDS, etc.

I had found some luck but the places were all on the East Coast. Needless to say the shipping costs (almost 3X the cost of the material) made it a non starter. But as luck would have it I was able to find Korbet right in my own backyard. First off the customer service experience was excellent. Prompt call back after I submitted for a quote from their website. John was friendly and even offered a few suggestions since I am not a professional and I'm doing this myself. Got the quote witin minutes, came down and they had all of my stuff ready to go. loaded it up and the ten foot downspouts were pushing it but my MDX was just barely able to load them internally. Best of all no horrendous shipping charges. They have more copper than you can shake a stick at from gutters, to downspouts and all manner of stuff in between. Like a 500 foot roll of sheet copper. They also seem to have a full line of zinc realted products as well. If you are in the need for copper or other metals I would give KM a try.

Horrible customer service…read more I came into this showroom on a Saturday after a window latch broke. I brought the window and the broken latch with me, expecting some basic assistance finding a replacement part. Instead, because I didn't have an original order number and hadn't purchased the window directly through them, they refused to help. Maybe the weekday staff is more knowledgeable, but the employees working that Saturday either didn't know the Milgard products or simply couldn't be bothered to help someone who wasn't making a large purchase. It felt like the moment they realized I was only looking for a replacement part, they lost all interest in assisting me. If you're expecting customer service, product knowledge, or any willingness to help solve a simple problem, look elsewhere. There are better options out there. Update: Reached out to Roadrunner Glass in Fremont and they were able to identify my window from pictures as the Tuscany model and the Smart Touch Latch I needed. They did not even me to come in with the window and only needed a picture. So if you want good customer service its better to just wait till during the week when staff with experience and know-how can help.
